Trump Tells Israel to Deny Entry to His Hate Targets, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib

Politics • Views: 23,146

In his latest grotesquely bigoted and thoroughly creepy move, Donald Trump has now pressured Israel into banning US Congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib from visiting.

JERUSALEM — Israel on Thursday barred the entry of two American Democratic congresswomen who had planned to visit the West Bank, hours after President Trump had urged the country to block them.

Mr. Trump’s intervention was an extraordinary step to influence an allied nation and punish his political opponents at home.

The two congresswomen, Representatives Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, both freshmen, are the first two Muslim women elected to Congress. Both are outspoken adversaries of Mr. Trump and have been vocal in their support of the Palestinians and the boycott-Israel movement.

The president has targeted them in speeches and Twitter postings that his critics have called racist and xenophobic.

It was reported last week that Mr. Trump was pressing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel to deny entrance to the two women, and Thursday morning he left little doubt. While Israeli officials were still deliberating the matter, he said in a Twitter post that “it would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit.”

It doesn’t hurt their arguments for sure. I don’t believe in BDS personally but our relationship with Israel is supposed to be based on shared democratic values. Trump and Bibi are making it based on their shared bigotry.

The only thing good I can say about Century Link is that they aren’t as bad as Charter/Spectrum and steal less money a month.

The Crooked Media guys have a new poll out, focused on Wisconsin. Warren is leading the primary there, with Sanders in second and Biden in third (29-24-20).

In the general “the Democratic Nominee” leads Trump 46-45, with 3% undecided and 6% saying third party (I suspect at lot of that 6% is likely winnable come November).

Trump Administration: The Huddled Masses Can Go Fuck Themselves The Rude Pundit, of course

Let’s get one thing straight here right off: If you are a legal immigrant in nearly every other country in the world, you are allowed to participate in that country’s national health system. You’re paying for the benefit through your taxes and other fees, and, goddamnit, just like everyone else legally in the country, you don’t have to worry about paying much of anything else for your medical care. Nothing will be held against you. Nothing will turn you into a “public charge” or whatever fuckin’ term for “undesirable” you want to use. And that’s because most every other country in the world is not filled with ignorant savages who think that calling health care a “right” is akin to mass enslavement by socialists.

All these immigrants have paid more in federal income tax than Trump has as a result of Trump’s billion dollar NOL loss. Trump can make $100 million in taxable income this year, but pay no income tax because that NOL loss can offset whatever taxable income. And he can keep doing that until the NOL is used up (or 20 years have passed on the carryforward).

From downstairs

According to his golf course’s latest filing with Bedminster Township to justify its “farmland assessment” tax break, Trump maintains eight goats and farms hay on 113.2 acres. Another 70.6 acres of adjacent woods are also set aside as agricultural, so that a total of 183.8 of the golf resort’s 514 acres are taxed at a much lower rate ― *** just over $6 an acre, rather than $462.***

This is the sort of thing that makes me believe the BDS advocates have a legitimate point.

I do not publicly advocate for BDS, but de facto participate in it.

BDS wasn’t invented for Israel. It was invented for apartheid South Africa. The GOP howled then that BDS was “un-American” or whatnot as well (because that party has been full of racists my whole life).

BDS was successful as a worldwide movement as part of several strategies to bring about change in South Africa.

BDS with Israel is for exactly the same thing. Some people call what is done with Palestinians apartheid, but I prefer the more correct term “genocide.”

I do not have anything against the Israeli people, but I do against the Israeli government.

The same happened with North Carolina’s bathroom bill. An outcry across the nation arose, with people vowing they would not buy anything from there or spend money there.

My wife and I had just put in an order for wood products for several hundred dollars, and when the bill passed, we cancelled the order. The person we ordered it from complained of the same thing “why do you hate North Carolinians?” It wasn’t about that, it was about rewarding a government filled with bigots.

The same applied in South Africa, and the same applies in Israel.

My money is the only political power I have, and no Republican talking point is going to shame me into spending it where they want.

That’s not good for Democrats if they only lead Trump by one point in the general. Sigh.

