Your shirt is white
I stole one night
To become like you

Shine in the dark
Your shirt is white
I stole it, I got it
To become like you
Shine like a diamond
Your shirt is white
I came back to the world
All for him here
Get him back
Your shirt is white
I wore it in weddings
Bride I became
And let me not marry
What is it that shines like a diamond
What shines like a glittering diamond
Your shirt is white
He took thorns
And the blood ran, sweet
And I have eyes
It’s not the shirt that shines
What shines like a glittering diamond

Who thinks Kavanaugh survives until next Friday? Anybody?

As a candidate, he’s dead meat. The FBI review will include financials which the non-existent best vetting ever did not include before his nomination.

Who paid for his $95,000 country club entry fee? Who paid off the $200,000 in Baseball Ticket debt (read: gambling debts) which magically disappeared from his credit cards?

Man, I wish I could have 300 large suddenly dumped into my lap just before I was nommed to the SCOTUS!

That would be outstanding! Not like it meant I owed anything to anybody. It’s good to have friends with deep pockets.

But it seems a little hinckie, doesn’t it? Maybe something at which the FBI should take a look?

(The lengths I go to avoid a dangling participle are legion.)

I’m not convinced that this particular investigation will find anything openly illegal…and it will take at least that to hurt this nomination. But we’ll see.

Look what’s happened to his public image in the last week. (I know it seems like a year—the next week is going to be even longer!) And that’s without the FBI getting involved. The Swetnick story will come out over the weekend.

And check me if I’m wrong, but any FBI investigation won’t start until Monday at the earliest, and that’s when the clock starts. Mitch couldn’t bull a floor vote through until a week from Tuesday—banana slugs will have evolved into sentient beings and taken over the world by then.

Yeah I’m not at all hopeful. This is really just a cynical tactic intended to put some time and mental distance between the stark contrast between Ford’s imminently believable testimony vs Kavanaugh’s absolutely atrocious tantrum, and the final vote. The FBI has to dig in hard if they’re going to stop him, and to my mind the best way to do that is to somehow get and release some purposefully hidden documents from the National Archives unequivocally proving that he committed perjury.

They aren’t looking at his finances. They already did a background check. It has been reopened to look at the specific issue of these allegations and I am not at all confident they are going to find anything like a smoking gun.

No, they didn’t. The $300,000 in recent “gifts” to him were not considered, because this Assminstration didn’t run a new check since he got elevated to the DC Circuit.

That’s the point. They talk about “six FBI checks”, but one wasn’t done for the SCOTUS nom.

I think you’re right. The only way Grassley/McConnell/Trump go along with this is if the whip count was <50. This next week is either about getting the vote count to 50 (I’ve no idea what number they’re at right now) or finding a new nominee. What I’d really love is for a Republican Senator to come out and say that Kavanaugh’s tirade yesterday was completely out of line for someone nominated to the Supreme Court and they are an absolute no vote. But that’s as likely as me winning the powerball without buying a ticket. Instead we will have to see how this whole thing plays out and whether Flake/Murkowski/Collins hold firm.

As someone downstairs pointed out, you can’t gerrymander out white women while you’re gerrymandering in all those white men. It’s a truism that the tighter a gerrymander is, the more brittle it is, but that doesn’t even take a serious gender divide into account. Either the dikes will hold, or they won’t—and if they don’t, it’s blue all over everything.

Actually I am nearly certain one of those background checks was specifically for the supreme court nomination as a background check is pretty much a matter of course for any high level government position so I would need you to cite a valid source before I would believe that.

And if that was going to happen it already would have. Flake voted Kavanaugh out of committee then announced his fucking intention to vote for Kavanaugh on the floor and the only thing that seems to have stopped him was getting stuck in that elevator and absolutely RIPPED APART on national television by sexual assault survivors. So none of these assholes are covering themselves in glory here, and it’s pretty clear to me that they’re still looking for a way to vote yes and hope that the FBI gives it to them by issuing an equivocal report that tells them nothing new.

All I could find with a quick search was this Vox article:

Since then, however, as administrations have sought to expedite the nomination process, these checks tend to happen later on in the process. Kavanaugh’s background check was completed before his September confirmation hearing, according to Judiciary Committee spokesperson Taylor Foy. Foy added that most Supreme Court nominee checks are usually finished before a confirmation hearing takes place.

