Yesterday, Joker from the video game “Persona 5” was added to the Smash Bros video game on the switch. With this one, though, they didn’t just add a character. They added a level to represent the game, that changes colors and music to represent the other Persona games. They added a level builder. Joker’s moves and attacks are drawn from the game. They added other characters from Persona 5 as support. When he wins, the screens look like they’re from Persona 5 and not Smash.

My youngest is so excited.

Drip. Drip. Drip. Let the information out. Investigate the hell out of this administration.

A successful endgame for impeachment is not necessarily just conviction. If the Senate lets Trump off, but 73% of the American public is convinced by the evidence Trump is guilty as hell, there’ll be an enraged populace that’ll sweep the Republicans out of office.

But if you go at the wanna be king, you best not miss. You need that angry populace. And you get it by keeping on the pressure and letting the fool make an idiot of himself with his “defenses.”

Weird. I was invited today to appear on a live TV show on CGTN America.

Uh.

CGTN America has registered as a foreign agent under the Foreign Agent Registration Act on February 1, 2019, amid growing concerns from the United States Department of Justice an “expanding influence campaign being waged by Beijing through the global arms of state media outlets”.[9] The Guardian’s Louisa Lim and Julia Bergin wrote that while the China “Communist Party has always maintained a tight grip over domestic media, their strategy has shifted in recent years to spread that control globally”, by “exerting their influence on media abroad, through a multifaceted approach that includes offering generous salary packages to recruit talented journalists away from local media in Africa, Latin America, and elsewhere; buying advertising supplements in mainstream foreign publications; buying foreign media companies outright; and making deals with local broadcasters in Africa and elsewhere to spread their content in local markets”. During President Xi Jinping’s tour of state media outlets in February 2016, he emphasized that they must “speak for the Party,” and, further, that they must expand their influence abroad in order to “tell China’s story to the world.”[10] After registering with the FARA, CGTN America director general Ma Jing and a dozen other staffers were recalled to Beijing.[11]

CGTN initially claimed that it had “editorial independence from any state direction or control”. This was debunked by New York Times reporter Paul Mozur in interviews with “current and former CGTN employees [who] say CCTV editors in Beijing often dictated plans for covering China. American employees sometimes pushed back, they said, and Ms. Ma allowed some flexibility when Beijing’s orders didn’t specifically forbid or dictate content. But three people interviewed said they had little choice but to air propaganda clips when Beijing said so”.[12][13] CGTN employees were disciplined when a news report mentioned Falun Gong, the religious group labeled as a cult and banned by the PRC. The flag of Taiwan, the self-governing island that is claimed by PRC, are banned from broadcasts. In November 2018, amid growing international criticism of China’s imprisonment of hundreds of thousands of Muslim Uighurs in indoctrination camp programs designed to discourage Islam, CGNT America aired a piece portraying the camps as successful vocational training and antiterrorism centers and Uighurs as grateful. In addition, CGTN America has broadcast “exclusive” coerced confessions of people accused of a wide variety of crimes in China, most notably the example of a Briton, Peter Humphrey.

It really wouldn’t surprise me if sometime in the next few days to a week Trump does some really horrible thing like actually following through with closing the southern border or taking the “Little Rocket Man” anti-diplomacy against N. Korea to the next level (using their recent military announcements as provocation) to fire up/distract his base and try to retake control of the news cycle.

And the media will be obligingly stupid enough to drop the bone and chase the squirrel.

They didn’t really do all that much spelling in the 19th century.

American’s appear to have worried about it more than Brits.

Webster’s Dictionary is probably the best emblem of this movement in America. I’ve always wondered if the inferiority complex of Americans stem from the fact that many 18th century colonials and post Rev. War immigrants were in fact illiterate, and that was a giant source of shame that got propagated and caused such things as an emphasis on proper spelling in schools.

As Jewish tradition, participants in Passover Seders ask the question: “Why is this night different from all other nights?”

This year, the answer for at least 1,500 people will be: Because it’s their first Seder ever.

A slate of prominent Jewish organizations are drumming up first-time attendance at Seders across the country — based on the belief that acquainting new people with the beloved Jewish Seder ritual can help reduce anti-Semitism.