This far out, and without know who the Democratic nominee will be (or if there would be any even semi-legitimate third party nominees), I feel like that number is fine. Trump only got 47% in Wisconsin in 2016, so that 45% is probably his ceiling. For whomever the Dems nominate - the key will be that 3% undecided and 6% third party vote, along with expanding the electorate.

I reas it and don’t think it’s that bad.

Democrat Poised To Make Gains With Third Party Voters, Those Who Did Not Vote in 2016

If the 2020 Presidential election were today, 45% of voters in Wisconsin would likely cast their vote for Donald Trump; 38% would “definitely” vote for him. 46% of voters in Wisconsin would likely vote for the Democratic candidate with 39% of them “definitely” voting for the Democrat.

Those who voted for Hillary Clinton and those who went for Trump in 2016 plan to stick with the same party at similar levels: 94% of each plan to stay on their side of aisle in 2020. Most of the movement we see is among those who voted for a third party candidate in 2016 or who did not vote at all.

Two-thirds of Jill Stein voters plan to vote for the Democrat in 2020; however, this is a fairly small group (Stein got 1% of the vote in 2016). Of the 3.6% who voted for Gary Johnson, 30% plan to vote Democratic, 22% Republican — but most of Johnson’s voters who are leaning Democratic say they’ll “definitely” do so, while most of those who are inclined to go Republican are more tentative.

Those who did not vote in 2016 — including those who have become newly eligible in the intervening years — lean towards the Democrat by a 45-30 margin. Another 9% of these voters plan to support a third party candidate, and 16% plan to stay home in 2020.

Am I reading this wrong?

If you run with those numbers - 2/3 of Stein voters and 30% of Johnson voters to Clinton and 22% of Johnson voters to Trump, Clinton wins Wisconsin by about 6600 votes. I seriously doubt that either the Libertarian or Green Party will run anyone semi-credible, so I don’t expect third party candidates to get nearly 6% of the vote nationally this time. And my hunch is that most of that 6% is going to break against Trump.

Lying for Jesus has been promoted since the early days of Protestants. It is generally justified by the passage about Rahab in Joshua.

What harm could it do if a man told a good lusty lie in a worthy cause and for the sake of the Christian Churches?—Martin Luther

Folks like Mark Taylor are not actors fleecing rubes for their money. They believe to their core that liberals are anti-Christianity and liberals who are Christians are somehow working for Satan, along with atheists who don’t believe in Satan.

Therefore they view the political realm as fundamentally a religious realm which must be fought over. That is how Christians justify all sorts of atrocities in the name of either politics or their religion: The ends justify the means.

GE was removed from the DJIA in June 2018. The stock has been flailing for the past few years, and has been in trouble ever since GE Capital took it on the chin from the Great Recession.

His videos regularly get demonistised (as most atheist content at YouTube does) because religious people conflate attacking religious ideas with attacking them personally.

Bear in mind why Luther made that statement.

Philip of Hesse was a powerful supporter of Luther’s nascent Protestant Reformation; thus maintaining his support was critical both politically and financially.

Philip took a second wife (bigamy) and after a series of political manoeuvers to justify it failed, looked to Luther’s theologian supporters to justify the bigamy. At the time Luther opposed it but his own people supported it for the necessity of Philip’s support.

Later, when all this private conversation about Philip came out, Luther made the statement attributed to him (he was basically taking the fall for his own theologians’ support of Philip for political and financial reasons), arguing that Philip’s bigamy was better than Philip divorcing his first wife, because Bible (bigamy is sanctioned in the Bible, but divorce is not - at least in the New Testament).

As such, lying about the conversations with Philip was used to justify looking the other way on his bigamy, because they needed his money and support.

Jeffery Epstein was an entitled prick to the end. An article at Forbes details the way Epstein would monopolized the one of two attorney-client visiting rooms to avoid being in his cell. Epstein and his lawyers would meet for up to 8 hours a day making it difficult for other lawyers to meet with their clients.

It’s worse than that. According to the opening of the article at Forbes:

The day after he was taken off suicide watch, disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein spent at least two hours locked up alone with a young woman, in a private room reserved for inmates and their attorneys, according to an attorney who was visiting the prison that day.

