And Chris Cilizza once again comes through with BLAZING political insight.

Also:

Bernie aside, my man Bakari Sellers is and has been all in for Gillum, and Bakari seems to have pretty good political instincts.

I looked at the dates of Cascadia earthquakes from the article you cited. The Pacific Northwest hasn’t been peaceful for a significantly longer period of time than it currently has been for the last 6,000 years. A major quake could hit at anytime, and is almost certain to do so within the next 27 years. If I lived up there, I’d move.

They are living on borrowed time. Its been 318 years since the last quake, and the previous 18 all occurred less than 300 years after the one before.

Foxconn pledges $100 million matching gift to UW-Madison to establish new research enterprise

Foxconn Technology Group on Monday pledged up to $100 million to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, including funding to help establish a new interdisciplinary research facility for the College of Engineering that will collaborate with the company’s planned manufacturing complex in southeast Wisconsin.

Foxconn Chairman and founder Terry Gou was on campus to make the announcement at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery alongside UW Chancellor Rebecca Blank and several campus deans from colleges that stand to benefit.

To receive the full $100 million from Foxconn, UW must raise another $100 million in private gifts over the next two years as part of a broader, $3.2 billion fundraising campaign dubbed All Ways Forward.

Iron Hands

The Iron Hands are a Loyalist Space Marines Chapter and one of the original First Founding Space Marine Legions created from the gene-seed of their martyred Primarch, Ferrus Manus. Like the other Loyalist Astartes Legions, the Iron Hands would later be divided up after the Horus Heresy into multiple different Chapters, as required by the Codex Astartes, although one Chapter of the original Legion remained known as the Iron Hands and is described below. Although unwavering in their faith in the Emperor of Mankind and His dream of human unity as embodied in the Imperium of Man, the Iron Hands also believe that human flesh is weak and easily corruptible, and strive to replace their organic bodies with more “pure” bionic substitutes, thus closely emulating the faith of the Adeptus Mechanicus’ Cult of the Machine.

Well, my proposal was opening our arms to every single Syrian refugee that wanted to come here and actively assist them in getting here, but that’s just me. I’m sure bombs are the better answer.

Europe, and especially Germany, is still staggering under the weight of refugees it has already taken in (nearly one million in Germany); there have been some incidents including a Mollie Tibbets-like murder involving a Syrian refugee and several incidents of knifings involving refugees that are fueling right-wing sentiments and demonstrations as well, so if someone with a dark Machiavellian streak wanted to see Europe turn more right, then the best thing to do would be to send more war refugees their way…

Gary, Indiana has lost over a third of its population.

And for refugees of Aleppo it would look a lot like the city they left

(meant only semi-ironically, large stretches of Gary truly look like an abandoned post-nuclear wasteland)

Merkel did the right thing, but instead of taking on unlimited numbers, she should have done more to get the rest of Europe to assume a share of the burden collectively. Some nations have taken few or no refugees at all, such as Hungary or the UK.

There is no way that German authorities could keep deal with such a large and sudden influx without there being incidences of crime, abuse and corruption. And those are being played up large by the Right-Wing opposition.

So much time has elapsed that it would be difficult to take such claims as credible even from a reliable source. Hillary’s emails are now largely public and those that aren’t are subject to politically motivated leaking.

Cross your fingers folks, oldest cat goes in for jaw surgery.

Fingers crossed for your kitty.

Our Trixie is currently sleeping on my lap. As some of you might remember, she was hit in the head with a falling box and it rendered her right eye sightless. We had her slated for surgery to remove the eye, but as cats often do she stopped eating in the animal hospital, and the doctor wouldn’t perform the surgery if she wasn’t sufficiently nourished.

We elected to bring her home and try to get her appetite back up, and it’s been successful. She’s back to eating regularly, thank dog. The attending doctor is on vacation this week, so we’ll schedule the surgery after she’s back. My wife and I were extremely impressed with how much she seemed to care about this little cat, and although we could have scheduled the surgery with another doctor, we’re going to wait for the first doc to come back.

At any rate, it’s nice to have this little one sleeping on my lap. She’s a tough one.

