Also, a fucking pipeline was attacked.

Except they pay cash and it is going to be our blood that is spilled (our as in American soldiers).

As for Lewandowski, fuck him. He is going to lie and lie and lie and absolutely nothing will happen to him. Until Congress starts to jail these liars, it is just another nothing.

And how does that happen? Does the House have any inherent authority to imprison someone for contempt without the cooperation of the DOJ?

54
Disloyal Archangel  Sep 17, 2019 • 12:04:07pm

Early Israeli election reports are in - Blue and White is leading with 1/2 of 120 parliamentary seats over Likud;
Secular-Right Yisrael Beitenu, headed by Avigdor Lieberman, a former Bibi ally turned biggest enemy of the rest of the right and supreme enemy of the ultra-orthodox parties, has become the power figure, with an estimated 9-10 seats.
Far-right Otzma Yehudit did NOT make it: loss of 2-3 parliamentary seats for the Israeli right.

BOOM -
Multiple samples by the leading channels here - Netanyahu at this time does NOT HAVE ENOUGH PARLIAMENTARY SEATS FOR A COALITION GOVERNMENT.

The Supreme Court has ruled that Congress has some authority to put people in jail in order to do their jobs, but, considering it’s not something they have set up, like the executive does, it’s harder to apply.

Early reports aren’t worth the pixels that display them. Rather like political polls a year in advance of an election — or even polls a month in advance.

58
Disloyal Archangel  Sep 17, 2019 • 12:09:44pm

re: #57 Hecuba’s daughter

Early reports aren’t worth the pixels that display them. Rather like political polls a year in advance of an election — or even polls a month in advance.

Here they are rather accurate when it comes to the smaller parties, which is a big deal.
Otzma Yehudit’s defeat is certain - they don’t have a snowflake’s chance in hell as it stands - and that’s a massive blow to the Israeli right. As is the rise of Avigdor Lieberman, who will have at least 8 seats (Likud wanted them wiped out - not the case).

Edit: The samples have never been off by more than one or two seats (which can be a big deal, but less in the 21st century compared to up to the 1990s). Netanyahu desperately needed at least 35/120 and was aiming for 40/120. It’s not gonna happen and it isn’t even close.
Another point: There was legitimate concern among the Israeli left that two prominent parties - the labor and the new Democratic Party - might not pass the threshold and as many as 8/120 seats might be lost to the right.
They’ve passed with certainty, and have between 5-7 seats out of 120, each.
These figures will NOT get lower.
This is a Netanyahu NIGHTMARE no matter what.

Further Israeli Election update analysis:
At this point, the Israeli political left/right bloc results are apparently rather consistent, as follows:
The Israeli left +Arab parties are sitting on about as many parliamentary seats as the
Israeli right +Ultra Orthodox parties, wavering between 55-57, and with ZERO chance of either having 58, let alone 61 out of 120 (the magic number necessary to have a working coalition).
In the middle stands Avigdor Lieberman with 8-10 out of 120 parliamentary seats, more than he had in the April elections.
The party seat figures will change, but the blocs will at best fluctuate by one seat in either direction. Not enough to make a difference.

Lieberman, the new secular kingmaker, was fine with unity governments in the past; has been VERY vocal that he will NEVER again sit in a coalition government with the Ultra Orthodox parties, who went above and beyond to do all but physically hurt him this year, nor with a Likud under King Bibi, a former best friend for decades who betrayed Lieberman and was out for his blood the past half year in the worst way possible.
That faint sound you hear in the distance? That’ll be Netanyahu at his residence, going insane, screaming and breaking every piece of furniture within sight…

Of course. What is the yam administration going to do, punish automakers for making too fuel efficient cars? Of course, any strategic planner is going to figure that there’s a pretty huge chance the flying monkey administration goes away in a year or so and sanity returns, plus the rest of the world isn’t going along, so why go out of your way to design a uniquely fuel inefficient line for one market that’s likely to be illegal again in no time?

