Our Sociopathic President Blames California for Fires, Threatens to Withhold Funds

Politics • Views: 33,975

By now every possible way of describing the sociopathic toad in the White House has been used, so I’ll just mention that this morning he showed again what an utter piece of trash he is by blaming California’s “poor forest management” for the terrible fires that have made thousands homeless and taken lives, and then threatened to end “Fed payments,” by which we can only assume he means emergency funds.

Yes, this is his message to people who’ve lost everything in these wildfires — he responds with a twisted conspiracy theory and threatens not to help them.

It should be noted that there’s no longer any doubt that human-caused climate change is a major factor in these natural disasters, and they’re going to continue to get worse because the Trump administration has been systematically gutting environmental regulations, and putting climate change deniers in charge of agencies that are supposed to address it.

Was there something on Fox just then? Where did he get the idea about CA forest management?

mostly o/t

mrs dm just flew to NY for a trade show
im staying home in the sunshine with the cats

i went with her last year and while she walked the show, I did a 12 mile run along the south end of the Greenway

at the time it was a very long run. i was only about six or so months into my recovery. i was prepared, had built up slowly to that point and i did fine. (it was cold and snowy!)

one year later and now i run anywhere between 13 and 20 every single sunday. and i just roll out of bed and run. no prep, planning, special sleep, food, or anything else.

sometimes we need to look back and see where we’ve been and how far we’ve come

the not o/t part:
it’s not even a week since tuesday. the D congress hasn’t been sworn in yet. nancy’s building an agenda. (I trust anyone who wants her job is doing the same.)

EPA:
Health and Environmental Effects of Particulate Matter (PM)

Exposure to such particles can affect both your lungs and your heart. Numerous scientific studies have linked particle pollution exposure to a variety of problems, including:

premature death in people with heart or lung disease
nonfatal heart attacks
irregular heartbeat
aggravated asthma
decreased lung function
increased respiratory symptoms, such as irritation of the airways, coughing or difficulty breathing.

People with heart or lung diseases, children, and older adults are the most likely to be affected by particle pollution exposure.

That’s not strictly true - if we pave over everything, then EVERYTHING will burn. Asphalt is a crude oil product, and if we wind up igniting a global firestorm thanks to runaway global warming, asphalt and concrete won’t save you.

That is a powerful image. At first it comes off a bit like a cliche motivational poster, the nice sunrise with the deer in the water taking a drink in the early morning.

And then you see the raging fires on the hillsides that make up that ‘sunrise’ sky impression in the upper background.

There have been some images from these fires that you want to say are beautiful, but they are coming from so much tragedy and it makes them sad.

News media is still having trouble calling a lie a lie.

“…Alarmed by unproven claims that elections supervisors are tainting the electoral process, a hastily organized protest was pulled together on social media. Janet Klomburg, a 56-year-old from Weston, was among the crowd demanding Snipes’ removal from office.

“We want her in handcuffs for her criminal history. We want her whole staff in handcuffs,” Klomburg said. “This race was stolen from us.”

Wearing a Make America Great Again hat and Trump 2020 polo, Klomburg straightened a pile of fake ballot boxes that protesters had arranged nearby. Before noon, the crowd swelled to more than a hundred protesters chanting “Lock her up,” “Brenda Snipes has got to go,” and “Stop the steal.”

The crowd — which prompted Snipes to call Lauderhill police to her office’s front door to temporarily keep the public at bay — was fed by fraud claims that seemed to enter the mainstream Thursday when Scott’s campaign claimed that incumbent Sen. Bill Nelson had hired attorneys to “steal” his election.

Robert Mugabe.

