Trump doesn’t listen to the generals. He knows more than them and yes it’s a problem. For him to say this not even a month after that Coastie with ties to command was busted shows how much he wants to ignore this threat.

Be an optimist. Imagine being an ambassador or other State Department functionary in 2022, after the US electorate crushes Trump and scrambles to restore sane governance.

How the hell do you explain the Trump phenomenon to the world community?

Like the last scene of Invasion of the Body Snatchers: “You’re next!!!” The US, due to our apathetic electorate and winner-take-all political system, was the first to elect a Nazi to the highest office, but these factions exist in a lot of countries (as we’ve seen recently), and unless you stomp them down hard (like we will hopefully be doing) the same thing can happen to you.

If we soundly reject his mob in the next election, we can probably undo most of the internal and external damage in a generation. If he’s president in 2022, it might take 500 years.

8 years of Trump guarantees a sufficiently intense climate change disaster that the resulting food, water and resource wars will moot every other issue.

Vice Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui said earlier Friday in Pyongyang that Kim would soon decide if he wanted to continue talks with the U.S. about his nuclear program and whether he plans to maintain his moratorium on tests.

She also claimed that Pompeo and Trump’s national security adviser, John Bolton, created an atmosphere of hostility and mistrust at last month’s nuclear summit in Hanoi, Vietnam. She suggested that while Trump was more willing to talk, Pompeo and Bolton made uncompromising demands of the North Koreans.

Choe said that on the return trip from the summit, Kim asked: “For what reason do we have to make this train trip again?”

She added: “I want to make it clear that the gangster-like stand of the U.S. will eventually put the situation in danger.”

People seem to like Medicare all right. Somebody has to get out in front with a constant refrain:

“Medicare is single-payer Sooooocialized meeeeedicine (oogah-boogah!), just like Canada. Medicare is Canada.

The VA/Tricare is single-provider Soooooooocialized meeeeeedicine (oogah boogah!), just like the UK. The VA is the UK.

Depends on what he thinks is the best choice. The VA operates very well with single provider.

Which covers… 5% of the population? Or less? And part of what makes them more useful than just paying for you to see whatever local doctor you choose is the dedicated research/treatment units for service-related injuries — the prosthetics department, the TBI department, the Agent Orange center…

Single provider for 325 million people would be a monstrously inefficient, inflexible way to go.

So, just been mulling things around, and I realized:

Trump’s big solution to his political problems it to take The Stones at Altamont, Kent State and the the Chicago Democratic Convention, throw all that in a blender, and switch that mother to high.

We are truly and righteously fucked.
