Tweets Discovered Between Brett Kavanaugh’s High School Friend Mark Judge and Infamous Far Right Troll Chuck C. Johnson

Politics • Views: 54,609

Mark Judge, the high school drinking buddy of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, is now known to have published an article at the blog of notorious Holocaust denier Chuck C. Johnson (who is NOT ME). Judge’s article was an attempt to cast doubt on the woman who was the subject of Rolling Stone’s now-retracted article about an alleged gang rape at UVA — written long before Rolling Stone’s retraction.

(It makes perfect sense that Chuck C. Johnson would want to publish this sort of piece, because he’s long been obsessed with smearing and doxing rape victims.)

Mark Judge himself is now accused of taking part in the alleged sexual assault by Kavanaugh of Christine Blasey Ford, who is now a professor at the University of Palo Alto. According to the Washington Post:

Ford said she was able to escape when Kavanaugh’s friend and classmate at Georgetown Preparatory School, Mark Judge, jumped on top of them, sending all three tumbling.

Today I was given a tip about a cache of tweets between Mark Judge and Chuck C. Johnson that contain some very interesting comments in light of these accusations, and illustrate the connections between the neo-fascist far right and people like Judge who maintained a “journalist” facade by writing for outlets like the Daily Caller.

These tweets come from Chuck C. Johnson’s long deleted Twitter archive; a few days ago Johnson abruptly shut down both his Facebook page and his GotNews website, with no explanation. But his personal website is still online and one of the sections is a copy of all his tweets, going back to 2009. (Don’t be surprised if this disappears too, after I publish this article.)

So here are the tweets in question, starting with Chuck reaching out to Judge when he hears about Judge’s piece attacking the Rolling Stone article. (They’re in text form because Johnson’s Twitter account was permanently suspended, of course. And Mark Judge has now also deleted his entire Twitter account.)

Most of these are retweets; Johnson retweeted Mark Judge many times. Among other subjects, Judge pushes articles he wrote titled “Why Are Men Committing Suicide?” and “Women Who Emotionally Abuse Men,” and links to a video at Vimeo (now deleted) showing “Chuck C. Johnson in bed with bikini models.”

There’s no smoking gun related to the current controversy here, but it shines a bright light on the kind of people in Brett Kavanaugh’s inner circle and the toxic “men’s rights” culture they were steeped in, and shows why the GOP doesn’t want Judge to testify.

It takes a sick amount of partisan depravity to stand by with the man who wanted to execute the Central Park Five after they were cleared and then to tell us “Oh it happened years ago, it doesn’t really matter” or “Should this even disqualify him?”? Yes it should. If it had been known about years ago, maybe he doesn’t get the cushy Yale scholarship, the Yale JD, the jobs with Starr and Bush, etc. They talk about him being “punished” for his past when he’s never as far as I known faced any accountability until now.

Gov. Walker and Lt. Gov Mallott (I) are in a tight 3-way race for re-election. Former Senator Mark Begich jumped in the race as a Democrat in the primaries.
With the 3 way split vote, the Republican has a good chance of wining. The polls show Walker, in a head to head race with the Republican, wins handily. So far, Begich has refused to withdraw. These 3 way races are the doom for Alaska (see Rep. Don Young).

I didn’t think I was strongly affected by the hurricane until people started re-sharing what they were posting a year ago. It was a brutal year for most of us, even as we toughen it out. Many lives were lost, many people have been broken by it, and our outlook is looking worse every passing day.

I really hope the effort to stop Kavanaugh works. It just feels distressingly like, despite things like the #MeToo movement, we’ve actually regressed pretty hard far as how we treat sexual assault and rape, especially as a political issue. Apart from the usual double standard between how GOP scandals and Dem scandals are treated and amplified, we seem to have backslid from a sort of feigned institutional ignorance to outright open institutional contempt for victims of sexual assault, harassment, and rape. Not just dismissal, but outright contempt for them as obstacles toward unlimited power that must be politically and personally destroyed.

There just doesn’t seem to be any real consequences for perps when they’re fully inoculated by the power of GOP bad faith.

The GOP have so successfully weaponized the assumption of good faith as to permanently poison the well. It takes the Dems twice as much effort to get treated as honest actors that gets instantly ruined because the GOP gets the benefit of the doubt every time, even after they prove that they’re mendacious fucks. It’s sisyphean to the point that I understand why so many might tune out. Less apathy, and more resignation that the system is hopelessly rigged.

And the media has done its best to actively enable that kind of assumption.

Ok, not to be a dick about this, but if Walker and Mallot are independents, then what’s wrong with a Democrat being in the race? I mean, if they are independents, they are by definition not Democrats. Unless the state party is specifically endorsing the independent candidates (which occasionally happens, I suppose), it seems like being in the race is better than not being in the race.

In Colorado your party must have a candidate and if there is no candidate or if that candidate gets less than 10% of the vote (if memory serves) that removes the party from being “major party status” and then removes funding and status from the party at large in the state.

Almost happened when Hickenlooper won and the Rs were in mess (2 or 3 candidates for Gov had to drop out with scandals) with Tancredo running on the “Constitutionalists Party.” If memory serves (and to day it has not) the Rs squeaked out 11% to keep their status in the state.

Well, I’m assuming if you’re running for office, you are the person you prefer (especially if you’re running for governor or president, on some fundamental level you have to believe you’re the best person for the job). I mean, the Democratic nominee could argue that the independent candidate is splitting the vote just as easily as the independent candidate can make that claim.

I guess it’s just interesting to me when partisans decide to back independents over members of their party.

