Watching local Columbus news and it appears a whole lot of people are learning about gerrymandering.
In Gahana, a suburb just to the northeast of Columbus and still in Franklin county, a bunch of people came to vote and were turned away because even though they live in Gahana and vote at some of the same polling places they vote in general elections, they were in fact not in the Ohio 12th district.
The people at the polling paces had to go over the maps and show how split the district is in their community.
One video showed a poll worker explaining how one little sub division is not in the district while all around it is.
People gotta learn what the fuck is going on.

Heard a stat about Ohio District 12. It has only had one two year term by a Democrat since 1939. And that was Bob Shamansky who BeachDem mentioned was her Rep back in 1981 to 1983. Then came Kasich for 9 terms and Tiberi for 8.
So for this race to be a dead heat is something to be considered. And yes, I hope O’Connor still wins it.

This would be a bigger win than the Lamb win in PA. This district as you and BD have gotten at has no Democratic heritage in the slightest. Anyhow, O’Connor is more conservative than I would ideally like but I’d rather him than his opponent without even thinking about it. We need to be competitive everywhere and OH-12 being winnable is proof we’re doing something right.

Because they’re little boys in adults bodies. I don’t know about you but I like sharing my hobbies with people. I like talking about music with people of all ages and backgrounds, I like sharing my genealogical research with people as young as my niece and as old as my grandmother, and I love to sit down to a baseball game with anyone and just explain the finer nuances of the game.

Yep—Bob was the only Dem rep I ever had. Before I lived in the 12th, I was in the 15th and had Chalmers P. Wylie (now THAT’S A NAME you probably haven’t heard in a while!)