“The optics were startling. Because she was young. And pretty,” said the visiting attorney, who asked that his name not be used because he didn’t want to create friction with the prison administration. NBC News has reported that Epstein paid his lawyers to sit with him in a room for eight hours a day for attorney-client meetings, allowing him to avoid his cell.

The visiting attorney went to the Manhattan Correctional Center on July 30, a day after Epstein was reportedly taken off suicide watch and transferred into the Special Housing Unit (SHU). During the hours the visiting attorney was present, it wasn’t Epstein’s main lawyer, Reid Weingarten, or other named attorneys who visited him.

2) Israel is far from perfect, but it is a democracy.
3) Putting pressure on Israel to negotiate peace with the Palestinians will not work unless you also put pressure on the Palestinians.

I could go on having spent time there years ago. South Africa and Israel are two different situations, the main one is that White South Africans never had a claim to any of the land, but even it you disagree see number 3.

It’s about proportionality.

There’s a pretty extreme double standard from the people who want serious activism against Israel, for offenses that pale in comparison to Saudi Arabia, Egypt, UAE, Kuwait, Pakistan, etc etc etc. There’s people want to hold Israel to a vastly higher standard than other “allies” who receive comparable foreign aid.

What South Africa was doing was a LOT more extreme than what Israel is doing; and what North Carolina tried was was off base from what the rest of the States found acceptable.

A Fox News poll released Thursday showed President Trump losing head-to-head matchups against four of the top Democratic primary contenders following the second round of debates last month.

The poll found Trump with the support of 39 percent of registered voters against Sens. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Kamala Harris (D-Calif.), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), while registering just 38 percent support from voters in a matchup against former Vice President Joe Biden.

Warren and Harris registered support among 46 and 45 percent of voters in matchups against the president, respectively, while Sanders was supported by 48 percent of voters in a head-to-head contest with Trump. Biden was supported by the most voters, 50 percent, in a one-on-one race against the president. Source: The Hill

Don’t you at least have a small ups where you are? That might be a good investment.

UPS? You mean power supply?

No we don’t have one here. They’re far too expensive for the little use we’d get out of one.

The only time our power was out for an amount of time that would matter was the second tornado which ripped the external wiring out of our house and damaged the internal wiring.

Reminds me of a scene in Batman Beyond (the series).

One of Terry’s classmates is attacked and almost killed. Bruce Wayne asked who might want to hurt him. Terry’s reply: “The line starts with me and goes around the block … twice.”

Seems like Epstein made those kind of friends everywhere.

“Becky” comes from Barbecue Becky, calling the cops on a black family in Oakland for barbecuing in a park.

“Karen” comes from the fact that the peak time for the popularity of the name Karen was in the late Fifties and early Sixties, and are somewhat the embodiment of the entitled woman in a store demanding what she wants or your job.

Karen was almost unheard of as a name until the later part of the Great Depression, and by 1975 had become obscure again as a baby name.

Thank you for responding.

I don’t find that ploughing under an entire family’s homes for the actions of one criminal to be proportional. I see dividing up the Occupied West Bank into tiny homelands with no possibility for investment exactly the same as that employed by South Africa. I see the same with demanding checkpoints all over the OWB, and driving a wall through people’s private property to separate them no different than Donald Trump’s or East Germany’s walls. I see holding Gaza as an open air prison camp with no supplies allowed in for improvements about the same as any other concentration camp.

Well, yes, that would work in the fashion of “not too much draw to make it useful”.

The problem is more that the cable modem and the DSL modem have to be in different places because there’s no phone jack whatsoever anywhere close to the cable modem, nor a cable stud anywhere close to the phone jack the DSL uses.

And neither is in a convenient place to have your computer set up if you’re staying online in a power failure, though since most of ours are laptops, they can spend some time not plugged into a live circuit.

I hate some of the things the IDF has done. Destroying houses is wrong. I can’t forgive them for some of their actions. But I also have strong feeling against parents who send their kids to terror training camps.

I think the wall is more complicated. At the time, there were a lot of terrorist bombings that the Palestinians had no interest in stopping. On a weekly basis several suicide bombers walked into crowded cafe and blew themselves up. This was an organized effort.

Gaza is run by Hamas. they won an election and run it like a terrorist training camp. That’s on them.

