The Daily Beast reported on Wednesday that Barr and Durham met Italian agents at the US embassy in Rome, where they were shown evidence that Italy had on Mifsud, including a tape he handed over to the authorities when he applied for police protection after disappearing in October 2017. On the tape, he reportedly explained why he might be in danger.

The Italian justice ministry’s public records show that Mifsud had applied for police protection in Italy after disappearing from Link University, where he worked and, in doing so, had given a taped deposition to explain just why people might want to harm him.
A source in the Italian Ministry of Justice, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told The Daily Beast that Barr and Durham were played the tape.
In addition Marcy Wheeler compiled all the coverage of Barr going to Italy to listen to the deposition, which Mifsud reportedly handed to the Italians when he applied for asylum.
Yesterday, the Daily Beast provided details about what Bill Barr was doing in Italy on the trip to dig up dirt first confirmed by the WaPo. According to DB, Barr and John Durham went to Italy on short notice (that is, even as the Ukraine scandal he is personally implicated in was breaking) to watch a videotaped deposition by Joseph Mifsud.
Marcy also goes back and establishes the initial impetus for Barr’s and Durham’s trip:
The Attorney General’s voyage to Italy got set in motion last fall when Ross published two stories relying on Mifsud’s “attorney” Stephen Roh (who himself has close ties to Russia). The first, dated September 10, reported that Mifsud was alive and well hiding in Italy. The second, published October 24, was explicitly a set-up for George Papadopoulos’ testimony before the joint OGR/HJC investigation into the Russian investigation. It included comments from Roh alleging that Mifsud was not a Russian asset, but was instead a Western one.

I think Trump doesn’t know a damn thing about what the President does. He’s watched some movies and all that. It’s to me telling that the two people who sparked his run were a black guy (Obama) and a woman (Clinton), I think he really looked at both of them and thought “I could do it better because I’m a white guy.” He’s always been an obnoxious prick but he never seriously talked about running for President until after Obama and HRC proved that non whites and men were viable. His entire political career and support base is pretty much angry white dudes who thought anyone could do it better than Obama or Clinton.

Do you have a link to the source for this? Just about everything I am finding has the same vague report. He was shot in a parking garage at an apartment complex, not the same one where Botham Jean was shot at, but none of them specify he lived there, he might it has been more than a year, he may have moved. No one seems to have seen it, they just heard shots and then saw the car speeding out of the garage.

This article says what I said here a couple of days ago. SCOTUS is going to make abortion illegal in much of the country, without even reversing Roe, but rather eviscerating it.
And, to be blunt about it, making abortion illegal doesn’t mean that abortion will stop. All it means is that legal abortions in states like California and New York will become harder to get and women will turn to potentially dangerous underground sources of abortion, just as happened prior to Roe v. Wade. What saved the US from a massive number of deaths in those years was the availability of antibiotics. Now that antibiotics are becoming less useful, it’s entirely possible women will die.
If you want a preview for what it will be like, just go to Brazil or Argentina, where there are medical wards filled with women who attempted abortions and it turned dangerously bad. Women don’t stop getting abortions because it’s illegal or nearly so. The financial and social pressures that push abortion are still there.
The abortion pill may alleviate some of the danger, but it is concerning that women may be taking it without medical supervision, because it doesn’t always work.
We’re in for bad times, folks.

That’s actually an interesting thought. So far as I know, there are no extended examinations of more modern scriptures (such as the Book of Mormon* and the Urantia Book) as products of their time. For the latter, I remember Martin Gardner wrote a skeptical takedown of the whole Urantia movement. He pointed out that the writings in the Urantia Book were not awfully revelatory but situated completely within the upper middle class milieu of the people who were the recipients of the Urantia Papers. One could probably do the same with other, more modern, channeled material and come to similar conclusions-very human documents, written within their times as an attempt to explain the essentially unexplainable.
*Yes, I am very aware that the Mormon church sees this as an ancient document. There is no evidence for same.

Media outlets need to stop with the magic balance fairy both sides bulkshit. Trump is a corrupt criminal whose statements are all deflections, obfuscations, and lies about Trump’s criminal conduct. He wants to go after Biden claiming Biden did all the things Trump has actually done (and is still doing). Trump wants to smear Hunter Biden, when his own kids are enriching themselves precisely because they’re working for the administration and using the levers and power of government to direct taxpayer funds and activities at their businesses. It’s not just the golf business every fucking weekend. It’s the Scotland golf resort and USAF sorties that have to overnight at a Trump hotel despite not being the closest or cheapest stay near the airport.
It’s Pence staying at a Trump business 100s of miles from where he was supposed to meet with govt officials. It’s all the foreign countries and lobbyists knowing that the quickest route to Trump access and him doing what they want is to stay at a Trump business or to give Trumpworld benefits they would never ordinarily ever get.
It’s a criminal conspiracy all the way down, and the GOP are complicit in all of this.

There was a series on NPR about the history of food that got in to the science of it. The way cooking unlocked the nutrients in rice was truly remarkable.

I’ve dealt with Calvinists who were in Mom’s Orthodox Presbyterian Church and they really are into the “TULIP” shit.
Calvinism can be summed up as “TULIP” with:

Unconditional Election—BUT, The Big G predestined a small elite to be saved. Everyone else goes to the BBQ joint for all eternity no matter how they live their lives. Do note the inconsistency with the first point

I’m sorry, but when you not only see retaliatory murders by the cops, but they come three days after conviction, that’s an announcement they’re nothing but another criminal syndicate.
