I am only reporting this as a rumor.

Jeffrey Epstein Arrested For Sex Trafficking of Minors: Sources

Jeffrey Epstein was reportedly arrested on Saturday and will appear in New York court on Monday to be charged with sex trafficking, according to multiple law enforcement sources

Billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein was arrested for allegedly sex trafficking dozens of minors in New York and Florida between 2002 and 2005, and will appear in court in New York on Monday, according to three law enforcement sources. The arrest comes about 12 years after the 66-year-old financier essentially got a slap on the wrist for allegedly molesting dozens of underage girls in Florida.

For more than a decade, Epstein’s alleged abuse of minors has been the subject of lawsuits brought by victims, investigations by local and federal authorities, and exposés in the press. But despite the attention cast on his alleged sex crimes, the hedge-funder has managed to avoid any meaningful jail time, let alone federal charges.

The new indictment, which will be unsealed Monday in Manhattan federal court, will allege that Epstein sexually exploited dozens of underage girls in a now-familiar scheme: paying them cash for “massages” and then molesting or sexually abusing them in his Upper East Side mansion or his palatial residence in Palm Beach. Epstein will be charged with one count of sex trafficking of minors and one count of conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of minors—which could put him away for a maximum of 45 years. The case is being handled by the Public Corruption Unit of the Southern District of New York, with assistance from the district’s human-trafficking officials and the FBI.

It would be amazing if this is true, considering that Epstein has slimed his way out of multiple charges in the past.

We caught Season 6, Episode 3 of the Endeavour prequel to Inspector Morse, set in 1969. The writers slipped in a beautiful throw-away bit: While reporting his investigation of an Oxford instructor’s suicide, young Endeavour lists his interviews, including one with a Rhodes Scholar named Clinton.

A federal appeals court Wednesday ordered that 167 documents in a lawsuit that alleges famously well-connected financier Jeffrey Epstein participated in a sex-trafficking ring should be unsealed—and that many of his powerful friends could be named.

In its 27-page decision, the court cited the public’s right to access the case information outweighed the privacy of certain individuals, “including numerous prominent American politicians, powerful business executives, foreign presidents, a well‐known Prime Minister, and other world leaders.”

Virginia Guiffre (now Roberts) filed the lawsuit against Ghislane Maxwell, alleging that she had used her as part of a sex trafficking network of underage girls to Epstein and a number of his famous friends, including his lawyer Alan Dershowitz and Prince Andrew. Both men denied the accusations.

Dershowitz has supported unsealing the documents, according to the Daily Beast.

The documents will not be immediately available, as anonymous individuals involved in the case have two weeks to file appeals.

The court advised the documents be read carefully. “We therefore urge the media to exercise restraint in covering potentially defamatory allegations, and we caution the public to read such accounts with discernment,” wrote the court in its decision.

A second woman had her Twitter account hijacked some time ago had that account also spewing racist bullshyte while she was trying to get control of her account back. Twitter ignored her pleas to either suspend the account or give it back to her.

Historian Twitter swung into action to show racists depictions of mermaids from all around Europe in every colour of the rainbow.

Over 29 months Obama added almost 1 million more jobs than Trump

Trump entered office on January 20, 2017, and starting with February 2017 he has been President for 29 months. Total job growth during that time has been 5.613 million or 194,000 per month with those results being helped by the tax cut.

Working back from January 2017, Obama’s last month in office, there had been 6.423 million jobs added or 221,000 per month. The difference for the 29 months is 810,000 more jobs or 27,000 more per month than Trump.

Note that back in January this year the total difference was only 194,000, which means over the past five months it has increased by 616,000. And looking at the next six months with Obama’s job numbers of 188,000 to 327,000 per month, the gap should only increase and cross 1 million.

People angry about Black Ariel are shrieking all over the internet right now, “Why don’t they just find an African story to do instead of ruining our stories?” Sure, except you get angry about that as well, Ashleighee. Apart from the fact that The Little Mermaid is not “ours” and a Black actress does not “ruin” it with her Blackness, these are the very same people who get angry when Black stories are produced by mainstream studios. Those studios are “pandering” and “too PC.” Black Panther, Dear White People, and Luke Cage were all “racist,” with too few white actors and white characters who weren’t shown “positively.” When Black films are confined to Black spaces, they’re fine, but when Black films come into the mainstream, the culture we define as “white space,” we demand that our needs, stories, and visual representations be centered.

