Not sure what happened to that refugee kid that died but we should be all over it. But the glee of his death, I will never forget who supported this shit. You’re exactly right: they want family separations and deaths to be a deterrent. It’s what they crave.

When the boy was evaluated for release, hospital staff found a fever and he was held for an additional 90 minutes before being released on Monday afternoon, CBP says. The boy was given prescriptions for amoxicillin, an antibiotic, and the painkiller ibuprofen.

there’s something implied in all this:

foreigners, no insurance, no money, etc - though they should be temporary wards of whoever is detaining them,
…sounds like one of the goals was to get them out of the hospital real fast

found a fever
waited 90 minutes

Yep. It sounds very much like the kid (and his father) were still in CBP hands, not released to anyone else. Maybe the kid would have been better off at the El Paso Greyhound station. I still really want to know where they were initially apprehended. There’s a children’s hospital in El Paso.

Duterte is what Trumpites aspire to. In particular, journalists have joined priests and alleged drug users on his target list.
Views on media killings

The Philippines is one of the most dangerous countries for journalists, with 174 assassinations recorded since the Marcos dictatorship. In a press conference on May 31, 2016, Duterte said that “Most of those killed, to be frank, have done something. You won’t be killed if you don’t do anything wrong.” He appeared to announce his support for killing “corrupt” journalists: “Just because you’re a journalist you are not exempted from assassination if you’re a son of a bitch”.

Who among us hasn’t tried to cram a Change Order out on Christmas morning before the family comes over, only to catch that you designed a nice residential network with all PoE devices, but the rack was moved to a bedroom closet 10 feet from a bed.. a 48 port PoE switch will be jamming fans 24/7 at almost 40dB at 80% capacity…

And you realize you can do a fanless 8 port PoE switch with a 24 port managed fanless switch to kill the fan noise. So there will be 12 wall warts for field PoE devices, but it will be quiet!

One of the many problems with our laissez-faire gun laws is that there is no requirement for any kind of training or even basic knowledge as a condition for gun ownership. In much of this country, someone who has never touched a gun before and who doesn’t know which end is the front can quite easily buy one, load it with live ammunition and go wandering around the public streets with it.

Grim news for Scrooges and Grinches: The annual War on Christmas has suffered yet another complete, unmitigated defeat, a rout in fact. It’s enough to make a strong grinch cry. I, myself, was full of grinchy confidence, ready to humbug the carolers and gift givers and jolly Saint Nick impersonators right into next year. Then the older daughter called and put all the grandchildren on. It’s the little twins’ birthday too, so I could hardly be scroogey about that. Then the younger daughter arrived in person from South Carolina, she and the neighbors got together on a grand feast, and, well, I gave up. Merry Christmas, everyone!

Getting in on the sick burns:

Good point, Dan. A 72 year old man has seen climate change with his own eyes, if he was paying any attention at all. Lubbock, the most Trumpish of all the 100 largest US cities, is a perfect example. It used to get below zero at least once every winter there, with the all-time low at -17 in January 1963. It has not been below zero there since 1988, and the coldest temp last year was in double digits (13 F). Yet most elderly people there will dismiss climate change as a liberal hoax designed to take away their homes and retirement savings. There is more at work here than ignorance, there is willful denial and self-deception.

Our winter storm watch has been upgraded to a warning, with near-blizzard conditions.

We’re stranded (hides knives from wife).

We’ve reached the “bargaining” phase of the five stages of grief.

History repeats itself, first as tragedy, then as worse tragedy.

For all your guitarists.

Got my 8 year old kid a G1Xon pedal for his guitar. He can’t really decide what style he wants to play so we bought him a multi pedal. Spent many hours today going through the patches.

He hits She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult with it so really pleased.

Make sure he learns something like Run, Don’t Walk by The Ventures - a little surf guitar helps almost every genre ;)

Since I am out in the wastelands maintaining the War on Christmas from here in the Manatee Bunker, I want to wish everyone Happy Holidays! I hope everyone who was good got what they deserve and that those who were bad get what they deserve.

Thus ends the annual War on Christmas.

And you realize you can do a fanless 8 port PoE switch with a 24 port managed fanless switch to kill the fan noise. So there will be 12 wall warts for field PoE devices, but it will be quiet!

Happens all the time.

Not here. ;) I went with the 24 port fanless managed switch from day one for another reason; dust. We gots lots of it here and the less air movement there is the better. Same with hardware fans, fewer is better. The HP DL380 G8 server nearby would negate any noise savings anyway. It’s our combination pantry/laundry/server room so the server is fitted with intake filters that have to be cleaned regularly.

That and the churn of the ocean and winds here on the Pacific coast whip up plenty of dust that has to be dealt with. Noise isn’t a factor as it’s at the back of the house.

Larry Flynt trolling the whole famdamily. Heh.

[Embedded content]

Flynt even went so far as to invite the president to the event.

“You and your family have done so much for this country that we at the Hustler Organization want to show our appreciation by throwing Donald Trump Jr. a birthday party he will never forget,” he wrote in a tongue-in-cheek letter.

I don’t see that on Larry Flynt’s Twitter feed. Where’d it come from?