It was quite high prior to the recent hearings. something like 80% of republicans, 60% of independants and 40% of Dems. I am sure it is lower now, but haven’t seen recent polling.

I don’t disagree, but then again, the recently revealed financial problems haven’t been mentioned, have they? Why not, unless they were not investigated? That’s kind of a QED.

One thing about the financial problems, is on the financial disclosure forms they only need to disclose a range. I believe they disclosed debts between $60,000 and $200000. That’s a pretty big range and I am not sure how it became a fact that he owed $200000.

Bill Montgomery, the county attorney here in Maricopa County (aka Phoenix, Arizona) is on record about the Kavanaugh thing, and it’s not pretty. He was also an ally of Joe Arpaio.

And this is why Rachel Mitchell should never have been allowed to question Dr. Ford.

And I’m off for the rack. Sweet scaly dreams to everyone on this board.

Kavanaugh, at this point, is a pork roast hissing and popping on a rotisserie over an open flame.

The Dems loathe him for the drunky/rapey monster that he is, and the R’s are terrified that he’s going to kill the brand in the mid-terms, especially in the suburbs, where they have gerrymandered the shit out Congressional districts. Oops.

All in all, I think this was a damn fine ending to another infrastructure week.

It seems to me that Kavanaugh is increasingly vulnerable. The extra week allows more issues to come out. And more people an opportunity to their swing at this fiasco of a pinata. Don’t know if that will be enough to end his nomination, though.

I suspect that Kavanaugh’s tantrum at the end of the Thursday hearing and his complete disrespect of several senators, particularly Senator Klobuchor may have cost him support in the Senate. Above and beyond the lying, perjury, alcoholism, misogyny, financial corruption, crass partisanship, and sexual assault charges.

And Senator Flake realized that he was going to be continually accosted by people protesting that this unpopular nominee was being shoved down their throats. If Flake has any national pretensions, he needed to find a way to end that.

Cruz, McConnell and Nielsen already found out that people in this democracy will register their disagreement at authoritarians not “ramming things through”.

I also suspect that Kavanaugh’s behavior has also allowed Democratic Senators from Red states a lot more freedom to oppose his nomination.

BREAKING: A U.S. appeals court throws out a jury’s verdict that Led Zeppelin did not copy an obscure 1960s instrumental for the intro to its classic 1971 rock anthem “Stairway to Heaven.” apne.ws

There is a lot more to this case than just the fact that the two songs sound very similar; Led Zeppelin toured with the band Spirit in 1968 and in the liner notes of their album, they mention that Jimmy Page was very interested in their song “Taurus” (the one in question) and even jammed on it with them.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders are two of the biggest names in Democratic politics. Watch The Point with Chris Cillizza on YouTube to break down what they do — and don’t — stand for.

They are big on painting the Democrats as a party that is veering hard left. Makes good copy. And makes life easier for the GOP to paint them as dangerous radicals out to Make America Awful Again.

It’s messed up big time. And of course she went to RW outlets to say it. I don’t know what happened either but she really I think showed something very ugly true or not by going along with Trump’s game. I don’t expect have her to backed HRC but she happily was used by Trump, who has plenty of sexual assault allegations himself. And FNC has the nerve to accuse the left of politicizing anything and they pull this crap along with the douche who said Ford should have kept her legs closed. And I completely agree, no empathy for a fellow survivors. I’d take her much more seriously if she didn’t employ a twisted standard.

I think the time is now when tRump and company realize that putting down and bad mouthing the FBI was a real bad idea.

Morning!

I am hearing that Kavanaugh’s college classmates are beginning to come out of hiding now and talking about those great college times that Brett enjoyed.

That is if he remembers those times.

Apparently they do and are now willing to share.

Does anyone think if it comes out he was a sloppy drunk in college and drank way more then he has let on, will it be enough to be considered perjury since he was less then forthcoming about it?

I think it definitely goes to character issues, but character issues is a judgement call not a legal one like a perjury charge.

While this point may well be true, what gives me a faint glimmer of hope is that the converse is, IMO, equally likely: that stalling the floor nomination vote by waiting on the FBI might be a way to give GOPers an excuse to vote “no”. Maybe.

