Back to the skies of United Airlines early tomorrow. Making my way to Pittsburgh for a few days of technical seminars. Boring days perhaps but the chance to take in a place I have never been.

So Franky Graham KKKraKKKer getting more marching orders from Vlad!

Franklin Graham, America’s most prominent evangelical leader, says Vice President Mike Pence signed off on his trip to Russia earlier this month. While there, Graham met with sanctioned Kremlin officials — even as U.S. investigations ramped up into Moscow’s election interference efforts. One official Russian governmental social media account touted the meeting as a way to “[intensify] contacts between the State Duma and the U.S. Congress.”

In an interview with RIA Novosti, a major Russian state-run outlet, Graham said he called Pence directly to tell him of the trip. “He was very happy to hear the news,” Graham said. “And he admitted that he fully supported my decision.”

A spokesperson for Graham told ThinkProgress that he is currently traveling and unavailable for an interview. Pence’s office did not respond to ThinkProgress’s requests for comment.

According to interviews in Russian media and photos on his own social media accounts, Graham, currently the chair of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, traveled to Moscow earlier this month to meet with a number of prominent Russian figures. Most notably, Graham had a sit-down meeting with Russian Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, who is close to President Vladimir Putin and who has been sanctioned by the U.S. since 2014 for his role in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Just reading through the morning posts a bit and saw where Roger Stone is pleading the 5th declining to cooperate with the House Judiciary Committee.

Another of those ‘totally innocent’ guys that will meet with anyone, anytime because they have nothing to hide, I guess.

And then when the time comes they really don’t want to meet, they were just trying to look good for their people and act all tough.

Donald Trump’s Twitter binge could be a sign he’s worrying about re-election
Spring has sprung in Washington and Donald Trump has been tweeting with a vengeance. On his hit list this week was Special Counsel Robert Mueller, the ‘fake news’ media, advisor Kellyanne Conway’s husband and the late John McCain.

If you can get the majority of the public to call for impeachment then you may be able to get somewhere. That would influence the senate republicans to consider it.

We are nowhere near that. Inching closer, but it is going to take some huge damning evidence to turn the public.

You would think a sexual deviant, pathological lying crazy man, that has had many of his staff indicted, slammed a dead senator because he still has a score to settle, is being looked at for all kinds of criminal activity, and is fucking up everything here and around the world, might cause some Republicans to consider booting him.

You would think.

C-Springs airport is on the back (east) side of Pike’s Peak. That level of wind gust just *has* to be a compression affect that focused that wind into the area of the airport. Are there holes in the Front Range that can do that? Is Pike’s so much larger than everything else in the area that it could do it?

According to Wiki, which doesn’t evaluate his merits,

Cain served as chairman of the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Omaha Branch from January 1, 1989, to December 31, 1991.[10] He became a member of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in 1992.[10] He served as deputy chairman from January 1, 1992, to December 31, 1994, and then as its chairman until August 19, 1996,[10] when he resigned to become active in national politics.[39]

Pikes Peak rises 10,000 feet or so from downtown Colorado Springs, so yeah, it’s the biggest damn topographical thing around for many miles. Also the Front Range has a bunch of steep canyons that abruptly drain into the plains, that makes big wind events in those parts not uncommon, as the canyons act as a funnel for moving air masses. 96 m.p.h. though, that’s unheard of.

My argument against impeachment right now is that trying it and failing is going to be seen by the public as playing games. They’re far better off trying to investigate, getting out what they can, and reporting over and over that Trump is obstructing Congress’s ability to provide oversight of the Executive branch.

Articles of Impeachment don’t need to be filed tomorrow (I think there’s plenty of evidence in the public domain to warrant it, but I get that others aren’t there yet). But every investigation that the House conducts needs to be approached with no caveats and with the understanding that impeachment is on the table.

Also, I just had a brilliant political fantasy, imagine if you will… Vice President Mike Pence is found to be caught up in some scandal and forced to resign. Trump then must appoint a new VP that must get support in both Houses of Congress (with the very real threat that if he’s impeach or otherwise unable to perform his duties it means President Pelosi). So he’s forced to nominate some moderate that he really doesn’t like. Then, he announces that he will have a different running mate in 2020 because he’s not going to run with the person the Democrats forced on him (or whatever bullshit he tries to feed to the marks). So the sitting VP then says, “fuck it, I’m running” and we have a primary battle on the GOP side between the sitting president and vice president.

