Just got a call from my wife on her way home from work:

W: I’m stopping by the store, do you need anything for dinner?

Me: No, I’m just making a basic simple hamburger and french fries meal tonight; I’m sorry.

W: Don’t apologize!

Me: Ok, I’m sorry for apologizing.

The fact that an executive power fanatic like Barr is trying to distance himself from the Ukraine scheme should tell you how bad and indefensible it is.
[Embedded content]

I’ve been wondering that if Trump wanted dirt on Biden, why didn’t he just ask Barr? He was right there! What Barr was asked and what he replied would be very interesting.

Although, the way Trump’s WH works, it wouldn’t be out of the question that Trump told Pence or Pompeo to do it, and they said to themselves “Discuss a crime with the US AG? I’m not doing that.” There’s precedent for Administration officials to just ignore Trump’s orders.

Klein is warning that the GOP will ignore the rule of law, actual facts and logic, and will push to impeach any Democrat no matter what.

Guess what, we’ve already seen this in action. McConnell blocked Obama judicial nominations including Garland for the Supreme Court. McConnell and other GOPers warning that they’d refuse to act on Clinton judicial picks, even had she won the Electoral College.

Everything the GOP does is about accumulating power and destroying what power their rivals have. It’s a zero sum game to them, and Trump is the epitome of this. The GOP is Trump, and the GOP continues defending him.

Meanwhile, national papers are starting to call for his resignation - Boston Globe.

Why the fuck is CNN trying to claim that Ivanka is a diplomat, and giving her a glamour shot too?

She’s a nepotism pick who uses her position as Trump’s daughter to expand her business opportunities and enrich herself at our expense. Every other diplomat and world leader knows she has no business being anywhere near anything of import, and the G-7 reaction to her presence makes that explicit.

She’s complicit in Trumpworld crimes. Full stop.

I don’t know which ones, but I’ll post them later when I find out. I asked if we could listen on the way home and he said “well, most of them are avant-garde so you wouldn’t like them, but this Coltrane CD is accessible.” Then he put it in the player and I took the long way home. From the WaPo linked article:

“This has nothing to do with who is in the White House,” said a senior State Department official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about an ongoing probe. “This is about the time it took to go through millions of emails, which is about 3½ years.”

Yeah, sure, of course: an investigation completely unrelated to the campaign of 2016: just a coincidence of timing….

State Department officials vigorously denied there was any political motivation behind their actions, and said that the reviews of retroactively classified emails were conducted by career bureaucrats who did not know the names of the subjects being investigated.

“The process is set up in a manner to completely avoid any appearance of political bias,” said a second senior State Department official, who was speaking on condition of anonymity to describe the mechanics of an internal probe.

I’d want to be anonymous, too, having to spout this bullshit to a reporter: but SRSLY? THIS is the Admin’s attempt to deflect attention away from its own flagrant criminality? Hillary’s emails?? Fucking AGAIN??

But I’m sure Sean Hannity and the rest of the RW media pinheads will be quite diligent in keeping this vital and scandalous issue in the forefront of public discussion…

Just enjoyed a lovely piece of peanut butter cream pie with major meringue topping. Pippi, tuxedo cat, sat next to me drooling, so I offered a small bit of meringue. She thought that was the bee’s knees, so had a couple more, leaning more heavily. Made me drop a small bit of the cream filling onto my shoe. I held it up to her, and she enjoyed that, too. I figured she’d had enough sugar, so I finished it, much to her regret.

Now I’m off to hear “my” sons’ band play over on the river. Keep the rain away until after they are able to break down!

Get even? He’ll never get even for that.

9/11 was a moment where he showed leadership. All the rest of it? We have to ignore a long history of racism, bigotry, and even the attempt to cancel elections in NYC to remain in office (primary election was being held on 9/11 itself). We’d have to forget Abner Louima and broken windows policies that disproportionately hit minority communities hard, and let white collar criminals run rampant.

Trump gave his version of events to U.S. diplomats during a closed-door meeting this week in New York. In the meeting, Trump went after Joe Biden and then claimed that Hunter Biden coerced the Chinese government to contribute $1.5 billion to an investment fund. His alleged conversation with Schwarzman was brought up in the process.

“I was with the head of Blackstone, which is the big deal,” Trump said. “Steve, is that possible?” Trump recalled asking Schwarzman. Schwarzman supposedly replied, “Maybe I shouldn’t get involved, you know it’s very political.”

In a statement to Bloomberg, Jennifer Friedman, Schwarzman’s spokeswoman, said that conversation never took place.

“Steve was never asked by anyone, and has never had, conversations with the Chinese about Joe Biden or his family,” she said.

I’m thinking maybe they want to go back to 18th century suffrage, where you could vote only if you’re a land-owning white man, they’re that regressive.

just pathetic

So this is Trump’s opening counter-impeachment pushback against the increasingly-documented charges of corruption, extortion, cover-up, etc.? Send Rudy Giuliani - Rudy Fucking Giuliani - out to tweetstorm bullshit deflection garbage (mixed with insults) about how Obama, Clinton, Biden et. al. are the “REAL” criminals? And how the completely innocent public-spirited Donald Trump is being so horrifically unfairly railroaded?

“Pathetic” falls short as a descriptor.

Get even? He’ll never get even for that.

9/11 was a moment where he showed leadership. All the rest of it? We have to ignore a long history of racism, bigotry, and even the attempt to cancel elections in NYC to remain in office …

That said, no one ever thought he was stupid. Now? I posted a page on a Vanity Fair article on how Ukrainian conmen played him as he was scouring the country looking for dirt: “once a certain sort of Ukrainian player saw his intense hunger, a panoply of sources seemed to arise to satisfy it.” The dirt kept on not being delivered, but that didn’t stop Giuliani from allowing himself to be strung along by these players. How does a former US Attorney for SDNY allow this to happen?

We’re lucky it did, though, because apparently it was Trump’s frustration at not seeing anything from Ukraine that led him to try and strong-arm the Ukrainian President.

Even if they do revert to feudalism, it would only be fair for votes to be apportioned by value. In turn, they have to consider that some holdings are worth a lot more than others. A square block in Manhattan or LA can be worth more than whole counties out in the howling wilderness.

Hell, just in Colorado, a square block in downtown Aspen is worth more than the ranch land in all of Moffat County (4,700 sq. miles).

The trailer photo is in front of the BPOE Eagles club a couple blocks away. The statue was mobbed, since the Winslow Standing on a Corner Festival starts today. We’re 30 miles beyond at Meteor Crater. Wonderful campground, 19th century wifi.

The day before Mother’s Day last year, I stepped down from about a one foot step in my back yard, came down on my leg wrong, rolled my ankle hard enough that I heard a pop, managing to break the tip of my fibula. This afternoon, I was walking into Target and saw a woman in a medical boot and asked her what she did. She stepped out of a bus, came down on her leg wrong, heard the pop, and managed to break the tip of her fibula. Unlike me, though, she went three days on it before realizing it was much worse than a sprained ankle and got it seen about; the stabbing pain by then gave it away.