It is astonishing how badly the Senate Republicans have botched this nomination: they really seem to have utterly misjudged how Thursday’s hearings would play out. Not only showing up Christine Ford as a sympathetic and credible witness - and Brett Kavanaugh as an arrogant angry asshole-on-wheels- but how their (and Trump’s) immediate triumphalist gloating about how BK had “won them over” and rushed to a vote would play out. That Kavanaugh’s rants would stoke the flames of opposition into a “firenado” seems never to have occurred to them. And their attitude that public opinion/opposition was a irrelevance didn’t help, either.

Just remember what the GOP did to Obama and his nominee, Merrick Garland. Anything the Dems to do the GOP and Kavanaugh (namely, exposing his lack of character and qualifications for a lifetime appointment to a Constitutional body) is more than fair play.

125
jaunte  Sep 29, 2018 • 7:46:44am

“…in May 2006, as Republicans hoped to finally push Kavanaugh’s nomination across the finish line, the ABA downgraded its endorsement.

The group’s judicial investigator had recently interviewed dozens of lawyers, judges and others who had worked with Kavanaugh, the ABA announced at the time, and some of them raised red flags about “his professional experience and the question of his freedom from bias and open-mindedness.”

“One interviewee remained concerned about the nominee’s ability to be balanced and fair should he assume a federal judgeship,” the ABA committee chairman wrote to senators in 2006. “Another interviewee echoed essentially the same thoughts: ‘(He is) immovable and very stubborn and frustrating to deal with on some issues.’”

A particular judge had told the ABA that Kavanaugh had been “sanctimonious” during an oral argument in court. Several lawyers considered him inexperienced, and one said he “dissembled” in the courtroom.”

Not to be dismissive of the accusations made by Dr Ford and others, but unfortunately the issue of sexual assault now consumes 100% of the oxygen in the room. Democrats are necessarily leaving other important ones on the side of the road, such as Kavanaugh’s personal finances.

10:34 AM - Sep 29, 2018

I’m not sure he is take is a good one. It was the sexual assault that bought them the time to get here.

Now that it is in the public mind and they have a lot of America debating it, the Democrats can move into things like his heavy drinking and his finances. And who knows, with a little time, they may find something else.

I think the personal finances could be damning, but would it have created the stir the assault allegations did to drag this out for more time?

I don’t question what the Democrats did because it worked.

And, if we find the GOP 11 hid some of the details of the assault allegations and knew the problems it would present for their frat boy judge it will not only hurt Kavanaugh, it further hurts the Republicans.

Now that it is in the public mind and they have a lot of America debating it, the Democrats can move into things like his heavy drinking and his finances. And who knows, with a little time, they may find something else.

I think the personal finances could be damning, but would it have created the stir the assault allegations did to drag this out for more time?

One of the reasons Republicans punch above their weight, one of the main reasons is their ability to tightly focus. Democrats don’t do that — Democrats want to cover ALL the issues, EVERY problem, and it dilutes their effectiveness.

Just look at 2016 for a perfect example — Trump had so many scandals, so many outrages, that each got skipped over quickly because there was another problem and another one and another and another and who can even remember which one was last wednesday and which was thursday and… Hillary was e-mails e-mails e-mails e-mails, benghazi benghazi benghazi e-mails.

I see his point. We need to stress not only the sexual assault angle, but also the effortless lying, and the financial questions. There’s a pause in the action, and finally I feel like the lying and sneering disrespect in Thursday’s hearing is getting some traction. This is war. If the GOP loses Kavanaugh because of craven cowardice, not even God will help them, and the Republican base sure won’t. Grassley, McConnell, etc. have no idea the danger they are in. Confirm Kavanaugh or die.

Fischer has a point: if they dare back down on Kavanaugh, they will lose a lot of key support that they need to win.

Not to mention the “right” job experience: David Brock, as this diary at Daily Kos reminds us, got his start as a GOP hatchetman for the “Arkansas Project” and the Ken Starr inquisition against Bill Clinton. Brock’s take is that Bro Brett was a hack partisan smear-monger then, and probably hasn’t mellowed much since (he’s probably right).

10:44 AM - Sep 29, 2018

There it is, just what I was hearing.

Kavanaugh may have counted a little too much on his college friends and associates to cover for him.

It may have worked until all the other stuff has come out and they reconsidered what his partying ways actually meant.

They seem to have decided they remember more about Brett than they did at first.

Funny how that happens.

