Newly-Discovered Video Shows Donald Trump, Jeffrey Epstein Leering at Women at a Mar-a-Lago Party

I have to admit I really can’t stand “Morning Joe” Scarborough and his ridiculous panel discussions, but this clip is worth seeing because his producers dug up video of Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein leering at and groping women at a Mar-a-Lago party in 1992.

1992…. Had to go back and check, but that’s around the time Trump’s divorce from Ivana became final, and he married Marla Maples in 1993.

Weird. Not weird.

Not that this video would have mattered had it been uncovered during the 2016 election.

It’s not like the Access Hollywood video made a difference. Trump admits to being a sex predator, and his deplorable base considered it a net positive for them.

It’s not the reading part but the comprehending part that Dinesh de Felon doesn’t get.

He’s intent on getting torched every time he goes off on a diatribe about how Democrats are the real racists by peddling his ahistorical agitprop.

Kruse and others will dunk on him from now to eternity.

I can almost envision Dinesh in hell, where he’s going to spend eternity getting dunked on by POC, but then again, it’s almost as if he likes being dunked on because he keeps coming back for more and more.

50-100 first responders in Kentucky are currently participating in the 9/11 VCF.

That means that Ayn Rand Paul’s actions affect those first responders and screw all first responders nationwide who answered the call to help on 9/11 and the months following the attacks to recover the remains of those murdered on that day.

We’ve nearly passed the point where the number of 9/11 first responders dead from 9/11 ailments supersedes the total number killed on 9/11 itself.

Paul’s a fucknut who doesn’t care. He and the rest of the GOP don’t care about first responders the moment the cameras shut off. They only want them there for the photo ops.

A federal judge ordered the release of documents related to the investigation into hush money payments to women claiming they slept with President Trump.

The documents must be posted by 11:00 am eastern on Thursday, July 18, Judge William H. Pauley of the Southern District of New York wrote in a decision released Wednesday.

“The campaign finance violations discussed in the Materials are a matter of national importance. Now that the Government’s investigation into those violations has concluded, it is time that every American has an opportunity to scrutinize the Materials,” Judge Pauley wrote.

That means the 97% of their services which are not abortions will no longer be eligible for any federal funds.

so how about an offset from all the new revenue that cut was supposed to generate? oh, it didnt? record high deficits you say?

then here’s a thought:
maybe reverse some of those tax cuts that have actually proven unnecessary and mis-directed. They were intended to give businesses more capital to invest in production, but it went into dividends, stock buybacks and their pockets.

This will be a procedural matter, which means that depending on how it is phrased (and leadership is working on that phrasing), it will be to send the matter to Judiciary to prepare, or to demand an immediate vote to begin impeachment.

A yea vote could be to demand immediate vote or it could be to send to judiciary depending on the phrasing.

Rep. Mike Kelly, R-Pa., explained his vote against Tuesday’s House resolution condemning President Trump’s tweet that suggested four Democratic congresswomen of color “go back” to their home countries by saying he is “a person of color.”

You know, they talk about people of color,” Kelly told a Vice News reporter before the vote. “I’m a person of color. I’m white. I’m an Anglo Saxon. People say things all the time, but I don’t get offended.”

JFC. They just keep getting worse.

Yeah you only get offended when someone wishes you a Happy Holidays. And I very much doubt anyone has told him to go back where he came from and he’s an idiot to boot. Since I saw he was saying people told him to go back to Ireland and he identifies as an Anglo Saxon.

Anniversary Of The Port Chicago Explosion - 320 People Died On July 17, 1944

Today is the 75th anniversary of the tragic explosion in Port Chicago.

On July 17, 1944, 4600 tons on the Liberty Ship E.A. Bryan, and another 400 tons of explosives on the pier all went up in two separate blasts, which were 7 seconds apart. The explosion is recorded as one of the largest man-made, non-nuclear explosions in history. This explosion accounts for 15% of all African-American casualties in World War II.

320 men were killed, and another 390 were injured.

And the Navy not only demanded those who survived to get back and load ammo, but that the Navy refused to heed their warnings about how unsafe those conditions were in the first place. There was a mutiny a month later, and 50 were court martialed.

There’s now a Port Chicago Naval Magazine National Memorial was dedicated in 1994 to the lives lost in the explosion - but since it’s contained within an active military base, you need to coordinate with the NPS and the military to visit.

