We should be less concerned about the site and the outrageous content than about the culture of people who take that content seriously as if it represented real news.

And the culture of those who know better but still use the site as a platform to manipulate others, troll or simply gain attention.

Because we have seen that no claims, however idiotic, contradictory or unfounded, will be rejected if they constitute a criticism of the powers-that-be.

The Atlantic basin has been exceptionally quiet this year as far as Hurricane season goes. Be interesting to see how the next month or so shakes out.

We should be concerned about the Qultists (or Q-cumbers if you like) because there’s a potential for some of that particular audience to commit acts of domestic terrorism.

They’re a powder keg in search of a spark.

I wonder how they’ll react if/when Trump loses the election next year?

I remember back in the late 50s/early 60s when the Birchers would use mimeograph machines to pass their insanity around. Back then it was just limited to posts on telephone poles or distributed by the Young Americans for FreeDUMB chapter in my high school. They would talk about “Operation 60” where Ike was going to surrender to the USSR. Then it became “Operation 66”, “Operation 76”, etc.

They said that the real government of the US was the Council of Foreign Relations, but then they got a new bogeyman when David Rockefeller set up the Trilateral Commission. Carter was painted by them as a Rockefeller Puppet and even Penthouse Magazine fell for that scam.

Now with the Internet these kooks have a megaphone that Joseph Welch and Old Man Koch (founders of the JBS) could never conceive. Any kook can say whatever they want and thousands will amplify their insane ramblings!

WHEW, for all you Christian heterosexual mommies and daddies out there, you need to just breathe a sigh of relief and say a “thank you” prayer to your lucky Ted Nugent Jesus painting, because Phil Vischer, the co-creator of “Veggie Tales,” has confirmed in an interview with the Christian Post that the official Vegetables of Christ will not be doing gay butt stuff like all the other kiddie TV shows are also not doing.

However, he warns that the Jesus shows for kids are gonna have to start telling kids gays are gross at some point, because all the godless kiddie shows are saying gays are awesome. You know, like that program from the devil’s workshop “Arthur”:

SILVER SPRING, Md. (ABC7) - Just one day before Journey was supposed to be euthanized, she was saved.

Now, she will live the rest of her days at Sunrise Chevy Chase in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Knine Rescue says “it’s like she was meant to be here her whole life.”

From looking at her, you would never know that Journey spent her entire life locked inside of a cage. Amy Creel, Board Member at Knine Rescue explained “She never really got out. It’s a very sad existence.”

Shortly after her owner died, she was sent to an overcrowded shelter in Virginia and because of her age - scheduled to be euthanized.

Knine Rescue was on their regular mission to save and rescue. That day they were rescuing 19 dogs.

“Literally, when the transport pulled up, the transport that we had arranged to pick up this other dog,” said Creel. “I get a call and they said is there anyway you can take a second dog? I thought, we have no where to put her.”

Knine rescue made room for Journey, not knowing exactly where she would fit in.

“It’s just amazing that this dog that no one had ever cared for was now going to be cared for by a whole community” said Creel.

Also, McSally is, we recall, only in the Senate due to appointee-politics after John McCain died: Kirsten Sinema beat her in the 2018 general (for Flake’s seat), and Martha got the other AZ seat as a consolation prize.

Not sure how attractive a candidate Mark Kelly will ultimately turn out to be: - and of course, the bigoted geezer retiree vote is big in Arizona; but yeah: this is a positive.

Former PM Renzi is trying to arrange a coalition with the 5-Star Movement. If he can pull that off, it would prevent a general election in Italy - an election that Salvini’s Lega would likely win in a landslide.

I hope Renzi can pull it off; it would block Salvini from becoming PM.

“a lot of the things we talk about have to do with Russia,” he said, remembering how much he dislikes relaying all the bad stuff to Putin. It would be so much easier if Vlad and his spies were there to hear the security stuff for themselves, he thought, but before he could say it, Attorney General Barr flashed something bright and shiny at him and he lost his train of thought.

Holy shitfuck, Batman: Defendant charged in Bloomington mosque bombing challenges hate-crime law as unconstitutional

A federal magistrate judge managing the prosecution of a man suspected of firebombing a Bloomington mosque in 2017 is weighing a constitutional challenge to the laws under which the suspect was charged.

Reynaldo Aligada Jr. and Shannon Elkins initiated the challenge in pretrial filings last month when they argued that four of the five federal charges against their client, Michael Hari, should be dismissed.

The crux of their argument was that Congress exceeded its authority under the Commerce Clause of the U.S. Constitution when it passed and modified laws that make it a federal crime to damage real property because of the religious nature of that property, or to forcibly obstruct the free exercise of religion.

Two other charges — conspiracy to commit federal felonies with fire or explosives, and carrying or using a destructive device related to crimes of violence — also should be dropped, Hari’s attorneys argue, because those alleged crimes are predicated on the statutes that they contend are unconstitutional.

Federal attorneys replied early this month that laws under which Hari was charged are without merit and have successfully withstood challenges in other jurisdictions.

Destroying property is illegal as hell, adding extra time for do it to intimidate or interfere with free exercise of speech or religion is icing on the cake, but they seem to want to drop all charges.

That is some over-the-top reasoning

A vegan accused a meat-eater of appropriating veganism by enjoying tofu and got entirely the responses you’d expec

I really do not understand the over-reaction people have to vegans and veganism. Food choices are food choices. I met my first vegans back in the 90’s and was a bit nonplussed at first, but if you don’t want to eat animals or force them to produce food for you, then what is the big deal?

I think this goes back to a basic stage of arrested development in which we are still much too fixated on orifices, what goes in them and what comes out of them.

I worked with a person who was would agree with this challenge. His form of Rand-worship make Rand sound like a piker. He’s the type of person who wrapped his federal PIV ID card in aluminum foil because it contains an RFID chip and he didn’t want people being able to scan his data on the Metro. It wasn’t a spoof or mockery of idjits, either. He believes.

The 2011 payroll tax cut applied only to the employees, and unlike other tax cuts, it’s not regressive. However it does contribute to the budget deficit and affects the long term health of Social Security, unless there is a counterbalancing tax increase in the future. OTOH, if the reduction in longevity is a trend that continues, the Social Security fund may have sufficient money for its beneficiaries. :-(

So the new CNN poll for the Dem Primary basically has minimal movement for everyone except Kamala Harris, who crashed by -12% apparently.

In other words, the “KAMALA IS A COP!” bullshit and Tulsi truly fucking did their job and utterly buried her in bullshit she may never recover from. This maybe wouldn’t piss me off and depress me so much if I didn’t know this is the exact fucking playbook that they’ll destroy any Dem nominee, especially the Bern or Busters if their sainted god doesn’t get installed.

And I fully expect them to do the same thing to bury Warren at this point and it’ll probably fucking work too, because everything fucking sucks.

Depends on what you mean by “conservatives.” It’s been a while since I ran in those circles, but the feeling I get is that anybody who is left at this point is going down with the ship. The folks who realized what he is, they’ve all pretty much already left the party.

This is what lawyers are paid to do. And you might even find a judge who goes along with it, like judge James Dennis did last year in striking down the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978. The 5th Circuit did not agree with that judge and said last week the law was constitutional.
