It’s typical. It’s how people who benefit immensely from government talk about how much they hate big government. Sick of this shit. It’s not going to change and it’s why I welcome demographic changes.

The free market (a space to trade goods and services where competition improves those products and services and delivers them more effectively to purchasers) only exists because of government regulation.

Prior to that we had names like “gilded age” and “feudalism” to describe the economic systems.

The retirees are certainly plentiful, but there’s a goodly number of redneck goobers here as well. Folks shouldn’t allow the city centers to fool them, you drive just 10 minutes out of town and you can hear banjo music.

Thing is, local political analysis isn’t blaming Corey Stewart, they’re claiming that Taylor’s loss was self-inflicted. That campaign’s whole little scheme to get a third-party candidate on the ballot by having staffers submit petitions covered in fake signatures blew up in his face the moment those staffers started squealing that the whole thing was his idea.

Because Trump and his media hacks played you for racist fools. And what did you do but swallow the bait whole. 🤔

Just like the Republican Primary, Trump is focusing one by one on each journalist, and they are not calling him out because they are protecting their own turf. This started with Jorge Ramos, then the Des Monies Register, then Univision, &c.

It’s precisely the same strategy as he used to knock off the Republican Clown Car, and its working exactly the same way because the press is behaving the same way.

Scarborough is lamenting this now, but he participated in it.

About that:

The White House Correspondents’ Association issued a statement condemning what it called the Trump administration’s “decision to use US Secret Service security credentials as a tool to punish a reporter with whom it has a difficult relationship”.

Calling on the White House to reverse this “weak and misguided action”, it added: “Revoking access to the White House complex is a reaction out of line to the purported offense and is unacceptable.

A stern admonishment indeed.

re: #59 Anymouse 🌹

The White House is going to try to squeeze CNN with this. They’ll say in as public a fashion as possible that CNN is certainly welcome to send a journalist to the White House to participate in future press briefings. But Acosta is barred, will be arrested for trespassing if he tries to enter the White House even if on a tour, and the reason is because his behavior was “over the line.”

The rest of the media will hem and haw for a few days, CNN will openly seethe, and the talking heads will express “concern” and possibly even “outrage.” But ultimately CNN will find that it has little support outside of that “concern” and fold, sending a different reporter because the alternative is having no representation in the White House press pool. The cherry on top will be when the new reporter shows up for the first time, they’ll get an oily “welcome” from Huckaboo or Donny himself and the “hope” that they’ll show more “respect” to the president* than their predecessor did, with the unspoken understanding that they’ll follow behind Jim if they so much as burp out of turn.

And that is the exact strategy Trump used to win the Republican Primary.

Squeeze one candidate at a time, while the others said nothing in the hopes Trump would flame out and they could get his supporters.

When all that was left was Ted Cruz, he went crazy with everything from slandering his father to attacking his wife.

One thing that always creeped me out about North was that he went through a year of combat in Vietnam, as a platoon commander, real mud and blood stuff, and it didn’t seem to have affected him at all. He was as full of shit as a lieutenant colonel in the 80s as any freshly minted butter-bar. He still is today. The guy is not quite human.

New nonprofit tied to stealthy circle of dark money groups

Leading the pushback from the outside against President Obama’s attempt to bring the Supreme Court back up to its full complement of nine justices, the Judicial Crisis Network claims to have spent $4 million on a TV, radio and digital campaign attacking nominee Merrick Garland and arguing that the next president should fill the vacancy.

One right-leaning group has weighed in more quietly: The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) has demanded Harvard University release records having to do with Garland’s role in the debate in the early 1970s over whether to allow ROTC recruiters on that campus. In late March, FACT’s executive director, Matthew Whitaker, was quoted saying that “Americans have a right to know about Garland’s views of the military.”

Turns out JCN and FACT have something in common, beyond a penchant for keeping the names of their donors secret: Neil Corkery, who is treasurer of the judicial group and also the treasurer and a member of the board of directors at FACT, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Longtime readers of OpenSecrets Blog or The Daily Beast may remember that Corkery’s wife, Ann, had a big hand in getting JCN off the ground, back in early 2005 when the “C” in its initials stood for “confirmation,” not “crisis.” At the time, Justice Antonin Scalia himself — whose death two months ago precipitated the current battle over the vacancy — attended a small dinner that included JCN organizers and at least one funder.