The standards are based on averages. So auto makers wouldn’t have to go out of their way to make less efficient cars, they could just make and push more of the high profit trucks and SUVs.

The Likud’s election “note” featured the letters מחל - one letter short of an actual word; seems Google Translate wants to fill in the gap to bring it to the rather appropriate meaning …

So basically, the Saudi oil attack was an escalated version of those inane “mine attacks” on the tankers in the Gulf (y’know, the bombs that so carefully blew holes only where they would do the least amount of damage)?

i think it opens the rabbit hole

if he answers yes, then i want to see a contract
and i want to know who is paying for it

- though i dont think the ‘white house counsel’ is actually allowed to have private clients
- or whether even the individual who is the white house counsel is allowed to have clients while on the job

and that’s where this ought to go

by what possible standing does the white house counsel advise a private citizen who was never in the admin

Oklahoma teen accused of threatening school shooting, wanting to shoot ‘400 people for fun’

An 18-year-old Oklahoma woman was arrested Monday with an AK-47 after she allegedly threatened to shoot “400 people for fun,” including some at her former high school, officials said.

Alexis Wilson told her coworker at a pizza restaurant Monday that she had purchased the semi-automatic AK-47, according to a report from the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office.

Two coworkers reported to authorities that Wilson showed off pictures of her holding the rifle and said there were people at her old school, McAlester High School, that she would like to gun down.

A few people have pointed out that (at least prior to Trump) for Republicans it’s always 1979, being that pretty much every policy they propose is the same policies they’ve been proposing my entire life.

I’m beginning to think that the same holds true for Democratic leadership in DC. It may always be 1995 for a lot of them, instead of 1979, but they don’t seem to understand just how much things have changed around them.

They need to set up a white-board-walled sandbox to unsilo and think outside the box while inside the box to solve this non-problem.

I don’t want the attendees to yell “go home” as much as I want Brian Seltzer to understand how his milquetoast analysis has lead to this open contempt. If he had been a fearless investigator of how the right has gamed the refs and the system he would never had been on that stage with people like MM to begin with.

Not to worry, by week’s end, Graham will have totally reversed himself and be issuing words of praise for Donny’s “strength” in not launching an attack on Iran for the high crime…of defending their airspace.

re: #148 Citizen K

The sideshow benefits the GOP, because of course it will. They’re derailing the process and whatever happens, they know it’ll simply be characterized as Dems not having control of everything. It’s in the GOP’s favor to make as much chaos in these kinds of things as possible, and apparently Nadler really doesn’t have any actual fucking control of anything anyhow.

It’s only Tuesday and the week feels like it’s lasted for 3 years.

Or, we could all go out and talk about how the GOP is willing to destroy Democracy and the only thing they are missing are canes to beat other Reps.

I thought he won — even though his party isn’t in the majority.

Looks like a tossup between Likud and the Blue and White party for who has the most seats, but it looks like neither will be able to form 61 seat coalition. Lieberman could be the king maker and he says what he wants is a unity government with both Likud and Blue and White. Which could be complicated because Gantz from the Blue and White said he wont join a government with Likud if Netanyahu is indicted.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu may be losing the election, badly.

Someone on Daily Kos argued that, rather than the rise of fascists everywhere, we could be seeing the last gasps of this time period’s old guard clinging to power. They used Italy as an example, and Netanyahu losing would add to that. It won’t be easy to bring them all down, but it’s not impossible. I’ll try to find the article.

Why the young lead? They haven’t compromised their principles yet with car payments, children, and a mortgage that makes it harder to speak to power. By the time the rest of us have done that, it actually becomes harder to even decide if a person without your burdens should make a statement like that.

re: #73 Disloyal Archangel

In the middle stands Avigdor Lieberman with 8-10 out of 120 parliamentary seats, more than he had in the April elections.

[…]

Lieberman, the new secular kingmaker, was fine with unity governments in the past; has been VERY vocal that he will NEVER again sit in a coalition government with the Ultra Orthodox parties,

But will he sit with Arab parties?
