The Collusion Debate Is Over - Trump Just Admitted It on Twitter

Politics • Views: 35,672

After lying about the Trump Tower meeting with Russian operatives repeatedly for nearly two years, and after dictating the false statement his son made to Congress about it, our so-called president (who’s currently enjoying his weekly golf course vacation time) got on Twitter this morning and ended the debate over whether his campaign colluded with Russia.

He says they did.

Under the bus with you, Junior!

After so many lies by Trump and everyone associated with him, this much of the truth is now out. But how will the story change when it comes out that Trump himself knew about and approved the meeting in advance?

Because you know it’s going to. Just a matter of time now.

This was mentioned on the previous thread—another woman (there are now at least 10) named Pat Baranowski came forward to the NYTimes to describe how she was sexually harassed by megachurch pastor Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Community Church. Hybels abruptly retired in April, six months before schedule, leaving his church in the hands of Steve Carter as the teaching pastor and Heather Larson as the executive pastor.

nytimes.com

The timing of this story couldn’t have been worse as Thursday and Friday are when Willow Creek’s enormous “Global Leadership Summit” is held. It is simulcast around the world, including to a megachurch around the corner from me.

Now Steve Carter has decided he had enough and abruptly resigned today.

I wonder if this is a result of Hope Hicks getting on AF1 yesterday. I’m sure Mueller would be interested in knowing why she was there.

YouTube had some small videos up from last night’s Trump rally. I was interested in how Trump “handled” Troy Balderson when Balderson finished up his plea for votes and thanking Trump for his endorsement.

I saw a bit of this this morning on local news and it looked like Trump pushed Balderson away.

Seeing it now, it just looks like another Trump power move. You can hear him say “proud of you.” Yeah, proud of you, now get outta’ way!

To be quite frank, I couldn’t care less what Trump supporters are feeling or saying. We’ve had a million and one stories about them. The only things that matters now are the vote in November and Muellers investigation.

Trump, flanked by Ivanka and Don Jr, June 7, 2016, two days before the Trump Tower meeting that Trump has claimed many times he didn’t know about in advance:
I am going to give a major speech on, …probably Monday of next week, and we’re going to be discussing all of the things that have taken place with the Clintons. I think you are going to find it very informative and very very interesting.”

This article on Q is hilarious. Well done, Avi Selk.

washingtonpost.com

An example—about the JOHN KENNEDY JUNIOR IS ALIVE AND IS Q!! HIS GRAVESITE LOOKS LIKE A Q.

In the nine-month history of Q posts, these last revelations have been among the most incredible. Some wept when they learned of them. Certain minor complications later cropped up, including: Q returned from hiatus and denounced R. Also, that is not actually a picture of John F. Kennedy Jr.’s gravesite. But these are mere thorns in the white rabbit’s paw. We can all see the general gist of the truth.

One of Ju-Air’s historic Ju-52 aircraft crashed in the Swiss Alps yesterday afternoon, killing all 20 people aboard.
Vintage plane crashes in Swiss Alps, killing 20 on board
There is already a wikipedia page about the crash. 2018 Ju-Air Junkers Ju 52 crash
This particular plane, registered HB-HOT, was built for the Swiss military in 1939 and served until 1985. The Swiss kept the old plane, and two sisters, primarily for its remarkable short field capability and general suitability for mountain flying. They were used to train Switzerland’s small (1 company) parachute force.
This is the same JU-52 that appeared in the films When Eagles Dare and Valkyrie.

Saudi Arabia expels Canada’s ambassador after Ottawa criticizes activist arrests

Saudi Arabia has asked Canada’s ambassador to leave the country within 24 hours, just two days after Canada criticized the arrest of women’s rights and human rights activists in the Arab kingdom.

In a statement, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused Canada of making “false” statements and interfering with Saudi internal affairs, and said ambassador Dennis Horak was no longer welcome in the country.

The ministry said it rejected Canada’s characterization of events in Saudi Arabia, and said it wouldn’t stand for outside intervention.

The KSA is running a huge propaganda campaign - dwarfs Putin’s - to change how people think of the KSA:

Saudi Arabia appoints Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as tech ambassador

The Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming and Drones (SAFCSP) has named Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak as an ambassador for the creation of a “Saudi Tech Hub.”