From The Characters of Theophrastus (4th Century B.C.):

XXVI The Oligarch

(Ὀλιγαρχία)

Oligarchy is a love of power that clings tightly to personal advantage. The oligarch rises in the people’s councils, when assistants to the archon are elected for the management of a fête, and says: “These men must have absolute control.” And although others have suggested ten, he insists that one is enough, but he must be a man. The only line of Homer that stays in his memory is: “A crowd’s rule is bad; let there be one ruler.” He knows no other verse. He is, however, an adept at such phrases as this: “We must hold a caucus and make our plans; we must cut loose from mob and market; we must throw aside the annoyance of petty office and of insult or honor at the masses’ whim; we or they must rule the state.”

At midday he goes out with his mantle thrown about him, his hair dressed in the mode and his nails fashionably trimmed; he promenades down Odeon Way ejaculating: “Sycophants have made the city no longer habitable. What outrages we endure in court from our persecutors! Why men nowadays go into office, is a marvel to me. How ungrateful the mob is! although one is always giving, giving.”

If, at the Assembly, a naked, hungry vagabond sits next to him, he complains of the outrage. “When,” he asks, “is a stop to be put to this ruin of our property by taxation for fêtes and navy? How odious is this crew of demagogues! Theseus,” he says, “was the forefront of all this offending, for out of twelve cities, he brought the masses into one, to overthrow the monarchies. He met his just reward,—he was the first to fall a victim at their hands.” This is the way he talks to foreigners and to citizens of his own temper and party.

I was disappointed at first, losing a few really high-profile races, but on the other hand, things are really better than they looked at first blush, particularly on the state levels. If Kansas and maybe Wisconsin are finally getting wise to the disastrous results of the Brownback and Walker experiments (respectively), there may be hope for the future.

Admittedly, with Twitter in particular, that’s not always out of ignance.

That one looks dangerously close to character count, and since I see no prepositions or written numbers that can be turned into numerals, “You’re—>your” may have been the only change he was capable of making.

164
Dr Lizardo  Nov 8, 2018 • 4:50:34am

Regarding the shooting incident in Thousand Oaks,

Authorities confirmed that the shooter had been killed, but did not immediately identify him. Dean said it was too early to determine whether there was any link to terrorism.

The gunman apparently was not carrying any form of identification and it will take time to take his fingerprints and run them through databases, local and federal officials said. The gunman was described as a white male, armed with a single handgun, a law enforcement source said.

nbcnews.com

Somewhat odd that he had no form of ID on him; perhaps deliberate on his part, to make himself as much a pain in the ass in death as he (presumably) was in life.

Jeff Sessions, who RWNJ loved for so long, now must be discarded because he wouldn’t recuse. RWNJ who wanted Hillary, Obama and AG Lynch “lynched” for the Clinton tarmac meeting now want to remove all possible means of oversight of Dear Leader.

Jeff Sessions is finding who his friends aren’t.

I saw a video clip of Trump when he first learned about Sessions recusing himself. Trump is upset and saying he would never have hired him if he knew he was going to recuse himself.

Dumb ass Trump put Sessions in the spot he had to recuse himself because it was Trump that triggered the Mueller investigation.

And it was Trump that put Sessions in his campaign which brought in the Russians.

But Trump never takes responsibility for anything.

Now the news reports are saying his new replacement AG should recuse himself because of all the public statements he has made about the investigation.

Did Trump rush to appoint Matthew Whitaker because he liked what he said about the investigation and never considered his statements could cause him issues and he should also recuse himself?

It would not surprise me. I hope Whitaker is forced to recuse so we can watch Trump blow up about him too.

Trump is like, so smart…he has a great brain. Ignorant asshole.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area.

Another goddamned fucking mass shooting. This time in California. 13 dead, including a sheriff who was among the first responding. The shooter is a white guy, 29 years old, who had a 45 caliber handgun and apparently used smoke grenades too.

I’m ready to talk about Columbine, VA Tech, Binghamton, and Sandy Hook. Enough time has passed.

Oh, you mean we have to wait again? It’s been a year since Las Vegas, and some of the people who were at that mass shooting were in the club last night. We have people in this country who are survivors of multiple mass shootings.

That’s beyond fucked up.

But the GOP and NRA refuse to do anything about it beyond calling for more gun sales and arming people to the teeth. That’s the problem - the easy availability of guns, not that we don’t have enough guns.

