In Which Donald Trump Fantasizes About Killing “10 Million People”

Politics • Views: 25,273

Today, our terrible racist president*, who is still very very racist, would like credit for not killing 10 million people. He could if he wanted to, but he doesn’t want to, but he could. But he doesn’t want to. But he could.

You want to know how future terrorists get radicalized? THIS is how.

Also fun fact: There are over 30 million people living in Afghanistan right now.

Trump has mused about using nukes on multiple occasions. This is just the latest one.

He’s threatened Iran with nukes. He’s wondered why we haven’t used nukes before.

Now he threatens to use nukes against Afghanistan.

Never mind that using nukes wouldn’t eliminate the threat - the Taliban and Al Qaeda used the region along the Pakistani-Afghan border to cross back and forth to avoid US interdiction. That includes Waziristan (former FATA).

Trump wouldn’t win. He’d leave us far worse off and more vulnerable to terror attacks here and abroad. There’s nothing justifying nuclear weapons use, least of all against a terror group with limited reach at this point.

Trump went with the MOAB use, which is the largest conventional weapon we have, and it had precisely zero effect on the outcome. Going even larger wouldn’t have any effect either.

It’s like when the US bombed Vietnam to go after North Vietnamese and Viet Cong that were using the Cu Chi tunnels in the Iron Triangle. Even mass carpet bombing had minimal effect on the tunnel complex unless there was a direct hit.

But he’s got his finger on the nuclear button and he’s got a real itchy trigger finger. His base doesn’t care - they wouldn’t mind if he nuked a few million (or a whole lot more) Muslims.

He’s done that with the wall too - claiming that he’s built miles and miles of new wall. Not a single mile of new wall has been built. Rebuilding existing fence isn’t adding to the wall, no matter how much Trump crows.

It’s the summer of 1944, and Trump announces: “I have plans on France, that, if I wanted to win that war, France would be wiped off the face of the earth…I don’t want to go that route.”

Trump rambles about nukes the way the typical internet troll might or the crazy uncle at your holiday dinner. He enjoys making the threats but his actual history suggests he would not engage in such measures. He’s a bully promoting chaos throughout the world but not a fan of actual conflict. This is Gretna, Louisiana (there is also a Gretna, Nebraska).

If the name rings a bell, it might be because the Gretna police were involved in a notorious incident just after Hurricane Katrina in 2005:

The city and its police received considerable press coverage when, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005, people who attempted to escape from New Orleans by walking over the Crescent City Connection bridge over the Mississippi River were turned back at gunpoint by City of Gretna Police, along with Crescent City Connection Police and Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s deputies, who set up a roadblock on the bridge in the days following the hurricane. According to eyewitnesses, some officers threatened to shoot those coming from New Orleans as they attempted to cross into Gretna on foot, and shots were fired overhead.

re: #43 Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel

Incidentally, the officer’s threat was directly incited by a fake quote (“we pay soldiers too much”) attributed to AOC by a right wing “satire” site called TatersGonnaTate .com.

After Gretna cop’s AOC ‘needs a round’ post, a look at ‘fake news’ site that stirs controversy

(This) is billed as satire by its creator, but fact-checking organizations say it’s part of a strain of web content that exists only to provoke outrage among those guileless enough to spread it, reaping revenue from page views in the process. It’s fake news as defined by the term before it became stretched to encompass any article one might dislike.

Taters is part of a family of websites run by Christopher Blair that has included America’s Last Line of Defense, Freedum Junktion, As American as Apple Pie and Our Land of the Free. Its bylines include Fallis Gunnington and Flagg Eagleton; the sites have featured stories about Democrats forcing school children to learn Arabic numerals and U.S. soccer star Megan Rapinoe dumping Ocasio-Cortez for former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who is reviled on the right for his protests against police brutality.

So, there’s a post about why Pence canceled that trip to NH two weeks ago.

Turns out that one of the people he was going to meet was under federal investigation for being a drug dealer, despite being involved in addiction counseling and treatment services:

The vice president’s aides and even President Donald Trump himself kept up the suspense. “You’ll know in about two weeks,” Trump told reporters at the time. “There was a very interesting problem that they had in New Hampshire.”