Dr. Ford spent the entirety of the morning hearing facing a prosecutor who could not poke any holes in her allegations, spending the latter half effectively being accused of being either a DNC operative or their willing dupe.

The afternoon was spent watching Kavanaugh being cagey and dissembling, before the SJC majority pushed the prosecutor aside just as she was getting somewhere in her questioning to laugh in partisan hysterics.

And the media immediately rushed to present the two of them as “equally” credible, even suggested he was more so because “I’d be angry too!” declarations from white men and “They could accuse my boys!” from white women.

I don’t think this is the case. Imagine flipping the roles here; if the Dems tried to hammer Trump’s suboptimal email management for months on end, nobody would have bit. Because nobody fucking cares about email management except sysadmins, and if you ask most email users not even then. If Clinton had had a serious verifiable scandal every few days she’d have been hounded off the stage within a week, and most of the media would be on Clinton Arrest Watch within days.

Trump’s campaign was able to make so much of a bullshit non-scandal and a beaten-to-death minor scandal because the entire system was wired, from the money men to the misogynist media bosses to the psychological war by a hostile foreign power, to hammer anything into the brains of the US consumer to hurt Clinton. The actual topic was meaningless.

You are obviously intelligent and can handle and process a lot of information. You can see facts where they are.

But you may be mistaken thinking most Americans both will bother or have the capacity to sift through it all in one big batch.

Example: We got Trump. A lot of American’s voted for The Lump.

There were hundreds of facts and reasons not to vote for The Lump.

What did they settle on? Her Emails and MAGA!

Besides…we have to figure in what the Democrats did worked. It worked. Period.

Because this has been “Sexual Assault Week”, I’ve been reading a lot of good pieces from women on that and related stuff. This is a good piece in Daily Beast talking about boys’ humiliation of girls, even in grade school years, and the cumulative effect.

This, and the discussions of ‘performative masculinity’, where boys perform for other boys using girls as props, reminded me of things that happened when I was a kid. I don’t remember ever doing that shit, but boy, do I remember others doing it. It did tend to be the same guys over and over, and often they were also belligerent with me, an outsider, an oddball. Plus until 9th grade I was literally one of the smallest boys in my class (now 6’ - and when I grew to 5’10” in 10th grade, the bullying stopped).

One thing that keeps popping up was in Jr. High, when one of the shyer girls in our class got braces. One boy kept shouting at her, “Hey, TIN GRIN!”, and laughing to the other boys. Even at the time, I thought it was a dick move, but as I got older, and especially now, when I think about it I can only imagine how humiliating it must have been for her. Even though she must have heard, she didn’t overtly react. She didn’t give him the satisfaction of reacting.

The guy was an asshole all through school, but very popular, at least with the boys.

My belief is that he’s lying about getting blackout drunk in high school and college, and doesn’t remember the incident, but even if he did, he’d lie about it.

I don’t think he was under the influence of anything other than entitlement and the threat of having what he thought he deserved taken away, plus having been told Trump likes fighters.

“Die” how? “Win” what?

Of course Fischer and the rest of the family-shmamily Holy Haters are going to be pissed at the GOPers if Judge McRapey doesn’t make it to SCOTUS, but - barring some mass RW walkout/boycott of the midterm elections (and how likely, really is that?), the bulk of the offices up for contention are Governorships, State Lege seats, and the House of Representatives: none of whom, outside of voicing support/opposition have much to do with the Kavanaugh nomination. And of those officials who do (Senators), not too many of them are even up for reelection this time; and those who are are mainly Brett-bros anyway. Maybe depressed GOP turnout in places like AZ or TN or MO might sway results more “blue” than they might be - personally, I’m not so sure.

I think it’s more likely that Bryan Fischer’s fire-and-brimstone threats are simply going to ring hollow and make him look even more like the fringe idiot he is. We can always hope….

The real problem was that the majority on the committee had no interest in doing their job: investigating whether Kavanaugh was qualified to sit on the Supreme Court. They did not pursue any line of query that might impede their rush to confirm him. The failure to release the documents concerning his role in the White House during the Bush years show that they didn’t care about anything in his professional background that might undermine the faux image of his being an upstanding lawyer. Bruce is right but it was clear that the GOP didn’t care about any financial irregularities in his past. Actually they don’t care about anything in his past, including his alcoholism. You have to fight with the weapons that work — and the Ford allegations seem to be the only effective tool.