In my opinion, Gov. Walker is doing a good job given what a mess the State was in (and still is) when he took office.

Here in Alaska, the voting registrations are just about evenly divided. 1/3 Republican, 1/3 Democrat, and 1/3 Undeclared/Independent. Any time there are 2 moderate candidates (I & D) in the race, the vote split leaves the Republican the winner with a less than majority of the vote. Don Young has used this tactic for years to keep being re-elected.

This article can be a bit confusing. It is covering a period from 1982-to-2018. But, uses two different federal reporting standard definitions for ‘mass shootings’
4 or more killed per event 1982-2012 (62)
3 or more killed per event 2013-2018 (42)
The graphs included cover the 1982-2012 period, while the interactive map includes both periods, to include this morning’s shooting in Maryland.
I have to assume that the minimal numbered killed standard doe not include the perpetrator, as this list does not include the shooting here in Jacksonville last month.
It also does not include the death of an associate of mine. He and another victim were killed, as was the killer, during a workplace shooting in Marietta, GA in July 1989
This separate link, US Mass Shootings, 1982-2018: Data From Mother Jones’ Investigation shows the entire listing of events included in their database

He’s incapable of human thought. If he had the brains of a flatworm, he’d realize no matter what he says, his support is not going to go up. It maxed out on election day, 2016. What’s more, with the U.S. now the top oil-producing country in the world, lower prices could hurt the American companies — and workers — in the industry.

Our systems rely so much on at least a small amount of acting in a fair, responsible and lawful order.

Trump is against all that. He has been his whole life. All that order and doing right is for others.

Trump does what he wants and he has gotten away with so much by being brash, bold and willing to shout anyone down.

Just a sad fact that so many knew it but no matter how much of his past was brought up, people chose to ignore it.

And just as Trump is unwilling to say he was ever wrong about anything, his backers are the same when it comes to backing him.

They make a hell of a danger to this country. They are not the majority, but they are acting like it because that is what Trump does.

It’s ruined a lot of litigation because it’s not about truth or equitable outcomes, it’s just about the bottom line, and fuck those guys.

Polls have been all over the lot on that race. Quinnipiac had Cruz ahead by 9 points with “likely voters” a couple days ago. Others have been basically dead heats. It’s all about the turnout.

It’s always about turnout — and Democratic voters have traditionally had more problems with reliability; of course, part of that is our voters often have jobs that interfere with getting to the polls, especially if there isn’t any convenient early voting.

As a general rule, even if you are an attorney, you shouldn’t testify under oath (or speak to law enforcement) without an attorney present. I don’t really care much about the optics of it - especially in a partisan setting - it’s going to be what it is going to be. But they are tipping their hand here, much like “he wouldn’t flip on Trump” (implying that there are crimes Trump may have committed), by not saying something like “if Judge Kavanaugh believes he should have counsel present, that’s his right; but ultimately we believe he will provide honest and trustworthy testimony as he has done throughout the confirmation process.” It’s really not hard, and it amazes me that these idiots are this fucking bad at it.

But yeah the demographic history in Cleveland and Pittsburgh is very close which when you consider that and geography, easy to see why the football rivalry emerged. But yeah there’s a lot of Slovaks in the Cleveland area and tons of Slovenes too. In fact until Melania, the most famous Slovene-American was Frank Lausche. Oh I thought you grew up in Cleveland and relocated to Columbus. Conservative Dem politician who I read was even nearly considered by Ike for VP at one point.

Grew up south of Cleveland. Remember me talking about Isaly’s being from my hometown.

My town was a strong factory town that was killed with all the factory shut downs. Mansfield. It was as big as Youngstown at one point and as strong with manufacturing.

That’s how my Slovak grandfather came to this country. He was sponsored by a long gone pump manufacturing company in the ol’ hometown as a tool-maker specialist. Now it is deader than Youngstown. It is sad.

Also…the reason I like Sherrod Brown and know so much about him…he too is from Mansfield Ohio. We are about the same age and I still remember meeting him on his very first political run back in the 70s just after high school. he ran for a state rep seat from our area of Ohio. He was impressive back then. Son of a local well respected family doctor that many of my friends went to. One of now since passed best friends knew him very well.

To add. I checked. His first run was 1974. And I do remember meeting him at the Richland County Fair that year…it would have been late summer right before election season.

Hmmm. I remember something from that long ago. It wasn’t as traumatic and life changing as what Professor Ford went through with Brett Kavanaugh. But I do remember. I do not doubt the professor can remember very vivid details, like they happened yesterday.

It’s always about turnout — and Democratic voters have traditionally had more problems with reliability; of course, part of that is our voters often have jobs that interfere with getting to the polls, especially if there isn’t any convenient early voting.

or having precincts that Republicans have tailored in such a way to make voting for poorer people nearly impossible, like “voting only available for 30 minutes on Tuesday, if you have the red ball supplied to you for having played 18 holes of golf Monday afternoon and bested the golf pro.”

Been trying to put words together on what it is to be a rape survivor and watching what is happening to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Not just the bile and hate directed at her, the bile and hate directed at all women who speak out after sexual assault. And what it feels like to be one of those women who stayed silent…out of fear of exactly this. Not my rapist. Out of how society and the courts chew up accusers and spit them out. First rule, keep your damn mouth shut.

I’m going to have to turn it all off now. My need for feeling some kind of safe normalcy has to override my need to know what is happening. And I refuse, refuse to go into the spiral of panic attacks. No way.

I imagine there are many, many, many women feeling what I feel right now. And we are taking names.

Women with the guts to speak out are heroes. Period.