Among the problems was a federal law enforcement probe involving individuals Pence would likely encounter, according to a law enforcement official briefed on the incident. If Pence stepped off the vice presidential aircraft, one of the people he would have seen on the ground was under investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration for moving more than $100,000 of fentanyl from Massachusetts to New Hampshire.

Jeff Hatch, who agreed in federal court Friday to plead guilty and will face up to four years in prison, works for an opioid addiction treatment center in southern New Hampshire that Pence was set to visit. A former New York Giants player, he has spoken publicly for years about his own challenge with drug and alcohol addiction, which ended his football career.

He has been on stage with Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and is known throughout the state for warning students about the dangers of using drugs. “He has been beaten down in the past, but now stands tall in front of audiences to personally share his compelling story,” says a listing offering him to speak to groups.

A couple of months ago our dog’s collar got caught on a knife in the utensil compartment. It freaked her out so she quickly jerked back pulling the entire bottom tray out and across the floor and breaking a couple of (cheap) plates and one of the wheels that guides the tray. She is much more careful in her approach now.

That happened to Rango, who of course let out the Greyhound Scream Of Death (GSOD) and pulled the tray half out. What a drama queen!

I caught one of our cats scritching his chin on the point of a paring knife in the dish rack (on the counter, no machine).

I now dry knives with a towel and put them away.

Maybe he understands that Labour would be running the show if it weren’t for his Stalinistic and anti-Semitic tendencies. How far this party has fallen due to a toxic leader! In a sense the same can be said of the Tory party — but there the problem was Cameron’s stupidity, not any malevolent tendencies, followed by May’s incompetence, though perhaps after the Brexit vote, the die was cast and there was no way for the Tory Party to recover.

My book club just read “Autumn” by Ali Smith, a book published in 2016 and described as the first masterpiece about Brexit. Clearly much of the book was written before the vote — but it certainly reflects the poisons damaging our nation as well as the UK.

Oh yeah, I used to see locals in Hawaii eating the weirdest things - I was at Makapuu Beach body-surfing once, when a guy with a mask and snorkel jumped out of the water holding an octopus and proceeded to cut it up and eat it right there. Mmm, tentacles. (It was pretty gross and disturbing, actually.)

A little update on Puerto Rico.

After last night’s Facebook Live, the governor met with his party’s mayors and some legislators to discuss undisclosed topics. Rumors have it that he asked them to delay indefinitely the impeachment process.

Today was the Big March To Remove Rosselló(tm). The participation exceeded expectations.

As always, David Begnaud has excellent coverage on it:

For comparison, this was 20 years ago, on a strike to stop the US Navy from using the Vieques island as a bombing testing ground:

Facebook Post

Taking a queue from the Republicans’ playbook, Rosselló took to Fox News (which, as Begnaud notes, it’s not easily accessible to Puerto Ricans in the Island) for an interview. Shepard Smith was having none of it. When asked about who still supports him, he could only name one mayor.

The mayor could not run fast enough from Rosselló.

Oh, and Trump spoke on the subject.

It really pains me to say he’s mostly correct.

So the right-wing freakout is about to begin, because Drudge is featuring a Washington Examiner piece about how - surprise - Trump is all talk and no action, and hasn’t actually built ANY new wall on the border with Mexico

washingtonexaminer.com

The Trump administration has not installed a single mile of new wall in a previously fenceless part of the U.S.-Mexico border in the 30 months since President Trump assumed office, despite his campaign promise to construct a “big beautiful wall.”

In a statement last week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the federal agency overseeing border barrier construction, confirmed that all the fencing completed since Trump took office is “in place of dilapidated designs” because the existing fence was in need of replacement.

There may be a way out there. Just tell them that all the brown and gay people are gone, and any suggestion that this is not so is a hoax. Then they can continue to blissfully live in their little bubbles, safe from objective reality.

Not a baboon. It has a long tail and it is too small. Either a South American monkey or possible a langur, my primatologists rusty.

Well, the person who makes a living as a primatologist called it a baboon, so you’ll excuse me if I take her word for it.