We don’t do enough to screen people that have guns, and some states have such lax rules that they become an Iron Pipeline into states with strong gun laws.

California has stronger gun laws, and it shows with a lower per capita gun death rate than neighboring states - Nevada and Arizona have lax gun laws, and their gun death rates are far higher.

Trump wont do anything - he refuses to act - unless there’s a foreigner or an Islamic terrorist involved. That’s the only thing that gets him going.

Another white guy shooting up a public space wont do it.

It never has. The GOP/NRA have accepted this and refuse to change it.

They are the problem.

We just passed this on Tuesday—whether it’ll make any differece or not, who knows?

Initiative Measure No. 1639 concerns firearms.

This measure would require increased background checks, training, age limitations, and waiting periods for sales or delivery of semiautomatic assault rifles; criminalize noncompliant storage upon unauthorized use; allow fees; and enact other provisions.

Should this measure be enacted into law?

But of course this latest shooting was with a handgun, and the handgun is absolutely sacred, despite the obvious fact that the 2nd Amendment doesn’t touch on them at all. Handguns “essential for the security of a Free State”? Please!

And here is the GOP “solution” to mass shootings:

State Rep. Robert Goforth, R-East Bernstadt, said his bill would eliminate most of the prohibited locations in the state law allowing “concealed carry” because armed Kentuckians should be allowed to defend themselves and others in this era of mass shootings. It serves no one’s safety to declare so many gun-free zones that criminals won’t respect, Goforth said in a recent interview.

“This is a public protection bill,” said Goforth, a farmer and former pharmacist who first was elected to the House in a special election in February. “After everything we’ve seen going on, I think our citizens need to be able to protect themselves. Without the right to bear arms, you’ll continue to see violence like we did in Louisville the other day. The violence is just continually growing in our society.”

Trump will tout it as great job creation legislation because of all the needs for armed ex-military and police.

The NRA will be happy because the gun makers will be happy.

And it will solve not one damn thing…just make for dead armed guards.

And this morning we have another dead cop who was armed.

I’ve been in the private security racket. Your only function is to up the stakes—turning robbery into murder—thereby (hopefully) deterring the robbers.

Except we’re not going to get that for at least 20-30 years with the current makeup of the Supreme Court. If anything else, the 2nd Amendment will be treated as even more sacrosanct even as all the other amendments get whittled down to ensure power stays forever with white men only.

dangerman  Nov 8, 2018 • 7:36:56am

my two takeaways, summarized at electoral-vote.com
(the first we were talking about yesterday, esp re North Dakota)

Furthermore, the tribes don’t even interact any more. The blue tribe lives in cities and surrounding suburbs in both blue states and red states. The red tribe lives in rural areas in both blue states and red states. The color of a state is simply determined by whether the state has enough cities to balance the rural areas that every state haseducation and cities are correlated. People with college degrees predominantly live in cities or their suburbs while few people in rural areas have college degrees.

and

If the Democrats don’t hold Trump’s feet to the fire at all, the base will be furious…However, if the blue team merely spends the next two years trading blows with Trump, they are likely to lose that game, since the President is uniquely talented at getting down into the gutter. The far better path is to pass bill after bill that forces the GOP-controlled Senate and/or the President to make some uncomfortable choices about healthcare, or tax cuts for the middle class, or funding for infrastructure improvements, or protections for voting rights, or the like. Pelosi and the Democratic leadership know this very well, so expect them to adopt a roadmap of this sort.

RawStory: GOP stands to lose four more House seats

Having already seen two California seats in the House of Representatives flip from Republican to the Democratic Party, GOP officials are faced with the prospect that four seats could be lost as vote tallying continues.

According to the Los Angeles Times, 40 percent or more ballots remain uncounted because Californians’ prefer to vote by mail, and those ballots could cause a swing for whichever candidate is currently leading.

The reports states, “The party has an exceedingly small chance of holding the seats of Reps. Dana Rohrabacher and Jeff Denham” with Republican Reps. Mimi Walters and Young Kim holding onto thin leads that could easily dissipate.

According to a polling analyst, late votes in California have a history of breaking towards Democrats by two points or more. “This is as dependable as the tides,” said Paul Mitchell, president of Political Data.