I can hear you saying from here “there’s no way that happens” and I’ll just point to everything from 2015 through the present as a counter.

re: #84 KGxvi

To me, the first and most important thing to do is investigate, then publish.

As I noted earlier, and this is a downer for sure, but some non trivial fraction of our electorate simply doesn’t care how bad Trump may be. All they want is their atavism to be treated as normal and they want the power to enforce their atavism.

Now, I do think a majority, if only a slim majority, of the electorate will go for a more sane approach to government.

But it is a fight. The squeaky wheels are getting the attention.

There is no money (for media outlets) to be made with serious discussion. It’s all about the heat that can be generated.

This is why whoever ends up being the Democratic nominee for President has to be not only socially aware but able to present well, to work as a celebrity in a society that has made celebrity status the primary purposes of life.

As if first responders didn’t have enough on their hands with the Deer Park fire, a wanna-be firefighter calling himself “Earthman” had to be turned away by police.

“Earthman” showed up with a garden hose on Day 3 and said he was ready to help fight the fire.

The Strip is a nice zone for some restaurants and being the edge of the Cultural and Museum District. The original Primanti’s is along there as well. Plus not much further up the river into Lawrenceville will get you to the mentioned Church Brew works.

If you’re up in the Oakland neighborhood around the University of Pittsburgh there is another Primanti’s there, the Original (which was a total dive back in the 80s), plus if it’s not late evening going into the Cathedral of Learning is worthwhile in my opinion.* And one of the Pamela’s locations is in Oakland on Forbes Avenue.

* - Cathedral is an interesting bit of gothic-style architecture and the Commons Room on the inside is interesting. Plus if any of the Nationality Rooms are open they are worth a look. The latter are classrooms decorated in the style of one of the Pittsburgh-living ethnic groups.

So, the latest in the unceasing (for now, at least) saga of “Brexit, or, How Great Britain Went Straight Out Of Its Goddamn Mind”:

So what happens now?

Well, nobody knows - probably not even God. Because there are too many imponderables.

If the decision were settled just on where the Brexit preferences of MPs probably lie, the UK would probably pivot to the softest Brexit - the so-called Common Market 2.0 - and go for an undetermined but finite further Brexit extension.

But that route probably blows up the Tory Party completely and would also see a lesser haemorrhaging of Labour: the Tories could split right down the middle, between the Brexiter purists of the ERG and the rest.

And for any of this to happen, backbenchers - led by Boles, Cooper, Letwin et al - would in the coming days have to completely take control of the process of shaping and delivering Brexit from Theresa May and the government.

So there we have it. MPs have a weekend to decide whether to initiate civil war against Theresa May and the government and instigate a once-in-a-century reconfiguration of the structure of political parties.

Smoking strong pot daily raises psychosis risk, study finds

Smoking high-potency marijuana every day could increase the chances of developing psychosis by nearly five times, according to the biggest-ever study to examine the impact of pot on psychotic disorder rates.

The research adds to previous studies that have found links between marijuana and mental health problems, but still does not definitively pinpoint marijuana as the cause.

Competition is fierce but Gateway Pendejo retains his title as the undisputed Stupidest Man on the Internet (freeper re-post)
UK Refuses Iranian Christian Refugee Because “Christianity Is Too Violent”

The U.K. government agency in charge of immigration has come under fire for denying political asylum to an Iranian convert to Christianity and explaining its decision on its contention that the religion is not peaceful.

The Iranian man had said in his asylum petition that he converted to Christianity because it was a “peaceful” religion.

The U.K. Home Office, which oversees immigration and passports, among other things, sent the Iranian national a letter that said the book of Revelations is “filled with imagery of revenge, destruction, death and violence,” according to the Independent.

The real story from The Independent
SMOTI fails to mention that the case is under appeal and that the original decision has been widely denounced, not least by the Home Office itself.

When contacted by The Independent, the Home Office said the letter was “not in accordance” with its policy approach to claims based on religious persecution, and said it was working to improve the training provided to decision-makers on religious conversion.

After many hours spent in talks, 27 European presidents and prime ministers granted Britain an unconditional extension to the Article 50 period until 12 April, and a further extension until the 22 May if MPs approved Theresa May’s withdrawal agreement next week.

It all seems so useless.

How many times will these mini-extensions occur?

April 12 is just a two week extension. If the UK government has had two years and there is nothing done on a leave plan, what difference will 2 weeks make?

The Tories would suffer most; they’d take a far bigger hit than Labour in terms of loss of membership. An outright Article 50 revocation or a super-soft Brexit would probably lead to a fatal Tory split that would take a generation to heal. And yes, no one can fail to notice the supreme irony that Cameron’s 2016 referendum was supposed to settle this once and for all and take the shine off UKIP.