Well, Erdogan’s not gonna be happy about this:

“Turkey’s decision to purchase Russian S-400 air defense systems renders its continued involvement with the F-35 impossible,” the White House statement read. “The F-35 cannot coexist with a Russian intelligence collection platform that will be used to learn about its advanced capabilities.”

“Turkey has been a longstanding and trusted partner and NATO Ally for over 65 years, but accepting the S-400 undermines the commitments all NATO Allies made to each other to move away from Russian systems,” the statement continued.

“This will have detrimental impacts on Turkish interoperability with the Alliance. The United States still greatly values our strategic relationship with Turkey. As NATO Allies, our relationship is multi-layered, and not solely focused on the F-35. Our military-to-military relationship is strong, and we will continue to cooperate with Turkey extensively, mindful of constraints due to the presence of the S-400 system in Turkey.”

Read about John Rankin’s response to that tragedy when he discovered most of the victims were black, same crap that the GOP tried doing to 9/11 heroes who were undocumented.

What a racist shitstain he was:

The Navy asked Congress to give each victim’s family $5,000. Representative John E. Rankin (D-MS) insisted the amount be reduced to $2,000 when he learned most of the dead were black men.[45] Congress settled on $3,000 in compensation.[43] Years later, on March 4, 1949, the heirs of eighteen merchant seamen killed in the explosion were granted a total of $390,000 after gaining approval of their consent decrees in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.[46]

More swampy-stuff from Trump:

TRUMP REMOVED THE ONLY NATIVE AMERICAN MEMBER FROM THE CULTURAL PROPERTY ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The sole Native American member on a committee that advises the president on international cultural heritage agreements was removed and replaced last week, members of the committee confirmed. Shannon Keller O’Loughlin, a citizen of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, was appointed to the Department of State’s Cultural Property Advisory Committee in 2016 by former President Barack Obama. She is the first and only Native American to have ever served on the committee.

The advisory committee is responsible for making recommendations on whether or not to enter into cultural property agreements with foreign governments. Those agreements can help protect culturally significant archeological property by cracking down on illegal exports, and providing museum training and on-the-ground preservation efforts.

[…]

President Donald Trump’s former White House lawyer, Stefan Passantino, was appointed as O’Loughlin’s replacement last Thursday. Among the dozen current members of the committee, Passantino stands out: While most are archeology and museum professionals, or specialists in the international sale of cultural property and historic preservation, he is an attorney who specializes in campaign finance law.

“Days before Prime Minister Imran Khan was due to visit Washington, Pakistan attempted to smooth things over with President Trump on Wednesday by announcing the arrest of a notorious militant leader who has been living openly for years despite a $10-million U.S. bounty,” the Los Angeles Times reports.

The arrest was not unexpected: Pakistan has detained and released Saeed several times before, most recently in 2017, when he served 10 months under house arrestYet President Trump immediately sought to claim credit for Saeed’s latest arrest, tweeting that it was the result of a ‘ten year search’ and that ‘great pressure has been exerted over the last two years to find him.’”

re: #187 gwangung

So where does the general population stand? If it’s still in the 50s and 60s against, there’s reason to stall…..

Per the Hill:

The survey, conducted by hill.tv and the HarrisX polling company, found that 40 percent of registered voters polled said House Democrats should begin impeachment proceedings, while 41 percent said Democrats in the chamber should not begin the process.

Nineteen percent of respondents said they were unsure on the matter.

Again… I’m not suggesting that the vote should be immediate, that is going to go over like a wet fart in church. But we need something more than the bullshit weak ass “oversight” the House leadership has been offering the last few weeks.

I fully believe if there was someone out there, leading the charge daily for an impeachment inquiry, constantly reminding people of all the potential illegal/unlawful/unconstitutional things that Trump has been doing, the numbers would continue to move.

And if the Dem leadership was smart, they’d find someone and tell them, “look, we have to take the fire for our members in moderate/conservative districts, but we’re tapping you to do this; you’re not going to have our outward support… yet, but lead the charge in creating a scenario where we have to act.”

