John Mayer: “I Guess I Just Feel Like” [VIDEO]

Music • Views: 40,370

YouTube

I guess I just feel like
I guess I just feel like

Nobody’s honest
Nobody’s true
Everyone’s lying
To make it on through
I guess I just feel like
I’m the same way too

Oooooo
Oooooo

I guess I just feel like
Good things are gone
The weight of my worries
Is too much to take on
I think I remember this dream that I had
That love’s gonna save us
From a world that’s gone mad
I guess I just feel like
What happened to that

Ooooo
Ooooo

I guess I just feel like
The joke’s getting old
The future is fading
And the past is on hold

But I know that I’m open
I know that I’m free
I’ll always let hope in where I’ll be
And if I go blind I’ll still find my way
I guess I just felt like
Giving up today

It turns out the backstory to Brian Kemp’s accusation against the Georgia Democratic party is about as stupid as you could imagine. According to this report, a voter found the vulnerability, alerted an attorney for the plaintiff’s in one of the on-going lawsuits against Kemp’s office. That lawyer alerted the attorneys for Kemp’s office. There were apparently a couple lines of communication. See the details here. But the gist is this. There was a security vulnerability in the system Kemp’s is responsible for securing. His office was alerted the vulnerability. Then instead of focusing on fixing it he put out a press release accusing the state Democratic party of trying to “hack” the state system. Shocking and awful and about as bad as you can imagine.

For all of you Raspberry Pi people, I thought you might find this cool: amazon.com. It’s a power relay board that attaches on top of your Pi. it can control up to three 10A/250VAC or 5A/30VDC devices. For my Halloween/Christmas light boxes, I use a separate module that allows four to be controlled by the same company. but this would be a pretty cool solution if you wanted to build something like a light control.

Last year, I had a box with 8 electrical outlets. After using that, I built three smaller ones, each with 4 outlets. These boxes are about 20x12x5 (I’m just estimating).

Here’s the top view:

To shrink them, I stacked the pi on top of the relays, so here’s two pictures showing the wiring into the relay:

I would love to find a way to reduce the power strip and the 5 volt adapters.

Rather disheartening — saw a couple minutes of Tom Brokaw on Chuck Todd today — and he said that the suburban women are returning to the GOP fold because they have accepted the argument that Kavanaugh is like their sons. Trump is a master at finding weak points and persuading others to fall in line with his propaganda.

It is not Trump who is terrifying, it is the tens of millions of Americans who continue to support him; who supported him in 2016 despite comments that would have doomed any other candidate. Only a strong Dem victory in the House will give me any hope for the future; if we don’t see that, it does not appear that world will recover from the nightmare that we have entered.

If we don’t win at least one House this time, it will be an overwhelming task to win next time around. Voter suppression will continue unabated. Republicans will certainly seize their continued domination to eliminate the ACA, and this time there will be no McCain to ride to the rescue. The damage that the SC and the lower Trump-controlled courts will inflict will be unchecked.

Last Monday while with friends, one was asking (more than half seriously) how we will know that we have reached the point where it’s necessary to flee the country. In the 1930’s, most German Jews did not recognize the signs until it was too late to save themselves. Or maybe we are really overreacting — that Trump will be a temporary black mark against this nation, and that we will eventually recover after he leaves the scene in 2020 (or 2024).

I still think there’s a good chance it’s already too late to save the country, with every election we have now just a chance to slow down the end and reduce some of the damage. If the Dems don’t grab at least the House, things are going to get way worse within months, if not weeks, and I wouldn’t make any bets on elections being held at all in 2020.

Last Monday while with friends, one was asking (more than half seriously) how we will know that we have reached the point where it’s necessary to flee the country. I think we need to be making plans on how to help people escape to safe(r) countries, whether it’s our families, our friends, or vulnerable populations, and how to help people hide when they’re in trouble. It’s not like we can just hide oppressed people in our attics anymore — electronic surveillance would probably make that impossible.

Long ago, large swaths of what was the Union was indeed rather progressive.

However, as the 20th century rolled out there were many atavistic movements, centered greatly around the collapse of religion in light of modern discoveries.

So we see “God” stuck into the Pledge of Allegiance, etc.

On this non-Presidential election year, my local ballot is a two-sheeter.

For those who may not know, California uses a fill-in-the-bubble sheet (for a sheet reader) that is rather large for a piece of paper. Both sides are used.

And this time we have two sheets, so the local registrar is warning people to be prepared for long waits at the polls as people have to go through all the items.

I have dozens of possible judges to investigate…

re: #59 Hecuba’s daughter

NBC and MSNBC have been promoting this nonsense. On MJ today someone has been out interviewing trump supporters all over Virginia and they are showing their responses in regard to immigration and the caravan.