After all, who doesn’t enjoy a Seder?

The program is the brainchild of Marnie Fienberg, a resident of Northern Virginia whose mother-in-law, Joyce Fienberg, 75, was one of 11 worshipers killed at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue in October, when a gunman rampaged the synagogue in an anti-Semitic attack. Devastated, Fienberg cast about after the attack for ideas. What could she do to reduce bias against Jews, which only seems to be increasing in the United States today, based on hate crime statistics?

She hit upon an answer in her memories of Joyce: the Seder.

Brazil’s Bolsonaro sees threat in Russia, considers hosting U.S. base

Brazil is open to hosting a U.S. military base to counter Russian influence in the region, the South American country’s new far-right president said.

Jair Bolsonaro, who took office on Tuesday, is a fan of U.S. President Donald Trump and a fierce critic of Venezuela’s socialist President Nicolas Maduro.

Felt safe and people weren’t any higher in Lisbon and Cascais than they are in DC. I do think legalize now people have to realize it will be a process.

If the US can side with Stalin to defeat Hitler. I can make common cause to defeat Trump. That said, I do wish more of the anti Trump conservatives could see that their ideology is the problem as much as Trump himself.

In WWII the Nazi’s were the most immediate existential threat. Uncle Joe wasn’t really any nicer, but he was more inclined to taking out his paranoia at home and thus could be worked with.

I dunno. Even married people can be miserable. I guess with some of these guys and gals, I can’t see them having joy. Bush? Yes awful President and yes this doesn’t change his actions but I can see that he loves his family and likes people. He was at a naturalization ceremony and frankly spoke well on why those ceremonies are wonderful. Greenwald just seems miserable. I don’t know why. He lives well enough, is married, and has a legion of people who take him seriously.

Good points.

That’s because vowels are perpetrated as part of the patriarchy. This is science fact. “Rhythm” has no vowels. Your spelling bee apparently knew you supported women’s rights even then. /s

I mean. I get the wariness because Trump didn’t come out of nowhere and Kristol and Walsh have some pretty repulsive views independent of Trump and you can definitely blame the GOP apparatus whether in office or print media for why he was viable but I’m honestly relieved when a conservative goes after Trump using similar language I would because it assures me my disgust isn’t partisan. Doesn’t mean I like that person but it to me anyhow shows that person has some independent thought and maybe even some personal decency. And you know what, maybe just maybe it will teach them their ideology isn’t as great as they thought it was. I definitely credit Bernie for showing me how far lefties can be as dismissive of concerns to women, poc, & immigrants.

Photo and caption: David Edgar. I took this photo of an adolescent humpback whale in the South Pacific, several miles off the coast of Tongatapu, Tonga. I captured this as a split-shot with half my dome port submerged, and the other above the surface. This playful whale came right up to me and looked directly into my eyes as the tip of his rostrum glistened in the afternoon sun. Looking closely, you can see Loni, our expert skipper, lining up a surface shot of this incredible encounter from the roof of our dive boat.

I think it’s entirely fair. He would pull the lever for (R) Beelzebub before any Democrat.

Walsh was a GOPTP Congressman. He is only upset at Trump’s tone, not Trump’s policies.

“So what’s interesting is, Trump and I really married on a number of these populist issues: secure the goddamn border, get illegals out of this country, blow up sanctuary cities. And Islam has a problem—let’s not be Europe,” he says. “These issues of populist security resonate—stuff I’ve been talking about for a long time—I think more than anything with Trump’s voters. When Donald Trump said, you know what, you’re not a country if you don’t have borders—duh. Such an obvious thing. That got him elected. So I think it’s those issues that the average American felt like, ‘I got a government that’s more concerned about people in this country illegally than me; we’re letting Muslims into this country who aren’t assimilating. What the f—?’”

Is Joe Walsh Really ‘Woke’? (Goes to that bastion of liberal though, Bill Kristol’s Weekly Standard)

Nordstrom is Selling Pairs of Dirty Jeans for $425

You just can’t make this stuff up, folks. High end retailer Nordstrom is making headlines for one of their newest products, which has many of us rolling our eyes.