One thing that the Judiciary Dems were catching flak for was the repeated questioning about the FBI investigation. The knock was that they were ignoring all of Kavanaugh’s other sins and just repeating a question that had been asked and answered.

But damned if it didn’t stick. And look where we are now.

Would the delay and investigation still be happening if the Dems hadn’t asked the question so many times? Maybe. But even with a couple of Republican senators asking for an investigation, the idea really didn’t get any traction until the Dems hammered the question 10 or 20 times.

It was a lot smarter of a move than it appeared at the time.

You have to reflect on the Post readership: they are primarily Democrats or liberals. So it isn’t surprising that the comments were opposed to her views. I remember occasionally reading her column in the Chicago Tribune during the Clinton years and being irritated with her hard-right positions, though she would sometimes surprise you.

At least Jen, the other conservative columnist, has seen the light.

True, of course, but I have read other conservative columnists there (when I just felt like beating myself over the head with a brick), and the comments were majority right-wing. Perhaps they had been posted on a right wing site, or perhaps this one wasn’t. Anyway, the difference was striking to me.

I hafta wonder what kind of money problems Flake has. Since he has voted 100% with Trump, but raises a strategic slow-down over Kravenaugh, who has what on him? He feels he needs to make this move, why not an earlier one, or a better one now? I have so many suspicions of him, but no names to attach to them.

He gave an interview to some magazine and admitted that everyone coming forward with their stories of assault (or worse) affected him. He might be experiencing some sense of shame. And we all know how hard it can be to deal with new and strange feelings like that

I don’t there has to be any more sinister explanations for his voting than simply that he voted for things he’d have voted for in any case. In the House he was a fairly extreme Conservative, and he’s been the same in the Senate.

Yep — except for his love of Russia (and, probably, the tariffs), everything that Trump is doing is something that any standard conservative supports. Flake is not a fan of the Trump style, but Trump policies are fine with him, especially since most are Ryan/McConnell policies.

I do think the $ with kav is almost as bad, BUT trump has bigger money problems and the media/voters didn’t care as much as they should have.

A bit different: hardly anybody in the country knew who Brett Kavanaugh was til he got the SCOTUS nom: Donald Trump was already a “celebrity” when he started his run. I think the “media” in general, during the campaign, actually did a reasonable job in exposing Trump’s business “successes” as the shuck-and-jive string of failures they were. But you’re right: the voters didn’t care much: most likely because the simple(-minded) take was easiest: Trump had spent decades polishing his reality-TV image as this fabulously wealthy and gaudily-successful tycoon: and whether consciously or not, all too many voters never bothered (or wanted) to look behind the gilded facade…

He’s a member of the Mormon empire of Arizona (small ‘e’, no offense meant. They sometimes work together with each other politically, as well as spiritually.) Hard to tell at times what he might consider ‘sacred’.

Flake and Beto did some deserted island retreat with just the two of them, IIRC. With the purpose of learning how to work together. And I have seen Mormons (and other people) affected by their missions (or first overseas or out-of-country travel). re: #185 makeitstop

The focus on the FBI investigation made sense in this particular hearing. Going in, this hearing was supposed to be about these allegations. To bring up other stuff would have probably had Grassley and the rest of the Republicans bitching about not staying on topic, and could have easily been painted as cheap shots.

Going forward, if/when there are more terrible nominees like this, Democrats on the committee need to make sure to coordinate. If there are six areas of concern, then two senators focus on one of each of them, rather than jumping around

speaking to Flake’s hometown of Snowflake, its like a lot of other small tight knit Mormon communities in AZ. It’s mostly ranching up there with some selective farming. Because he’s Mormon, he was able to get sucked into the East Valley Mormon group that controls a good portion of the GOP politics in the state. These folks are usually dead-red adherents but occasionally social advancement does happen albeit slowly. Flake has made his rep as supposedly being a GOP member with a conscious and it manifests itself rarely, but I’m positive that having to see those two women face to face in the elevator caused that twinge that led to this delay.