They never seem to find someone to interview who explains the lies of trump and explains why they will never vote for a trump supporter. Don’t let the media b.s. get to you - I have no idea why they carry water for trump - but in so many places it is not working. People like Beto have to fight Cruz and the media - and he does it. Remember how President Obama won, they tried so hard to bring him down. trump was a one election wonder - keep that in mind.

So now the Daily Beast has put out a “Donny losing tomorrow is really Donny winning” article to join the bandwagon declaring that the other side experiencing a wave election is really good because you can run against that during reelection.

Funny thing is, I don’t remember this same rhetoric coming from the press in 2010. In fact, I remember the exact opposite: Obama was portrayed as the big loser, the GOP was seen as ascendant, and the general consensus amongst pundits was he was going to have a bitch of a time running in 2012 when the midterm referendum of his presidency had yielded a Republican House.

107
freetoken  Nov 5, 2018 • 4:39:24am

Still I check the lottery tweets that show up with the usual words (“Powerball”) - and while the pace is much slower now since the huge jackpots have been won (but, btw, none of the big winners have come forward yet), what is tweeted is as stupid as ever.

There is a steady stream of tweeters desperate to cash in on the social memory of “megamillions” and “powerball”, adding those words to tweets that are about anything but lotteries.

Then there are bots tweeting two week old news that there are giant jackpots, not acknowledging that is OBE.

Then there are the scams promising winning numbers.

The list goes on.

Twitter is a wasteland.

108
freetoken  Nov 5, 2018 • 4:42:10am

And there still appears occasionally the tweet claiming poor people would not be poor if they just stopped playing the lottery.

As if a few dollars a week makes a difference.

When century old houses in middling-neighborhoods in San Diego are selling for a million dollars, spending a few dollars a week on lottery tickets is not something that can be saved to make a difference.

109
freetoken  Nov 5, 2018 • 4:46:41am

The real criminals in our society are NOT the lottery-mongers, but the house-flippers and real estate salesmen.

I saw that the house next to one I owned (and sold in 2004) is now on the market. The asking prices is over twice what the market price was in 2004.

It looks like a flipper got to that house. I can tell by the facile attempts at landscaping, the paint job, the new but cheap flooring, etc.

The asking price is about $200k above what the house could have sold for even 24 months ago.

Having been in that house, and knowing the neighborhood well, I know what is going on. Because it is out of the central area of San Diego the houses are “affordable” (read less than a million) and for “starters”.

It’s all so obscene.

The only thing that gives me solace is that the right wing is terrified of the results. Paul Weyrich warned them years ago that when there is a big turnout they lose. It’s why wingnuts are so obsessed with voter suppression under the guise of “protecting the vote from fraud”. The seeds of this have been growing for a long time. Thing is though, they aren’t the majority, they just get the coverage and they’re loud and obnoxious as fuck.

I am avoiding any such coverage. I prefer to hear the news after it’s all over, not gets my hopes up (or dashed) beforehand. I’m with SteelPH, I’m terrified of the results. In 2016 I was convinced Clinton would win and Trump could never eke out a victory. Then I learned more than 60 million people voted for the creep, and he won the EVs, and I was demoralized. This could go south really fast, I just decided to refund everyone and give their money back. I think it was like maybe $200 at that point.” Email screenshots she provided back this claim up. The militia idiots have been wanting some kind of a domestic war they could fight in since the 80s after they all read The Turner Diaries.

Trump and Miller are giving it to them with the support of too many Americans.

It would not surprise me if some get totally out of hand in the coming month.

But then, they can also get bored rather quickly missing Alabama football games and Bud Light sitting in their big easy chairs.

If The Caravan™ doesn’t make it to the border in two or three weeks, they will pack it in and go back home.

Like the military preparation documents secretly released last week showed, they are more concerned about a fight between the militias and the border patrol and US military than having to deal with immigrants.

Giving good hug is important.

Along the same line…here is an explanation to the video.

These preschoolers start their day by choosing between a variety of fun greetings for each other after their teacher wanted to encourage positive interactions.

Every morning, teacher Kali Lovgren has her class begin by lining up by the ‘greeter of the week’ and choosing how they would like to be greeted that particular morning.

The four-year-olds use a chart to choose between a hug, handshake, fist bump or high five on their way to class and the morning greeter will greet them accordingly.

Kali, who teaches at Lone Tree Elementary in Lone Tree, Iowa, shared the adorable video on social media charming thousands of people happy to see the kids learning a valuable lesson.

Christ. I hate this motherfucker. I hate his minions, too, but the constant uncertainty is unnerving.

washingtonpost.com

The Trump administration is bracing for a massive staff shake-up in the weeks following the midterm elections, as the fates of a number of Cabinet secretaries and top White House aides are increasingly uncertain heading into a potentially perilous time for President Trump.