In recent weeks, the store began selling the Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans. But these are no regular pair of pants. They are intentionally distressed and have “a crackled, caked-on muddy coating.”
The arguable fashion statement drew ire from Dirty Jobs star Mike Rowe, who wears pants that are very similar to these. But they actually got dirty from enduring manual labor.

“The Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans aren’t pants,” Rowe argued on Facebook. “They’re not even fashion. They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic — not iconic.”

Depends on your point of view who burned the church I guess. (The mayor of Paris said the fire is accidental, and getting on top of Notre Dame without authorisation would be tough.)

If you peruse the Christian video channels on YouTube, a whole bunch of them are claiming it was (an) atheist(s) who burnt the church, and atheists around the world are cheering the fire (regardless of the Christian franchise the channel represents).

I’ve been to Notre Dame (and other important cathedrals in Europe). I think it’s a tragedy of immense proportion. I can’t think of any atheist who would cheer the burning of any building, including a church.

There’s a far-right faction of fascists, white supremacists, theocrats, and other kinds of authoritarians, who like to call themselves Conservative (capital C, noun). They had to redefine the word to adopt that branding.

Then there’s a diminishing number of people who are actually conservative (small C, adjective). These conservatives…. they really truly believe in Rule of Law and Personal Responsibility as principles, not just slogans for the IOKIYAR’s to selectively pretend to care about. For them, no amount of preferred judges and desirable tax rates will justify the lies and corruption and emoluments and other criminality. These are the Never-Trumpers.

Hudson News is buying The National Enquirer and its sister rags for $100M, according to the Washington Post.

American Media Inc. is selling the National Enquirer for $100 million to James Cohen, CEO of Hudson News, ending an association between a longtime friend of President Trump and the tabloid that illegally attempted to bury embarrassing news about Trump during the 2016 campaign.

The supermarket tabloid, along with two sister publications, is set to be purchased by the head of the travel retailer known for its airport newsstands.

The decision to sell came after Anthony Melchiorre, the hedge-fund manager whose firm controls AMI, became disillusioned with the reporting tactics of the Enquirer and the legal and political pressure that resulted from them, according to people familiar with the deliberations.

Today in clickbait:

Scientists have established a link between religious fundamentalism and brain damage (Goes to Raw Story)

TL;DR version: A study was published at PubMed
ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (full text of study)
Testing was conducted on 119 Vietnam War veterans who suffered penetrating brain injuries to a particular part of the brain, the ventromedial prefrontal cortex.

This part of the brain is considered critical to religious belief and extreme political conservatism. The study compared the test subjects to a control group of 30 Vietnam War veterans with no brain damage.

They found that in addition to damage to the ventromedial prefrontal cortex, damage to the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex also causes rigidity in religious belief.

They also noted that people so injured tended to rate radical political positions as moderate.

From the study:

In general, religious beliefs tend to differ from empirical beliefs. Although people may think subjectively of religious belief as a true or false representation of how the world is, it is notable that certain religious beliefs do not generally update in response to evidence, and that conservatism is especially notable in the case of fundamentalist beliefs. Empirical beliefs are indications of how the world appears to us and are updated according to accumulated evidence. Fundamentalist religious beliefs, in comparison, do not track and predict variation in the world. Rather, they appear to track, and predict, social group-level commitments (Bulbulia & Schjoedt, 2012).

Further down in the study, they note the issue of intelligence and religiosity, previously studied by a different group in 2013. That study showed a small but measurable difference in intelligence.

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov (abstract of the 2013 study)

This study used the Armed Forces Qualification Test, since those scores were available for the Vietnam veterans. They noted a significant drop in AFQT scores amongst the veterans who had brain injuries and increased fundamentalist beliefs, with no change in those who were not injured.

The study in no way suggests you have to be brain-damaged to be either a fundamentalist religious believer or a conservative. The Raw Story headline and body of the story implies that until you get way down in the bottom of the article.

Mostly I shy away from those sort of claims… it’s very difficult to show causality in human character traits in general and something as vague as “religion” is going to be even more of a challenge to analyze.

While there have been previous research trying to link attraction to certainty (which is expressed in religious fundamentalism or political “conservatism”) with various genetic causes, frankly complex human traits are polygenic and the correlations demonstrated don’t rise to near anywhere a physical science requires for evidence (though social science seems quite happy with just one sigma values.)