Jimmy Carter is now the longest-lived President in US history.

(Yesterday)
Jimmy Carter is poised to be the president who has lived the longest in US history

This statement is wrong, though:

Before Thursday, Carter had already set the record for being the former president to live the longest after leaving office, at more than 38 years. Gerald Ford, the 38th president, was the previous record-holder. He died at 93, nearly 30 years after he left office.

At 29 years and 11 months, Ford was never the record-holder. Herbert Hoover lived 31 years and 7 months after leaving office (till October 20, 1964).

LifeWay, the Largest Christian Retailer in the Country, is Closing All Stores

LifeWay, the largest Christian retailer in the country, will officially close its doors later this year and sell merchandise online only.

If you’re not a Christian, you may have heard of LifeWay from its previous controversies in which they removed books by authors who affirm marriage equality, referred to female genitalia, and claimed to have visited Heaven (at least after it was discovered that said visitor made the whole thing up).

This is clearly a business decision, as more and more brick-and-mortar stores grapple with uncertainty about the digital future. But it probably didn’t help that the company’s strict standards for “acceptable” Christian material alienated many believing customers.

Brexit: What just happened?

Mrs May was forced to ask EU leaders to delay Brexit after the UK Parliament twice overwhelmingly rejected the deal she had agreed with the EU on how to withdraw from the bloc and voted against a no-deal exit.

EU leaders are among those who fear the UK leaving the bloc without a deal would lead to chaos.

Mrs May had hoped to persuade the EU to delay the 29 March Brexit date - which is set in law - to 30 June.

Instead the 27 EU leaders offered her two dates:

A delay until 22 May if MPs approve her withdrawal deal in a vote next week

A shorter delay until 12 April if they reject it. By that time the UK must set out its next steps - either another extension or leaving without a deal

But the EU says a further extension beyond 12 April is only possible if the UK agrees to hold European elections on 23 May.

Mrs May has said the UK will not take part in the vote.

This has to be a Monty Python skit.

C-Springs airport is on the back (east) side of Pike’s Peak. That level of wind gust just *has* to be a compression affect that focused that wind into the area of the airport. Are there holes in the Front Range that can do that? Is Pike’s so much larger than everything else in the area that it could do it?

This sounds like a Hail Mary on May’s part, hoping that none of the alternatives pass, so that her deal seems like the only “reasonable” one on the table. And if one of the alternatives does pass, shift blame for the resulting chaos to the MPs who voted for it.

At this point, that may be the only workable strategy she has left. It’s abysmal that it’s come to this, but there’s precious little else she can do.

Then she can basically wash her hands of the whole affair, resign as PM and trigger a new General Election, and write her memoirs or something.

Oh, I know. If anything, it’s highly irresponsible.

But in a gallows humor way, it’d be a fitting end to the whole Brexit fiasco. An irresponsible and ill-advised referendum blowing up in the face of the man who proposed it, leading to a government determined to carry out the result of that ill-advised referendum as though it were nothing less than divine writ, two years of bumbling, posturing and flagrant incompetence, and finally ended with the parliamentary equivalent of, “Well, it’s all a bit shit, innit? Fuck it, let’s go get a pint.”

It’s the obstruction charges that will get him. He will crow about “NO COLLUSION!,” and the rest of us will say, “OK, little man. But the obstruction. Can you say ‘Nixon?”

Mueller may have direct collusion charges. That would be excellent. But my bet is that it’s obstruction that he is airtight on.

We don’t need Mueller at all: Trump’s violations of the Emoluments Clause and his conflicts of interest are egregious enough to speak for themselves.

I found the briefing I got today amusing since it rang a lot of bells with me in being similar to the old Paranoia RPG I played back in the mid-1980s.

* - Arma 3 is a first-person computer game that can be played single or multi-player. The base campaigns are modern day and/or near future military equipment. User created mods have added a lot more equipment and maps, including equipment based on Halo, 40K, Star Wars, etc. in addition to World War 2 equipment and vehicles.

and revoking Article 50 or going for a super-soft Brexit would massively strengthen the UKIP, as all the Leave supporters would abandon the Tories and Labour out of a sense of betrayal…while one major reason that Cameron went for Brexit in the first place was to undermine the UKIP.

I am not an expert on British politics, but I thought I read that Brexit support cut across party lines and that it is much less popular now than it was before. I don’t see how either of those points would help boost support for a far right party that everyone now realizes led a liar’s campaign for Brexit.