I’ve been thinking about what a non-racist conservative party might look like. The current GOP’s only economic policy is to redistribute as much wealth as possible to the 1%, so all it has to offer to the middle class is culture wars, so in order to give up racism the GOP would have to reorder its priorities so that it has something else to offer. I don’t believe its even possible, but here are my thoughts anyway. To keep government limited and keep most people from needing government assistance, a conservative party could support unionization so that workers had the leverage to freely bargain for decent wages. It would also emphasize a lower tax burden on people in the lower half of the income ladder to put more money in the hands of people who need it, instead of tax cuts for the rich. It would quit denying science and support cap and trade to accurately price carbon in the energy market. It would support its own freaking market exchange plan, the ACA, so people could keep their private health insurance in opposition to Medicare4all. It would still be socially conservative, but with contraceptives being free with the ACA unplanned pregnancies are going down, and it would support programs to enable ordinary people to afford families, such as paid parental leave and affordable daycare, and it would support investment in our future like education and infrastructure. A sane conservative party, but one I don’t expect to see in my lifetime.

20…. which is the same number of wrestlers that the Japanese promotion NJPW have in their big wrestling tournament:

NJPW G1 Climax 29 schedule, blocks, bracket, results, 2019 dates, live stream, matches

Perhaps the DNC should do their thing like NJPW.

Put the 20 candidates into two blocks.

In each block, each candidate goes one-on-one with the others, so each candidate gets 9 mini-debates (say 20 minutes).

Makes for a total of 90 mini-debates, but spread over a month period it wouldn’t be too bad. And we’d be able to see how the individuals do in response to real questions.

Each debate can be scored. Then the A block winner faces the B block winner for a longer debate.

Serving in office can be a career, but not running for office. Some places have ‘citizen legislatures’, that don’t meet ALL year, so they can keep their real job. Hard to see how that could work most places, especially at the Federal level.

Because of how elections are staggered at the federal, state, and local levels, there’s basically always someone running for some office somewhere. Throw in the way we’ve expanded the calendar on presidential elections (and that in turn trickling down to Congressional elections) and the next election cycle basically starts a week after the election. I just don’t know how we stop that, especially when there is a talk radio/cable news industrial complex to feed now.

There are traditionally two “rebuild the military” arguments.

The first is that the previous administration didn’t pay enough attention and let our bases/service members/equipment fall into disuse/disrepair and now we need to modernize.

The second is that we’ve been too active with our military and need to replenish.

It’s not even DoD’s wish list… when the Republicans are in charge of Congress, they vote for acquisitions the Pentagon doesn’t even want. Stuff that isn’t needed, doesn’t work, and is way more expensive than the needed and/or working stuff that it’s supposed to replace.

True, but modern war is hideously expensive—another good reason to avoid it until all else has failed. If we have one or two technically competent enemies, a lot of the budget goes to maintaining a chosen level of parity. We must run near full speed just to stay in one place.

In the last 30 years, our docrtine has actually stepped back a couple times from the cold war goal of successfully fighting two intercontinental conflicts simultaneously.

I’m sad to hear this news. Have been a PP donor for years now. I hope that supporters step up to donate — especially those with deep pockets. Conservatives won this battle but may lose the war. The next Democratic President must reverse Trump’s sabotage and if Congress is controlled by Democrats, legislation should be passed to protect PP.

re: #246 Decatur Deb

True, but modern war is hideously expensive—another good reason to avoid it until all else has failed. If we have one or two technically competent enemies, a lot of the budget goes to maintaining a chosen level of parity. We must run near full speed just to stay in one place.

In the last 30 years, our docrtine has actually stepped back a couple times from the cold war goal of successfully fighting two intercontinental conflicts simultaneously.

Those who profit from war must be kept away from the government. Down to the lobbyists.

While the RL dynamic is just the opposite. There are studies on the post-retirement careers of generals and admirals. They fill the boardrooms not only of DoD-related businesses, but almost all US institutions.

Adam Silverman’s take:

I’m traveling this week, with lots of 0300 starts and wasn’t planning to post, but I just got into the gym at the airport hotel I’m staying at ahead of tomorrow’s pre dawn flight, and MSNBC is on the TV. And the Democrats are actually voting to table (put it to the side and not take up impeachment) an impeachment resolution of the President. This is happening despite only 89 members of the House Democratic caucus publicly stating they support starting an impeachment inquiry!