But at the same time, man he’s got a huge blind spot on race and I’m tired of other white progressives ignoring it because they love that he’s a Dem socialist and proud of it. Well you know what guys, I hate to tell you this but socialism doesn’t end racism. We could definitely benefit from more socialism in our economy I’ll be the first to agree with that but we need to be honest about racism and sexism and xenophobia in our country and Bernie, he of one of the least diverse states in the union is clueless about that. That’s why he shouldn’t be nominated in 2020. Criticize HRC all you want but at least she wasn’t an ostrich with her head in the sand about race, gender, and country of origin.

But blue state Republicans are a lot less extreme than red state Republicans; I can’t imagine Hogan could win in Md if he was a Tea Partier. The more extreme states are generally the ones that don’t have a large enough urban population to counter balance the rural whites. Kentucky is very rural and has a small African-American population, a large percentage of which is disenfranchised due to prior felonies.

Another thing that irritates me so much about this discussion is how racism is disingenuously framed as a binary issue - you either are or aren’t. And that’s ridiculous - racism is a continuum on which the same person can move in different directions dependent on a whole host of factors.

- Someone can have no trouble working or casually socializing with minorities, but be highly uncomfortable with the thought of dating/marrying one.

- Conversely, some can have no trouble with sexual relationships, yet not like the thought of socializing/working with or other contexts (like that billionaire basketball team owner who told his *biracial* mistress that he didn’t want black people in the audience for his games o_O)

- And then you have the infamous “one of the good ones” types, who are nice to minorities who behave in a manner they consider acceptable as opposed to the negative stereotypes they hold. And I daresay this might help explain a lot of the Obama-Trump voters, who were fine with Obama initially due to a) genuine bush-induced economic anxiety b) the fact he didn’t act like an “angry black man.” But as soon as Obama did something they considered too “blackity blackity black” (e.g. comments on police brutality), they abandoned him.

I think a lot of white people really think it’s either you’re a KKK type or you’re not. You’re right. It’s not binary at all. And I think you are right about the Obama-Trump crossover voters. They were fine with Obama-Biden when they saw him as standing up for their health care but they didn’t like him talking as a black man when he said Treyvon could have been his son. Exactly. It’s a load of shit what he said. Just fucking say it Bernie, there are elements of the white working class that are racist, you dweeb. There are college educated whites that are too and I have no problem saying that as a college educated white man.

I’d go farther than that. The default setting for whites is to be racist while strongly believing we personally are not racist. We then generally get extremely pissy if accused of being so because real racists wear hoods and burn crosses. Racists are bad people, we are not bad, ergo we cannot be racist.

But yeah perhaps prejudice versus racist is the answer because of what the word racist and racism inspires. One can certainly be disturbed by the KKK and the treatment of civil rights protesters and one can still be prejudiced. It’s why a lot of middle white America definitely recoiled seeing what they saw on their TV’s in the 60’s and then went around and bought a lot of the bs in the 70’s and 80’s. And you know what, I’ll say it, I’m sure I have my prejudices too, I’m not free of them, but I strive to overcome them. I try to see people as individuals while being aware of differences. You need not be colorblind I argue but perhaps color-aware is something more whites need to be. My ears perk up when I hear accented English. My eyes wonder when I see a surname or given name I’m not familiar with. My nose gets curious when I read about cuisines I’ve never had. Don’t be “colorblind.” Be aware.

Isn’t this slander and defamation on Sanders’ part?
Couldn’t Acosta sue the living daylights out of her over this?

Yes. Acosta is a public figure which means he would have a higher burden of proof. Not only would he have to prove that what Sanders said was false, but he would also have to prove that she knew it was false when she said it. i.e. Malice or a knowingly and wilfully false statement. Normally this is very difficult to prove. [How do you prove the pizzagate nuts are lying and not just crazy stupid shitheads, for example?]

In this case there is a video and dozens of witnesses including Sanders who saw what actually happened. You can easily prove to a jury that Sarah is 100% lying by just showing the videotape.

so two simple questions:
- how would you know your cell reception is ‘jammed’?

Loomer comes from the CCJ generation of really stupid wingnuts like Tomi Lahren and her belief Trump can’t be impeached because he was elected.

I exaggerated when I said you always see “FBI Surveillance Van”—I don’t see it here at home. But at the library and Safeway—to name two places with WiFi—it always shows up. Can’t be the same one, either, because the library’s four blocks one direction and Safeway’s six blocks the opposite direction. This is obviously very common.

Actually, they went to his house.

