The most malicious admin in at least my lifetime. Hands down, no question about it. From the Muslim ban, through the assaults on the ACA, the child separation policy and the obviously false declaration “we are full”. Unbelievable. Did any other Presidents cabinet ever have two votes for the 25th?

Section 4 of the 25th Amendment has never actually been invoked. The closest we came was when Reagan was shot and hospitalized.

Sorry if I seem scarce the past few days - my homeowner’s woes got a lot worse when we discovered several big cracks in the main plumbing line connecting to the sewer system. Had to get fixed right away at a cost of almost 2 grand. Ouch.

We had a termite inspection scheduled by the association, and fortunately they didn’t find termites, but unfortunately they did find a leaking pipe in the crawlspace. When the plumber went to fix that minor leak he spied the cracks in the main line.

When he pulled that section of pipe out, he actually was able to split it apart along the crack with his bare hands, so this thing was about to blow. Good thing we caught it in time, but man this shit gets expensive.

Sorry, you’ll have to choose another letter—R is already taken:

July was a rough month for QAnon followers. After making a post on July 4, Q didn’t leave any clues for 20 days, marking the longest gap between Q hints since the scheme began in late October 2017. That left QAnon believers without much to do, leaving their imaginations to run even wilder than usual. It also meant that anyone who wanted to sway the often very gullible people who believe in QAnon had a chance to sway them in a new direction.

Around the middle of July, a new figure named “R” appeared in the 8Chan forum devoted to QAnon “research.” (“R” is the letter in the alphabet after “Q.”) The anonymous poster, who was soon dubbed “Ranon,” posited that Kennedy hadn’t actually died in a plane crash off the coast of Massachusetts. Instead, he’d faked his death to avoid the supposed deep-state cabal that is at the center of QAnon and teamed up with Trump to kick off a decades-long strategy. While Trump had laid the groundwork for his presidential bid, QAnon believers posited, Kennedy had become Q.

Yeah, these people are tightly wrapped—for sure.

freetoken  Apr 10, 2019 • 6:19:26pm

There was another big science new story today, dwarfed by the black hole story (puns intended):

New human species found in the Philippines

A new species of Homo from the Late Pleistocene of the Philippines

A hominin third metatarsal discovered in 2007 in Callao Cave (Northern Luzon, the Philippines) and dated to 67 thousand years ago provided the earliest direct evidence of a human presence in the Philippines. Analysis of this foot bone suggested that it belonged to the genus Homo, but to which species was unclear. Here we report the discovery of twelve additional hominin elements that represent at least three individuals that were found in the same stratigraphic layer of Callao Cave as the previously discovered metatarsal. These specimens display a combination of primitive and derived morphological features that is different from the combination of features found in other species in the genus Homo (including Homo floresiensis and Homo sapiens) and warrants their attribution to a new species, which we name Homo luzonensis. The presence of another and previously unknown hominin species east of the Wallace Line during the Late Pleistocene epoch underscores the importance of island Southeast Asia in the evolution of the genus Homo.
