Someone was asking in the Kasky tweet for data from one of the people who claim that vaccines don’t help. So, I went to look and see what polio cases were. I found two interesting and telling images.

The first is from CDC data:

CDC Polio Data

The second is from a non-CDC site:

Non-CDC Polio Data

It looks like the group decided to delete the 1954 data point, or just shave it.

I hadn’t even noticed that. I was surprised to see so few cars on the roads.

There were two that I saw. They were those kind with only two colours and a sign that swung out of them.

What I noticed most was how dirty the air was.

The first shot sure looks like downtown Seattle—except for there being no water a couple of blocks away from the bottom of the hill. And the street being two-way, of course.

And that even WITH so few cars compared to the present day. I didn’t realise it was a bad smog day until I saw how badly City Hall was obscured while on the second-to-last street. And then you recall that this was still 20 times better than it would be by about the time I was born.

And now we have people setting aside the Clean Air Act who want to bring it all back.

That looked like LA in the late 1940s, there was an advertisement for an RCA television on one of the billboards. And yes, the smog was really horrible. That was one thing I remember about childhood in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 1960s before the EPA. The pollution from the various industries and refineries off San Pablo Bay and Suisun Bay was awful.

“Kids today don’t know how good they have it.”

You can still see the Red and Yellow car tracks and stops.

I think the first sequence is starting on Grand and then turning west on 4th Street.

Might be a couple that I recognize based on my bus riding. But most of them have been torn down and the houses that used to be on Bunker Hill were all torn down and replaced by massive office towers.

More than that, I think: but still: it’s L.A. How many pedestrians are you ever/have ever been able to find in that city?

Yeah, I noticed the relative lack of traffic, too (time of day??) but did notice that most of the streets were lined with parked cars, and that the parking lots were fairly full. And the smog, of course….

Diggin’ around for some Saturday night music and came across this fun video from the great stylings of Postmodern Jukebox.

This one features two talented sisters on vocals that are also actresses. You can tell they are good at both in the video.

All the vocalists on these PMJ videos blow me away.

It was incredibly fucking stupid. Bezos was already getting divorced, there’s nothing his soon-to-be-ex-wife doesn’t already know, sounds like they’re splitting things up pretty amicably—the NE had nothing to gain here…so they commit blackmail in public! Bezos on the other hand has nothing to lose—I think he’ll enjoy the hell out of bringing these fuckers down.

Glorious!

US art photographer and activist Nan Goldin brought the Guggenheim Museum in New York to a standstill on Saturday night as thousands of fake prescriptions were dropped into the atrium to protest against the institution’s acceptance of donations from the family who owns the maker of OxyContin - the prescription painkiller at the root of America’s opioids crisis.

Tourists and locals gawped in confusion as Goldin and fellow demonstrators began chanting criticism of the Sackler family, who owns Purdue Pharma. The activists handed out fake pill bottles as sheets of paper fluttered down inside the landmark building.

Other protesters unfurled banners from the higher floors, one reading: “Take down their name”, referring to the Sacklers’ links with the institution.

Goldin, who narrowly avoided dying of an opioid overdose after being prescribed OxyContin pills, is campaigning for art and academic institutions in the US and Britain to refuse philanthropy from the multi-billionaire Sacklers .

Miller first, Whittaker second, and Cruz third (there’s not much we can do about Cruz except for every server in the country to spit in his food for the next six years).

After Whitaker’s “testimony”, I don’t think that anyone thinks that bullethead needs to be confirmed as the permanent AG.

He’s not competent, he’s got baggage that can’t be ignored, and he is, quite frankly, not smart enough for the job. So he’s perfect for Drumpf.

Good article here from the Houston Chronicle on rampant sexual abuse within the Southern Baptists - and their leadership’s apparent refusal to do much about it.

Thirty-five years later, Debbie Vasquez’s voice trembled as she described her trauma to a group of Southern Baptist leaders.

She was 14, she said, when she was first molested by her pastor in Sanger, a tiny prairie town an hour north of Dallas. It was the first of many assaults that Vasquez said destroyed her teenage years and, at 18, left her pregnant by the Southern Baptist pastor, a married man more than a dozen years older.

In June 2008, she paid her way to Indianapolis, where she and others asked leaders of the Southern Baptist Convention and its 47,000 churches to track sexual predators and take action against congregations that harbored or concealed abusers. Vasquez, by then in her 40s, implored them to consider prevention policies like those adopted by faiths that include the Catholic Church.