I can only offer anecdotes from my own life; I do not have the means or education to try to mount a study.

That said, the idea “it’s too hard” has never really been an issue with scientific study.

Such studies as the ones above will be further examined by others, and either buttressed or rebutted. This is a relatively new field of study.

the human condition is very complex - typically any study that describes something specific applying to a group of people, is often under a very specific set of circumstances. It’s a fairly common problem in psychology reporting (even scientists do it themselves when trying to sum up their research).

I know everything about psychology because my mother is a clinical psychologist. /s

Seriously though, the study in question (not the Raw Story clickbait) did study a narrow set of circumstances: People who were injured in a specific brain area and for whom they had AFQT scores.

The claim of the study (besides the usual claim in any study of “this needs more study”) was on medical issues affecting behaviour.

It’s well-known that changes in the brain in anything from disease to brain injury to Alzheimer’s Disease cause changes in behaviour. In the case of that study, they were looking for specific behaviours (change to fundamentalist beliefs).

A commentator over at emptywheel had this to say on their article on William Barr’s performance piece yesterday.

some may believe this to be a trivial point but here goes - I feel strongly the tv newscasters and radio broadcasters should say the actual profane words uttered by the president and his minions - the American people need to have the jarring words ring in their ears. As a friend said to me - “so true. It started with shielding the public from grab them by their pussy. If our privileged white sisters had to hear that time and again….. maybe just maybe they would have “heard” it.”

That might have helped, but FCC regulations are pretty harsh if you broadcast stuff like that (as George Carlin adeptly demonstrated and Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” showed).

For the broadcast networks and on local broadcast news, you’re definitely right.

World News Tonight, CBS Evening News, and NBC Nightly News are required to bowdlerise. So’s your 11 O’Clock News team, though they’re as likely as not burying national politics anyway. I’m not so sure if pre-watershed MSNBC and CNN are compelled to do the same or not, and after 23:00 Eastern time, they’re definitely not required.

Eddie Lampert is in hot water. So is Bond villain Steven Mnuchin.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Sears Holdings Corp sued longtime former Chairman Eddie Lampert, his hedge fund ESL Investments and others like Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, claiming they illegally siphoned billions of dollars of assets from the retailer before it went bankrupt.

The lawsuit, made public on Thursday, was filed by the restructuring team winding down Sears’ bankruptcy estate and suing on behalf of creditors, many of whom blame Lampert for the retailer’s downfall.

It followed the billionaire’s $5.2 billion purchase in February of most Sears assets, including the DieHard and Kenmore brands, after a bankruptcy auction.

The complaint seeks the repayment of “billions of dollars of value looted from Sears,” including while it was in what Lampert would later call a “death spiral” where it sold core assets to meet daily expenses with no real plan for becoming profitable.

finance.yahoo.com

Lampert’s real motivation for taking control of Sears was to rake in billions while sucking the corporation dry, like a money vampire.

I thought the story had less to do with time loops than with how time and causation might be perceived differently. And how the viewpoint characters perception of the world was changed by working towards understanding the aliens. The author is worth reading since I like the short story collection.

Yeah, my wife didn’t get that the first time. And telling that story in a linear fashion - the way we perceive things - the way you would have to in a movie, through my wife for a loop. You kind of had to watch the movie, and then in your mind stich the ends together.

Meanwhile, at the U.S. Mexico border…

(Reuters) - The American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico on Thursday called for state authorities to investigate a small group of armed U.S. citizens who they alleged are illegally detaining migrants entering the United States.

The United Constitutional Patriots, who claim to be mainly military veterans, have been patrolling the U.S.-Mexico border near Sunland Park, New Mexico, since late February in search of illegal border crossers.

They post near daily videos showing members dressed in camouflage and armed with semi-automatic rifles holding groups of migrants, many of them Central American families seeking asylum, until U.S. Border Patrol agents arrive to arrest them.

The small volunteer group says it is helping Border Patrol deal with a surge in undocumented migrants but civil rights organizations like the ACLU say it is a “fascist militia organization” operating outside the law.