Why would a center-left supporter of the Labour Party suddenly jump to a neo-fascist party? Hell, why would anyone after how they saw these negotiations play out? Is there anyone who really thinks that Nigel Farage could do better?

What I want to know is why any President needs a “foil” especially a dead man. But then again I remember that Trump voters aren’t interested in having a President, they’re interested in having a raving ideologue.

Yeah, although DrumpF isn’t really an ideologue, or at least not in the sense I always imagined it. He doesn’t think enough to really be an ideologue.

But he is an ideologue on the most important issue, though (white supremacy, immigration, etc). This is what has always thrown me about the fawning between wingnut conservativism and Drump. I’d always assumed they’d want more than this.

I am not an expert on British politics, but I thought I read that Brexit support cut across party lines and that it is much less popular now than it was before. I don’t see how either of those points would help boost support for a far right party that everyone now realizes led a liar’s campaign for Brexit.

People would abandon Labour, perhaps not for the UKIP, but for any number of other fringe parties over a sense of betrayal, alienation and disenfanchisement.

re: #215 Scottish Dragon

The writing in the series got lazy. Basically, set the good guys up for failure every time and let the bad guys win. Also, peasant revolts against tyrants were a real thing and GOT doesn’t really account for that. Cersie would not be tolerated as a ruler after blowing up a quarter of King’s Landing and exterminating the church.

The whole church thing in GOT comes to a head in the 5th book which also ties into the peasant revolts. Along with the slave revolts around Slavers Bay.

I have not seen the TV show. The books are good. Book 1 is good, Book 2 is great, Book 3 was awesome, Book 4 was horrid, Book 5 was good/great but frustrating.

That was just the church…which wasn’t a revolt since it was an alternative power structure.

Real peasant revolts in France (The Jacquerie ), England during the 100 Years War, and the Holy Roman Empire all happened as responses to severe social, economic and religious pressure and I cannot see how the events in Martin’s universe would not have prompted a revolt lead by commoners. Cersei in particular is loathed.

There is a small group of weirdos enthusiasts who treasure and restore surviving Edsels rather than, say, donating them to the nearest fishing reef. There are 25 Edsels for sale at Hemmings. The re-styled ‘59 was only butt-ugly and therefore a big improvement over the ‘58, but that isn’t saying much and it was too late anyway.

I’m just getting to Wat Tyler’s revolt in my book on the Plantanglets. I don’t know as much about medieval history as I do modern history but my impression is that a lot of people think that medieval kings could do whatever they wanted without fear of reprisals is that’s not the case. Ultimately they were autocratic but they still had to make the right people happy i.e. the lords and church.

Stagecoach was a much better movie than I expected. Yeah, all the usual 30’s tropes were there but the writing was strong and it remains one of Wayne’s best performances. Probably forced out of him by the fact it was “now or never” for him. He didn’t reach that high again until The Searchers or possibly The Shootist.

Hmmm… peasants were tied to their local Lords. Seems as if the local Lords are mostly well liked - though the last 2 books shows cracks in that. There are at least hints to this happening in the last book (with the outlaws and Stoneheart).

Maybe think of it like this. People hate congress, but like their Rep and keep sending them back. As long as the local lord is liked the power structure stays safe and there arent enough local Lords pissing off their peasants to create a general revolt across the board.

Just a thought - not trying to start a full blown GOT /real word argument :)

They also fail to understand that “alpha male” is simply a designation of the role that a particular male plays in a certain social group. And it is subject to change over time.

There is a lot more to it than they are about to even try to grasp.

In addition, there are plenty of beta males who have learned to take advantage of the alphas fighting each other for dominance and quietly win the attention of the females…

The Great Escape was my WWII movie pick because I really like the against all odds aspect of it all. Only John Leyton(Willie), Charles Bronson (Danny), and Sedgwick (James Coburn) actually successfully escape but the journey towards the escape is as much part of the story as the actual escape itself. And it really inspires my imagination. As someone who has been in the heart of Germany and Europe, I find myself wondering how I would act if I were an escaped POW. How would I blend into crowds. How I would try to avoid drawing suspicious. Where would I flee to. It’s a bit cheery in how it feels (though it’s strongly accurate for a movie of its era even though they used composite characters and changed names) and almost romantic in that it’s really not a dark film at all like the later BBC series about Colditz Castle or later WWII films but it lays down a great foundation for inspiring one’s imagination.

