Game Changer: Trump’s Chief Financial Officer Allen Weisselberg Given Immunity by Prosecutors to Testify

Politics • Views: 32,352

And another big shoe drops: Trump Org CFO Allen Weisselberg given immunity by prosecutors to testify.

The longtime chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, Allen Weisselberg, was given immunity by federal prosecutors in New York during the course of the Michael Cohen investigation, according to two people with knowledge of the matter.

The news was first reported Friday by The Wall Street Journal.

Weisselberg is “Executive 1” on page 17 of the criminal information filed by prosecutors in the Michael Cohen case, a person with knowledge of the matter told NBC News.

According to prosecutors, Cohen, then Trump’s attorney, sent an invoice to Executive 1, meaning Weisselberg, for “Payment for services rendered for the month of January and February, 2017,” a payment that was really meant to reimburse Cohen for a payment to Stormy Daniels.

Weisselberg then sent the invoice to another Trump Organization executive via e-mail directing him to “Please pay from the Trust. Post to legal expenses. Put ‘retainer for the months of January and February 2017’ in the description.”

Somebody needs to respond to each of these developments by reading Donald’s favorite little parable “The Snake” to him.

Because this is hot snake-on-snake action right now.

lawhawk  Aug 24, 2018 • 12:28:34pm

Trump’s hoping people blame China or NK for his failure on North Korea, all while using that to deflect attention from fact his longtime CFO just flipped and will turn state’s evidence for prosecutors (and this directly means assistance in both SDNY and likely helps state prosecutors).

That latter bit means any Trump pardon threats wont help. The federal charges - likely including massive amounts of tax fraud, falsifying tax returns, omitting key data, etc. - all have state level equivalents.

NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance takes these things seriously.

Prosecutors don’t just give these deals to anyone. They have to get something of substantial value in return. And that means mapping out Trump’s finances and where the money is coming from and where it’s going.

For those of us who have been saying this was going to happen all along, it’s gratifying to see it finally start to play out.

There’s zero reason for anyone to be blindsided by any of this. Anyone saying that they’re blindsided are kidding themselves or lying. That includes Trumpworld too.

They knew or had every reason to know this was an outcome. Weisselberg was either going to get indicted directly or flip.

He flipped.

And now Trump’s flipping out because his longtime personal attorney and his longtime financial officer are cooperating with the feds.

OUTGOING payments BY the clinton campaign TO fusiongps
OUTGOING payments BY the DNC TO fusiongps
acknowledged, above board, recorded and REPORTED to the FEC as necessary / required

cohen/trump scam was an IN-KIND contribution TO the campaign paid ON BEHALF of the campaign and NOT by the campaign. then HIDDEN in an attempt to NOT BE DISCOVERED.

NOT reported to the campaign as a contribution in-kind

Watching haters wonder why Gambino got the game locked
Half-Thai thickie, all she wanna do is Bangkok
Got her hair done, French braids, now she A$AP
Bino so insensitive, she asking, “Why you say that?!”
I’m chillin’, real nigga feeling
Rich kid, asshole: paint me as a villain
Still spitting that cash flow: DJ Khaled
I got a penthouse on both coasts, pH balance
Real nigga, I rep those, why though? Cause I said so
Hip deep in the Pepto, I got five on her like Ben Folds
I got more tail than that PetCo, you faker than some Sweet’N Low
Yeah, you got some silverware, but really are you eating though?
Are you eating though? Nigga, are you eating though?
Breakfast, lunch and dinner’s for beginners, you ain’t even know
Never catching cases, why they faces look so e-m-o?
Watch a hater hate me, wanna play me like a piano
My architect know Japanese, yo’ girl, she chalky knees
No hands like soccer teams and y’all fuck boys like Socrates
You niggas ain’t copping these, niggas ain’t looking like me
Nah, I ain’t checking I.D. but I bounce ‘em with no problem

Went to go look, I was off by four years:

1974: Equal Credit Opportunity Act passes in the US. Until then, banks required single, widowed or divorced women to bring a man along to cosign any credit application, regardless of their income. They would also discount the value of those wages when considering how much credit to grant, by as much as 50%.

I realize that discredits my whole argument, but I wanted to set the record straight. (I think I quoted the date correctly to my mom when I had that discussion because it was something I had read recently.)

To answer your first question, it doesn’t appear to be so (not that I have seen.) The Secret Service does perform law enforcement duties (originally being the enforcement arm of the Treasury Department), so to echo re: #138 Aucun pays pour les vieux ennemis, there would probably be some interesting back-and-forth, but the Secret Service would probably make the arrest.