I have no idea whose idea this is, but I cannot state loudly or strongly enough how galactically stupid this is. Strategic and political malpractice at the highest levels! When this passes, meaning the House will not move to take up impeachment at this time, and it will pass, the President will spend the next week crowing about how he’s been cleared. He’ll use it to chew up the information space that should be devoted to the spillover onto him from the Epstein case, from his publicly going full in on blood and soil herrenvolkism where racism and anti-Semitism in defense of Judaism and Jews equated with Israel and Israelis is no vice, and the upcoming Mueller hearings in the House.

The motion to table just passed: 136 Democrats for, 93 against, and 1 present (abstaining). 194 Republicans and the 1 Independent (Amash?) voted to table it as well. So for now, the House, with overwhelming bipartisan support, isn’t going to do anything more on impeachment and I expect the President will start screaming about being cleared any time now.

Completely irresponsible political theater!

Open thread!

PS: Before anyone asks, I think the House should have a special select committee on impeachment focusing all the investigations through one point leading to either impeachment or exoneration. That’s not what happened with today’s strategic stupidity.

The passport could be a forgery, which only makes the case for the prosecutors (and adds to list of potential crimes). Or it’s legit, in which case Epstein has even more questions to answer for. The judge should rule against bail on that alone.

Right, telling the judge “That’s a fake that’s never been used!,” only for the prosecution to show the receipts is not really going to help their argument for letting him out on house arrest.

Ugh.

Where’d I put my wine.

We did that earlier here in IL. Temps went from over 90 to 70 in a blast, doors blew open, branches blew down… had a heavy flush of rain, but it was over in a hurry, leaving only about a half inch. Tomorrow, back up into mid to upper 90s, and probably more storms.

This is really interesting. It is about the second and third parts of the plan.

How Kamala Harris Plans to Take on the Pharmaceutical Industry

What is unique about Harris’s plan is that she is increasingly developing proposals that include two tiers. The first tier includes legislation she would propose as president—like giving HHS the power to set limits on prescription drug prices. The second tier lays out how she would use existing executive authority if congress fails to act. She has done this with her proposals on gun control, equal pay, and immigration.

It is in this second tier of Harris’s plan for prescription drugs that her proposal stands out. Pharmaceutical companies found to be price-gouging will be given 30 days to offer a price reduction. If they fail to do so, alternatives will be approved for importation from other countries.

But the final step involves the use of existing authority under the Bayh-Dole Act to “march-in” and license a drug company’s patent to a lower-cost competitor. What Harris is proposing was described here at the Washington Monthly by Alicia Mundy, who wrote that the next president can lower drug prices with the stroke of a pen.

WF Buckley’s pretense of being civilized and reasonable may have been the origin story of the media’s Great Both-Siderist Lie.

After all, it is difficult to both-sides things if US conservatism is seen for what it so clearly is: a collage of resentment based politics where the sociopathic leaders gull stupid followers into scapegoating others as ‘solutions’ to their problems.

‘Federalism’ etc. from Buckley and the Natural Review sounds ever so much better than this.

So we know this. They are operating off pure adrenaline and Spite. It’s more powerful of a hit than meth. And thousands of times more addictive. And here we are. Plus there’s a big giant orange fire hose spewing fresh batches of that shit every day.

We also know that these fucks will crawl over broken glass to vote for the Spite Caucus. Over and over, with glass cutting into their vacant souls. Proudly and with a smugness that is truly evil. Evangelicals vote in such huge numbers that their mere 15 or so percent of America’s total tips elections regularly. Throw in a complicit media and stupid, shortsighted, spoiled and selfish population and it’s overwhelming.

But we can win this. There are more of us. Turn out has GOT to be key. And we need more smart and savvy people with support to run. A lot of areas have no ground game at ALL. Our biggest mistakes seem to center around letting the media set the message. It’s not just politics, look just at how rape gets talked about in the media. That’s not the only topic they contort and twist to shape cultural ideas and reinforce really awful shit. Even with good turnout, the media is still awful and it’s not serving in our best interests.

That to me is one of our biggest challenges, consistent fighting back against all this mess. I’ve thought for a long time that action has got to be directed at media outlets, but I have no idea how to make that work. Wingnuts already lose their shit and jam phone lines and harass and scare people and intimidate. How can we get any results without getting in people’s faces? Because being nice and taking the high road doesn’t work with people who want you to go away and die. We find ourselves here in a big part because accurate information is terribly difficult for the average person to come by and our media is mostly awful. Look at how successful this has been and for how long. Media made this much easier than it ever should have been. Somethings, lots of things need to be fixed.