“Listen to what God has to say,” she said, according to audio of the meeting, which she recorded. “… All that evil needs is for good to do nothing. … Please help me and others that will be hurt.”

Days later, Southern Baptist leaders rejected nearly every proposed reform.

Smog was the reason dad said we left LA in ‘66 to head back to PA. He just couldn’t take it anymore. We moved out there in ‘61 when I was just a little baby.

Since I’m a denizen of Noirish LA over at skyscraperpages.com, I’ve seen this video before. Most of the buildings are long gone, though you can see the LA Central Library which is still there and I recognized the old PacBell building. Some have commented that it starts at 1st and Grand, my guess is 2nd since it’s above a tunnel(if it was 3rd we’d see Angle’s Flight). If you are in the LA area you should pay a visit to the LA County Museum of Natural History where they have a permanent exhibit called “Becoming LA”. The have a portion of a model of the city that was constructed by the WPA in the late 30’s.

The smog in that film looks nice and chewy—like the blowby from everybody’s crankcases hovering around. Positive crankcase ventilation started being required on new cars (in California) in, IIRC, 1961. Took a while to do any good, though.

Nah….my dad told me when I was a kid that by the mid-50s, Bunker Hill was becoming a slum and he shared your opinion that one big earthquake probably would’ve knocked down a lot of the buildings there. Drug companies are sitting on generics—43% of recently approved aren’t for sale

Of the more than 1,600 generic drugs approved by the Food and Drug Administration since January of 2017, more than 700—or 43 percent—are not for sale in the US, according to a new analysis by Kaiser Health News.

The finding means that many pricy, brand-name drugs are not facing the competition that could help drive down soaring prices. Among the drugs missing in action are generic versions of the expensive blood thinner Brilinta and the HIV medication Truvada. Moreover, of the approved drugs that would offer a brand-name drug its first competition, 36 percent are being held off the market, the analysis found.

Experts told KHN that the reasons drug makers may withhold an approved generic from the market are varied. Industry consolidation has made buying, manufacturing, and distributing generics more difficult in recent years. Generic drug makers also, as always, face patent litigation from brand-name makers. Then there’s potentially anti-competitive deals, in which brand-name drug makers simply pay generic makers to keep their product off the market for a while—a so-called “pay for delay” tactic.

Lastly, there are internal decisions within a generic company that can lead to shelving a drug. For instance, a drug maker may shift its business strategy while it’s waiting for the drug to get approved, or the maker may delay a drug’s entry to the market until a strategic time.

Heading for another shutdown, folks.

Bipartisan talks aimed at resolving the border wall dispute and averting a government shutdown Friday have broken down and are at an impasse, two people familiar with the situation said Sunday.

The people spoke on condition of anonymity to describe the private deliberations.

Lawmakers had been trading offers, trying to finalize how much money could go to barriers along the border as President Trump demands money for his wall. Trump has called for $5.7 billion, but lawmakers were trying to find a number between $1.3 billion and $2 billion that would be acceptable to both sides.

At the same time, Democrats were trying to limit the number of detention beds that the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency would have access to. Democrats want to cap detention beds as a way to limit aggressive detention activities by ICE. One of the people familiar with the situation said that was the issue that led to the impasse.

Lawmakers and Trump face a Feb. 15 deadline to pass new legislation to keep the government open. If they don’t, large portions of the government will begin to shut down.

When ratings cause you to rethink your interview strategies

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace noted that Mulvaney laughed when he viewed a video clip of acting Attorney General Matt Whitaker being disrespectful to House Oversight Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY).

“Go ahead,” Wallace encouraged. “People will see you laughing at that.”

“Does the president recognize that Congress has an oversight role in addition to its legislative role?” the Fox News host asked.

Mulvaney agreed that “Congress had a right to do oversight,” and he insisted that Trump is “not trying to discourage them from doing it.”

“What he’s saying is, ‘Look, you have a choice, we can either work together on legislation or we can spend all our time doing these investigations but you can’t do both,’” the acting Chief of Staff said.

“Wait,” Wallace interrupted. “You can do both. And presidents have done both plenty of times.”

