Tom Waits is on a pretty short list of people I would be truly star-struck if I met him. You’re right. He is an absolute treasure.
I remember, many years ago, trying to explain to my mom why anybody would want to listen to him. She just couldn’t get past the raspy voice (and she was never into music anyway, so I just let it go.)

Because even conservatives are starting to realize Trump will throw ANYONE under the bus to advance his own agenda, even his own advisers and supporters. You’ll always have the 30% or so of hardcores that won’t budge but I don’t think near 60% Impeachment support is an unrealistic goal.

How’d that work out for any of the people he prosecuted, using the same tools at the disposal of Congress, prosecutors in the SDNY, and others?

Warning of anecdotia: The Tom Wait’s song and conversation activated a memory of a friend telling me he went to an event in NYC with Tom and Rickie Lee Jones that was sort of half music and half interaction with the audience. He said it was quite pungent. And not booze. He said he could smell their body odor up into the 10th row where he was sitting.

I think they had to find each other to find their bottom. I love them both.

They had no problem with that back in the 1990s vs. Bill Clinton.

Even back then it was clear that for Republicans, impeachment and removal from office was only to be used by ‘good’ Republicans to remove ‘evil’ D presidents from office.

Obviously, every Republican that has obstructed based on the excuse of no full vote from the House will continue to obstruct after the full House vote with other excuses.

Time is thereby bought, and the mainstream media is likely to go along with this bullcrap.

So what, exactly, is ‘stupid’ about this GOP plan?

Edited to add: You just know the NYT and its co-conspirators will do endless ‘analysis’ of how this vote might hurt Democratic Representatives in swing districts.

what the house should do is a resolution in support of the existing inquiry.
they should restate that the committees had the full authority to launch the inquiries themselves.

dont give the r’s the chance to make any kind of asinine argument that the evidence and testimony already collected is in some bizarre way tainted.

they are trying to make this about process because the evidence is incontrovertible

Forgive me for going off-topic, but do you folks have any tips on tracking down details of a company, like finding the name of its owner, or CEO, or where it’s physically located?

I went online looking for Windows-compatible software with which I can read both .mobi and .epub files.

And it’s taken me down a rabbit hole, of sorts.

The first entry on google was for products offered by a company called Icecream Apps.

This is their website.

I’ve grown a little paranoid about free software — I have this image of bad actors in places like Russia and China (or anywhere for that matter) using free apps to worm their way in to my digital existence.

So I wanted to see if this outfit at least offers a semblance of legitimacy. But I can’t find out anything, except it is registered in Cyprus, which I think is where disreputable people like porn merchants register.

Icecream Apps Ltd
Agias Phylaxeos, 182, Kofteros Business Center, 201
3083, Limassol, Cyprus

I cannot find a single human name to go with this company. They do Facebook, but it’s just PR. Same with Twitter.

Is this typical?

Is there anyway a simpleton like me can dig deeper?

I picture outfits like this as a group of twentysomethings out to change the world with their killer apps — but if this is so, why is there not one name to go with the company?
