Pipe Bombs Sent to Clintons, Obama and CNN Offices

US News • Views: 44,231

As Donald Trump’s incitement of his followers reaches fever pitch… Pipe Bombs Sent to Clintons, Obama and CNN Offices.

Pipe bombs were sent to former President Barack Obama and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, as well as to CNN’s offices in New York, sparking an intense investigation on Wednesday into whether a bomber is going after targets that have often been the subject of right-wing ire.

A law enforcement official said the three devices were similar to one found Monday at the home of George Soros, the billionaire philanthropist and liberal donor.

As is customary, right wing shouters immediately started up with the conspiracy theories.

Now get ready for an extended round of media dithering over whether it’s “fair” to lay the blame for this at Donald Trump’s feet. Trump, for his part, couldn’t even be bothered to bash out a tweet condemning these attempted murders, instead retweeting Mike Pence’s boilerplate statement.

UPDATE at 10/24/18 11:10:36 am by Charles Johnson

News is now breaking that bombs were also mailed to Rep. Maxine Waters and former Attorney General Eric Holder.

Speculating the bombs appear to be similar in construction, all with return addresses from Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, &c.

As for “lone wolf,” they need to cover their bases to make sure they don’t accidentally call a white guy a terrorist.

The only reason the train hijacker here in Nebraska was called a terrorist was because Federal law specifically calls attacking railroads terrorism. They had no choice, even though he threatened to kill all the black people on the train, &c.

A package was left on my front porch this morning (strange, because the Post Office always delivers to my back door). When I came home from the store, considering what’s been going on this morning, I was concerned … looked at the package and it was from a yarn company. Left it alone and asked my wife if she’d ordered yarn (yes).

Only then did I pick up the box.

Well, he won’t discourage is base, in part because he’s a coward and probably fears, deep in whatever is left of his soul, that they will turn on him if he doesn’t keep going to 11. And he doesn’t care about the bombs because it doesn’t effect him directly.

Rod Dreher got up quickly his “both sides” condemnation of the mail bombs. He also completely absolves the President of any responsibility, tsk-tsking him to “tone down the rhetoric.” My comment:

“It’s not Trump’s fault that some devil mailed pipe bombs to Democrats and to CNN.”

The President has stated repeatedly that CNN is an “enemy of the American people.” I’m certain that a disturbingly large number of his supporters believe that taking direct action against America’s enemies is completely justified.

I’m reminded of the man in the news this past week defending himself against sexual harassment charges in court (the guy who went after a woman on an airplane) by stating the standards of the President in his “pu**y-grabbing” speech. Or his leading of “lock her up” chants.

I agree with you that our “cold civil war” is turning hot. Witness those commenters on this board willing to kill asylum-seekers at the border, preferably through the military but if necessary as individuals. The President of the United States is the most significant figure in both American politics and in American culture.

And among the crimes of the President is stochastic terrorism.

stochastic terrorism. English. Noun. stochastic terrorism (uncountable) the use of mass, public communication, usually against a particular individual or group, which incites or inspires acts of terrorism which are statistically probable but happen seemingly at random.

A package was left on my front porch this morning (strange, because the Post Office always delivers to my back door). When I came home from the store, considering what’s been going on this morning, I was concerned … looked at the package and it was from a yarn company. Left it alone and asked my wife if she’d ordered yarn (yes).

Only then did I pick up the box.

re: #157 Kragar

Yep…..here we go.

The numbers: New-home sales ran at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 553,000 in September, the Commerce Department said Wednesday.

Sales of newly-constructed homes swooned to the lowest since December 2016. September’s selling pace of 553,000 was 5.5% lower than in August, and 13.2% lower than a year ago.

Big picture: The government’s reports on residential construction are based on small samples and often revised heavily, making it unwise to rely on data from any single month for the big picture. But the story so far in 2018 has been one of continuing deterioration. For the year to date, sales are just 3.5% higher than in the same period last year, a measurement that’s been falling steadily throughout the year.

For years, the housing story has been about strong demand, and limited supply. That dynamic may be starting to shift, however, as unrelenting price gains, higher mortgage rates, and scant choices may be nudging would-be homebuyers out of the market.

6/12 - 25,320
6/27 - 24,117

In the mid/late-90s, I delivered pizzas for a Round Table Pizza. That was about the time that Papa John’s started to spread nationally. Domino’s supposedly was going to focus on their quality of ingredients due to the rise of Papa John’s and their losing ground to the other big chains. That was also around the time that Pizza Hut started doing all kinds of weird shit like their stuffed crust pizzas, I believe.

I became something of a pizza snob, and typically don’t eat at any of the chain places if I can avoid it (I’ll occasionally make a nostalgic exception for Round Table), so I don’t know if Domino’s ever followed through or not.

I lived a lot closer than you did. The City of Philadelphia and MOVE had a prior shootout a couple years earlier which resulted in the death of a police officer. I don’t know who shot first in the 1985 incident but I’m pretty sure the city was afraid they would have to storm the house. There were children there and MOVE members had said they wouldn’t be taken alive. Ultimately only one child was rescued. I think they had some sort of Branch Davidean death wish going on. As far as the bunker they built on the roof (which is where they dropped the bomb), I don’t know if it really had a line of sight to the street below. The Philly police dept wasn’t that far removed from the days of Frank Rizzo so that throws dome shade on their perspective. I think there is a lot more to the story than the police simply dropping a terror weapon.