At one time, there was a whole industry devoted to making films specifically for African-American audiences.
Race film

The race film or race movie was a film type produced entirely in the United States between about 1915 and the early 1950s, consisting of films produced for an all-black audience, featuring black casts.

In all, approximately five hundred race films were produced. Of these, fewer than one hundred remain. Because race films were produced outside the Hollywood studio system, they were largely forgotten by mainstream film historians until they resurfaced in the 1980s on the BET cable network. In their day, race films were very popular among African American theatergoers. Their influence continues to be felt in cinema and television marketed to African Americans.

Note that “colored” film-goers can sit anywhere in the theater for this presentation.

BJP Mahila Morcha Leader Says Hindus Should Gangrape Muslim Women; Gets Expelled (Goes to The Wire, an Indian publication).

The BJP’s women’s leader made a post to Faceborg suggesting Hindu men should gang rape Muslim women.

New Delhi: Sunita Singh Gaur, leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha in Uttar Pradesh’s Ramkola, has reportedly been removed from her position after she posted on Facebook that Hindu men should enter Muslim homes and rape the women.

“There is only one solution for them (Muslims). Hindu brothers should make a group of 10 and gang rape their (Muslims) mothers and sisters openly on the streets and then then hang them in the middle of the bazaar for others to see,” Gaur’s post in Hindi says.

She goes on to say that Muslim mothers and sisters should have their “honour looted” as there is “no other way” to “protect India”.

(more, with a screen shot of the original post, in Hindi, now removed from Facebook).

And what caused the seizure?

The ABC article nor others I’ve found do not say.

It might be epilepsy (since many people with epilepsy try to hide it from the public due to discrimination or other reasons) in which case the cause would likely be ruled SUDEP (sudden unexpected death in epilepsy, about 10% of all epilepsy-related deaths are from that disorder).

Several medicines can also cause seizures (but those are generally well-known), along with alternative (quackery) medicine, head injuries, diseases such as meningitis, &c.

We’ll probably have to wait awhile to find out, presuming the family wishes to release information.

Pulpit pimp James Dobson (“Focus on the Family”) basically sees Trump-camp detainees as a form of two-legged vermin:

JAMES DOBSON’S ANTI-IMMIGRANT RHETORIC IS DANGEROUS

(Dobson’s) newsletter describes Dobson’s visit to McAllen, Texas, at the invitation of the White House and his promise to share what he had seen “up close and personal.” The characterization of the men, women, and children in the camps includes several troubling phrases. They are described as carriers of “lice, scabies, and other diseases”; they sit silently with “plaintive eyes;” they are from “the lowest rung of many societies.” The most alarming rhetoric occurs in the closing paragraph:

“What I’ve told you is only a glimpse of what is occurring on the nation’s border. I don’t know what it will take to change the circumstances. I can only report that without an overhaul of the law and the allocation of resources, millions of illegal immigrants will continue flooding to this great land from around the world. Many of them have no marketable skills. They are illiterate and unhealthy. Some are violent criminals. Their numbers will soon overwhelm the culture as we have known it, and it could bankrupt the nation. America has been a wonderfully generous and caring country since its founding. That is our Christian nature. But in this instance, we have met a worldwide wave of poverty that will take us down if we don’t deal with it. And it won’t take long for the inevitable consequences to happen.”.

I think that might’ve been more to do with that incident involving the Russian bathyscaphe. The only way I could see that is if Trump had gotten a heads-up (somehow) that a warrant was out for Epstein and he had a complete pants-shitting meltdown and Pence was called back to D.C. pronto.

Didn’t one of Trump’s spokeslugs say something to the effect that “it had nothing to do with Trump’s health”? Which is a rather odd thing to bring up unprompted, at least IMO.

I want everyone associated with this tried. I especially want Acosta looked into for his slap-on-the-wrist penalty against Epstein years ago (and now in Trump’s cabinet).