Also, do any langurs have the elongated ‘dog face’?

230
Belafon  Jul 22, 2019 • 2:59:39pm

politico.com

Justice Department officials have communicated to Robert Mueller that the department expects him to limit his congressional testimony this week to the public findings of his 448-page report, according to one current and one former U.S. official familiar with the preparations.

In extensive discussions since the former special counsel was subpoenaed to testify on June 25, department officials have emphasized that they consider any evidence he gathered throughout the course of his investigation to be “presumptively privileged” and shielded from public disclosure.

Mueller should tell them that it’s public privileged since the public paid for it.

A lot of them, actually. She enjoyed it so much I let her keep the bow’n’arras. (It’s not like I don’t have LOTS more, plus it was a 20# one I’d bought for Mrs. FBW, who shot it once, maybe.)

I still have them! Haven’t made it out to the range in a bit but I need to fix that. Need more hours in a day, honestly. Or probably less time spent running, but …more hours in a day. Yep.

More hours in the day, yeah, that’d be nice! More days in a weekend, too. One day to do nothing; one day to work on watches; one day to do yardwork; one day for a big ride; one day for shopping and cooking. I think I need to work 2 days a week and have 5 day weekends.

I do not have the expensive Garmin watch that tells me the temperature during my run but SmashRun tells me it was 87 at the start of my run today. And the temp at the local weather station is typically 1-3 degrees hotter than what they pull from.

Plus the sun! Ugh.

At least it made me feel better about feeling like death through the whole thing. Much easier to blame the temperature and possibly the slight hangover.

I finally broke down and got myself a Garmin cyclocomputer. I’d been using a separate HRM, a cyclocomputer that did cadence as well as speed/distance, and a Strava app on my iPhone. I didn’t even realize the Garmin did temperature till I saw it in the uploaded data online.

Mind you, the ‘temperature’ is what temp IT is, so it takes at least a mile to cool down to ambient if it’s been in a hot car.

Go out into the wind, and hope it doesn’t turn around. Or go out up hill, but you’re where those turn around too.

Around here, it’s all about where you park.

For my after-work rides, if I park at Canada and 92, the last 5 miles will be a joyless, increasingly cold slog into the wind.

If I park at Canada and Edgewood, I can start out with 4 miles into an increasingly harsh headwind followed by being blown back down the road. Or I can head south from their and go up the temperature gradient, but that’s also starting with a slow spin uphill for a mile or so.

From home, I don’t really have a choice that doesn’t involve a lot of climbing. And wind.

i posted my pool/pond update without reading anything first, so i didnt know.

i think about all you folks a lot. Every one.

If I were unmarried and my mom was healthier, i’d have long ago hopped on my bike and traveled around the country looking for each and every one of you willing to be found and wanting share an afternoon.

There’s a lot of lovely scenery just west of me — Denver metro, good excuse to visit :)

Only one Lizard has taken me up on it so far (hi Anymouse and mrs. Mouse!), but the offer very much stands - if you’re journeying through western New York and would like a cup of coffee, a meal and/or a chat, message me and I’ll gladly meet you near the Thruway or wherever.

Professional reasons require me to be quite anonymous here, but away from the screen, I’d love to meet more lizards, too.

This may be a little late, and excuse me please if it is … but OMG are the QAnon wackos out of the goddam tiny little minds:

QAnon believer assassinates Gambino Family mob boss

Mr. Comello, 24, arrived at the home of Francesco (Franky Boy) Cali, a leader in the Gambino crime family, and lured him outside. The men spoke briefly. Then prosecutors say Mr. Comello pulled a gun from his car and shot Mr. Cali, leaving him to die in the street.

Mr. Comello, an aimless young man who lived with his parents on Staten Island, was arrested three days later and charged with murder.

But court documents filed on Friday offered a glimpse into the deeply troubled mind of Mr. Comello, who his defense lawyer says was so deluded by internet conspiracy theories that he was determined to conduct a citizen’s arrest of Mr. Cali and turn the Mafia leader over to the military.

Bets on how long this delusional little freak lasts if he ever hits Gen Pop?

Oh, look… another count of abuse of office for the Articles of Impeachment.