Idi was the one who gave himself honors and declared himself leader for life. This - from wiki sounds so like trump

During the 1977-1979 period, Uganda was a member of the United Nations Commission on Human Rights.[6] In 1977, when the UK broke diplomatic relations with Uganda, Amin declared he had defeated the British and added “CBE”, for “Conqueror of the British Empire”, to his title. Radio Uganda then announced his entire title: “His Excellency President for Life, Field Marshal Alhaji Dr. Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE”.[7]

As Amin’s rule progressed into the late 1970s, growing dissent against his persecution of certain ethnic groups and political dissidents, along with Uganda’s very poor international standing due to Amin’s support for the terrorist hijackers in Operation Entebbe, led to unrest

trump persecutes certain ethnic groups and politicians who disagree with him - and his international standing is lower than the proverbial 27%

From that Max Boot opinion piece

But, as the New York Times reports, the troops are still in the field, without electricity or hot meals — or a mission. They will likely spend Thanksgiving away from their families.

Naturally, Trump will not bother to visit them, even though there is no risk in traveling to Texas. He still has not visited U.S. troops deployed to a war zone — although he has spent 72 days at Mar-a-Lago and 58 days at his Bedminster, N.J., golf club.

/snip

So much for Trump’s conceit that he is pro-military. It has about as much factual foundation as his claim not to know his newly appointed acting attorney general. He has no understanding of what soldiers do or the honor code by which they live. His idea of military service is marching in a parade — and he is peeved he couldn’t have one in Washington this Veterans Day.

An interesting thought - if perchance the Florida Senate seat does indeed to to Nelson on the recount, thus moving Republicans back to 50 seats, and coupled with the Arizona flip, we’re sitting on a 50-50 tie.

What are the odds that one of the Republicans decide to either go independent or flip party affiliation, simply because they can’t stand the fact that the party has become the party of Trump, and suddenly McConnell finds himself out of control?

One candidate I can envision this happening with would be, of all people, Mitt Romney, who has been very transparent in his hatred for The Donald.

The wingnut is strong up here what they like to call the State of Jefferson after all.

Oh, my bad. He was talking about TWITTER, not YouTube. And he thinks I’m lying.

So Twitter allows video posting up to 40fps, up to 25Mbs, and nowhere does it say it ‘automatically removes frames because compression.’

Posting this here because I won’t want to do work and because this talking point is no doubt going to come up so I’m educating the masses for my good deed. Which means I earned a beer.

If you are basing this on the Democrat winning Mississippi, they are going to have a runoff in which the Republican will be a very heavy favorite.

I went down into Simi today, a bunch of the hills up here are scorched but I couldn’t see any burned houses. The map shows some burn area overlapping a few homes on the East side of Long Canyon road but I didn’t drive back into those neighborhoods to investigate.

True, although if you read the letter in the images here…

…he’s actually tied in a two-candidate scenario! Still a long shot, but given how run-offs tend to have abysmal turnout, maybe the right GOTV scenario could help pull off an upset (Mississippi’s African-American population is larger than Alabama’s).

Dude now telling me ‘frames were removed automatically, that’s compression.’

I tell him I’ve been doing audio/video for thirty years as a profession and YouTube also hosts 4K 60 fps video which I use to test WiFi on iPads phones and laptops.

Been a little while since he’s responded. Must be his compression.

Whut?

So, he is saying the result of compression is whole sequences can be eliminated and therefore real evidence could be lost, like say 5 seconds where something was visibly done and now is gone?

The wind died down but the fire is definitely still burning in other areas. Mine is the only voluntary zone in Ventura County that never became mandatory but officially that order hasn’t been lifted yet. I briefly went out yesterday evening but came right back because I could see fire burning up the North side of Canyon View Trail. When I went out today I could see some shit was still smoldering but no obvious fires around here. Also, two people were found dead in Malibu.

Kemp campaign calls Abrams’ refusal to concede ‘a disgrace to democracy’
thehill.com

I cheated fair and square! You know how hard it was to lose power cords, keep all those machines locked up or broken. Real work!

FYI: She needs about 6,000 votes to get a run off election. Which is why Kemp is crying.

And if it was reversed - Kemp would be screaming for a recount. Good to see the democrats are learning from GOP tactics.

So SInema has a 27,788-vote lead now? Sweet!

I just have to wonder, though: if the “expected” percentage of the 49000+ votes for the Green candidate* had been cast for the (D), would we even be wondering at this point?

*2.34% - actually larger than I would have thought. Still ludicrously low, but more than I would have expected
