You Know How Trump Always Rants About “Rigged Polls?” Guess Who Really Rigs Polls?

We have a juicy — yet pathetic — new detail today about the work Trump’s fixer Michael Cohen did for the Orange Oligarch.

You know how Donald Trump rants continuously about how polls are “rigged” against him?

Well, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal today, there definitely was some poll rigging going on in the last election.

By Donald Trump and his fixer.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump’s former “fixer” Michael Cohen said Thursday that he paid the head of a small technology company thousands in 2015 to rig online polls at “the direction of and for the sole benefit of” Trump.

Cohen was responding to a report in The Wall Street Journal that he paid John Gauger, the owner of RedFinch Solutions LLC, between $12,000 and $13,000 for activities related to Trump’s campaign, including “trying unsuccessfully to manipulate two online polls in Mr. Trump’s favor” and creating a Twitter account called “@WomenForCohen” that “praised (Cohen’s) looks and character, and promoted his appearances and statements boosting” Trump’s candidacy.

In making the claim, Gauger told the paper he wasn’t fully paid for the work, though the Journal said Cohen was reimbursed $50,000 — the amount the two originally agreed on for Gauger’s services — by the Trump Organization. Gauger, according to the paper, also received a boxing glove “worn by a Brazilian mixed-martial arts fighter” along with the cash payment.

The truly pathetic part of this is that Trump and Cohen were trying to stack online polls — those meaningless, non-scientific, for-fun-only polls that anyone on the internet can vote in. And apparently, they failed at it, despite spending five figure amounts.

But wait! It gets even more pathetic.

Then, during the campaign, Cohen asked Gauger to create a Twitter account called @WomenForCohen. The account, which is still online though has not had a fresh post since 2016, claims in its bio to be run by “women who love and support Michael Cohen. Strong, pit bull, sex symbol, no nonsense, business oriented and ready to make a difference!”

The poll rigging stuff is hilariously awful, but the criminal act is the money laundering and way that all this was paid for by the Trump campaign.

It was the money going from campaign to Trump org to Cohen to the Liberty U tech guy.

It was the purposeful attempt to mislead about the source of the funds. It was about masking intentions. It was about failing to report the expenditures to the FEC.

Those are federal felonies we’re talking about.

Trump and his cronies will try to claim that this was just some accounting error or paperwork foulup, but that’s absolutely and indisputably a bogus response here. These are the actions of a crime syndicate that ignores policy and protocol and thinks money can just be moved around without consequences.

And if it was happening with his campaign, you know it was happening with his businesses too - which is why they’re always under audit. He’s running a house of cards that will collapse under its own weight as tax authorities try to unwind what he’s doing.

The question of whether or not Dipshit has the power to cancel this trip is secondary to the reality that the visitation to Afghanistan was being kept secret until he threw his latest temper tantrum. He has potentially endangered the woman who is second in line to the presidency in a petty attempt to get back at her for denying him his ego-stroking session.

Congress is supposed to be a co-equal branch of government. This should be a no-brainer. Congress shouldn’t have to be kowtowing to the Executive to have security clearances for their staff, either. The congressional Republicans were happy enough to abandon all these powers, either being scared of Trump’s base or abandoning their own responsibilities to second-guess and throw rocks at Obama.

His attempt to play to his base non-stop is not even working, said base is crumbling.

His belittling of Pelosi isn’t working, she holds all the cards and isn’t folding, and she’s now enjoying a resurgence in popularity after years and years of demonization by the GOP.

And now this attempt to get back at Pelosi won’t work and will actually backfire on him in spectacular fashion.

Because that’s really going to help Donny’s position, coming out and announcing that since Dems won’t reopen the gov’t by giving him his wall money, he’s just going to start firing tens of thousands of federal employees unless his demands are met. While I’m sure Congressional Republicans would pop wood over such an announcement, it will quickly wilt when they start seeing the constituents burning them in effigy for sacrificing those jobs for a vanity project.

re: #176 goddamnedfrank

This seems to be coming from a piece of wishful thinking that Thomas Lifson published at “American Thinker,” in which he concludes that:

“The head of the OMB, Mick Mulvaney, currently does not have a lot of spare time, serving as head of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and as interim White House Chief of Staff (a 24/7 job in its own right). But if he is on board (and why wouldn’t he be?), he could well designate a team to prepare quick plans for downsizing, now that the various agencies have seen how little they need so many of the furloughed bureaucrats. That would make the furloughs qualify for RIFs.”