Is there anyone in the House majority that used to be a plaintiff’s attorney? Particularly one who handled complex civil matters?

Because that’s really the sort of person we need drawing up articles of impeachment.

It’s for the Army Futures Command (AFC) meet and greet tonight. Dirt Darts, Army Field Band, Army Concert Band, &c.

The AFC is a research group for Army weapons systems and assorted tech and dirty tricks that recently was activated in town to work with tech firms and the Jake Pickle Research Center at UT (which helped to develop, among other things, the Navy’s new rail gun).

I’m honestly a bit concerned for the dog since the Trump family show no signs of any kind of empathy that would make for good dogparents.

The Pence family has pets that have survived. Given Trump’s hostility to dogs, this almost seems like an act of rebellion by Ivanka. Either that, or it’s part of her plan to succeed her father in 2024.

If I were unmarried and my mom was healthier, i’d have long ago hopped on my bike and traveled around the country looking for each and every one of you willing to be found and wanting share an afternoon.

I know no one comes to this part of the country unless they are thoroughly lost or completely unhinged, but if any of you here do find yourselves in my little town, just ask at the general store on US-26 and they can direct you to my house. (Just describe some facts about me so they know you know of me - the store is used to out-of-staters asking where I live from others who have dropped by.)

Donald Trump is full of crap; he hasn’t done diddly for active duty or veterans.

And in that tweet, he’s claiming credit for what people in the Senate and House did (and probably doesn’t know what they did).

Gives him a bill to veto though if it comes up during Robert Mueller’s testimony to the House … you know if they did that the news media would cut away to cover that.

Wingnuts will call these neighbors Anti-American but the Anti-American thing would have been to let it happen.

Wingnuts don’t believe the rights guaranteed in the Constitution for all persons within US jurisdiction applies to all persons. They won’t (usually) say it (yet), but that’s because they don’t think some groups are persons.

The more unhinged ones promote Pinochet or Rwanda genocide memes though.

Man accused of impersonating Homeland Security officer attempts arrest of former city councilman

According to a police report, 48-year-old Donn Wojtowicz has been arrested and charged with impersonating a public servant. On November 27, a grand jury indicted him on the charge.

The report says on October 17, 2018, a former Lubbock city councilman, who asked to remain anonymous, was driving to Costco and was on 34th Street when he noticed a vehicle driving erratically on the road. The man driving the vehicle, now identified as Wojtowicz, began yelling at the former councilman from his vehicle. Wojtowicz followed the victim to the Costco parking lot, according to the police report. The former city councilman is the victim in this story and asked to not be identified.

The former city councilman is the victim in this story and asked to not be identified.

The report says Wojtowicz got out of his vehicle and walked to the former city councilman’s vehicle. The victim stayed inside his vehicle, but Wojtowicz began yelling that he is from homeland security and that the victim was under arrest. He also told the former councilman he needed to take him to the court house. The victim stayed inside his vehicle and called 911 while Wojtowicz continued to yell, “you’re under arrest.”

Wojtowicz left the area, but not before his license plate was written down.

Also finding needles. All kinds of needles in a variety of sizes. About 200 Size 11 quilting needles and that just counts the ones still in their original packets. I wish I could say I was exaggerating.

She had a sweatshirt that said “The one who dies with the most fabric wins.” Also an undone pattern for a wall hanging that said “The one who dies with the most fabric isn’t sewing fast enough…” She didn’t win, but she was sure in there trying.

re: #349 KGxvi

the debt limit is probably unconstitutional. The money has been appropriated, and any borrowing the government does is backed by the full faith and credit clause.

It’s also incredibly stupid policy which should go the fuck away and die alone.

The Public Debt Act of 1939 is what eliminated different classes of debt and established a ceiling on all debt (about 0.5% of the public debt is not covered by the debt limit, being the remaining debt from WW1).

Most countries appropriate the money as part of a bill authorising expenditures. Poland has a constitutional clause that says no budget is valid if money is not appropriated.

The problem is who has the standing to take the debt ceiling law to court? Congress could repeal the law, and the Supreme Court normally doesn’t like stepping on the legislature’s toes.