“Right, but it’s not reasonable to expect the president to work with you on Monday on a big infrastructure bill and then on Tuesday have you punch him in the face over 15 different investigations,” Mulvaney replied.

What was it that Chuck Todd said, if you push back they won’t come on your show anymore. Fox best be careful or they’ll lose their status as the state propaganda network.

Good article here from the Houston Chronicle on rampant sexual abuse within the Southern Baptists - and their leadership’s apparent refusal to do much about it.

houstonchronicle.com

The SBC has resisted creating a database of predators for years and years. They say they can do nothing about it, due to “church autonomy.” That’s garbage. The SBC and its state organizations have had no problem tossing out churches that ordain women or which treat LGBTQ people as equals. But for some reason (I’d say it’s patriarchy run rampant), they refuse to deal with the child sexual predators in their midst.

This is, of course, all of a piece with the Catholic sex abuse scandal, and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram did a package on Independent Fundamental Baptist churches shuttling abusers around in December 2018:

star-telegram.com

I would hazard a guess that child sexual abuse is both rampant and covered up in organizations where the leadership has to be protected at all costs.

Oh, and just to give you a very recent example, here’s the story of a Southern Baptist pastor who was lacerated by a judge from the bench because the pastor brought on a sexual predator as youth pastor.

“You didn’t take a fraction of the efforts that I would call traditional and appropriate and, in hindsight, not compassionate,” Wisch told Kizer from his bench. “… When there are minors involved and it’s clearly a crime, sometimes you have to quarantine part of the flock until you find out if it’s rabies or something weird and go from there.”

The whole thing is worth a read because it demonstrates my two points about protecting the leadership and patriarchy in action. Not even the girl’s parents believed her.

(Sorry if I seem a bit hot about this. I was sexually abused as a kid and I get just a bit crazy about this.)

I seems there are a lot of rats willing to go down with the ship. Speaking of rats, Rudy’s been quiet lately (unless I’ve missed something). Is Dershowitz now Trump’s go to TV lawyer?

In an interview on ABC’s This Week, Dershowitz claimed that AMI had a First Amendment right to threaten to publish nude photographs of Bezos if he did not drop an investigation into their “catch and kill” business practices.

“The First Amendment needs breathing room,” Dershowitz argued. “This is a fight between two media moguls. There was a negotiation. It was a tough negotiation. I’m certainly not here to defend the journalistic ethics of The National Enquirer, but the First Amendment doesn’t distinguish between The Washington Post, ABC News and The National Enquirer.

“I have been practicing law for over 50 years and I have never seen an extortion come in the form of a lawyer,” the law professor added. “You don’t get extortion by mail.”

“Yeah, but the fact that American Media is a media entity does not immunize them from the types of crimes we’re talking about here,” Abrams pointed out.

When ratings cause you to rethink your interview strategies

What was it that Chuck Todd said, if you push back they won’t come on your show anymore. Fox best be careful or they’ll lose their status as the state propaganda network.

It would sure make saving the country easier if they lost that status. And it would make it a whole lot easier if they decided they were no longer going to do it.

Don’t worry, I’m not waiting for either.

True, but “total hack suck-up to keep his mug on the TV” is probably more accurate.

I get the feeling that if Trump were impeached, removed, and convicted of treason, Dershowitz would be defending him up til the last: and then publicly volunteer to be on the firing squad - all in the name of Justice, of course…..

Interesting detail in this story about Maduro desperately trying to stay afloat by exploiting his working class.

……….
The Bolivarian Revolution now leans heavily on ragtag laborers such as Jose Aular, a teenager who says he has contracted malaria five times at a wildcat mine near Venezuela’s border with Brazil. Aular works 12 hours daily lugging sacks of earth to a small mill that uses toxic mercury to extract flecks of precious metal. Mining accidents are common in these ramshackle operations, workers said. So are shootings and robberies.
……..
Even Maduro’s critics acknowledge he has pulled off a neat trick of alchemy: By compensating hard-pressed citizen miners with inflation-ravaged bolivars and obtaining precious metal in return, he has found a way to spin straw into gold.

Doesn’t sound much like the much-dreaded Socialism, does it? Very Trumpish, in fact.

Most of Trump’s corruption wasn’t so well-documented then as it is now. It took almost 2 years of work by Mueller’s excellent large team, plus a bunch of cooperating witnesses, for us to now be able to point to what would have been vague, unsubstantiated allegations of anybody had tried to talk about it then.