Saud Bin Abdulla Al-Qahtani, the head of the federation and an adviser to the Royal Court, presented Wozniak with a special certificate marking the occasion on Friday, during the finale of the three-day Hajj Hackathon in Jeddah.

[…]

Al-Qahtani thanked Wozniak for accepting the role of ambassador and his enthusiasm for it, describing him as one of the most important modern minds, who has helped to change the history of the world.

Wozniak said he was happy to accept the SAFCSP offer, explaining that he had been persuaded to do so by the remarkable development he has seen in Saudi Arabia’s approach to technology, which strengthens the nation’s vision for the sector. He said the success of this week’s Hajj Hackathon reflected the great interest among Saudis in programming and emerging technologies. There is every chance, he added, that Saudi Arabia will play an important role in the evolving and changing global technology community, and that that the country could soon be the main tech hub in the region.

[…]

Note that the source, Arab News, is an organ of the KSA.

And no, Wozniak is not “one of the most important modern minds”, not even close. He’s an ok engineer who lucked into partnering with a very ambitious entrepreneur, and lucked out by being in the right place at the right time.

To be quite frank, I couldn’t care less what Trump supporters are feeling or saying. We’ve had a million and one stories about them. The only things that matters now are the vote in November and Muellers investigation.

Say it loud and clear - may it be heard in the rafters.

I would like to hear what Hillary supporters are saying - the MAJORITY of the voting people. The media never seem to talk about them at all - other than to chastise them for not supporting the president*

I once bought a book math from doverpublications.com, so I receive offers for everything they sell. I have never heard of Kate Chopin, because there are so many people to hear about, but they have two books from her that sound rather interesting:

A Pair of Silk Stockings and Other Short Stories:

Known for her vivid portrayals of Creole life in Louisiana, Kate Chopin (1851-1904) wrote, during her brief literary career, poignant and perceptive stories about the emotional lives of women. Bypassing many of the conventions of 19th-century realism, she won praise for her realistic portraits of the inhabitants of bayou and urban areas.
This collection of nine stories contains one of her most famous works, “Désirée’s Baby” — a haunting and ironic tale of miscegenation. Additional stories include “Madame Célestin’s Divorce,” “A Gentleman of Bayou Téche” and “At the ‘Cadian Ball,” from Bayou Folk; “A Respectable Woman,” “A Night in Acadie” and Azélie” from A Night in Acadie; “The Dream of an Hour” and the title story. Written with grace, delicate humor and a keen understanding of the human — especially the female — psyche, these stories are a superb introduction to an important American writer whose literary career was cut short by the harsh criticism directed at her novel The Awakening (1899).

The Awakening:

When first published in 1899, The Awakening shocked readers with its honest treatment of female marital infidelity. Audiences accustomed to the pieties of late Victorian romantic fiction were taken aback by Chopin’s daring portrayal of a woman trapped in a stifling marriage, who seeks and finds passionate physical love outside the straitened confines of her domestic situation.
Aside from its unusually frank treatment of a then-controversial subject, the novel is widely admired today for its literary qualities. Edmund Wilson characterized it as a work “quite uninhibited and beautifully written, which anticipates D. H. Lawrence in its treatment of infidelity.”
Although the theme of marital infidelity no longer shocks, few novels have plumbed the psychology of a woman involved in an illicit relationship with the perception, artistry, and honesty that Kate Chopin brought to The Awakening. Now available in this inexpensive edition, it offers a powerful and provocative reading experience to modern readers.

Four out of the five Republican candidates running for state superintendent of public instruction said they believe Arizona students should be taught creationism and intelligent design as part of science learning requirements.

The candidates’ comments came during Wednesday night’s debate hosted by The Arizona Republic and azcentral.com.

Jonathan Gelbart was the sole Republican candidate who opposed teaching students creationism and intelligent design. He is joined by Democrats Kathy Hoffman and David Schapira.

Trump admits what we’ve already known all along.

He conspired with Russians to get dirt on Clinton. He lied and obstructed justice when asked about this repeatedly. His idiot son is dead to rights on multiple felonies. Everyone in that meeting is.