Until the Arab world puts pressure on the Palestinians there will be no peace.

Oh, I shut down ALL of my computers if the power is off more than 5-10 minutes. Then the only things left to draw off the ups/battery backup are the phone and the modem, and I switch over to my Kindle or one of the fully charged laptops. This way the backup lasts for almost 2 hours.

Indian vegan dishes are actually about the only vegan dishes I will eat. I adore a good paneer, and I won’t eat samosas unless they’re chickpeas and potatoes.

Since MrBWS had his heart attack and emergency bypass surgery, we (meaning ME) have been watching our cholesterol. Normally we eat a lot of salmon and chicken, and beef is something I personally avoid eating more than once a week because of gastrointestinal issues that inevitably ensue if consumed more often.

Some of our favorite weekly dishes are vegan without actually meaning to be: Greek salad, curried veg (black beans, chickpeas and spinach), broccoli slaw, spicy black bean burgers

The term “Becky” is actually older than BBQ Becky.

It means a white girl who loves Starbucks and Uggs and is clueless about racial and social issues. Beyoncé used the term in 2016 in the song “Sorry”, on her album Lemonade. I first heard it used this way…ABL used it a lot back in the day.

According to Urban Dictionary, “Karen” is a mother of three. blonde. owns a volvo. annoying as hell. wears acrylics 24/7. currently at your workplace speaking to your manager.

There was also Becky With The Bad Grades, aka Abigail Fisher, who tried to get my alma mater’s affirmative action overturned at the Supreme Court. That’s because this Becky was too pure to do a couple of semesters at junior college and back door her way into UT Austin. Like I did, 40 years ago. (Seriously, that’s what UT Austin told her to do.)

Obscurity is a relative term. In 1979, there were still 3500/million girls born.

Peaked in 1957, the year of my birth, when my name, Douglas, also peaked.

My first name seems to have peaked in the 1920’s, and has been on steady decline since. And I was born in 1961.

As I’ve recalled here a few times, I went to one of Trump’s first rallies in Derry, NH in 2015 on a lark. I predicted that he could probably win based on the parking lot—no economic anxiety, it was filled with the SUVs of bankers and real estate agents (by my guess, because i have no fucking idea how people here get so rich with so little industry). Tonight’s rally in Manchester? I don’t know and don’t care. I stayed far away. But the Trump signs are already coming out in the predictable places. I give him a good chance of repeating even if the economy tanks. It’s a cult. For sure.

An acquaintance of mine, Steven Hassan, who runs the Freedom of Mind center, is a cult expert and author of the BITE Model of cult recruiting, has a new book coming out in October from Simon & Schuster:

[Embedded content]

The BITE Model of cult recruiting is really useful because it relies on *actions* not beliefs, to discern whether an organization is cultic. I have it on poster boards which I tape to my car when I protest. My pet cult can’t complain when I call thrm out for black and white thinking, because their own words demonstrate it. (Example: There’s never a reason for an abortion. NEVER.)

This is going to attract a lot of attention and I think the book is really necessary right now.

Wow, you know him? That is very cool. His first book, Combating Cult Mind Control was excellent. Explained the Moonies really well, as he was a member. Kudos!!

The storm traveled through downtown Scottsbluff at about 3:34 p.m. on Thursday. Meteorologist Brandon Wills with the National Weather Service office in Cheyenne said it was only minutes before weather spotter reports started coming in.

“We had a severe thunderstorm warning out in time,” Wills said. “In the first five to 10 minutes, we had three reports of hail ranging from golf ball size to hen’s egg size, which is two inches, the next quarter-inch larger size.”

One spotter called in to report broken windows in the area.

On the Star-Herald Facebook page, residents were reporting broken windows and siding damage to homes throughout Scottsbluff, with reports on Highland Road, Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street. At Scottsbluff High School, several students had cars that were battered by the hail, with broken out windshields and rear windows.

There’s a southern corridor (drive State Highway 121 south of Manchester) that is extremely Trump. Apparently a lot of Massachusetts tax refugees. It’s the wealthiest section of the state after the lakes region, where most homeowners don’t actually live in NH. The funny thing is that old-timers blame the supposed Democratic shift in the state to “Massholes.” But the truth is that many old-timers are pragmatic and vote D when things get out of hand. (though that may be offset by the recent influx of Free State libertarians, but I don’t really know.)

