Like I was saying this morning, I was expecting her to call the Senate GOP’s bluff and agree to testify. But she’s now backing them into the corner again by making perfectly reasonable requests, the top of which is ensuring her safety and that Kavanaugh not be in the same room. The bit about outside counsel also has to be making many (particularly Collins) sweat, as that means there’s no buffer there for them.

Having seen both Kavanaugh and Garrett, which blind fucker decided that they are doppelgangers? Because they’re not, unless you’re only looking at a jacket, tie and bad haircut.

A prosecutor can’t understand the point of running an investigation into allegations of criminal activity.

“…Confronted with the accusation, Brett Kavanaugh pretended he never met that girl at that party he never went to in the first place, much like he pretended like he had never met a lawyer from Kasowitz, Benson and Torres under questioning from Senator Kamala Harris. It was revealed soon after that one of his oldest pals is a PARTNER there, at the firm he had never heard of and could not even pronounce! “

Not that ol’ Trey seems to be the sharpest pencil in the box (never has), but I think he’s (just) smart enough to get that the whole Kavanaugh affair is basically a political/media circus: where how things actually work are WAY less important than how politicos can play into their audiences’ of mouthbreather rubes ideas of how things work.
Just smart enough….

It’s amazing how we’ve gone in the course of a week from “It never happened!” to “Okay, it happened, but here’s why he didn’t do it!”

They’re working themselves back to the point they started: “Even if he did try to rape her, it doesn’t matter! Let’s vote!”

The way things are shaping up, even if Kavanaugh is confirmed, odds are becoming better that it will be a 50/50 split with Pence casting the tie-breaking vote. The GOP are handling this whole thing in such a ham-fisted fashion that even red state Dems who felt pressured to vote for him in order to avoid looking like far-left kooks are openly reconsidering their votes.

Still bad news. Tie or not, the endgame has to have Kavanaugh’s rejection as the outcome - it may not be achieved - but that has to be the goal. Brett Kavanaugh is 53 years old: he might be on the SC for another 25-30 years. And holding a grudge all that time….

BTW: which “red state Dems” are you referring to? The only ones I have heard mentioned as having a problem with the BK confirmation are Manchin (WV) - because, well, he’s Joe Manchin; and Heitcamp (ND) because she’s running poorly in a generally red state.

Did your insurance cover it all?

My insurance did not cover rewiring the interior of my house. It did cover tearing off the circuit breaker panel and meter from the outside of the house. The electric company replaced the outside wires at their cost.

The issue with our electric bill is settled now. They charged us for 3 kWh usage in July. (They tried to claim the meter wasn’t working, so they were just going to charge us the same amount as they did last July. The meter wasn’t working because it was lying on the ground the whole month.)

And the mounting pressure is because these morons couldn’t actually treat this with respect and seriousness, but instead tried to pressure a victim with a “put up or shut up” ultimatum. It’s only been four days and already the crazies have made her seem more sympathetic by threatening her, Sen. Feinstein, and any Democrat remotely connected. If their hope was that Kavanaugh would look better by portraying all this as “unfair,” they seriously miscalculated and are going to pay for it.

Agreed. Republican “strategists” played this all wrong - starting with the 65 “well he didn’t rape me!” signatories. What a fucking joke. They tied their own hands on this, they’ve spent the past two days insisting that they’re totally cool with making her “comfortable” and want to hear her testimony. And they gave her an artificial deadline to reach out to them. If they announce tomorrow that they’re moving ahead with either a vote or the Monday hearing, then they’re gonna only deepen the hole they’re already in.

That’s some topnotch English composition right there.

Hmmm. Have they actually discovered Vulcan?

Almost three decades ago, Gene Roddenberry (producer of the Star Trek universe) wrote a letter to Sky & Telescope, along with Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics astronomers Sallie Baliunas, Robert Donahue, and George Nassiopoulos. In their Letter to the Editor, they argued that 40 Eridani A — an orange-ish star 16 light-years away — would make the ideal home for Vulcan, the home planet of Science Officer Mr. Spock.

Now, a new discovery puts a little more science into that science fiction assertion.

I have, and it’s basically gambling. You’re betting the market will go up, for example, and can lose big when it goes down, but win big if it goes up. If you can spare some cash to play with it, it could be fun, like going to the casino. But, as they say, don’t bet the ranch on it.

Oh goodie, so we at least know that there’s an intelligent species out there that thinks we’re too dumb to bother with until we invent faster-than-light travel.

This is potato. And it’s really really good. Stick it in the freezer and pour a shot. Heaven.

Franklin Graham: Attempted rape not a crime. Kavanaugh “respected” his victim by not finishing.

Weird. Fundies also think not finishing (IE spilling your seed on the ground) is also a mortal sin.

Which is based upon a gross distortion of the story of Onan.

Longing/ shorting stock trades. An example is folks who shorted marijuana stocks and then Coca-Cola got interested and the price increased 40%. They are getting pooched.

They were released on $25,000 bond. That’s outrageous after they murdered someone in cold blood.