What could have been said that would bring him down? He was the worst human being among them all, which is precisely what made him the most desired candidate. Anything that might have ‘exposed’ him would have been glossed over or revelled in. The point was to nominate the worst human possible, because only that would indulge the need for cruelty and regression that US media has created in Americans.

Good point. And I gotta remember the big assist from the media. How many hours of free press did Trump get that really no other candidate got? The media never would have spent the time investigating those allegations when there was an empty podium to show while waiting in breathless anticipation for Trump to show up.

The excuse is Trump is not a typical politician and he doesn’t know about all this Washington stuff, so you have to work with him instead of scaring him.

And that is also why he is investigated…he didn’t know about things like you can’t take campaign donations and election help from foreign countries and you can’t continue your business so that you can make money off of being president.

I mean, who knew???

So no collusion or obstruction because there was no intent to collude or obstruct…even if they did!

About what?

I mean, I could be wrong, but it seems unlikely that the first African slaves brought to Jamestown in 1619 were considered “indentured servants” of any sort. IIRC, English law at the time (and for quite a while afterwards) recognized a definite distinction between the “indentured” and the “enslaved”. The former were considered people - albeit people with (legally) limited rights under the terms of their indenture contracts*. The latter were considered property: who could be bought or sold like any other farm animal or implement.

*Contracts devised and enforced via the laws in effect at the time, and also arguable in judicial terms: colonial court archives are full of indenture actions: an indentured servant could, frex, buy out their contract from their masters: slaves didn’t have that option.

Ummm according to this it was indentured servants first. But slave laws were passed that removed the indentured status.

In 1619 the first black Africans came to Virginia. With no slave laws in place, they were initially treated as indentured servants, and given the same opportunities for freedom dues as whites. However, slave laws were soon passed - in Massachusetts in 1641 and Virginia in 1661 -and any small freedoms that might have existed for blacks were taken away.

Ooops: seems you are right: from Wikipedia

The first 19 or so Africans to reach the English colonies arrived in Jamestown, Virginia, in 1619, brought by Dutch traders who had seized them from a captured Spanish slave ship. The Spanish usually baptized slaves in Africa before embarking them. As English custom then considered baptized Christians exempt from slavery, colonists treated these Africans as indentured servants, and they joined about 1,000 English indentured servants already in the colony

re: #222 Barefoot Grin

I believe that Northam is correct.

That’s kinda my recollection from history as well. Blacks were at first treated as indentured servants, with a fixed time of service, but then white folks decided they didn’t want to let them go at the end of their indenture and they had the law changed. Somewhere along the line they got a court to rule that only blacks could be actual, lifelong slaves whose children were born into the same lifelong bondage.

It may seem like a distinction without a difference, but for my money it reflects worse on the colonists than if they’d just started out with slavery as it eventually developed. They started out with the idea of freeing them after their indenture was up like any other indentured servant, but they liked the free labor so much and so decided the blacks were inferior people whom it was their right to actually own.

Trevor Noah is a sharp thinker.

I liked that bit at the end where he said a lot of times people are afraid to admit they had a racist thought because that gets plastered to you as you being a racist forever so that is it. And then he says “so, there is no value in atoning I guess.”

I hope all people of all races and skin colors take that to heart.

It is only going to change when everyone gives everyone else a chance to learn and atone. Some people will never change of course, but don’t shut the doors on those that have the ability to change by taking an instance and making that someone’s entire life.

It seems too easy to say it will never change and in some ways that allows it all to continue.

Belafon  Feb 10, 2019 • 9:53:30am

Here’s what the city of Hampton, VA has to say on it’s website:

Were the first Africans indentured servants or enslaved?
The historical record does not say for sure, but most historians agree the vast majority of Virginia’s earliest Africans were enslaved. Certainly, they were enslaved on board the Spanish ship San Juan Bautista. When they arrived in Virginia, they were traded as commodities. There are no historical records to indicate they were given regular indenture contracts used by English servants. Once in Virginia, a few Africans may have been treated in a manner similar to white indentured servants or had an opportunity to earn freedom, but existing records do not indicate this was the experience for most Africans, who were enslaved from the outset.

Considering how quickly the laws were changed, it would probably be hard to argue, if you’re being realistic, that they were ever indentured. In part, did they volunteer to come over?