A group of protesters reportedly affiliated with the anti-fascist group Smash Racism D.C. surrounded the home of Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Wednesday night and shouted threatening messages, according to The Washington Post, which reviewed since-deleted videos and social media posts of the incident.

In one deleted video, the group was heard chanting, “Tucker Carlson, we will fight! We know where you sleep at night!” In another video, a woman is heard saying she wanted to “bring a pipe bomb” to the house, according to the Post.

After one of the protesters slammed into the front door of Carlson’s home — causing it to crack — Carlson’s wife Susan Carlson locked herself in the kitchen pantry and called police, the Fox News personality told the Post. Carlson’s wife was home by herself at the time, as Carlson prepped for his 8 p.m. show. Police told the Post that about 20 people surrounded the home.

And - to what will, I am sure, be absolutely no one’s surprise, the Thousand Oaks shooter’s bloody spinout was a complete shock to the neighbors: (via L.A. Times)

Investigators knocked on doors of surrounding residents to find out what they may know about Long. One neighbor who knew Long said he was a veteran who suffered from PTSD. She said, “I don’t know what he was doing with a gun.”

Others said Long lived at the home with his mother. Richard Berge, a friend and neighbor Long’s mother, said Long’s mother was worried about her son.

“He wouldn’t get help,” Berge said.

re: #195 wheat-dogg

Reading this thread calms me down some. Ms Rangappa is still expecting Whitaker to hold to normal lawyerly professionalism and the DOJ culture, which given the history of the thugs Trump has picked to serve under him may be wishful thinking. But she’s the expert, not I.

In a normal administration, ie, one committed to societal norms, the Constitution and the rule of law, I would agree with you and she. However, on this case, I respectfully disagree with her.

In her first tweet, she says “He must recuse” ? Every report I have seen states that he does not intend to recuse. And the rest of her thread keeps repeating should and must. For every point I keep missing where she says “or the following legal sanction _will_ occur”

In her next to last tweet, she argues that he is a Sessions loyalist. The reports I have seen argue that this is untrue.

A number of news reports detail his presence at DOJ as being considered a a White House spy, not a Sessions loyalist.

“More recently, having been installed in the Department of Justice, Whitaker has reportedly operated as a kind of White House spy to keep tab”
nymag.com

Her final tweet is that if he doesn’t follow her outline he is facing professional and legal ‘suicide’. Assuming the rule of law triumphs… Quite possibly. Certainly, based upon his actions and on news reports, he is taking a high risk bet that Trump will succeed over the rule of law.

My thoughts are that beyond doing what we are currently doing, there is much that is out of our direct hands. And a most important task is to take care of your self. This fight is likely to continue until November 2020.

I must admit that I am highly impressed with all the good work being done by the folks on this site! Thank You!

The Carlson harassment story is up on Talking Points Memo, with the video. Here’s their text:

“It wasn’t a protest. It was a threat,” Carlson, who is often criticized for his inflammatory rhetoric, especially about immigrants and minorities, told the Post. “They weren’t protesting anything specific that I had said. They weren’t asking me to change anything. They weren’t protesting a policy or advocating for legislation. … They were threatening me and my family and telling me to leave my own neighborhood in the city that I grew up in.”
The protesters also reportedly posted Carlson’s home address, as well as the addresses of his brother and Daily Caller co-founder Neil Patel, on Twitter before their accounts were suspended.

The shooter is a Marine Corps veteran who had issues, including petty criminal acts but somehow managed to get honorably discharged:

Long, who apparently killed himself, was a Marine Corps veteran and was known to local law enforcement.

Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said during a news conference Thursday morning that his department has had “several contacts with Mr. Long over the years” including minor events such as a traffic collision. Long was also the victim of battery at a local bar in 2015.

NATIONAL
Gunman Kills 12 People At Country Music Bar In Thousand Oaks, Calif.
In April, there was a troubling incident in which deputies were called to Long’s house after reports of a disturbance.

“They went to the house, they talked to him,” Dean said. “He was somewhat irate, acting a little irrationally.” Deputies called the crisis intervention team, and mental health specialist who met with Long. The specialist didn’t feel that Long qualified to be detained under 5150, the California law that allows for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation if a person is deemed a danger to himself or others. Long was left at the scene at that time, the sheriff said.