“We cannot allow racist and armed vigilantes to kidnap and detain people seeking asylum,” the ACLU said in a letter to New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and Attorney General Hector Balderas.

“We urge you to immediately investigate this atrocious and unlawful conduct.”

The offices of Lujan Grisham and Balderas did not respond to requests for comment.

On a March 27 visit to El Paso, Texas, next to Sunland Park, then U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Kevin McAleenan said his agency, which runs U.S. Border Patrol, did not need the help of citizens to police the border.

The UCP says it is responding to a rise in migrant arrests to their highest monthly levels in more than a decade.

The ACLU said the group was a product of the Trump administration’s “vile racism” that “has emboldened white nationalists and fascists to flagrantly violate the law.”

Question about this group. What would happen if a group of Hispanic US citizens happened to be walking along the border and were “detained” by this group. Doesn’t that hold them up to a potential big pile of hurt for kidnapping while armed?

I can imagine them as a group trying to tell a judge it was an innocent mistake.

I guess part of my point is that they *don’t* have to prove their citizenship to a bunch of armed men who are not acting in any official capacity. Verbally claim you’re US citizens in a place you are allowed to be in - especially for instance if it’s private property and one of them owns the property. And if the armed mob attempts to detain you call in the police to deal with them.

It would be a pretty brave act to confront this bunch like that though, and have a notable amount of risk involved. But otherwise I cannot think of much that would make them desist.

What Walsh doesn’t get is the reason why Sanctuary Cities exist and why they in fact work is because undocumented people don’t want to be scared to go to the police. We had a policy that we tried to implement when I was an undergrad called the Good Samaritan Policy where someone who helped someone who got sick or hurt from underaged drinking or violating campus rules on drugs would not have to worry about punishment. Being undocumented is a misdemeanor. Walsh still doesn’t get that he wants to upend people’s lives over the equivalent of parking tickets.

@dcpetterson People whine about Pelosi saying “impeachment is off the table”. That’s only half of what she said. It’s “off the table” *until there is sufficient evidence”.

The purpose of the investigations is to establish exactly that evidence.

Investigations are the necessary precursor.

i think this is an accurate quote right out of the report:

There is sufficient evidence that President Donald Trump obstructed justice to merit impeachment hearings.

-hearings
-what they’ve been planning all along and are doing now
-broader investigations than mueller could do. especially now that they have some idea of who to speak to and what to look for

personally, i’d guess house dems already have a timeline and they’re keeping their powder dry

right now….hearings. information, data, testimony, support, proof.

this is not about conviction in the senate
it’s about uncovering the truth

The same article notes the same thing happened in the 1980 election between Carter and Reagan (the Reagan campaign received prep notes for Carter), but the Reagan campaign used them. That was exposed in 1983 and Jimmy Carter maintains that helped Ronald Reagan in the debate.

It’s almost as if the GOP has been getting illicit help my entire voting life.

Objection: Trump never has been and never will be cool.

LePage has also claimed the moniker of being Trump before Trump. Somewhere in the universe where viruses can communicate, the Plague bacteria is telling AIDS that it was killing people in the Dark Ages. Anyhow, Walsh is terrible ideologically. I don’t dispute that. I just think we do have to acknowledge that there are people even those with repulsive views themselves that find Trump’s criminality bothering. Now maybe a lot of it is self-serving since they’re worried about their ideology’s “good name” being smeared but as I said last night, we’re going to have a Post-Trump right and I really would rather it be men and women who right now see Trump is a crook more than people who continue to insist he did nothing wrong. Ideally I would love for a sane center right to emerge from the ashes but that’s gonna take time.

We can’t let them get away with it again.

or let it continue unchecked….

- if the house doesnt investigate thoroughly and seriously
- if they dont ever raise an impeachment resolution

then i cant imagine the freewheeling in your eye nature of a 2nd trump term or another R presidency in the future

forget what the senate might do. they are not an objective jury of peers. though maybe if enough crap comes out the vote could get up to 60. that’s almost trump’s national polling (40+/- )

the house is all we have, so it’s the tool to use
he got away with a lot of stuff because the house was R for the first two years

the message has to be clear: it’s all about the constitution, not you (ie him)

though i said that was only one of several possibilities.