I like how a bunch of us have gone with Coen Bros films. I think there’s something about the Coens in how they tell stories. It’s humor, it’s darkness, it’s insightful and it’s done through great storytelling through the plots, characters, and music. I’d say the McDonaghs, the brother set whose one brother directed In Bruges and the other The Guard are very much the Irish Coen Brothers.

What gets me is how often “alpha male” behavior simply seems to translate as “act like a stuck-up asshole”.

Because that’s described most of these fuckwits to a “t.” They want all the benefits of a relationship without any of the responsibilities. They’re the sort of assholes who think they deserve some form of sexual gratification for taking a woman out on a date.

Bambi Meets Godzilla, 1969.

But it was 1974 by the time I saw it.

I’ll think of another one.

The Checkers Speech was good that year. Doesn’t really count as a movie just because I saw it in a theater.

Yeah I hear ya. I didn’t include one film from my favorite decade the 70’s for film. I basically like films that have some comedy to them, some darkness, know how to use music, have memorable characters, and inspire my imagination. The five I chose all have some elements of that.

re: #277 Wendell Zurkowitz ((slave to the waffle light))

They also fail to understand that “alpha male” is simply a designation of the role that a particular male plays in a certain social group. And it is subject to change over time.

There is a lot more to it than they are about to even try to grasp.

In addition, there are plenty of beta males who have learned to take advantage of the alphas fighting each other for dominance and quietly win the attention of the females…

Early researchers were usually male and already had an idea about how animals’ social networks operated. They tended to ignore female choice and favor of the biggest, baddest male in town “owning” a harem. Real life is far more complex.

Thanks. Never saw that movie. I think I would like it just for the music alone. I really think good movies can make the music a character in itself. That’s why I went with Goodfellas. Goodfellas also is your classic rise and fall story.

I love Raiders and the Last Crusade but I felt they didn’t make the cut. That said, they do have the Nazis as a foil and the Nazis as a foil is something I love whether it’s comedic foil in The Producers and more serious in The Great Escape. My animation pick would have probably been the South Park movie. I don’t agree with Matt and Trey’s politics. Recent South Park still makes me laugh but it’s too current events driven. I think the episodes of that show and I wonder if VB and anyone else here who enjoys the show would agree with me that the better and more memorable episodes are the ones that aren’t CE driven.

Rod Dreher has posted his wet dream manifesto.

here is one choice bit:

But even during the Cold War, this conservatism too often tracked the same lodestar liberalism did—namely, individual autonomy. The fetishizing of autonomy paradoxically yielded the very tyranny that consensus conservatives claim most to detest.
America’s public philosophy now puts great stock in “the right to define one’s own concept of … the mystery of human life,” as Justice Anthony Kennedy, the libertarian conservative par excellence, wrote while upholding the constitutional “right” to abortion. But this vast leeway to discover the meaning of existence extends to destroying the freedom and lives of others (the unborn child’s, in the case of abortion).
Yes, the old conservative consensus paid lip service to traditional values. But it failed to retard, much less reverse, the eclipse of permanent truths, family stability, communal solidarity, and much else. It surrendered to the pornographization of daily life, to the culture of death, to the cult of competitiveness. It too often bowed to a poisonous and censorious multiculturalism.

There’s more:

In recent years, some have argued for immigration by saying that working-class Americans are less hard-working, less fertile, in some sense less worthy than potential immigrants. We oppose attempts to displace American citizens. Advancing the common good requires standing with, rather than abandoning, our countrymen.

Jews will not replace us!

This is freaking nuts.

That’s one giant projection of derp by Rod. No one has said that working class Americans (a group I doubt Rod really knows too much about) are worth less than immigrants but more rather that both are equals. And Rod if he weren’t a horse’s dingus would know that if we had done what he wanted on “multiculturalism” would have never been able to embrace Eastern Orthodoxy.

The books and the TV series have so diverged that there is little resemblance to the story line; the big events will probably happen in the books( if they are ever written) but how they are handled will be totally different.

As I recall, Cersie blamed the explosion on someone else. Since she controlled the military, and all he opponents in King’s Landing had just been killed, she was able to hold on to power, even if a lot of people doubted her innocence. I believe that is the TV version.

The book version goes a different route.

Cersie destroys the Tower of the Hand after her father is killed (by her brother).

Cersie doesn’t clip the power of the religion - she actually expands it - thinking it would help her in the long run.

She also loses all power after her Uncle comes back and is released by the head of the church while all the sparrows are in Kings Landing.