Directly from the Secret Service website:

What legal authority and powers do Secret Service agents have?
Under Title 18, Section 3056, of the United States Code, agents and officers of the United States Secret Service can:

Carry firearms
Execute warrants issued under the laws of the United States
Make arrests without warrants for any offense against the United States committed in their presence, or for any felony recognizable under the laws of the United States if they have reasonable grounds to believe that the person to be arrested has committed such felony
Offer and pay rewards for services and information leading to the apprehension of persons involved in the violation of the law that the Secret Service is authorized to enforce
Investigate fraud in connection with identification documents, fraudulent commerce, fictitious instruments and foreign securities and
Perform other functions and duties authorized by law
The Secret Service works closely with the United States Attorney’s Office in both protective and investigative matters.

When it comes to the potential arrest of the President of the United States, it would mostly be in the paperwork of the thing, and making sure all the relevant formalities were followed.

You know, Mr. Weisselberg looks like the perfect person to be in a courtroom explaining a bunch of dodgy numbers and then looking over his bookish glasses when asked to point to the man that gave him the directions to do what he was doing.

“Mr. Donald Trump”

Can you identify him for the court?

“He’s the rather large, slightly orange man sitting in front of me at the defense table. I know him well, I did many questionable accounting practices in my years with Mr. Trump. At his direction and against my better judgment, of course.”

So if Pelosi becomes Speaker next year, the 67th vote to remove Trump from office, which would be cast by a Republican, would make Pelosi President (assuming there is no VP).

We often forget how much progress has been made within our lifetimes. Cripes, it was only 1965 that Griswold v Connecticut made it legal for married couples to use contraception.

And it was 1972 when Eisenstadt v. Baird said that unmarried women could also get contraception…

Dammit, Jeff, your church is overstepping its boundaries by sending out an email to every Mormon in Utah who has an email account on file with the church to tell them to vote no on Proposition 2, which would legalize medical cannabis.

And then you come up with this kind of stupid. If you don’t watch out, your church is really going to be called “Zionology”. [Background on that—the head of the Mormon church said last week that the church should be called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on first mention and ‘The Church” or “The Church of Jesus Christ” on second. Of course that’s pretentious as hell, so wags have been coming up with other names. The ones that appear to be sticking are “The church formerly known as Mormon” and “Ziontology.”]

He visited Nationwide Children’s Hospital. It’s not far from my house. There were some hospital staff that weren’t real keen on his and Melania’s visit.

If no one has heard, Zach Klein, our city attorney, is one of the many attorneys from several cities that have joined into a lawsuit going against Trump for ignoring the law of the land; the ACA.

He was pretty critical of Trump showing up at a place where a lot of sick kids from young families struggle to afford healthcare and many will have a lifetime of preexisting conditions.

Yeah it is a beautiful, modern, all new, huge hospital complex. And, it is filled with a lot of very sick little kids which makes it very real. Trump’s wife wants to be seen there for the great work they do. Be best.

I think the point was that their use in relatively low-speed (urban/cruiser environments) would be a distinct advantage.

It’s certainly not a competitive tire, unless they can toughen it be a useful trail tire.

We have a flash flood warning in effect until 6 AM. Hasn’t rained at all, so far. But it’s been rumbling for about an hour. Mr. w just called to say the system is forming right above us. He spent enough time in the Navy to have some meteorological abilities.

Urban / cruiser is where mass is especially unwanted, because the cyclist has to frequently accelerate, stop and accelerate again. The only time increased mass at the rim is really an advantage is during time trials, and only then when it’s in the form of an aerodynamic rim shape that reduces drag.

Folks around here mow their lawns obsessively. Day, night, rain, sun, or snow. Many of the yards up the hill here, where I live, have sprinkler systems that run on a pre-set schedule no matter the moisture level. My yard? It’s half weeds and I haven’t mowed it in almost a month because it hasn’t been growing.

Talking about Urban Meyer, after what OSU did, is a zero sum game. There is nothing you can safely say.

I mean,

“I’m glad Urban Meyer accepted that his assistant coach had to be let go and he, personally, needed to be suspended without pay for 1/4 of the season because that assistant coach routinely beat the fuck out of his wife.

This was known well before Urban was hired and brought the abuser with him to OSU. Urban’s wife was close with the abused wife, and had to know, and tell, Urban about the abuse. I mean, how does a wife not do that?

But fortunately, Urban did nothing, He had to protect a program that was winning National Championships. Now that appropriate punishment has been delivered, let’s all move on and Go Buckeye Nation!”

You raised the question, and I will answer it. A wife doesn’t do that if she knows it will anger her husband, make him fly off the handle at her. Especially in the conservative Midwest, a woman is trained to please her husband and that if he gets mad at her, it’s her fault and she did something wrong.

He’s stubborn. He’s vernacular is basic.

But, at the end of the day, he is cleaner and better than sewage swamp that is going on in Washington. I will continue to support him. I will bet that he will have people that will continue to do that. I am looking forward to the showdown actually.