I’m sure Northam is quoting the history he was taught, without thinking about it.

That’s definitely a legitimate point but a lot of especially Irish who were indentured servants didn’t come willingly either. But coming from the same state, I’m sure he is too. I really doubt Northam has read significantly more history than the average Virginian.

The spawn of Satan has some talking points to stick to.

Speaking with host Jake Tapper, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) ignored Tapper’s specific question about Trump’s tweet, where the president made a glib joke about the Trail of Tears — a reference to a shameful genocidal moment in U.S. history.

“The word trail is in all caps and he made a joke talking about Wounded Knee when talking about Elizabeth Warren,” Tapper continued. “You represent thousands of Native Americans in Wyoming. — do you worry about the president joking about these horrific tragedies? “

Cheney skipped right by the attacks and launched her own attack on Warren.

“You know, I have concerns about somebody like Elizabeth Warren pretending to be Native America,” she shot back. “You are absolutely right, I do represent thousands of Native Americans here in Wyoming, and the notion that anybody of any political party would pretend that they were a member of a tribe or pretend they were Native American and would do it as she seems to have done it in order to get benefits, that is, in my view a disgrace.”

“I think she’s made herself a laughingstock” she added.

‘I hear what you’re saying about Elizabeth Warren,” Tapper blandly replied. “But what about the language the president uses and the joking references to genocide against Native Americans?”

“Look, Elizabeth Warren has made herself a laughingstock,” Cheney accused again. “I don’t think anybody should be surprised that that’s been the reaction to her and to her continued claims. We saw just last week, you know, that she said she was a Native American on her application for membership in at least one state bar association.”

“One wonders whether or not that’s grounds for disbarment. I’d say it probably is grounds for disbarment,” she continued, before adding once again, “She’s made herself a laughingstock.”

At that point host Tapper ended the interview.

He’s the worst combination of stupid and cunning. He’s stupid in the sense that he doesn’t really know anything about the job he’s supposed to be doing and is apparently unteachable. That’s stupid, any way you slice it.

But he’s cunning, within certain limits. He’s not cunning enough to broaden his appeal to a larger electorate, which a smart and cunning person could do. And he’s really only successful with people he can dominate, either by having more money, or by being more powerful - like the GOP in Congress, where he’s demonstrated that there’s a price for disloyalty.

But he’s totally at sea with someone who owes him nothing and whom he can’t dominate. He has no idea how to deal with Nancy Pelosi, for example. She lets his insults run off her, doesn’t believe a word he says, and won’t let herself be buffaloed into doing what he wants.

Trump is not intellectually smart. He is obviously not a studied person. He isn’t book smart and I think he probably has trouble with reading comprehension. He is really street smart. He has learned the stuff he needs to survive and get over, so cunning, yeah.

As far as demented, what do you mean by that?

One definition of demented is: driven to behave irrationally due to anger, distress, or excitement.

He sure has that one covered.

As far as dementia of his mental abilities, that is hard to tell but he does show some signs.

re: #297 Hecuba’s daughter

Brian Stelter interviewed Cliff Sims, author of Team of Vipers, on Reliable Sources this morning. His picture of Trump certainly comports with mine — he’s cunning and not stupid or demented.

My view: We underestimate him at our peril. He is vicious and unprincipled, a John Gotti on the national stage; with Putin’s advice, he would be capable of any crime.

I agree, “stupid” is the wrong word. Trump is incredibly ignorant about many things, but he has a master con man’s low cunning and instinct for exploiting weaknesses, and that’s gotten him pretty far.

I never watch the Grammys. It’s a sham put on by a fading record industry to pump up sales of their mega-stars.

Right. So when he says he’s working hard during executive time, he probably is. He’s working hard trying to figure out how to save his own orangy skin, but not doing the work of the people.

Wow, that is a really well done story. Fucking appalling too.

Meanwhile, the Trump administration continues to be truly awful.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced last week that it is close to finalizing a conscience protection rule that would allow people to discriminate in health-care settings under cover of law.

The final rule is at the Office of Management and Budget for review and not available to the public. But under the draft rule, which has been made public, health-care providers would be able to refuse to provide treatment, referrals, or assistance with procedures if these activities would violate their stated religious or moral convictions. The deliberately vague language could apply to everyone from receptionists refusing to book appointments to scrub nurses refusing to assist with emergency surgery.