Trump’s betting on the GOP doing nothing to stop him. They continue enabling him and they are proving Trump to be right so far - they’ve conspired and enabled him - and they are part of the criminal enterprise at this point.

They knew or had reason to know something was wrong here, and they did nothing.

Nunes. Chaffetz. Rohrabacher. Ryan. McConnell.

All of them.

And even with all this, Trump thinks he’s got a path out that doesn’t involve a lengthy stay in ADX Florence.

He’s betting on the GOP doing nothing.

He’s betting on his know nothing base to continue backing him.

He’s betting that his overt statements all along somehow doesn’t rise to level of high crimes (narrator: it does) or that GOP base support for Trump remains at over 80% (Narrator: it does).

The craven and evil GOP have put party over country, and we have been warning about this for two fucking years.

The admission today is more ammo for Mueller - and already supports a case for conspiracy, financial crimes, and frankly high crimes (no misdemeanors here, they’re all high crimes).

I believe three 747’s have been converted to super tankers. Mighty expensive to operate but many times is the right tool in the tool box. They can lay a good retardant line for over a half mile.

Some up to date news. Several years ago Congress gave the US Forest Service seven surplus Coast Guard C-130’s for conversion into air tankers. Rather than typing out the whole story here’s a link”

Legislation to transfer 7 Coast Guard HC-130H’s to CAL FIRE lands on President’s desk

It’s been a long process but I think this is the best use for these planes. Cal-Fire is very interested in operating these planes while the Forest Service is very reluctant. Too much red tape for the FS.

We got home from Yukon and Alaska late Friday night, to a house with no electricity. (The wires were not hooked to the house.)

So much for being told it was turned on Monday.

Got the electrician out here three times Saturday, along with the state electrical inspector, and they got four plug sockets working in our house (one outside, three inside). No lights.

It turns out the storm that hit right after we left which ripped out the electrical wiring damaged the knob-and-tube circuit in our house. (This house actually has two circuits: The old knob-and-tube circuit which runs the lights and most of the plug sockets, and the Nineties addition which runs the water heater, dryer, and four plug sockets.)

It’s getting dark now, and we have a storm coming (why did I come home again?) so I won’t be round long … I need the plug socket for a lamp.

When we stopped in Chadron, NE for gas Friday night, a person I never met ran over to our car and asked “is that the Smart car that went up the Alaska Highway?” (I guess we’re Internet famous now.)

Total length of trip, 5,601.1 miles (not counting the Alaska Marine Highway ferries).

CBS This Morning did a show about it. One of the things they mentioned was our increase in cesareans. The doctor on the show described that the more cesareans you have, the more dangerous they get. He described a third cesarean as “operating on a bunch of melted crayons.”

Here’s a graph I found on cesarean rates per year:

I can tell that, around here, cesareans tend to be preferred because it can be scheduled. And, as with all things these days, being able to tell your boss when the kid’s going to be here makes keeping your job safer.

Perhaps related to the rising costs of health care and that prospective mothers would rather (try to) deliver at home than get stuck with an outrageously expensive bill that they may not even be able to afford?

Perhaps related to closing Planned Parenthood offices, making it harder to get contraception for women whose last pregnancy was iffy and they know damn well that they should try to avoid another one. And abortion being much harder to get when they find themselves pregnant anyway.

I’d like to chime in with another angle…we make access to contraceptives a difficulty. Coin-op’s daughter went with an IUD instead of less-invasive BC methods because of the difficulty of getting those methods on a regular basis. The resulting scar tissue caused by the IUD made delivering my first grandchild impossible by any means but cesarean. And any future pregnancies get immediately classified as high risk. Coin-op’s daughter is not alone here….

Edited for clarity….

To that latter point from the tangerine wankmaggot’s unhinged morning ranting, I’m pretty sure that if California was just “dumping water into the ocean”, 1) the whole state would literally be a fire, and 2) not just literally, but also politically. The severity of the drought condition is such that wasting what precious little fresh water there is would be a scandal of national proportions.

Just a reminder, this lizard works for the evil too big to fail bank. On the tech side. I would be curious to find out what the “computer glitch” is.