Long served in the Marines from August 2008 until March 2013. A machine gunner who attained the rank of corporal, he served about seven months in Afghanistan, from November 2010 to June 2011. His last duty station was at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

A U.S. official told NPR’s Tom Bowman that Long “was not a stellar Marine.” The official says Long received two infractions in 2009 for shoplifting at a post exchange. Long received an administrative punishment, but it wasn’t enough to force him from service and he was honorably discharged. Long received no personal awards aside from the Combat Action Ribbon, which is given to anyone who is fired on by the enemy or fires at the enemy.

While I believe the press must continue to cover and attend news conferences when Trump is present, there is absolutely no reason to attend Sanders’s briefings, which do not import information but instead use the press as a forum to abuse and threaten reporters and spread misinformation. Sanders is not the news; the White House is the news. Reporters can cover their beats and obtain comment as necessary from Sanders without attending, let alone covering live, her (albeit rare) news briefings.

…after leaving office, she deserves none of the niceties normally accorded to others in her position. I am still uncomfortable with threatening the family; Tucker Carlson is a vicious little man but it does not seem right to attack the family too.

That’s why I’m saying false flag until proven otherwise - it’s the right that has the sleazy, creepy history of targeting family (e.g. Cesar Sayoc googling things like “Elizabeth Warren kids” and all the trumpchump neo-nazis who photoshopped people in gas chambers)

Meanwhile in Georgia…

My sister’s best friend lives in Forsyth County, one of the exurban ring counties around metro Atlanta. Just found out last night that her friend went to vote near the end of the day and was in line at 7 when the polls closed.

The friend says the poll workers told the people in line they had to go home (!) and wouldn’t be allowed to vote (!!) and so she left (!!!) without voting.

“She’s not the brightest bulb,” says my sister about her friend.

And yes, she would have been a Stacey Abrams voter.

Multiply that by how many polling places across Georgia, and how many votes that should have been cast were never cast, and thus won’t be captured in any theoretical recount?

This makes me so angry. We KNOW how to make elections run smoothly. Up here in western New York, there’s rarely any line at all to vote. We have a half-dozen precincts that all vote in the auditorium of our town hall (one of a dozen polling places around our town of 20,000 or so). You go to the table of your precinct, the nice old ladies look you up, you sign your name, you get your ballot and you go to one of the kiosks where you fill in the circles with the felt-tip pen. Then you go to one of three or four scanners and run the ballot through the hole. I was in and out in under five minutes and would have been quicker if I hadn’t run into a high school friend on the way out and chatted for a bit.

Five-hour lines for voting are a choice that election administrators make. We need a national standard. This is ridiculous.

Unless one proves otherwise, this is not incompetence, it’s malice and a deliberate attempt to suppress the vote. This is what Kemp has been doing all along — and the only fair solution is a do-over, with voting rights restored to all those illegitimately purged from the voting register.

I wonder how many other voters who were in line also gave up and left, and I wonder if it was an actual election official who told them to leave, or some ratfucker trying to make trouble.

re: #450 The Very Reverend Battleaxe of Knowledge

I can kind of see the motivation at the time for naming these Army camps after Generals from both sides, since we were (supposedly) all one country again—but why prize nincompoops like Braxton Bragg and John Bell Hood, to name two?

Yup, that fort naming is a relic from the World War 1 era (1918) when the south was being welcomed back into the nation. Most of these camps in World War 1 served local National Guard and draftee units.

Bragg was a corps commander in the final 1865 campaigns in the Carolinas. I suspect that is why the Fort was named after him. Probably with a lot of local political support.

And yes, he was definitely a military nincampoop. (technical term) My favorite wiki quote about him is:
“Bragg is generally considered among the worst generals of the Civil War. Although his commands often outnumbered those he fought against, most of the battles in which he engaged ended in defeats. “

It would be amusing if (much as we like to rag on third parties) some gomer pulled in just enough votes to pull Kemp down to 50% - 1 so there has to be a runoff, which he will not supervise and will be under a national looking glass.

Tucker is going to milk that for a long long time, as will Fox and all kinds of wingnuts.

In some ways I wish they hadn’t done it for that reason, but then we are in a situation where people are growing desperate with the direction of this country and have no way to fight it, so acting out is their choice.

But that kind of behavior is totally acceptable outside of an abortion clinic directed at an already stressed women.

31% turnout is still pukingly awful for a national election, if an off-year one considering the real civil war currently going on this very minute. It is literally going to take sending the 18-29yr demo off to war in N Korea or Iran for the ramifications to hit home and become real enough to get them off their asses.