Threatening economic collapse if he’s not reelected. Because, you know, this is the greatest economy in the history of America, but it requires the Fed to lower historically low interest rates, plus it’s slowing down, which has absolutely nothing to do with the trade war, because the Chinese are paying the tariffs, but we’re going to cancel them so they don’t ruin your Christmas with higher prices because actually you’re paying the tariffs, or you would be if we hadn’t canceled them and you should be grateful that we did because otherwise Christmas wouldn’t go so well because of the tariffs we decided to put on, even though China is totally paying for the tariffs now that they devalued their currency which will make our trade deficit even bigger and everyone will be buying Chinese goods but we’re WINNING! and the Great Patriot Farmers will be the big winners in all this if they don’t go bankrupt because we’re going to open up a market that was already open to them till we put tariffs on China and they retaliated and now they’re not buying any of our farm products but when we win the trade war China will be buying them, just like they were before we started this nonsense.

So I pointed out that the guy in LV who killed 58 people was a law abiding gun owner, and the guy in El Paso who killed 22 people was a law abiding gun owner, and the guy in Dayton who killed 9 people was a law abiding gun owner, and that what he’s actually saying is that he believes all those deaths and more besides are a fair trade so that he’s not inconvenienced when he wants to buy a gun.

Yeah I’m not saying he’s a bad guy but for too many of these types and one of my best friends is, they have no empathy for why we need to change these laws.

Travel costs are paid for in countries with single-payer healthcare.

They are paid for in this country if you have single-payer healthcare. The VA pays my costs every time I have an appointment. If I need a companion for some reason, they will also pay for my wife. They would pay for tolls if we had tolls in Nebraska. They will pay for meals if the appointment goes too long.

This should be the standard for everyone, not just people who tote guns around in the desert or sail on Haze Grey Cruise Line.

Steve Scalise didn’t.

And the issue of not retaining background checks after they are done? That’s so “the ebul gubmint can’t know if I have a gun.”

I didn’t think most real wingnut owners would send that information in; they’d sooner be on the hook for every repair than have even the manufacturer know who owns their machine now, I’d think?

Scottsbluff got pummelled pretty hard. It is the largest city in the Panhandle (which isn’t saying much for people who live in cities like Philadelphia or Chicago, but it’s our big city). /s

The radar is clear here now, with the tornadic storm near Sterling, Colo. collapsing and passing south of the city. There are a couple minor thunderstorms ESE of Denver.

To our SE, North Platte radar shows a large thunderstorm about to enter the main part of Nebraska from Colorado. Otherwise it’s looking to be a quiet night now.

Think of all those families where one child or toddler shoots themselves or another child or a parent — their universal reaction seems to be that this was an act of god and nothing could be done about. These people really don’t care if others are killed, even those near and dear to them, if it might mean there is any limitation on their rights to accumulate as much weaponry and ammunition as they desire.

Well, this is an interesting piece of corruption, not related to the Dumpster fire in the White House.

A DOJ employee is accused of helping her son and the Bloods intimidate informants (CNN)

The Department of Justice says one of its own “repeatedly” helped the Bloods street gang protect its interests by identifying and exposing informants and cooperating witnesses.

Tawanna Hilliard works in an administrative role for the US Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, court documents say. According to the US Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, over a period of more than two years, Hilliard used her access to information to help her son Tyquan Hilliard, 28, and his gang, the 5-9 Brims set of the Bloods.

Authorities have charged the Hilliards with six felony counts: witness tampering and harassment, obstruction of justice and conspiracy to tamper with a witness. Each carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence.

Tawanna Hilliard is also charged with illegally obtaining information from a protected government computer.

(more at the link)

She is out on $75,000 bail.

Lemme guess, the faked marriage certificate which floats around on-line, along with “because so-and-so said so.”

My wife really had her eyes opened about Libertarians (large L) and the endemic racism in their party. In 2016 she’d had enough and switched to the Democratic Party.

Since then she occasionally gets requests from the Colorado Libertarian Party trying to entice her back. I don’t see her doing that.