If he waits until 2024, he can run in the Senate special election in 2020 or for governor in 2022. It’s sort of the Nixon model - lost in 1960, ran for governor in ‘62 (lost), and then had his wilderness years before winning in ‘68. Of course, Nixon had name recognition.

Worth reading again.

You may be wondering why I am writing a letter to Americans in a Dutch news outlet. It is because I do not trust the US outlets to remain free, and believe that many are already compromised. The mainstream media who Trump proclaims to hate are actually his best friend. They have been all along, promoting him ceaselessly, and they are now rationalizing and normalizing his most extreme policies. Trump tells you to boycott CNN, but CNN’s boss always had a framed Trump tweet on the wall.

Part of the derp that cell phones and Wifi cause brain cancer.

Most of the derp comes from the relentless attack by conservatives on knowledge. That’s why they weaken education. That’s why the Texas GOP wrote into its platform they oppose teaching critical thinking.

An educated populace does not vote for conservatives.

Had a prospective client who had me over to check out WiFi at his compound, multiple buildings over a few acres with two separate satellite ISP feeds. But he needed one network. Wasn’t happy with his current WiFi in the buildings. Near the end of the walk through, his wife says ‘Yeah, the WiFi is horrible, it needs to be stronger. Sent a proposal off to them and thankfully never heard from them again.

The neighborhood is in the town of Cameron. This incident occurred around 1 p.m. during a training exercise.

“A load of some kind was released early and we’re looking into how it happened,” said Michael Novogradac, a spokesman for the USArmy’s Operational Test Command.

The microwaves stay in the microwave, reflecting off of metal
surfaces. The door has metal with holes, but the holes are smaller than
the wavelength and can’t pass through. I doubt the people afraid of Wi-Fi
even know how microwaves are closely related to wi-fi.

That’s how it is supposed to work anyway. Had a client who was routinely having issues with their wifi and it suspiciously kept happening between the same 1-2 hour period every day. Turns out their microwave was leaking like a sieve and whenever somebody nuked their lunch everyone near the cafeteria started having network issues.

mrs dm and i just did our due diligence and voted
used our mail in ballots (10 pages!)

every dem we could find
for all the amendments the dems were for and and against any amendment the R’s wanted

they’ll actually go in the mail in the AM

i have always been registered independent and have voted dem down the line

after the election im changing my registration to democrat. this will put me one up on bernie.
i didnt want to do it before the election in case something went awry with processing the application (these days one never knows)

a few weeks ago there was talk about students and postage and absentee voting
Flordia’s are prepaid / business reply . no stamps

You’re lucky re the postage - New York makes you fill out the (awkward, multi-fold) ballot, then seal it (and sign) a big-ass ballot envelope, then stick that into an even bigger mailing envelope, with only the note “extra postage required” to guide you. I usually just put two “Forevers” on it: not even sure what the additional-ounce rate is these days….

The media would be reading Obama or Hillary the Riot Act for choosing to continue forward with a political rally the very same day (or week or month) after events like today.

But instead, they’re eagerly awaiting this rally just to see how the short-finger vulgarian will make an absolute ass out of himself.

NAACP: Georgia votes for Democrat Stacey Abrams are being changed to Republican Brian Kemp (Salon)

The NAACP and several voters are suing alleging voting machines in several counties are flipping votes to Kemp.

This was a foreseeable problem. As Americans demanded quicker and quicker results, votes went from hand counts to machine tabulation to instant counts from touch screen machines.

As long as touch screens exist, they are a weak link in an honest election (which is exactly why conservatives want them).

Back in the day I was a pretty effective spider murderer with a lighter and can of WD40.

Brings up the memory of Burglar, the neighbor’s beagle on a project. Awesome dog, so happy to come play with us on the jobsite. Under house nuking black widows before I work… I see Burglar running around on the other side of 3 webs I’m about to nuke. He sees me, wags tail. I say ‘BURGLAR, NO!’ He wags faster and bolts right at me, through the black widow webs. Last I see him he has one on his shoulder, running right at me. I jump out the crawl hole with my heart pounding out of my chest.

Bad Burglar.

Well, one actual baguette; the rest aren’t actual baguettes.

I cut and shaped the rest of it into smaller rectangular chunks of dough because I can easily eat an entire baguette in one sitting all by myself and that’s not good.

It’s the same script we’ve heard again and again:

GOP: “Look, Democrats are so wrong for causing all this hate and discontent. Anybody who acts violently on our side is just reacting to all that hate coming from Democrats.”

Media: “Would you say that both sides need to tone down the rhetoric?”

GOP: “Absolutely! Democrats need to stop saying such mean things to us!”

Media: “And what about things said by yourselves, especially the President?”

GOP: “Hey, we’re just defending ourselves from the violent rhetoric the Democrats are spewing! We have a right to defend ourselves!”

Media: “Well, there you have it, folks. Both sides are equally to blame, which is why Democrats should make the first gesture of promoting civility by telling their supporters to stop being so mean to Republicans.”

He probably doesn’t remember what he read off the teleprompter earlier today let alone remembering he had that presser.

He seems to have zero memory retention.

Once he is in front of that crowd it is The Don Trump Review, featuring Donald Trump and he has to perform and give the crowd what it wants.

No way he can remember there were bombs mailed to Democratic politicians when that crowd fix hits. It’s showtime.
