Looking around to see if I have any calendars from way back when I was in college decades ago… nope, can’t find any.

And, though it was a long time ago, I’m pretty sure I didn’t pencil in any college parties in a planner.

Because we didn’t do planners back in college.

I did keep a diary many years ago but now it is gone. And a planner is what I got for a college graduation gift.

Those guys (and gal) have great stories to tell.

Carol Kaye once related that she and Glen Campbell recorded ‘Last Train to Clarksville’ on a morning session, broke for lunch, then recorded ‘Strangers In the Night’ for Sinatra that afternoon.

What a time that must have been.

I was super-organized. I have calendars from college — they note midterms, finals, due dates for term papers, hard-to-get pre-scheduled lab access, friends’ birthdays, and things I bought tickets to.

They do not note the wednesday night and friday afternoon things that happened every week and I attended often; they do not note spontaneous gatherings of the “whatcha doin’ tonight, you should stop by” variety.

In high school, my only calendar was the one on the fridge that everybody in the family could see.

I just finished reading the book about a month ago.

It took me awhile because I had to go on YouTube and Google and start looking up some of the songs and people, etc.

Then it was down a rabbit hole before I’d come back to the dang book.

It was great.

I was a dweeb in HS.

I had a tiny (maybe 3 x 4 inch?) day planner that I’d keep in my pocket for homework assignments and club meetings and such.

On the rare occasions when anyone would invite me to a party, it would NOT have been something I’d have penciled in there.

And no, I have no idea where those day planners are 30+ years later. Why would I?

19

My friend R lived in the same trailer park. He was a dorky kid who collected comic books before it was cool (though not long before). Used ones were cheap enough, like 10 for a quarter, that even poor people could afford them. The socially recognized kids made fun of him. He eventually got in on the ground floor of the comic boom, set up a chain of comic book stores and became an early investor in a big video chain. He cashed out for 9 figures before the collapse in that biz. I am the only old classmate to whom he will speak.
I’ve had Republican dupes and grifters try to hold me, and him, up as examples of their bootstrap, rugged individualist philosophy of success. I will have none of it, and neither does he, since Saint Reagan and his cult have long since made that kind of mobility very nearly impossible.

The very first time I smoked pot, I sat down afterward and wrote a description of how it felt. I told my older sister that I’d done that and she yelled at me to get rid of it immediately. I did. You don’t want a record of that kind of shit, and no high school kid is going to keep records of house parties.

This whole charade is getting more odorous as it goes.

Someone open a damn window and turn on a fan.

Now we are to believe that Kavanaugh, who had a tough time remembering details in his hearing, such as did he meet with anyone from a law firm about Mueller, has all the details from 30 years ago.

And he just now remembers he has these calendars? Amazing, just as he knows there is going to be a hearing his mind grows clear.

But he did not keep any noted calendars on many of his meetings and thinking on all his past rulings. So, he struggled with some questions.

I’m sure Kamala Harris and Corey Booker and others are going to be interested in this.

re: #50 Patricia Kayden

So we are supposed to believe that a teenager kept a record of each and every party he ever attended? So what if some witness can testify that Kavanaugh attended a party that’s not marked on one of his calendars? This is becoming more bizarre by the minute.

“Dear Diary: this evening’s keg party is scheduled to run between the hours of 6 and 9 p.m., in order that I may have time to unwind for my 9:30 p.m. bedtime. Yesterday, George Judge tried to convince me to assist in a rape, but I pointed out this would be improper and immoral, as we have not yet been ordained and placed into Youth Ministry with the diocese.”

95
Targetpractice  Sep 23, 2018 • 3:43:46pm

Amazing how, now that the hearing has been confirmed as happening, suddenly Kavanaugh and/or his staff can suddenly “find” exonerating evidence after days of just relying upon his word that the party never happened…

What it says to me is he knows at this point that even a “he said, she said” spin on the whole thing looks bad for him because his word is at best suspect and at worst absolute lies by this point. Hence the concerted campaign to throw as much doubt on her word by suggesting less than perfect memory recall is somehow evidence of fabrication.

I must be an exception. Throughout my career I used monthly calendars to schedule my work activity. For some unknown reason I kept them in a folder at my desk. Many times I had to dig into them to get a date or other info of something that occurred in the past.

To make a long story short, when I retired I had a folder of calendars with 40+ years of my work history. I still have it. Might use it to write a book someday.

I’ve got journals going back to the mid-60s. My mom has the ones from junior high and high school. I’ve got every year sine 1970.

Just the outrageousness of a potential Supreme Court Justice having to go to these lengths to defend a shaky past should be telling enough about his character and disqualifying.

The GOP should be embarrassed but they are no longer capable of that. So mark them down as simply pathetic.

Keep this all in mind if there is any attempt at removal of The Big Orange Don. This will look mild, but should be a good indicator of how crazy it would be.

Okay, this is weird, even for Florida:

Guy stops his car to help another motorist.
Walks back to his car and is hit by a truck and killed.
Truck driver abandons truck and steals the guy’s car, then abandons
the car (with his/the truck driver’s wallet in it.)

Cops tag the abandoned truck at 3:40 am but don’t discover the body until 12:30 pm.

Oh, and it’s all recorded because the guy had a GoPro camera on his dash.

Annnnddd—the truck driver/killer/thief, has 16 other arrests in the county since 2005, including “criminal mischief to a place of worship,” retail theft, trespassing, neglect of a child and driving under the influence.

(But we can assume good people on both sides. Spit)
