Media Sends the Civility Police to Detain Hillary Clinton

Politics • Views: 35,391

YouTube

Remember that “civility” push a couple of months ago, when the media lectured us all that we should be “civil” to the minions of an administration that tears children away from their families and puts them in cages, to people who support a president who openly, proudly invited his followers to assault protesters at his campaign rallies and promised to pay their legal bills if they did?

Well, they’re doing it again. Bubbling up from the right wing fever swamp and making it into the Washington Post and Politico.

We need more demonstrations and protests, not fewer. I’m not talking about violence, and it’s offensive I should even need to say that. But we can start acting “civil” to Republicans when they start acting like human beings with consciences.

Anyone remember either of the two times Trump insulted the family of soldiers killed in action?
Anyone remember when Trump mocked Chuck Schumer for crying about the Holocaust, in which he lost relatives?
Anyone remember any of the times Trump openly insulted the Mayor of London, not even a US politician but a person holding office in what was supposed to be the US’s closest ally?
Anyone remember when Trump whined because people were upset he’d complimented Nazis?
Anyone remember when Trump declared the Democrats- an entire political party- illegitimate?

Anyone remember when Greg Gianforte body slammed Ben Jacobs, a member of the free press?
Anyone remember when Steve King said that “we can’t save our culture with other people’s babies”?
Anyone remember when that guy in Georgia (Kemp) drove around in a “deportation bus”?
Anyone remember when any one of numerous Republicans defended Trump’s naked racism, sexism, and support of Neo-Nazis?
Anyone remember when Republicans en masse decided to slander victims of sexual assault?
Anyone remember when Republicans “swift boated” John Kerry?
Anyone remember when Republicans pandered to a group that insisted Obama was Kenyan and hung him in effigy at their meetings?
Anyone remember Operation American Spring, a right wing, Fox News endorsed attempt to literally replace the elected head of the United States with a military general and put that duly elected President on trial?

“Everybody be civil!” cries the crowd that spent the better part of two years talking about how awesome it was that a presidential candidate “told it like it is” because that was an element of the “populism” that people wanted so badly. The same media who chuckled and nudges each other whenever that candidate came up with a demeaning new nickname for his opposition. And who only seemed to get on this bandwagon the moment the opposition said “deplorables.”

Pretty sure the civility policers are the same people who smirked when we complained about the current POTUS’ demeaning of the office and the breaking of norms, etc. Now some wackos yell at Ted Cruz in a restaurant and Hillary doesn’t want to be civil with people yelling for her imprisonment and suddenly the demands are that the Dems be civil.

There are folks who were NeverTrump because they thought he’d govern as a liberal, and there were folks who were NeverTrump because they thought he’d govern as a know-nothing, fascism-curious, malignant narcissist. The former came back to the fold, once it became clear that all his economic populism was just lip service. The latter generally have watched their worst fears come true.

I said no more…why waste the time.

Plus, they work for a client, so I sure didn’t want to get into a politics thing with them. And the owner of the small company knows his guys are what they are.

Let it be!

Christian bakery legal team refused service by photography company ‘on moral grounds’

In a statement to PinkNews, perfocal.com founder Tony Xu explained: “It’s been accepted in the highest court in the UK that private companies can accept bookings and then, if they feel that it goes against their morals, refuse that booking if it offends their sensibilities and it not be counted as discriminatory.

“We appreciate that this looks like tit for tat, and it is.”

To be fair, at least they acknowledged it was a bad move. The New York Times would have stamped their foot and gotten indignant that any of their readers questioned the wisdom of allowing Donny to print an op-ed absent even the most basic fact-checking.

A lampooning statement from the Times defending such an article:

We would have been of no benefit to our readers if we had fact checked Trump. Only the keenly aware know that it is best to present Trump as he is.

After all, Democrats, liberals, progressive, whatever they call themselves, have to realize Trump won the election for reasons they still do not seem to understand.

It is better to present the true Trump so you can get a feel for why he is now the president.