I think my main problem is that Trump, whether you see him as dumb or a very skilled conman, wouldn’t have gotten as far as he had without a structure that rewarded him for his bullshit even when it was clear that it was bullshit. The difference in coverage between Trump’s chicken eating habits and Gillenbrand’s is key: Trump has been inoculated by enablers all his life. And now he’s stumbled into the biggest enablist structure in the history of the country: the Republican Party.

This is true. I don’t see any particular ability that Trump has to misdirect or exploit weakness. His lies are blindingly obvious, his repetitions banal, and his ability to exploit weakness is hardly Machiavellian - it’s nothing more than blunt threats that he lacks the courage to follow through on. None of this reflects any particular ability on his part. He is where he is because he is enabled and protected - by Republicans, by the entirety of the US media, by foreign agents, and most of all by the hordes of white people who desperately want someone to say all the evil things they think out loud.

Underestimating him will not lead to his second term. What will lead to his second term is the US media and cultural ecosystem that wants the worst possible white man to do the worst possible things.

Once again: to be a Dem in this country is for everything to be your fault. People desperately want everything to be Hillary’s fault so they can justify their intense hatred of her, the Clintons, and Dems as a whole, because heaven forbid the god given true rulers of our country, the Republicans, ever actually be at fault for anything.

EDIT: And the sad thing is that I see this truly from both sides of the aisle: you have the lefter-than-thou folks who, even if they ostensibly oppose Trump, continually treat Hillary and the Dems as the true roadblocks to full left-wing policy utopia, and have decided the Dem party has to be utterly decimated before they can start taking on Trump.

In the grand scheme of things, this is unimportant. But JFC, the guy is paid a healthy salary to spew any thought that stomps through his brain.

Fox News host Pete Hegseth explained on Sunday that he doesn’t wash his hands because “germs are not a real thing.”

Following a commercial break, Fox & Friends co-host Jedediah Bila revealed that Hegseth had been munching on day-old pizza that was left on the set.

“Pizza Hut lasts for a long time,” Hegseth said, defending himself. “My 2019 resolution is to say things on air that I say off air. I don’t think I’ve washed my hands for 10 years. Really, I don’t really wash my hands ever.”

“I inoculate myself,” he continued. “Germs are not a real thing. I can’t see them. Therefore, they’re not real.”

Hegseth argued that his unsanitary habit leaves him immune to sickness.

“These hands look pretty clean to me,” he remarked.

Hegseth is probably going to notice an uptick in the number of guests and co-workers who don’t want to shake his hand.

I think that structure is the Republicans deciding to ride Trump for as much benefit as they could get once they saw his popularity.

They could have taken him down if they wanted. They knew his past and could have made it a big thing. And sometimes I think they decided to take that course knowing they could hide a bit behind Trump’s ratings, and if it blows up they can dump him.

The only big difference between Trump and your common 21st Century Republican is Trump wasn’t hiding anything, he really wasn’t doing typical Republican politics even though he was going to be favorable to them.

They decided they had nothing to lose and much to gain and went all in.

Now, they are in protective mode. They are saving their butts as much as they can while probably also trying to figure out how they can snake their way out of being tied to The Orange Scourge while keeping his base.

Maybe there’s a shower loophole in his “I Haven’t Washed my Hands in 10 Years” proclamation. “Technically, my hands are washing other parts of my body, not each other,” explained Hegseth.

Well, IMO, the only “interesting” part about discussions of the crowds Trump and O’Rourke are likely to draw in El Paso is how much the “MSM” is going to ignore Beto’s draw and go with the (likely mendacious, but in-any-case inflated) numbers Trump and his creatures spout out….

When you watch the media point out little things each (female) Democratic candidate does that they want to find off, remember that Trump paints himself orange, eats steak with ketchup, won’t fund Puerto Rico, has lost children separated from parents, & cowers to Putin.

Close, but no. When you watch the media point out little things like that, ask yourself why they think we should choose the President of the United States on the basis of how she eats chicken. If you get the chance, say it to their faces, and keep repeating it.

It’s long past time for us to stop ceding them the narrative.

His base remains devoted to him. Hitler received a smaller percentage of votes in 1932 than Trump — yet managed to seize complete control. Trump can do the same as long as the Senate Republicans stay on his side. And they will.