“yeah we did it, but you couldnt catch me copper” is another

and they seem to be ignoring the flip side of that:
- the 12+ investigations (individual_1, etc.)
- trump becomes more vulnerable when he leaves office

He can be roomies with Edward Snowden.

i live with the secure knowledge that the president will be surrounded by a secret service detail after he leaves office, and that the secret service detail isn’t going to allow him to simply hop on a private plane to flee anywhere. And indictments from the SDNY will drop as soon as he is no longer president, meaning he’ll be under a court-ordered directive not to leave the country and to surrender his passport. He isn’t going anywhere.

today, barr is a coffee boy.

- trump’s gonna be pissed because he didnt accomplish (very well) what he was hired for
- he lied pretty good and documented it. he could be in some trouble
- while it’s early days in his new ‘career’, he may quickly realize he had enough already

Don’t forget the U.S. citizens! It is now a lot about the citizens clamoring for Republicans to do the right things. If enough pressure can be put on the Senate it can be a game changer.

I like that the Spanish word is celular, because I only use my phone about 1% of the time as an actual “talk to someone at a distance through sound” device. It’s a read the news, post to blogs, get me to some location, order online, read books, learn Spanish, watch videos device.

We had a similar problem here when Colorado made weed legal.

Wingnuts in the Unicameral advanced the idea of closing all the roads crossing the Nebraska-Colorado state line except for paved ones (there are eleven paved roads which cross), and allowing vigilantes with guns to patrol the state line to “assist” county sheriff departments in “apprehending” smugglers.

That got shot down when farmers and ranchers here all objected. Many own property on both sides of the state line and would be hurt by having to take farm equipment many miles to a paved road. Other farmers and ranchers objected to armed wingnuts going on their properties.

More guitar geekery, Score of the Century edition…

You might remember that earlier this week, I posted a link to Roy Buchanan’s 1953 Telecaster, on sale by a dealer in NYC for the princely sum of $45,000.

I’m reading the TDPRI Telecaster forum this morning, and some dude in Delaware posted that he found what looks to be a 1953 Telecaster at a flea market - and bought it for 20 bucks.

The experts over at the forum are weighing in, and it does indeed look like the real deal. Even with the so-so varnish refinish, the guitar is easily worth $10 grand. Fully restored, it will be worth twice that.

I am obviously not livin’ right. I gotta get out to more flea markets…

So many talented artists have a lot of inner demons when you think about it. ‘Albatross’ is one of the greatest guitar songs ever written. The Green/Kirwan/Spencer team was absolutely elite. They don’t build bands like that anymore.

Interesting Columbine shooting fact: There were 15 people killed that day, more than had been in any school shooting going back 20 years (1979).

In the 20 years since Columbine, there have been three deadlier shootings: Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook and Parkland and all of those have been in the past 12 years.

I kind of touched on Columbine, Va Tech, Sandy Hook, and Parkland in my page. Different than you are but more how we’ve responded to those.

Yeah I first heard Albatross in a documentary about the French guy who tightropped across the WTC or Empire State Building. I was shocked when I was told it was Fleetwood Mac.

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area on this fine spring day, which also happens to be Good Friday and Erev Pesach. I wish everyone happy holidays and safe travels (for those heading to family for the weekend celebrations).

Know who isn’t having a good weekend?

Trumpworld.

Those fuckers are all fucked. Trump’s pissed at everyone who refused his advances to obstruct justice and commit crimes on his behalf. He’s pissed at everyone who told the truth. He’s pissed that the report shows he should be impeached. He’s pissed that his bulkshit (and yes, this is what I mean since it’s Costco level bullshit delivery- but not something I can take credit for as it appeared in Urban Dictionary independent and prior to my usage here) isn’t working to move the needle as much as he hopes for.

The only ones who keep buying his baffling BS are his know nothing base and sycophantic racist bigots (one and the same in most cases). Trump has no wiggle room and he knew it from the moment Mueller was identified as the special counsel.

Congress must investigate further. They should impeach. They should force the Congressional GOPers to defend this corrupt fucker who put his interests ahead of the nation time and again. Don’t confine the impeachment just to obstruction.

