I really want him to do well. He’s the only Hispanic running and he’s got a good variety of experience. I doubt he’ll be the nominee but I would love to see him involved on the ticket somehow or in the next administration. Been a fan since the 2012 DNC.

Not totally yet, but I’m this close to going all in for Elizabeth Warren.

Like I said a week ago, I want to get a bumper sticker that says “I really like Elizabeth Warren, but I will crawl through fire and broken glass to vote for whoever becomes the democratic candidate for president”, and I don’t care how small the font has to be.

I’ll vote for Bernie if he’s the guy, but fuck the fire and glass part.

He (Mayor Pete) is what I was afraid of…not much substance for those who aren’t middle or upper class and white. He has a great way of making white middle class voters seen…and that might be an important quality in a candidate, but that doesn’t make the grade for me.

Seriously. I have never seen that guy actually happy. My brother tells me he’s seen Ben make fun of how his daughter runs who is around the same age as my niece and my brother just thought it was absurd. I really like how my niece isn’t being told by him that she can’t do certain things because she’s a girl. Yeah. I understand why POC communities are not the top priority for a lot of people. But they are for ME. And the way your policies affect the folks on the lowest rungs of the ladder is a very valid litmus test to hold for candidates. As of yet, no tornadoes.

Conservative humor always goes back to how ignorant, racist, and stupid they are. That joke says a lot more about Todd than it does Beto. BTW Todd, you support the guy who partied at Studio 54. Maybe you should get Trump’s coke off your mouth before you shit on Beto for doing what normal people indulge in as a vice.

Since you want to go on about this…

Why did Hillary lose?

It was nothing she did in 2016. Nor in 2015.

The right wing spend thirty years attacking her.

So no, when you’re running for President you don’t start campaigning for the general election the year of the election. Instead, one starts years before, as indeed many of the current candidates are aware as they’ve been positioning themselves for years, some more successfully than others.

I don’t understand Spanish and it makes me feel dumb. I know French, German and Hebrew but I never studied Spanish.

Well, the reverse is true for me. (Plus I speak Portuguese.)

However if someone was speaking French, German, or Hebrew around me I wouldn’t lose my freakin’ top like so many ‘Muricans.

I did feel pretty dumb when we were in Poland and my vocabulary was about ten words. Fortunately my wife was there to bail me out.

That was another thing for me. I like to know what the people who know you best think of you. Hearing how South Bendians of color viewed Pete’s performance as their mayor, yeah it soured me. It also was one of the first reasons I got stink eye on Sanders since I read about what Vermont PoC and women had to say about how he viewed their important isues.

He soured on me long before, when he came here to Omaha and praised Mike Pence as a fundamentally good guy.

The same Mike Pence who would jail him for his marriage.

Remember that five electoral votes I mentioned up above? Buttigieg is the only Democrat to show up in this state so far.

My rating for closing statements/best to worst.

Warren
Castro/Booker
Klobuchar
Inslee
O’Roarke
Gabbard

and tied for last
Delaney/Ryan/DeBlasio

YMMV

Looking forward to tomorrow night. If Harris is as good as she was at our convention, it will be something to see. And Gillebrand said she is WILDLY looking forward to the debate.

Scottish Dragon  Jun 26, 2019 • 8:04:13pm

Booker, Warren and Castro clear winners. Gabbard will fold. De Blasio was the only one of the older white guy contingent who made any impression. Beto stumbled, recovered a bit with strong closing speech. Needs to look at Governor or something. Klobuchar was ignored, which was a shame because she is wicked smart.