You all did see that WF agreed to pay a $2.09 billion settlement for shenanigans in 2005-2007 regarding residential mortgage-backed securities? From reading the DoJ press release, it appears verifications were not really done on incomes prior to the loans being packaged (*cough* liar loans *cough*) and sold to investors. Consequently, the quality of the securities supported by these loan packages was misrepresented. What was not clear from the DoJ press release is whether these were WF or Wachovia packages, as this took place before the merger.

re: #213 Quoth the raven, Covfefe.

That’s actually an excellent point.

I’m a respiratory therapist. At one hospital, I work with adults and babies, and at the other hospital, I’m exclusively labor/delivery/NICU. You’d be amazed how many people schedule cesareans for insane reasons. I was working at one of the busiest L & D centers in the country on 12/12/2012. All our ORs were booked for sections, mostly by moms who wanted their child to have a 12/12/12 birthday. No lie. Astounding.

Another mom insisted on no vaccines, no vitamins post-birth, no *anything* that wasn’t natural. She even refused genetic testing (mom was 41 yrs old). When the pain really kicked in, she didn’t want to push, so she insisted on a section. So, no vaccines, but a risky surgery is cool?

Also a problem - moms who insist on delivering with a doula. I have nothing against doulas, generally speaking, but the reason you deliver in a hospital with a physician on standby is so that we can intervene in case of emergencies. If your baby’s heart rate is falling from 130 to 90 to 80 to 60 to 40, and we’re telling you it’s time for a section, take our word for it. I want to throttle these doulas who tell the mom it’s all okay, this is normal. It’s NOT. If a newborn has a HR of 40, we’re starting chest compressions. I don’t want to think about how many of these babies have anoxic brain injuries because they listened to a doula instead of a doc.

The one constant truth about tariffs is that they are a shortsighted, simplistic and intrinsically damaging answer to a complex problem. The companies that benefit from tariffs quickly become dangerously addicted to them at the expense of long term economic health and viability.

You know that slap back Melania did saying she likes what LeBron is doing and would like to visit his school.

Saw this when checking my email. It’s all bullshit.

Inquisitor - Melania Trump Walks Back Support For LeBron James

Since Mrs. Trump’s initial comments about James, which she delivered through her spokesperson, a senior White House official has insisted that the First Lady was in no way picking sides by praising James for his charity work.

“That wasn’t her taking sides,” the official said, “that was her office stick to what she is focused on, which is using Be Best for what it’s intended — to help children.”

And I came across this when looking a bit into the walk back. I’m putting up the meat of the article. More at the link.

Slate - Make-Believe Mutiny

Maybe I was less cynical then, or wrong—or maybe times have changed. In the past week, both Melania and Ivanka Trump have burnished their reputations as the smarter, better Trumps by contradicting the president’s views in public. The first lady’s spokeswoman made a statement in support of LeBron James on Saturday, several hours after Donald Trump implied in a tweet that the basketball star, who is set to open a groundbreaking public school for at-risk students in his Ohio hometown, is stupid. And Ivanka, in a Thursday conversation with Mike Allen of Axios, said that journalists are not the “enemy of the people” her father claims they are and that she is “very vehemently against family separation,” referring to the zero-tolerance immigration policy her father’s administration masterminded.

These statements can be read two ways. The first aligns with the liberal fantasy of Melania as a captive #resistance fighter—see: the obsession with an Inauguration Day gif of her smile turning into a frown the second Donald looks away—and the center-right fantasy of Ivanka as a steady, compassionate hand helping to guide an out-of-control presidency. From this perspective, Melania and Ivanka are nearly as frustrated with Donald’s cruelty and lack of decorum as his detractors. Whenever they decide to speak out against him, it is with great bravery, a strategic deployment of political capital to change his mind or the minds of his followers.

The second interpretation and, to my mind, the correct one, is that these statements from the women closest to Donald Trump are deliberate decoys meant to soften the president’s image, conferring him humanity by association. Melania has occasionally used her platform in this way, but it has been Ivanka’s entire raison d’être in the Trump cinematic universe. Throughout Donald’s campaign and presidency, she has lent legitimacy to his most punishing policies through her tacit approval, tempering his misogyny with her hollow empowerment rhetoric and convincing journalists that she’s secretly working behind the scenes on behalf of common decency. By making public statements that gently criticize her father, and by leaking through anonymous sources that she disagrees with him, all while continuing to stand by him in every way that matters, Ivanka has helped clear the way for her father’s agenda by showing his conservative skeptics how to question but support their president, how to appear humane while never really turning on the man doing those inhumane things.