Expose every last bit of Trumpworld criminality - from the Trump U scam school to the Trump foundation scam to his money laundering and felonious conduct to cover up his adultery from campaign finance scrutiny.

And then focus harsh light on Wikileaks, Trump’s entreaties to get Russian and foreign assistance to take down Clinton, and how the Russians were more than willing to help undermine our elections to further Russia’s agenda.

MAGA is nothing but a sham, and Trump’s actions make it clear that he never believed a word of his own bulkshit. Force the GOP to own all of this, and take pride in knowing that you’re standing on the right side of history and the US Constitution. Democrats better start showing some spine - and that includes the various candidates for the WH.

If you don’t hold a corrupt and complicit Trump accountable via impeachment, then there’s no one who’d ever be held accountable, unless there’s a (D) after the name, because we all know the GOP wont hestitate to impeach for the slightest slight - regardless of facts or logic.

Make Graham eat his fucking words that he spewed during Clinton’s impeachment.

Make McConnell eat his too.

Those two fuckers think integrity and the rule of law applies only to Democrats being held accountable by a feckless and craven GOP - and not when it’s a criminal Trump and his fellow GOPers who conspired to undermine our very democracy and institutions of government.

dailykos.com

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, Republican of Texas, has upped his attacks on Rob Serra, a retired firefighter who survived 9/11, by claiming that Serra is conspiring against him with Democratic Rep. Max Rose. Which, if you’re keeping score, pits Crenshaw—a former Navy Seal who takes credibility from his war injury—against a 9/11 first responder and a fellow congressional Afghanistan veteran.

After Serra came forward to say that Crenshaw had refused to shake his hand in a Capitol Hill hallway as he lobbied for the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund—a claim backed up by a fellow 9/11 first responder who witnessed the snub—Crenshaw insisted that it was a dirty attack intended to get him back for his own attacks on Rep. Ilhan Omar. Now Crenshaw says that Serra is “conspiring with Max Rose” and “There’s a more malicious underlying motive here I think.” Oh, but he wasn’t done there: Crenshaw brought it back around to Rep. Omar (who, by the way, has co-sponsored the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund), saying, “This accusation is a nefarious attempt to undermine me because I spoke out against Omar. It’s highly dishonest.”

Crenshaw’s evidence for a conspiracy is that Rose retweeted Serra’s accusation that Crenshaw snubbed him. Serra is Rose’s constituent … and it’s a single retweet. As evidence of malicious conspiracy goes, it’s not the strongest. As Serra put it to the New York Daily News, “I’ve met Max Rose once or twice. All I did was respond to Max’s tweet. If that’s conspiring then I think we have different definitions of conspiring.”

Serra also returned to the key point: Crenshaw’s refusal so far to co-sponsor the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund: “I wanted to shake (Crenshaw’s) hand because I had respect for him. He may have been in a rush… and I’m by no means an important person, but I still stand by the fact that he needs to support this bill.”

In college a guy needing money sold me an old tele for $100, and told me to never sell it. He dropped out and disappeared. After college I needed money to get to Japan for a teaching gig, so I sold it to a friend for $250 and asked him to sell it back to me. It was old when I bought it in 1985. I never had it appraised, but I’m sure it is worth quite a bit now. My friend refused to sell it back to me, and I don’t blame him.

Anywho…. I have a MIJ Tele that works great and my old Firebird with three original 1960s P90s.

“Mueller Report Headlines”. this is only the left-leaning media and i didnt copy the links to each one.

compare cnn to nbc

i’d just like to say that all these editors need to stop using ‘but’ when they mean “and”. almost as bad as them not using the word ‘lie’

It is the same thing as the opinion writers you see in the NY Times and WaPo. These big media entities put in opinion pieces so they can be seen as balanced. The problem is most conservative opinion writers anymore are just GOP talking points over and over. There really is no original point or opinion it in.

If you read editor’s note about Jennings attached to the article you see:

Scott Jennings, a CNN contributor, is a former special assistant to President George W. Bush and former campaign adviser to Sen. Mitch McConnell. He is a partner at RunSwitch Public Relations in Louisville, Kentucky. Follow him on Twitter @ScottJenningsKY. The opinions expressed in this commentary are his own. View more opinion articles on CNN.