Although there are lots of funny bits on Allahpundit’s tweet, the actual Tucker Carlson segment was run in 2017, not to cover up any of the Jeffrey Epstein stuff.

https://www.businessinsider.com/tucker-carlson-roma-gypsies-defecating-public-2017-7 (Business Insider)

The identical photograph of the Tucker Carlson set with the graphic appears at the top of the article.

Fox News’ Tucker Carlson interviewed a filmmaker about reports of a group of Romani-American immigrants who are defecating in public.

Following an interview with Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price on Monday, Carlson turned his attention to reports of a group of Roma — an ethnic group pejoratively referred to as “gypsies” — who recently emigrated to Pennsylvania, fleeing persecution and racism in Europe.

I don’t recall the details now, but it might well have something do with the structure of the brain. Apparently, the amygdala in people who politically identify as conservatives has increased volume. In other words, they’re predisposed to be more fearful and less able to cope with uncertainty.

Yes the question is chicken or egg. Is bigger amygdala causing fear or something else causing amygdala to enlarge

Greets and saluts from the NYC metro area. We had some nasty storms in the area yesterday, including an EF-0 in Mt. Laurel NJ. More tornadoes/funnel clouds reported in PA too.

But the real storm was the arrest of Jeff Epstein on child trafficking charges (federal, no statute of limitations). Epstein got a sweetheart deal from Alex Acosta, who is now a member of Trump’s cabinet.

Trump was a fellow traveler with Epstein and is on record as having been friends with Epstein and partied with Epstein. Yeah, this is heading to a dark place, and one where Trump faces still more legal jeopardy, especially should he interefere in yet another investigation. Right wingers will ignore the Trump (and Dershowitz) connection in favor of touting how Bill Clinton is implicated.

Thing is, if Clinton is - then he deserves prison. If Trump or Dershowitz are - they too deserve prison. Barr’s trying to protect Acosta from scrutiny, which only adds to the scrutiny that every media outlet should direct at Trumpworld.

Nothing about this is good. Nothing. Sex crimes are bad enough and Trump’s a self-admitted sex predator who grabs women by the genitals and said as much on the Access Hollywood video. He called Epstein a friend and partied with him during the relevant time frame. That means that Trump was in proximity to someone accused of child sex trafficking.

The implications are dire, but we know the GOP wont give a shit.

Investigators went to Epstein’s NY home and executed a search warrant and seized all manner of items.

He apparently flew on Epstein’s plane (aka the Lolita Express) several times, along with a bunch of other people. Whether anything untoward went on is the question. Epstein cultivated the rich, powerful and famous so sorting out the wheat from the chaff will take some time.

Since Epstein’s proclivities were apparently an open secret, overlooking them as so many did is bad.

The good people at FR are already framing a narrative where Trump knew Epstein and once he realized what a bad person he was, Trump threw him out of Mar-a-Lago and never spoke to him again. In fact, he’s probably behind the arrest. Helping clean up America and all that.

Meanwhile across the pond the next Prime Minister is living up to the expectations of making a total asshole of himself!

It’s understandable how Boris Johnson, a front-runner to replace British Prime Minister Theresa May at 10 Downing Street, ruffled some feathers on Friday when he said, “There are too often parts of our country … where English is not spoken by some people as their first language.”

“And that needs to be changed,” he said.

The most important priority for immigrants should be “to be and to feel British,” he said, “and to learn English.”

The comments sparked outrage across Britain, where they were seen as echoing populist talking points targeting immigrants and disrespecting centuries-old languages indigenous to the region.

The comments sparked outrage across Britain, where they were seen as echoing populist talking points targeting immigrants and disrespecting centuries-old languages indigenous to the region.

washingtonpost.com

Welsh, Cornish, Scottish, Irish…these are all indigenous languages spoken in the UK. Of course he’s going to piss a lot of people off and they should be pissed off. But this is sadly typical of Johnson, who is a generally awful person and yeah, probably racist at the core.

Which is going to make it even sadder when he more than likely gets the PM-ship and pushes the UK further along its Brexit-scented descent, complete with the open xenophobia-as-policy that it entails.