The strategy of dispatching a female family member to stage a public disagreement has historically been popular with Republican politicians. Gerald Ford, who supported a Constitutional amendment invalidating Roe v. Wade, joked that Betty Ford cost him 20 million votes when she went on 60 Minutes in 1975 to praise the Supreme Court ruling as a “great, great decision.” And before Laura, Barbara Bush criticized the GOP during George H.W. Bush’s second presidential campaign for enshrining a “fundamental individual right to life” for “the unborn child” in its party platform. The strategy neatly aligns with the right-wing model of a heterosexual partnership: The big tough man makes big tough decisions from a place of rational judgment and patriarchal authority, while the woman respectfully registers a slightly different opinion, borne of feminine emotion. He is free to take or leave her suggestion, which carries no meaningful weight or influence. If he does modify his stance to lean towards hers, he can claim that his hypermasculine immunity to empathy—a quality Republicans fetishize in their leaders—blinded him to the nuances of an issue that needed a female touch.

Belafon  Aug 6, 2018 • 5:29:58am

There’s no telling what the political effectiveness will be, but in terms of driving President Trump completely up the wall, there are few protest ideas more powerful than Rosie O’Donnell singing show tunes outside the White House. According to the Associated Press, the SMILF star and one of Donald Trump’s many, many arch-nemeses is helping recruit Broadway performers for a musical protest this coming Monday, August 6. The demonstration is being organized by host Seth Rudetsky and producer James Wesley of, appropriately enough, Sirius XM’s On Broadway….

Cue up the screaming about DEEP STATE CENSORSHIP!!! SOROS!!!! and IT’S THE JOOOOOS!!!

Facebook has banned four pages run by the American conspiracy theorist Alex Jones for “repeated violations of community standards”, the company said on Monday.

The removal of the pages - the Alex Jones Channel Page, the Alex Jones Page, the Infowars Page and the Infowars Nightly News Page - comes after Facebook imposed a 30-day ban on Jones personally “for his role in posting violating content to these pages”.

Following that suspension, a Facebook spokesperson said: “More content from the same pages has been reported to us - upon review, we have taken it down for glorifying violence, which violates our graphic violence policy, and using dehumanising language to describe people who are transgender, Muslims and immigrants, which violates our hate speech policies.”

The spokesperson noted that, despite the focus on Jones’s role in spreading conspiracy theories around events such as the 9/11 attacks and Sandy Hook school shooting, “none of the violations that spurred today’s removals were related to this”.

Facebook’s enforcement action against Jones came just hours after Apple removed Jones from its podcast directory. The timing of Facebook’s announcement was unusual, with the company confirming the ban at 3am local time.

Looks like Spotify has also taken partial action as well:

Spotify also took action against Jones on Monday, removing every episode of his podcast The Alex Jones Show from its platform. The music streaming service had previously removed specific episodes of the show, but left the bulk of the archive up, before tightening its enforcement. Spotify has still left three other Infowars podcasts live on the service, however.

Hmmm, would have thought the need to provide security clearance and detail for the POTUS would have made some coordination necessary.

I think there is a lot of posturing BS going on in all of that.

The Republicans want it both ways. They want to separate from Trump at the same time they want the votes from his backers. And not to be forgotten, they are all scared of Trump and how he can turn that base against you.

Meanwhile, as even Kasich admits…suburban white women are running away as are younger people.

And O’Connor is trying siphon conservative voters by not being too “Resistance/Pelosi” to win the seat.

And I don’t know if people realize it or not…but this all gets repeated in November. Same two candidates. It’s nuts and stupid in my opinion, but rules is rules or something.

This from ballotpedia.com

There are two elections for Ohio’s 12th Congressional District in 2018. The first, a special election on August 7, 2018, will fill the seat left vacant by Rep. Patrick Tiberi (R-Ohio). The winner of the special election will serve the remainder of Tiberi’s term until January 3, 2019. The second is the regularly scheduled general election on November 6, 2018, to elect the district’s representative for the 116th Congress, which meets from 2019 to 2021. The primaries for both elections took place on May 8, 2018.