The Mormon church money machine probably means that Flake is well off, so the financials aren’t usually a leverage, yet public shame, brought home up close and personal works. He’s not John McCain, he’s not Orrin Hatch either, he’s one of the last GOP senators who’s still got a glimmer of humanity, notice I said glimmer… and we’re essentially all working under the assumption that the Ford testimony was damning but who’s to say what the FBI finds and what they report and what the GOP acts upon… let’s face the truth McConnell would vote for this guy even if he was sexually assaulting Mitch’s wife on the table behind him because he gives them to cover all of the GOP nefarious shenanigans if they can get him confirmed and in place before the Mueller probes start naming names in the inner circle and start linking those folks to the GOP party (which was also evidently complicit in handling money and coordinating logistics with the stolen data and may have even provided intel in what areas could be played with in regards to rigging votes).

We got 3 million illegals to vote in 2016 without leaving any evidence, but sadly, only in NY and CA, because it was totally worth being caught in the biggest voter fraud of all times just to run up the score. We elected a man who managed to start a recession that began a year before he even took office. Compared it to the Cold War where the Soviets were convinced we were doing what they were doing and we were convinced they were doing what we were doing. He also admitted that they created astroturf groups and that probably is behind why some conservatives don’t believe protests or other progressive activism is real

We certainly spent years way overestimating the Soviet economic and military capacity, not seeing them as the Potemkin village they actually were. It nearly bankrupted this nation.

The speed that the FBI is moving at shows that the SJC majority are lying bastards about how they could never get in contact with these people and ask them questions. That’s something that I hope Dems point out when the report comes back to the committee.

So whatever the FBI investigation uncovers: who do they submit their findings to, and when? I’m guessing Senate protocols would mean Grassley and Feinstein, but I also guess that the SJC Republicans are going to want to at least try to get a look at the FBI findings ahead of time (or at least ahead of the Dems, so they - the GOPers - can gin up some spin).

Well, we are pretty good at this. I mean, we managed to pay off tens, even hundreds of thousands of protestors several times over the last couple years, and not a one of them ratted us out. We got 3 million illegals to vote in 2016 without leaving any evidence, but sadly, only in NY and CA, because it was totally worth being caught in the biggest voter fraud of all times just to run up the score. We elected a man who managed to start a recession that began a year before he even took office. And here, we got Christine Blasey Ford to concoct a story consistent Kavanaugh’s calendar, and tell it years ago, long before the nomination.

Flake wasn’t dissuaded from supporting Kavanaugh by any of the testimony; it makes sense that he would vote to confirm if the allegations are not verified. Someone who was actually concerned about the ethics of those placed on the SC and/or the preservation of Roe v Wade (and who wasn’t afraid of voter backlash) would have voted “No” even before Ford’s allegations were made public. Kavanaugh Has Exposed the Savage Amorality of America’s Ruling Class

For decades, Brett Kavanaugh has traveled through the ranks of the conservative movement as smoothly as food slides down the gullet of a force-fed foie gras duck. An elite private high school, Yale, Yale Law School, a series of clerkships for conservative judges, a spot on Ken Starr’s team during his investigation of Bill Clinton, a gig as a lawyer in George W. Bush’s White House, and, thanks to Bush, a federal judgeship. When Donald Trump—or really, the right-wing Federalist Society—nominated Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court this summer, a fleet of shiny legal establishment types gushed over the pick, declaring him a fine legal mind and an upstanding citizen. One of Kavanaugh’s old professors, a self-described Hillary Clinton supporter named Akhil Reed Amar, called him a “superb nominee” in a New York Times op-ed.

Those people all look pretty bad right now.

This is important. “Ruling class” and “very wealthy” are not one and the same, though there is quite a bit of overlap. Kavanaugh, for example, is not wealthy and his family not unusually so, but he has had an inside track to power since the day he was born. The more ruthless and corrupt the ruling class is, the more likely it is to do the bidding of the wealthy: That is the essence of corruption. Again, though, they are not the same.
It doesn’t have to be this way. Franklin Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy were both wealthy, and members of the ruling class, yet their efforts benefited all Americans.

The current cesspool is the result of a very deliberate plan that has been underway for 60 years, beginning with the loathesome Hunt family in Texas in the 1950s. It was spelled out in the Powell Memo in 1971.

Except that making it dependent on a SMS based smart phone, essentially another computer that can be hacked, isn’t a whole lot better. Also with a Stingray an attacker could just intercept the authorization text, bypassing the phone’s security entirely as long as they were within a few miles of it. That’s why I like the idea of stand alone cryptography based Universal Second Factor USB key fobs. The best security would also include something like a retina scan, which given the ubiquity of cameras in devices shouldn’t be that hard to implement.