Warts and all, he is still popular with a large segment of the voting public. The left cannot deny that, though they try.

According to the Kentucky Board of Elections, Democrats outnumber Republicans in 3 of the six Congressional districts, as well as statewide. I wonder if a lot of those Democrats are sort of legacy Dems who usually end up voting for Republicans. Or if there is a turnout problem, or some combination thereof.

The white house resident* is just desperate to show he’s all hippity hoppity with the kids, but at this point he & his crew are recklessly exploiting Kanye, who clearly is mentally unstable. Especially after the SNL craziness, I can’t imagine what else the white house crew could have expected with their nasty PR stunt today, but it seems not to have gone well for anyone. Now, because Kanye has linked himself with the MAGAt in the white house, the obvious mental health issues at center stage will be reduced to ridicule. Just get whole 2016 white house crew out (it starts 11/6/2018), and get an intervention for Kanye.

The Georgia ACLU reports that:

“The Secretary of State’s Office has confirmed that if your voter registration application is deemed ‘pending’ because of the exact match law, you can still cast a regular ballot IF you provide photo identification at the polls which substantially reflects the name you used on your voter registration form,” stated Sean J. Young, Legal Director of the ACLU of Georgia.

Getting the word out is key.

Richard Branson backs out of Saudi tourism projects until the Khashoggi matter is clarified.

I had high hopes for the current government in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leader Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and it is why I was delighted to accept two directorships in the tourism projects around the Red Sea. I felt that I could give practical development advice and also help protect the precious environment around the coastline and islands.

What has reportedly happened in Turkey around the disappearance of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, if proved true, would clearly change the ability of any of us in the West to do business with the Saudi Government. We have asked for more information from the authorities in Saudi and to clarify their position in relation to Mr Khashoggi.

While those investigations are ongoing and Mr Khashoggi’s whereabouts are not known, I will suspend my directorships of the two tourism projects. Virgin will also suspend its discussions with the Public Investment Fund over the proposed investment in our space companies Virgin Galactic and Virgin Orbit.

I wish our erstwhile president would show the same kind of guts.

It’s been a f up day here, but I did one good thing. A woman I work with who become I citizen several months ago was not registered to vote. I’ve been after her after giving her a hard time for not talking her test. I did my best to quiz her along the way and she passed and her papers came through a few weeks ago. Today I helped her register to vote. OK I filled out the online form. In NY it’s easy if you have a state ID or drivers license. One more voter in NY! Also a registered Democrat (her choice).

Oh, I’ve read about what they’re doing. It should not be necessary and is simply because the native vote was critical in the last election of one specific individual.

Just because it can be fought nonviolently does not make the instigation any less an act of war.

How are we a democracy when we continue to restrict voting rights of our citizens? Why hasn’t this been turned around on Republicans as a badge of shame?

The Republicans are proud of this. They have taken up the mantle of the old Dixiecrats in suppressing votes of minorities. Georgia is part of the old South and still is infected with the racism of the past. Originally, voter suppression was confined to the states of the Confederacy. But over the past 10-15 years, voter suppression has become a standard tool for Republican-led governments nationwide in any state with a diverse population.

Republican voters are all on board with silencing their critics.

This may be worth a lot more than all his other scandals, egregious as they are. They’re too convoluted, too diffuse. This is the kind of thing people can get their heads around:

Khashoggi was murdered, dismembered, and carried out in suitcases by an assassination squad dispatched from Riyadh for the purpose. tRump knew about the danger, didn’t warn him, knew it happened, has been dogging it on acknowledging that it happened, is still selling them arms, and offered them carte blanche to develop nuclear weapons!

This will have staying power, I think. It’s not just: “So? He cheats on his taxes—so does everybody! Whattabout….”

I saw a tweet earlier (forget where) that said like everything else he talks about, Trump lied. The actual number on the weapons buy is 14.3 billion.

And Congress can put a hold on them if they’re so inclined. We’ll see if they really want to get to the truth or if they’re just blowing smoke.