The latter was apparently put out, or thrown out of her house here in the neighborhood and as my one neighbor already has a full house of animals I agreed to take her, bringing my feline overlord population back up to 5. 5 is really more than I would like but what can you do. Yeah, just like Bush/Cheney did with the New York Times to get into a war with Iraq.

Get some crank like Ahmed Chalabi to be a source. Have someone in the media like Judith Miller make that source seem legit to tell the story Bush/Cheney wants told in The Times, then go on national TV to say the media is reporting (what we want to report) to get a war started.

It’s the ‘unredacted’ part that stuns me. Those forms should never see the light of day without redactions. It’s either a monumental fuckup on the part of USPS, or someone is fucking with her. And given this administration’s attitude and conduct, I’m leaning towards the latter.

There was a quote from an article about John McCain and his views on patriotism>

What McCain understood above all was that American patriotism is different from the patriotism of other countries. It’s not about loving your country because you were born here. It’s about loving what this country, in particular, stands for. … Reducing love of America to tribalism is, in McCain’s words, “as unpatriotic as an attachment to any other tired dogma of the past that Americans consigned to the ash heap of history.”

Once in a while, when he was moving around and could not hear or tell where you were, he would let out a meow. You just had to call back and he would find his way to you.

Turns out NJ might be seeing the warmest August on record, thanks to the high humidity all month long that has prevented temps from dropping off overnight.

Oh and it fits the global warming climate change pattern we’ve seen globally:

New Jersey’s warm temperatures is in line with global trends. Since record keeping began in 1895, nine of the 16 warmest Augusts have occurred since 2001.

The longterm warming trend globally will bring warmer ocean temperatures, cause ice sheets to melt, and contribute to sea level rise, experts say. Storms will also be able to dump greater amounts of rain, since warmer air can hold more moisture.

But climate change won’t only cause more intense storms. Even storms with less intensity will be able to cause more flooding and storm surge damage because of sea level rise.

“We’ve had a plethora of warm summers over the past two decades,” Robinson said of the trend in New Jersey. “This fits rights in to the climate change conversation.”

From people whose candidate is from Calgary. PS how many of Texas’s counties has Zodiac visited? You sound scared. I guess I would be too knowing that I can’t just be a R anymore and assume re-election.

I can’t take him serious then when he criticizes the Iranian ayatollahs if he’s willing to invite these dipshits.

I’m curious, do book stores sell the New York Times Magazine? I want to pick up a copy that has Riz Ahmed’s interview to send to an Asian friend in London since she’s good friends with Riz. Since she sent out the copy of British GQ with him on it, I must return the favor to her.

In order to work in Trumpworld, you’ve got to have tapes. That seems to be the thing.

Comey may be the only one who didn’t have tapes (but he did take copious notes).

but the yam tweeted that Comey should hope there are no tapes…wink, wink.

It’s included with the Sunday paper; I don’t think it’s sold separately.

Oh my! Beto O’Rourke was young once!!!

That’ll be a political career killer.

In comparison though I suppose there is a contrast with Ted Cruz who seems to have always been an asshole, stuffed-shirt, ol’ fart Republican even at age 10.

Some bookstores carry the Times so it might be available on Sunday.

Wait for it:

He may have been told but he didn’t understand…
He was so new at all this

I hope we all understand that when it’s all said and done that Trump will be declared not mentally competent to be guilty of any of the crimes he’s accused of. I feel like that’s what it’s being built towards.

Life is political. I have a heart condition by no fault of my own so yeah issues like preexisting conditions matter to me. I’m on the spectrum. Protection against discriminatory practices matters. The people who want you to shut up about politics or stop with “identity politics “ are the people who at the end of the day aren’t adversely impacted by demagogues like Trump. It’s no coincidence to me that Clinton’s coalition of voters saw the danger of Trumpism far more than Sanders’ who btw still doesn’t get it since he’s calling issues that matter to PoC, women, etc issues that don’t impact the average American. I’m not gay but attacks on LGBT rights are an attack on all of our rights.

Hillary Clinton’s Emails, many of which are Classified Information, got hacked by China. Next move better be by the FBI & DOJ or, after all of their other missteps (Comey, McCabe, Strzok, Page, Ohr, FISA, Dirty Dossier etc.), their credibility will be forever gone!

— Donald J. Trump

Wouldn’t the next move be yours, taking action against China, for hacking a SoS’s servers?
