It’s actually a MORE sane idea than the wingnut fantasy of Trump impeached => Pence becomes President => Pence nominates Trump for VP => Pence steps down => Trump becomes President again.

There are multiple problems with that - the fact that the Senate could bar Trump from holding public office if convicted, and the fact that any Pence VP nominee would have to be confirmed by both the House and the Senate, come to mind.

Is Laura Loomer in London?

thedailybeast.com

Woman Stabs Baby Trump Balloon in London
“I’m going in,” the unidentified woman says, before appearing to puncture the inflatable. Afterwards, she yells, “Did it! That’s a disgrace! It’s a national disgrace! The President of the United States is the best president ever.” The woman appeared to be bleeding after she walked away, and the video ends with her appearing to be searched by police. The team of “babysitters” looking after the balloon confirmed its demise to The Independent and said the woman punctured it with a “sharp object.” A spokesperson for Scotland Yard told the newspaper “one female has been arrested for being in possession of a pointed or bladed article.”

Biden, I think, is ultimately going to fall victim to something that caused Clinton’s primary loss in 2008 and probably hurt her in the general in 2016, and that is that they seem to operate as if it’s still 1998 rather than 2019.

A lot of behavior I have seen indicates that a lot of countries are holding out hope that Trump will be replaced by a Democrat so that things can return to normal. If, for some reason, he gets reelected, I think a lot of things will just end right after that. Countries will just turn to other partners and be done with us as a major partner.

Unfair trade subsidy. I believe this is a real risk for them outside the existing EU trade framework. I think they still would have gone through with it. In fact, they did. They knew then they weren’t going to get 67 votes to convict, and they probably knew they’d lose a few Republican votes on one of the counts (like they did). Whether it was because they really believed that Clinton’s actions constituted obstruction of justice or because they thought it would damage him at the end of his term and/or hurt Gore as the presumptive nominee or because they were just fucking nihilists (Donny).

The NHS accounts for 10% of the UK’s GDP, they buy drugs, medical devices, bandages, iv bags, syringes, mri machines etc. Not to mention all of the stuff they buy that isn’t of a medical nature. How could it not be part of trade discussions?

I think trump redefines the definition of “Ugly American”.

From Google:

“Ugly American” is a term used to refer to perceptions of loud, arrogant, demeaning, thoughtless, ignorant, and ethnocentric behavior of American citizens mainly abroad, but also at home. Although the term is usually associated with or applied to travelers and tourists, it also applies to U.S. corporate businesses in the international arena.”

When you’re already corrupt as hell, why not take it to the next level?

Didn’t they have to call another election because Bibi couldn’t form a new government?

With Hope as a first name, there’s a whole lot of room to play. Someone better than mine could tie hicks into the end.

re: #62 KGxvi

I think they still would have gone through with it. In fact, they did. They knew then they weren’t going to get 67 votes to convict, and they probably knew they’d lose a few Republican votes on one of the counts (like they did). Whether it was because they really believed that Clinton’s actions constituted obstruction of justice or because they thought it would damage him at the end of his term and/or hurt Gore as the presumptive nominee or because they were just fucking nihilists (Donny).

With hindsight, the GOP’s ultra-partisan impeachment of Bill Clinton had two further effects:

1) wiped out the memory of Nixon’s disgrace, and

2) made any future impeachments of GOP criminal presidents have to overcome a heavy both-siderist presumption that they are partisan ‘payback’ for the Clinton impeachment.

Both of these effects rely on the great both-siderist lie of the US mainstream political media.

So they’re celebrating and proud that they are not the targets of their own bigotry. Seems legit.

Jim Geraghty, NRO:

“…Back in 2015, RightWingNews reviewed the financial filings of 21 prominent conservative PACs and found the ten 10 groups at the bottom of their list spent $54.3 million only paid out $3.6 million to help get Republicans elected.

Back in 2016, campaign finance lawyer Paul H. Jossey detailed how some of the PACs operated and lamented, “the Tea Party movement is pretty much dead now, but it didn’t die a natural death. It was murdered — and it was an inside job. In a half decade, the spontaneous uprising that shook official Washington degenerated into a form of pyramid scheme that transferred tens of millions of dollars from rural, poorer Southerners and Midwesterners to bicoastal political operatives.”

In 2016, Roger Stone founded the Committee to Restore America’s Greatness. It raised $587,000 and spent $16,000 on independent expenditures supporting Trump.

In 2016, Great America PAC raised $28.6 million from donors. They donated $30,125 to federal candidates. In 2018, Great America PAC raised $8.3 million from donors. They donated $31,840 to federal candidates.
