So, I probably shouldn’t jump to conclusions, but we are renting a townhouse (year 6) and loved our neighbors when we first moved in. To our left was an older guy who is a Buddhist. He hired my son to care for his cat when he was gone, but ultimately moved to be with his ailing sister about 30 miles away. Then the single man to our right married and moved to MA. The people who moved into our left are like mole people. The cover their blinds and scurry in and out. But at least they are quiet. The 30-something woman who moved in to the right has a boyfriend who shows up at 1AM in his thunder truck (noisy Ford or Chevy, I can’t remember) or his Harley, and then the party starts. But worse, she had her dad put up an ostentatious US flag from her porch.
Why is this a problem? It shouldn’t be. I should love to see the flag! But in this day and age, the fact that my wife is a non-citizen permanent resident makes me see such displays as a threat under an administration that is launching raids all over the country.
I really hope that she is just a patriot who wants to show the flag. But it’s bizarre to see a week after July 4. I never thought I’d live to see the flag as suspect.

My wife was watching a video on YouTube, an atheist going after some particular Christian apologist.
It was preceded by an advert by Ben Shapiro, saying the atheist liberal left is attacking the free speech of conservatives by flagging videos to be demonitised. His “solution” to this in the advert was mass-brigading atheists (where atheist stands in for liberal) to get them demonitised for infringing on conservative “free speech.”
YouTube last year demonitised virtually every video made by atheists calling into question Christian or Muslim theology. Entire channels were demonitised. Christian channels calling for execution of atheists stay monitised however.

A military officer needs to care about the lives of those under his or her command, but has to be able to order troops into battle where they might be killed.
That is a really tough decision for someone, ordering people to die. While empathy toward your troops is important, it cannot rule strategy or tactics.
McClelland may have also looked at his job from a political perspective: If the Union Army was handed a massive defeat under his command, he was done.

But let’s look at the long term effect of such a growth rate: Our current 327 million population would reach over a billion people in 200 years. Let’s beat this dead horse again. It’s important for everyone to know that classified emails don’t get sent around on the unclassified networks and just get a SECRET mark stamped on them. The secret and top secret networks are completely separate networks that have their own servers, websites, and addresses walled off from other networks (ok, I’m aware of black core and crypto separation and can talk at length about it but it’s irrelevant here). Sending an email from a classified network to an unclassified one means going through automated and/or manual guards that stop classified information getting through. None of that happened. Clinton’s server was for unclassified information.
What they were talking about is the material floating around in the public Internet that’s technically classified. If the Washington Post publishes some leaked classified information, that information is still classified even if it’s splattered over every computer from here to Beijing. Anybody with a clearance had a great deal of difficulty following the Snowden and Wikileaks stories because you could easily end up mishandling highly classified information, and security officers would routinely warn people about it. So, as the Secretary of State, emailing a story about a leak and what to do about it was the OMG CLASSIFIED INFORMATION that Fox News hyperventliated about. Before the President* just ended up telling the Russian ambassador about classified missions, that is.

Of course, any analysis should be questioned, but Mr. Dehn makes some good points. Namely,
Bad economic policies begin to extract a political cost.
Instead of fixing the causes of the underlying economic problem, the government decides to attack the symptoms of the problem, such as inflation, slower growth, weaker currency and slowing investment.
The real problems meanwhile are ignored and get worse. They include bad monetary policies, increasing interventionism, failure to develop local financing markets, overly low savings rates and bad foreign policies.
The government also blames other groups instead of itself, because this works politically, but it only makes investors and businesses even more worried as Erdogan will need more and more scapegoats as the economy worsens.
As the economic outlook worsens, investors and businesses begin to take action to defend their wealth and livelihoods. This results in capital flight, declining investment and other hedging strategies.
The government starts to blame the private sector for bad performance, taking action to prevent their defensive actions. Enter capital controls, nationalization, forced conversion of contracts.
Eventually the government has no financing, no growth, no future and plunges into a crisis.

R. Kelly’s behind bars thanks in large part to his own inner circle — enablers and ex-employees who handed the feds videos of Kelly having sex with underage girls, according to the attorney for multiple alleged victims.
Gerald Griggs — who represents Joycelyn Savage’s family among others — tells TMZ the federal investigation run by the Northern District of Illinois uncovered over 20 videos of Kelly engaged with minors.
Both Griggs and our federal law enforcement sources tell us the tapes show multiple victims … and prosecutors confirmed with multiple witnesses the girls were underage. Griggs says several of Kelly’s enablers — past and present — flipped and turned over the tapes to investigators. He says those videos were exactly what the feds needed to secure indictments for sex crimes, including child pornography.

Forest, a Republican, is expected to challenge Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper in 2020.

For a country that is built on the individualism myth, so many have decided that retaining any sense of unique culture or ethnicity is tantamount to treason. And god help me I wish it was a fringe belief, but it really isn’t. Just look at who basically runs DC at this point.

My wife was watching a video on YouTube, an atheist going after some particular Christian apologist.
It was preceded by an advert by Ben Shapiro, saying the atheist liberal left is attacking the free speech of conservatives by flagging videos to be demonitised. His “solution” to this in the advert was mass-brigading atheists (where atheist stands in for liberal) to get them demonitised for infringing on conservative “free speech.”
YouTube last year demonitised virtually every video made by atheists calling into question Christian or Muslim theology. Entire channels were demonitised. Christian channels calling for execution of atheists stay monitised however.
The whole “atheist = libtard” is especially idiotic, as there is a whole subset of conservative/liberatrian atheists on Youtube who are about as Trumpanzee as you can get.

Disney as a corporation doesn’t have “social issues political views” per se; but they do have a bunch of accountants who are well aware that international distribution is a bigger revenue stream than US box office. And they have a bunch of directors and producers who understand that getting the cast they want, the animators they want, the soundtrack artists they want, requires that company policies don’t repel those performers and artists and musicians.

I set my thermostat to 82 during the day and 78 at night. This is to make up for freezing to death in the icebox that is my office. The temperatures there are determined by the needs of the servers in the data center in the next building, not the humans in my building.