I doubt it only because House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has very effectively ingratiated himself with Trump. Trump’s base may like Jordan because he’s 100% batshit but the GOP House members as a whole will likely choose to vote for the safer option.

From the reading that I’ve done in various cesspool site (such as freeper land and other blogs) the pro-russia right is making a distinction between the evil USSR and the wildly free, Democratic, and free-capitalist Russia. They believe that the people decrying Russia are the old cold warriors afraid of losing their power (what?) and do really believe that the left are the anti-‘mericuns ‘cause the left recognizes that Russia is out to destroy what we are. What is that old saying about third generation taking over a business? It seems to be in effect in this case.

They have problems. Some of their race attendance has been way off. The “NASCAR Dad” of GW Bush years is all but gone. America sniffed it as a huge sport and have decided to move on.

The derp is strong with so many.

They can’t separate the economy from the person, even though they did that with Obama.

They refused to give him any credit for a recovering economy, instead claiming it was shit (Trump led many of those calls).

Now, we have a strong economy that was built on Obama’s foundation, and they think nothing should happen to Trump because of the economy.

They are unrelated things. Trump engaged in multiple crimes. He’s admitted as much, but knows his base doesn’t care, and the GOP in Congress are not going to stop him unless his support craters. So the lie is enabled and the liar is coddled by a craven and corrupt GOP.

Won’t exactly help raise the price for the sale of the operation. If NASCAR didn’t have the big TV contracts through 2024 it would be going under by now. Ratings are off by 50 percent for some races from 5 years ago. I grew up around it and remember all of the big names from years gone by. But the sport went to cookie-cutter cars and abandoned tracks that formed the NASCAR base. I read where France was name-dropping Trump during his arrest. Blehhhhh!!!!

Everyone, including the US, has said Iran has abided by the terms of the JCPOA.

Doing this gives Iran every reason to quit the deal and boot the inspectors and go nuclear - it worked for North Korea.

And that’s the very rationale they would use.

Trump’s shooting himself in the foot to look strong. He can’t even do that right. It undermines our leverage and ability to act, it screws our allies, and it undermines our nuclear nonproliferation strategy. Of course Trump will blow up the deal.

He turns everything he touches to shit.

Sure, Toadi, a total shithole. That’s why SF has the highest housing costs of any metropolitan area in the US. No doubt the cokeheads burn down or wreck so many housing units that surviving units are at a premium. A still-standing house that is not infested with liberals or other vermin is so rare that it must be worth millions.

It is going to be interesting to watch if and when any Republican politicians come out to defend Alex.

As crazy as this election season is shaping up and how toxic Trump has become, ol’ Alex might find himself with no backers from the party.

Sure, he’ll get wingnuts screaming all over. And Fox crazies will probably claim it is shutting down political speech. But, I have a feeling actual Republicans will not directly back him.

Cruz has been backing him pretty vocally. We’ll see if he’s an outlier.

ICYMI last night - Anonymous has pledged to take down those behind Qanon.

The hacking collective Anonymous is pledging to expose the people behind the “QAnon” conspiracy theory.

The anarchist hacking group slammed the QAnon conspiracy as potentially dangerous and driven by a “brainless political agenda” in a video posted Sunday to what is widely considered the most reliable Anonymous Twitter account.

“We will not sit idly by while you take advantage of the misinformed and poorly educated,” the group said in the video, which was posted with the hashtags #OpQ and #OpQAnon.

The video depicts various figures with Anonymous masks acting out certain aspects of the QAnon conspiracy against a constant backdrop of the letter “Q.”

The video claims that Anonymous “knew who was responsible for Q” and thought it was funny at first. However, the group now believes the conspiracy theory has gone too far.

“Someone is going to get hurt, so we have to put our foot down and start some shit with you all,” the group said in the video.

Man, if we can rid the internet of Alex Jones and knock the wind out of Q, we’ll have gone a long way in terms of cleaning up the political landscape in this country.

Anon is not my favorite group of people, but in this case I say go for it.