This portrait of the White House preparing for post-midterm staff changes comes from interviews with 14 senior White House officials, administration aides and Republican operatives, many of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity to candidly discuss internal deliberations.

Among those most vulnerable to being dismissed are Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod J. Rosenstein, who is overseeing special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s Russia investigation after Sessions recused himself. Trump has routinely berated Sessions, whom he faults for the Russia investigation, but he and Rosenstein have forged an improved rapport in recent months.

Trump has been skeptical of Nielsen because of her service in the George W. Bush administration, and the two have feuded over an influx of migrants on the southern border, which the president does not believe Nielsen is addressing forcefully enough.

I haven’t heard anything bad about any of the judges up for retention (at least in LA and Orange Counties). As for new judges, I tend to favor those who were not prosecutors.

Voter suppression at its finest. Wherever they have failed to remove minority voters from the polls, they are trying to terrify them into not voting. As I keep repeating myself, Crystal Mason, a Texas woman and American citizen, was sentenced to five years in prison for voting illegally because she was a felon on parole and mistakenly thought she could vote. These red states will do anything to stop minorities from voting.

Margaret Sullivan nails it:

Defensive, caravan-fixated and Trump-obsessed, the media blow it again. Just not as badly.

But there’s still one overarching problem: Too many journalists allow Trump to lead them around by the nose, which is why you’ve heard so very much about that migrant caravan in recent weeks.

With the president as their de facto assignment editor, too many seem to respond “how high?” when Trump says jump.

We need a lot less “excited to share,” a lot less wound-licking, a lot less “how high, Mr. President?…”

It’s probably unreasonable to assign a grade that considers national media organizations including ProPublica and Fox News.

But, having observed the coverage for months, while holding my temples in dismay, I’ll take a stab at it anyway.

Midterm grade: C-minus.

The best thing you can say about that? It’s not an epic fail.

There’s a spider living in my bedroom. We have an agreement. She stays on the wall close to the ceiling and eats things I don’t want in the house. No coming near me, my dog, or the bed.

My dog, however, is unimpressed with the new resident. I told him about the agreement, but he’s really not having it. Ms. Spider better stay near the ceiling.

My kitty used to catch spiders and torture them. She would walk around with a half dead spider hanging out of her mouth, legs all broken etc and I would tell her “Your toy is broken, sweetie. It won’t play with you anymore” and try to get her to put it down.

If there was a viable 3rd party candidate that actually could win, I’d vote for that person in a heartbeat. That said, the GOP is a cancer on democracy at this point and in this particular race, the only way to try to stop it is voting Democratic.

US waiver on Iran oil gives government comfort till polls

It’s a scam. Trump makes it sound like he’s being harsh on Iran.

Reality is that he’s scamming his supporters because sanctions would spike oil prices. So what does he do? He issues waivers to all of Iran’s closest trading partners so they’re not affected by the sanctions and can continue to do business.

It’s vaporware.

It’s fairly amazing… 80-85% chance of something happening means there’s a 15-20% chance that it doesn’t. That makes both outcomes within the realm of possible, if not probable. But then, math is hard for some people.

Nate was among the few people who pointed out that the chances of winning still gave Trump a shot at becoming President. They indicate the likely outcomes.

The likely outcome in the House is the Democrats gain the majority - there’s a slim shot that the GOP retains. There’s also a slim shot that the Democrats pick up more than 59 seats (which would give them 254 seats).

Dinesh de Felon sucks at math. He just sucks (more succinct).

in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men.
Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

Every poll in NJ seems to show Menendez with a comfortable lead, despite everything Hugin is throwing his way. The closest any of the polls showed Menendez up 5 points. Even with a MOE of 3.5, that meant that Menendez would still win. That’s one of the reasons that 538/Silver shows Menendez as likely to win reelection. Also note that the polls that showed the closest margin were the ones with the smallest samples. We’d have to look at each of the polls to see their weightings and assumptions as compared to the actual electorate.

At same time, Lance and other GOPers in the House are on the chopping block too.

I’ve seen a bunch of those.

They range from attacks on Menendez about the prosecution for corruption that Menendez ultimately won in court to smearing him for relations with minors.

There’s one that claims that Hugin is a Marine and therefore stands up for what is right, except that he’s backing Trump and pushing Trump policies by lying about what he’d do about preexisting conditions and voting to confirm Trump’s right wing extremists to the judiciary.

The Marine commercial is perhaps his most effective… but it isn’t saying much.

I think Mickie Sherill’s campaign ads have been quite effective (NJ-11) - positive campaigning. Delgado too (he’s running against Faso in NY-19).