Qbot relatives posting that Bill Clinton will be arrested on Monday…and Trump will be exonerated…

Men preying on underage girls is not a crime restricted to one political party or ideology — it is rampant across the political spectrum. As is men attacking women in general. Didn’t Bill Kristol (how I hate to praise him!!) have a tweet awhile ago advising that we elect only women until we can figure out what’s going on? In most cases, of course, the assaults are not related to sex trafficking — that certainly applies to Democrats Joe Morrissey and Mel Reynold’s or Republican Roy Moore’s relationships with teenage girls or Trump’s rape of C. Jean Carroll.

Realistically, it would take constitutional amendments to fix those. Democrats could make all the rules they want to make the chamber fair, but they could all be wiped away by the next GOP senate.

Yeah which is why while I support in principle the idea of expanding SCOTUS, I just know that the Republicans would follow suit. That said, I don’t mind the idea. What I’m more supportive of TBH is increasing the size of the House.

After the Civil War, we were progressing for several years during Reconstruction, but then we reverted and it took over 100 years before we resumed progress. So if history is our guide (though as Paul Valery said, “History is the science of what never happens twice”), we could be descending into a darkness that will last a century.

Former US Vice President Joe Biden yesterday apologised for comments about working with segregationist senators in his early days in the US Senate, saying he understands now his remarks could have offended some.

I think the big issue for the DNC is how they want to go forward in handling what appears to be a candidate who can really fumble the ball terribly. I’m not saying we’re looking at another McGovern here, but Biden is not fast enough at editing his public presence.

Dude is sort of slow on the replay:

Joe Biden says sorry about remarks

I think the big issue for the DNC is how they want to go forward in handling what appears to be a candidate who can really fumble the ball terribly. I’m not saying we’re looking at another McGovern here, but Biden is not fast enough at editing his public presence.

For now, the answer is let the primary process play out. He’s still the front runner. Intervening in any way wouldn’t help.

Would Mulan be considered Disney’s first competent female hero story?

Could be.

From what I’ve seen, this film won’t be a musical. And no little talking dragons, either.

So it seems that on this live-action remake, Disney is going with a more straight-forward approach, and as we can see from the trailer, borrowing from wuxia films. Smart move.

For Dorango fans -

A few minutes ago, Rango took one of Dory’s favorite toys outside, hoping to incite her to play. He took it over under the Magnolia, while Dory would run from cover a few yards toward him, then back to cover. Then they settled into a standoff.

This lasted about 5 minutes, till Rango appeared to lose interest and walked away. And Dory went for the toy….

This was what Rango had been waiting for!

I won’t give him oxygen by retweeting, but Dinesh is equating the handling of the Epstein case with the handling of the Smollett case and his stupid followers are all convinced that Mueller is going to get charged for mishandling the case (because he was head of FBI or something).

Just finishing Kurt Andersen’s fine Fantasyland. He doesn’t say this, but I infer from some of his commentary on Trump vs. Obama that while racism is a component of what animates Trumpers, what they really hate about Obama is that he represents the rational and wouldn’t let people indulge in fantasy, and that extends to hatred of educated liberals (and rational conservatives, which didn’t used to necessarily be an oxymoron) in general.

Very true. This aspect of conservative human nature can lead to raging when its pointed out that we haven’t had a clear goal in several wars, or that it’s bad to traumatize children when their parents commit a misdemeanor.

There’s definitely something to that and I think it’s why people like Dinesh who really are perpetually raging project Obama as an angry man.

Yeah, that’s good. Last couple Chinese versions of the story leaned on that, so that’s cool…badass warrior woman is a version of the story that crosses boundaries.

Production team took the same approach as they did with BLACK PANTHER, carefully borrowing from various locales and subcultures to create a more “mythological” story. Not sure if the logic holds here, as Wakanda is fictional, whereas Mulan is a folk story that spans several eras and various Chinese subcultures, but we’ll see.

Hope the womanly virtues/warrior themes is more of “being a warrior is part of being feminine” rather than “feminine vs. warrior”.

No Mushu. Good. No Ming Na Wen? Sigh.

Reading an article which looks like kind of a woo page about Epstein, but one comment was interesting: That DT’s negative response to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria might be related to his alleged predatory relationship with “Maria” (one of the Epstein girls, 11-13, supposedly supplied to him). As I said, this page looks like woo, so I won’t post the link here.