Speaking of the corrupt ruling class, here is a prize example who started the process of converting Texas Tech into a world center of Randian economics before former Reagan tool Kent Hance took over and completed the process:
Former Tech Chancellor pleads guilty to official misconduct

The former Texas Tech chancellor best known for his salad bar fight with Bobby Knight has pleaded guilty to illegally boosting his salary while serving as president of a New York medical school.

David R. Smith, who served as Texas Tech’s chancellor from 2002 to 2006, entered his plea Monday in a Syracuse, New York court.

According to the Syracuse Post Standard’s syracuse.com Smith, who left Texas Tech to become president of New York’s Upstate Medical University, admitted he ordered a university vice president to increase Smith’s pay by more than $28,000 each year over a five-year period.

It was Smith who provided refuge and a sinecure for former AG Alberto “Waterboard” Gonzales by appointing him a professor at the Tech law school.

While Republicans work furiously to salvage Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh nomination to the Supreme Court, there’s another position he may be struggling to hold on to: lecturer at Harvard Law School.

Students at the school have been protesting Kavanaugh’s nomination for days and demanding that he not return to campus without an independent investigation of the allegations that he sexually assaulted women when he was a student at Georgetown Prep and Yale College.

Anyone else having problems with old ATT email accounts now hosted by Yahoo?

This morning one of my emails keeps giving me the password error, though the password was correct. Then I changed the password with the Yahoo Helper… and still got the password error.

Now another one of my accounts is giving the password error.

Wondering if there is some big freeze or breech, or if this is just the mysterious ways of computers.

I use Postbox as my Mac email client, and I’ve seen similar problems with a Yahoo account I still have from back in the Stone Age. Suddenly refuses to accept the password.

So far, it always fixes it to go to the Yahoo site, log in with the password that doesn’t work in Postbox, and change the password.

Yahoo email is ugly and it wants to die. But AOL email is even worse.

Thanks. But I’m having problems with the problematic addresses even when I try to log into Yahoo directly instead of through the Mac client.

Some of my ATT email accounts are from back in the ‘90’s, the stone age as you call it. So many people have contacted me via them I’d hate to have to switch everybody over to gmail.

Checking one of my gmail accounts and I see ATT sent me a message about temporary locking my access ID three days ago.

Now when I dropped ATT as a service (some time ago) I was told I could keep the email addresses at Yahoo, and sure enough they have continued to work.

But why would ATT still be involved in managing the email accounts?

And, I’ve continued to receive and send emails via the ATT addresses the past couple of days, after the ATT email at gmail was received.

It all sounds screwy.

From what I understand he did a lazy job explaining that he served during the Vietnam era. He actually served though unlike Trump and Blackout Brett.

This is a great time for a new name to be made in journalism. I sure hope there are some aggressive journalists thinking there is opportunity for some nation saving.

These days it’s Ronan Farrow and Jane Mayer.

Even though his grandfather went there, Kavanaugh may have been admitted based on his own credentials.

He lied about having no connections there. Please. If my grandfather attended a prestigious university that very much thrives on connections, I’d be lying by omitting that.

My dad served in Vietnam. My uncle was in the Army during Vietnam, and he had “Vietnam era veteran” put in his obituary.

Edited slightly, forgot a word.

Right. From what I gather this is another Warren word twister.

We’ll see if the FBI is willing to operate as Trump’s secret police.

I think not. That agency must be full of Trump anger after all the trash talk.

We’ll see what they do, but you can get rather creative about what the boundaries if you try.

I’ve been searching and can find no news item that actually names these WH “sources” about the FBI investigation.

I think they signaled there would be games as soon as they used the word ‘limited’ in their statements.

They will now dance around that for a few days, hopefully catching hell for it all.

Ronan and Jane are doing great work, but so far they have not gone after the Trump White House from what I know.

But here is hoping they do.

You all are attacking a well respected lizard because he posted what the crazies are saying.

You do it every single day

Ben Garrison
Ben Shapiro

et al

I wouldn’t know the shit out there if you didn’t post it. You post your own tweeted responses to the crazy 34 follower person

I love you all, but damn I was taking a break away.

The feeling is just too dramatic & doom. Always the worst possible scenario.

We are going to live through this or die during it. FACT.

Peace & sincerely sorry to TPD for the shit he got.

The pleaser in me re-read my post & 2nd thought it.
