Hi. We’re back from Colorado.
After the Mercedes-Benz dealer did a $500 walletectomy for car repairs after the hailstorm (and ordered another $1,100 worth of parts for a second round), we went to Colorado Springs to visit for a couple days with a friend of my wife.
We got home very late last night.
Today, we had to go to the store, but US-26 is torn up for construction between Lisco and Bridgeport and down to one lane (a distance of about thirty miles, which means long waits for the pilot car).
We decided instead to take the back road to Oshkosh (thirteen cattle guards over sand roads in Garden County) to go to the superette there.
My wife is now making Cincinnati chili (I misspelt the city, and spell check offered “incineration” for the correction).
Seriously, that was the most batshit crazy thing I’ve seen the president* of the United States say. OUR MILITARY IS OUT OF BULLETS would land any other president in prison.

No kidding. It’s not like the DOD doesn’t keep track of how much ammunition it has.
There was something that came up a while ago about the DOD saying it didn’t have a full stock of bombs for the Air Force and Navy, but that has been corrected.
If the military was low on ammunition, the DOD would be all over Capitol Hill raising a stink about funding for more. “Ammunition” refers to small arms, not things like artillery ordinance or rockets or whatnot.

Another KY School Found a Clever Way to Get Around the “In God We Trust” Law (Goes to Hemant Mehta’s Friendly Atheist blog).
First there was a school district which distributed blown-up images of the back of a one dollar bill.
Then there was a school (named Lincoln) which posted an oversize image of the obverse of a Lincoln cent (which contains the phrase).
Now another school has posted a poster with a short history of the phrase “In God We Trust” as used on coinage and currency. Since that phrase appears on the poster, it complies with the law.
It would seem Kentucky school districts are tired of the GOP’s false piety in answer to school shootings.

To all who have been following the video posted of not allowing biracial marriages in our business please read the content of this message it is very important… as a child growing up in Mississippi our racial boundaries that were unstated were that of staying with your own race. This was never verbally spoke, but it was understood in order to preserve the white identity. On Saturday my husband asked me to show him in the Bible where it was located as to the content concerning biracial relationships. I studied for a minute and began to think about the history of my learning this and where it came from. I was unable to recall instances where the Bible was used giving a verse that would support my decision… after searching Saturday evening, Saturday night, most of the day Sunday and sitting down with my pastor Sunday night after church I have come to the conclusion my decision which was based on white preservation subliminally taught by my elders. Here in the land of sandhills, the weather radio just noted in our climate summary that we are about 4” above average for rainfall on the year (normal is 16”, we’re at 20”).
Despite that, the North Platte River continues to fall after record snowfall in Wyoming last winter, which caused Wyoming to open its dams and flood us downstream here. We are now well below flood stage, and the Beerline Irrigation Canal here in town has fallen to normal levels (last month it was only a couple inches from overflowing and flooding every house on this street).
Republicans abdicated their constitutional duties a longggggg time back.They like fascism. Why does media dance around this?

It would seem most liberals would view violence as a failure of the political system, not as a fear of self-protection or firearms.
As far as a general strike goes, I imagine if one of sufficient size and effect on the economy could be organised, I would imagine big businesses and Wall Street would be putting a whole lot of pressure on their bought-and-paid for Republican politicians to cave to end that (as it cuts into profits).

National polls came to the same conclusion that voters did - they favored Clinton and she won the popular vote by nearly 3+ million.
The problem is the distribution of those votes. It fell to a handful of voters in a handful of states, and that distribution meant Trump winning where it counted - the EC.
That’s why national polls are good at sentiment broadly, but those who want to know if Trump is in trouble need to focus at state level polls to see which ones are trending which way.
This isn’t rocket science. It’s how the US electoral system works (or doesn’t). Trump lies incessantly about this because he knows most people only recall the outcome, not how the votes distributed nationally, or that the polls were really spot on.

If there is an explosion or monster that looks like I rendered it on my home PC in an afternoon I just can’t get past it. I would rather they just film it in a way that leaves it to your imagination.

The visual effects haven’t aged well, but IMHO it remains outstanding in terms of writing, themes, overall story from start to end (even the weakest “event/monster of the week” episodes tie into the overall story and greater plotlines), acting and character development.

How were the residents able to avoid being shot if the robbers confronted them and fired first? It’s possible of course that they just ran and the bandits missed but it’s something that needs to be determined.
How was one of them able to get his rifle and shoot the three while they remained in the yard? It might have been leaning against the front door for all we know, but this is something we need to find out.
Was it really an “assault weapon,” as described by a neighbor who witnessed the incident? Any scary looking black gun is an “assault weapon” to a lot of people Police have yet to specifically identify the weapon.
Of course ammosexuals will betray their limited intelligence by trumpeting this incident from the mountain-tops, as proof that “assault weapons,” semi-auto rifles with large mags, are somehow essential for self defense. If you really have to use deadly force, you will use whatever weapons come to hand. That might be a rock, a club, or an AR-15 if you have one. I really think the ammosexual idea of “self defense” involves shooting at greater ranges than a shotgun could manage, and at a lot more targets than you could hit with 5 or 6 rounds before a prolonged reloading process. This matches the idea of shooting into a mob of “others” marching down the road to loot suburbia “when the welfare checks stop.”