Does Donny realize there are many Fed employees in red states that he is screwing over. And that is going to be hard on those Congressional Republicans in those states.

Misinformation must be called out when seen. The target of the correct information is not the person (or bot) spreading it, the target is all the others who might read the misinformation and view it as fact. That is about the only way to counteract propaganda’; the same rule applies in religious counter-apologetics.

A visibly astonished and displeased Jake Tapper took pains to point out that when President Donald Trump ostentatiously canceled Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s secret trip (with a congressional delegation) to Afghanistan, he compromised the entire delegation by announcing “to the world, including the Taliban,” that Pelosi was headed to the war-torn region.

While Trump rages on about the dangerous drugs coming through the southern border, I haven’t heard on peep out of him, or even from Robby Portman about this mess at Columbus’ Mount Carmel Hospital. The hospital is about 1/4 mile from Portman’s office.

3 lawsuits so far, and 27 cases of this doctor overdosing people on Fentanyl.

Seems this young doctor was taking end of life into his own hands. What a mess this is.

See link for the hospital’s statement. Video below story from link.

NBC4i - Third wrongful death lawsuit filed against doctor, Mount Carmel

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The Mount Carmel Health System and a doctor are facing a third wrongful death lawsuit, claiming a 44-year-old man was killed by a morphine overdose.

The lawsuit was filed against Mount Carmel Health, Dr. William Husel and several others on behalf of 44-year-old Troy Allison, who died at Mount Carmel West on July 15, 2018.

According to the lawsuit, Allison was prescribed and given a lethal dose of narcotics that served no therapeutic purpose and which likely caused his death.

Christine Allison was informed of the incident through a phone call by a Mount Carmel administrator on December 27.

Lawsuits were also filed by the families of Janet Kavanaugh and Bonnie Austin. The families’ attorneys say both Kavanaugh and Austin died due to being given excessive doses of fentanyl, ordered by Husel.

On Wednesday, Austin’s husband said he hopes the lawsuit on behalf of his wife’s estate will benefit everyone.

“Let’s not let it happen again,” said David Austin. “You can’t bring my wife back, but maybe it’ll stop it from happening again.”

“Decimate” is a weird word to use describing the military since it was originally used by the Romans to describe killing every 10th soldier as a group punishment when they did something really, really wrong, but you still needed most of them as soldiers.

Had this happened in the modern US military I think we’d have heard about it.

They’re lying. The Defense budget in 2010 was $721b. In 2015 it was $637b, that’s a 12% decrease. Keep in mind in 2011 the GAO couldn’t complete an audit of the DOD budget because “serious financial management problems at the Department of Defense (DOD) that made its financial statements unauditable”

There’s also the issue that we’re not actively engaged in large scale wars, which means spending isn’t going to be as high, either.

In other words, that’s not “decimated”.

That, and the long pursuit of multiple wars. The rate of exhaustion to the organizations and equipment in modern deployment demands a period of refit that the force never got. Even the Desert Storm walkover sent a couple brigades worth of trashed materiel back to the rear-echelon shops in Italy.

The talk, I think, relates to the sequester - when the GOP demanded the reductions in expenditure President Obama decided/requested/insisted? that it apply to all expenditure including the military. GOP always like to leave the military out of any reduction in funding. Their goal to have the only government functions - milirary, L.E. and prisons.

Edit: I obviously didn’t read all of your comment - I agree with you - it was the sequester.

Hey Ensign (Mr.) Smith can I see you over here for a bit.

Once in private, look asshole, get out of my way and let me do my job. Because if you don’t Mr. (Lt) Jones is going to hear about you fucking with me and he’s not going happy.

Loved doing that.