I wouldn’t be surprised if QAnon started off with someone from Anonymous. He or she was probably bored and decided to indulge in a little trolling/shitposting and then it quickly spun out of control.

Anonymous is right, at least on this one: QAnon is rapidly becoming dangerous and it probably wouldn’t take a whole helluva lot for it to go from simply deranged internet postings by the Qultists to engaging in actual real-world violence against their perceived enemies.

First they claim that AJ is an inspired truth-teller, suppressed and ignored by the media and powers that be, then when confronted with something AJ said that was obviously false or when he’s sued in court, he, they, retreat to “Well c’mon nobody ever said this guy was serious, we know it’s all an act, etc”.

Conspiracy operations depend to a greater or lesser degree on defaming the innocent, from public health officials to the Apollo astronauts. Indeed, I think the vicarious sadism of this is part of its audience appeal. As the most extreme, and most prominent, of the conspiracists, Jones set the bar for what they can get away with. If he goes down, the bar has not been re-set, it has disappeared completely as far as they are concerned.* Their confidence, and their audience’s admiration for their audacity and power, will be badly shaken.

*Of course, the bar will be still be there, where it has always been, in the body of statutory and common law that deals with defamation and related issues. Lack of confidence in the legal system, courts in particular, is a hallmark of the conspiracist system however.

This is what happens when you make your son-in-law the Minister of Finance.

His tenure as energy minister saw power companies run up billions of dollars in debts as they borrowed cash to fund buyouts and expansion, while government caps on energy prices also eroded their bottom lines; the energy sector thus contributed to the Turkish currency and debt crisis of 2018.[6] He was reelected on 24 June 2018 to parliament under a new constitution.

Ah, but don’t you know, R is already on the case:

…the cryptic author went conspicuously silent for several weeks in July. During Q’s absence, another mysterious prophet, named R (“R is the letter in the alphabet after Q,” the Beast explains), began to post on the same forum, claiming that JFK Jr. faked the plane crash and then began secretly working to put Trump in the White House and destroy the Clinton/Illuminati/vampire cabal…

(and then my favorite part of this hilarious Q-review)

In the nine-month history of Q posts, these last revelations have been among the most incredible. Some wept when they learned of them. Certain minor complications later cropped up, including: Q returned from hiatus and denounced R. Also, that is not actually a picture of John F. Kennedy Jr.’s gravesite. But these are mere thorns in the white rabbit’s paw. We can all see the general gist of the truth.

Again, he is a successful performance artist. He enjoys watching people react to him when they take his provocations seriously

Governor Jerry Brown must allow the Free Flow of the vast amounts of water coming from the North and foolishly being diverted into the Pacific Ocean. Can be used for fires, farming and everything else. Think of California with plenty of Water - Nice! Fast Federal govt. approvals.

a free flow of water from the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers is needed to keep the San Francisco Bay properly flushed out or it will turn into a giant open sewer.

So. Cal has been eyeing that water for decades now…

Not a single thing Trump stated in that tweet is accurate. Nothing stops firefighters to draw off water to fight the fires or to do what is needed to protect residents from the fires.

It’s all bulkshit all the time from Trump.

Betty Cracker has a post up that’s well worth reading: balloon-juice.com. In part it talks about Amusing Ourselves to Death, written by Neil Postman. This is one of many things said in the book that is important:

To be unaware that a technology comes equipped with a program for social change, to maintain that technology is neutral, to make the assumption that technology is always a friend to culture is, at this late hour, stupidity plain and simple.

This was written back in the 80s about television, but obviously applies to the internet.

Most certainly, especially the young and university-educated.

Czech Republic has a fairly positive rep among a certain segment of Turkish youth…..after all, it’s not a secret that Czech Republic is the most staunchly secular country in Europe. Hell, it’s considered one of the most atheistic countries in the world.

The Minister of Education here noted last year that they’d seen a pretty significant increase of Turkish students coming to study here in the last two years. Not surprisingly, it really took off after the attempted coup d’etat in 2016.

Note that the “anti-Q” side of the batshit civil war includes some of the most inside of the conspiracy insiders, Prosobiec, Cosi, Jones etc. I think they know something about Q’s identity, associations if not the name itself, and they saw early that it was going to blow up in the faces of the conspiracy culture.