I think I got that right… been a year since I read all the GOT books (that are released… still waiting on the last one).

She is fighting on two or three fronts, and nobody believes her story, pretty sure. In the 1500 era Holy Roman Empire, she would be dead inside a week.

However, the peasant revolt has to wait for the Night King showdown.

There’s a film coming out about how completely fucked up Norwegian Black Metal got in the early Oughts, and the guys who lived it are talking about it: ‘Before you know it, it’s not a big deal to kill a man’: Norwegian black metal’s murderous past

That period of my life is a swampy lake with skeletons in it,” says Rune Eriksen, AKA guitarist Blasphemer. “This will probably be one of the very few moments I’m willing to go back and talk about it.”

It has been 11 years since Eriksen left Mayhem, the world’s most aptly named band. He joined in 1994, rejuvenating the Norwegian black metal group after their guitarist Øystein Aarseth, known as Euronymous, had been murdered by their former bassist Varg Vikernes, AKA Count Grishnackh. Three years before that, their singer Pelle Ohlin, also known as Dead, killed himself. Understandably, Eriksen has moved on.

Norwegian black metal, though, is inseparable from its history. This month sees the release of Lords of Chaos, director Jonas Åkerlund’s intense dramatisation of events, focusing on the friendship and fatal rift between Aarseth (played by Rory Culkin) and Vikernes (Emory Cohen). It is bruising and brutal - when it screened at the London film festival last November, a man vomited, a woman fainted and an ambulance was summoned.

To quote Cartman: ‘That’s pretty fucked up right there, dude.’

His exact words right? He has like no idea or tbh worse concept that Kim’s people fear him which is why North Koreans act like they love Kim. It amazes me he can red bait Maduro and even the domestic moderate left but act like Kim is this great guy beloved by his people. Maduro should have kissed his ass more. If he had, Trump would be singing his praises.

Yeah, the hacking is really not that big of a deal. And I honestly don’t have a problem with Sanders’ wealth….just the self righteousness and the pathetic efforts to hide his situation.

Booker is a different story, and Gillibrand’s clumsiness combined with her opoid bill is knocking her down in my personal judgement.

I’ll admit that Beto really got my attention when it came out he was an early member of the Cult of the Dead Cow.

Yet more than two years later, we speak with one voice: There is no returning to the pre-Trump conservative consensus that collapsed in 2016. Any attempt to revive the failed conservative consensus that preceded Trump would be misguided and harmful to the right.

But their answers to what should be the new conservativism (oxymoron that it is) is sort of an American version of Christian Democracy. I don’t think that’s the answer, because I believe the world (and most of the US) continues to move in a secular direction, but hey, let them try to sell those ideas…

One of the reason I love Cohen brothers flicks, even though I didn’t put any of theirs on my list, is they tend to do all of what I like in their movies. Take Barton Fink. It’s thick with darkness, black comedy and fucks with your mind.

I think Hunchback of Notre Dame is way underrated. It is one of the most beautiful animations Disney ever made, with excellent songs. Also some very dark, adult themes for a “children’s” movie, specifically the lust of the white man for the darker-skinned exotic female.

I consider the economic system with government ownership/collectivization to fall under Communism. In a pure Socialist system, companies would be owned by the workers and decisions important to the company would be made Democratically. This would favor smaller companies as well, hopefully avoiding the “Too big to fail” problem.

Robert Shaw’s U.S.S. Indianapolis monologue from Jaws is another great moment. Not entirely ad-libbed; the story goes is that it was written by John Milius, but it was ten pages long. Shaw, who was a fine writer himself, whittled it down to about five pages. And delivered an Oscar-worthy performance in about four minutes.

That whole thing was bonkers in that Milius documentary. He just did the whole thing extemporaneously in a phone booth to or some such to Spielberg at night as Spielberg was writing it all down.

So NK and Kim have effectively shut down any gains that Trump supposedly made and now South Korea is left pretty much where they were before Trump was elected, but with less protection from the US?

And Kim and NK are stronger on the world stage, are building nukes again and are more a threat to SK than ever.

Is that about right?

Wonderful. The greatest negotiator ever.

Same results as much of Trump’s actual business career, failure and leaving others holding the bag with all the problems in it.

This is the real Trump. The Trump that wasn’t on TV in a FAKE REALITY SHOW!

And if people and the media had checked and vetted Trump like they should have they would have seen this coming.

We are a very stupid country, especially when an idiot like Trump caters to the lesser among us, and the media decides to report the catering and not the damn facts.