The problem Trump has is a big one: talk radio, along with conservative pundits fucking insane people like Ann Coulter, sold the wall. In order to spin a loss as a win, he has to win talk radio over on that, whereby it will be spun by everyone else.

It is possible that he’s bringing these hosts together to try to float ideas on how to best spin this inevitable loss. He has nothing left except to threaten to fire everyone, and that’s catastrophically stupid, even for a moron like him.

It’s not that out of reach. Brian Kilmeade de facto admitted on Trump’s favorite morning show, one he watches religiously, that the shutdown isn’t working. That to me isn’t insignificant.

Why is this tweet still posted? You need to delete it and apologize because it’s absolutely false, and it reveals that you couldn’t possibly have watched the video.

I didn’t go through the whole response to Cupp’s tweet but those I saw are hammering her pretty good.

But, it won’t make a damn bit of difference with her. She’s too full of herself to admit she was wrong.

Though a wag might argue that, using this definition:

kill one in every ten of (a group of soldiers or others) as a punishment for the whole group.

- that a 12% reduction kinda fits the definition.

More to the point, post Bush, we considerably drew down force in Iraq and Afghanistan, and when you’re not fighting hot wars, you don’t have to spend as much. See also “Peace Dividend”

Louis Armstrong’s original pop release predated Darin’s by two years; I love both of their versions, for different reasons (Armstrong’s for his unique vocal delivery and his horn, Darin’s just as a pure tour de force).

Cold hamberders from two days ago, reheated in the microwave so the bun is dry and hard, and the cheese vulcanizes into the upper bun, where it hasn’t dried up and curled at the corners….

With soggy, reheated fries.

anyone else getting the idea that Ms. Pelosi has had her security briefing regarding what is going on with the Mueller investigation and has decided to stop allowing the bucks to be passed?

Kind of getting the vibe that its especially personal now, in that she is putting her foot down and indicating that this shit stops now and that DJT will get nothing from now on unless there’s a decided benefit to the American public?

When she states something like: “We are not going to be working with President Trump or passing any of his legislation while we await what I am hearing are incredible, factual and damning revelations coming from the Mueller investigations. We are doing this as a way to protect this country from a person who seems to be a foreign asset. It will all be clear once the report is released to the American public.”

It would put Trump in a world of hurt, and force the Republicans to release the report because of Pelosi more or less promising something big.

“Decimate” is a weird word to use describing the military since it was originally used by the Romans to describe killing every 10th soldier as a group punishment when they did something really, really wrong, but you still needed most of them as soldiers.

Had this happened in the modern US military I think we’d have heard about it.

re: #255 Scottish Dragon

“People are talking about the shutdown in terms of poll numbers, Trump’s base, Democrats’ potential compromises. All of that is irrelevant. No one has leverage. Trump doesn’t care about his voters. The shutdown is not a means to an end. It is the end.”

Sarah’s missing one thing. To beat a narcissist, you have to take it to them where it hurts them the most. And Pelosi did. Trump doesn’t care about hundreds of thousands of workers, but he sure as hell cared about losing his SOTU, so much so he pulled a petty move that is backfiring to everyone not named Chris Cilizza.

You have an impetuous man-baby and a house speaker who has known said man-baby for years and years, and it’s not hard to see who has all the leverage.

The only thing Trump can do now are things that are going to blow up in his face. He’s refusing to leave because he’s already in the proverbial bunker. He’s losing the respect of everyone around him but a fraction of true believers, and that won’t win him a damn thing.

But make no mistake… when he caves, or is forced to cave, it will be the end. And it’s apparent he’s going to be forced down somehow.

He’s NOT winning, he’s lost, and he is dead set on losing in the worst way possible.

Wading into a comment section to try to correct conservaderp is sort of like running into a brick wall, repeatedly.

mediaite.com (Jake Tapper: Trump Just Told the Taliban That House Speaker Nancy Pelosi Was Headed to Afghanistan).

The comment section devolved into a Dumpster fire of “Trump sure owned her” and complete misunderstanding about what the Constitution is.

The only thing I disagree with that on is that wouldn’t have caused Trump to come up with his petty response to not being able to do the state of the union.