This guy obviously has a beef with Obama to cover for Mitch being Mitch, which is okay because Mitch is on the team.

I always read who these opinion writers are and 90% of the time you can tell who they are by what they write, but the bio info always makes it clear. It is all so familiar because it is party biolerplate. It sure isn’t journalism.

It really needs to be in the advertising section.

love him hate him, i dont care. (im not a fan myself)

this is my position. forget the politics, protect the country.

Andrew Sullivan: “To refuse to use the one weapon the Founders gave us to remove such a character from office is more than cowardice. It is complicity. It is a surrender to forces which aim to make the world safe for authoritarianism. It may not work. But if we acquiesce, pretend it isn’t happening, or look away, it cannot work. This disgusting man is not just a cancer in the presidency. His presidency is a cancer in our Constitution and way of life. How long do we let this metastasize even further? How long before we take a stand? Mueller has given us the roadmap. He has done his duty. Now it’s our turn to do ours: ‘to support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.’”

“There is no qualification in that oath of citizenship.”

ps - dangerman at lgf on 3/23/19

I haven’t a clue what Mueller wrote. Guessing is folly especially since some release is imminent.

Still. I’m thinking it’s gonna be a road map of the past and an AAA triptik with highlighted routes for the future

once again, lgf was a month ahead. now everyone’s using ‘roadmap’

President Obama should have ignored McConnell’s threats and warned the public about Russian interference. That’s one thing I will say at this point in time. McConnell knew about Russian interference and threatened that he would attack President Obama if it was revealed. That’s the real story.

And this Jennings guy knows that. Yeah I think Obama should have said something too but I blame McConnell for threatening to cry foul if Obama said anything and the shit he had previously done with Garland. I’m really hoping the DSCC seriously targets McConnell in 2020. He needs a much deserved retirement and maybe some trips to court as a defendant in his future.

I’ll agree on #1. The Welch lineup never really did it for me, although Bare Trees was a damn fine record. I saw that lineup, back when Christine McVie was still Christine Perfect. I had a mad crush on that woman.

The Hit Machine FM would be #2 for me - the first two albums with that lineup, anyway. I think Warner Brothers could have taken that massive budget for Tusk and thrown it into the Pacific and done the world a favor. They totally lost me with that record.

So you’ve never heard anything after? I have a fondness for Tango in the Night, which is the other end of that lineup’s existence (well, the original one, since that’s also the lineup that got back together at Clinton’s request).

Yesterday: “TOTALLY EXONERATED! Look on my GoT tweet and despair!”

Today: “THIS REPORT IS TOTAL BULLSHIT! NOBODY EVER SAID THOSE THINGS! IT’S ALL LIES WRITTEN UP BY THE EVIL DEMOCRATS!!! I DID NOTHING WRONG!!!!”

I cannot begin to listen to this anymore. Not just the words coming from his piehole but the totally matter-of-fact manner in which it is reported.

And I although commentators like Seth Myers, Steven Colbert and Samantha Bee are the only ones I can watch on the subject, I do not find myself laughing at it, just shaking my head in disbelief.

Yeah, again one was an opinion writer and one was an actual CNN journalist. Big difference. Thanks for pointing out the article she wrote.

I wish people were more clear about outside opinion versus house opinion and actual house journalism.

Should CNN be blamed for that Jennings BS? Only in they put it up as an opinion. But they did a good job when their own writer came to the conclusion the Mueller Report was clear about obstruction.

I think it good to check out as much as possible, but be aware of what you are reading/hearing/seeing and by who.

One chuckle I’m getting out of this is the realization that Trump, because he’s functionally illiterate, never read the Mueller report, for all that he’s had it available since March, and just relied on the word of his staff, who have all been browbeaten into never giving him any bad news.

So, when he woke up yesterday morning, he probably thought this was all going to go really well for him.

They obviously thought The Bill Barr Show would be enough.

Oops. And those response points are already useless which means we’ll probably see them soon.

Next week is going to be hell for Trump. He has lost the Mueller narrative, he is having trouble with the border “emergency” that’s been going on for a couple months, North Korea is flippin’ him off…not good times. It’s going to make him real cranky.
