What the fuck is a wingnut doing talking about ‘duty of care to the commons’?

The only ‘duty’ right wingers are prepare to acknowledge is the duty to personally stuff themselves with as much ill-gotten gains as humanly possible, everyone else and most especially the commons be damned.

Just like Pig-Emperor Trump.

re: #146 Hecuba’s daughter

This may show that the Kentucky GOP legislature is not quite as corrupt as the GOP legislators in Washington, if the re-canvass holds up the Beshear victory. Let’s keep our fingers crossed on this.

Have to respectfully disagree, they’re every bit as corrupt as their buddies on Capital Hill. The difference is they got most of what they wanted on Tuesday (5 out of 6 races), and they can just change the rules to neuter Beshear like the WI GOP did when they lost the governor’s mansion. They’re not prepared to risk their own futures to steal an election for somebody who has stepped on every one of their toes.

They don’t even have to change the rules to neuter Beshear. The GOP has a supermajority in both the House and the Senate in the General Assembly, and it only takes a simple majority to override the Governor’s veto.

Sigh. You are right. After all the AG and SoS were Democrats who have now been replaced by Republicans. We have one chance to save our Republic in the 2020 election and I fear we will blow it.

I don’t think we will. The unusual circumstances which came together to allow Trump to get elected are unlikely to happen again, and Democrats are highly energized to get out and vote. I expect Trump to lose in a landslide, and if he refuses to leave office, we will march on Washington by the millions and force him out.

That was discussed earlier, Bloomberg’s policy sit in that “centrist” sweet spot that doesn’t really help him defeat Warren, but instead actually hurts the Biden and Buttigieg by drawing “centrist” votes from them.

Python allows you to type (a, b) = (b, a), but so many temporary variables get created that its better just to do it yourself if it’s in a computationally expensive part of code.

I can hear that - back when I did a fair bit of C it was best to do it that way. However, in lisp, by the time you get the homebrew macro made and expanded, it’s usually better to use a built in function if it exists even if, as in this case, it is a macro.

got to 91 here in Los Angeles.

91.

in November.

This is supposed to be the rainy season for us.

No rain.

Yet my family in PA said the arctic blast they’re getting is proof that there is no such thing as global warming…

Maybe some people should pause more to think about WHAT those soldiers sacrificed for.

There is no doubt about that - those soldiers were sacrificed to prove that Jesus loves white people more than others.

Spectrum continues to be an unreliable internet service. Goes down you can’t talk to a person without running an automated gauntlet.

That’s why we went with Spectrum Business at home. If anything goes wrong they are out there right away. BTW, to skip past the voice rigamarole when you call; once you state what service you are calling about, when asked the next question instead answer by saying “agent” clearly three times. You will be asked if you want to speak directly to a somewhat warm body who might be able help you, answer “yes’ and you’re welcome. ;)

re: #25 NO SMOCKING GUN!

I expect Trump to lose in a landslide, and if he refuses to leave office, we will march on Washington by the millions and force him out.

If Trump refuses to leave office upon losing the election, we will inaugurate a new President on January 20, 2021. If necessary, the Secret Service will physically remove him from the White House. The dangerous time will be the time between November 3, 2020 and January 20, 2021.

By “white people” I hope you mean blonde, Western European-identifying Southern accent people who reject any and all claim to Socialism prevalent in Scandinavian countries currently and most of the EU for that matter. And to further clarify, I hope you mean Protestant Fundamentalist adhering, Catholic suspecting, immigrant hating “normal” people that Jesus most likely closely resembled.

There. Fixed it for you.

Maybe by “white people” he means Caucasians.

Who, come to think of it, aren’t the people of the Caucasus these days mostly Chechen these days? and Muslim?

It’s practically standing still now they’ve dropped ropes out of the nose of the ship; and (uh) they’ve been taken ahold of down on the field by a number of men. It’s starting to rain again; it’s… the rain had (uh) slacked up a little bit. The back motors of the ship are just holding it (uh) just enough to keep it from…It’s burst into flames! Get this, Charlie; get this, Charlie! It’s fire… and it’s crashing! It’s crashing terrible! Oh, my! Get out of the way, please! It’s burning and bursting into flames and the… and it’s falling on the mooring mast and all the folks between it. This is terrible; this is one of the worst catastrophes in the world. Oh it’s… [unintelligible] its flames… Crashing, oh! oh, four or five hundred feet into the sky, and it’s a terrific crash, ladies and gentlemen. There’s smoke, and there’s flames, now, and the frame is crashing to the ground, not quite to the mooring mast. Oh, the humanity, and all the passengers screaming around here! I told you; it - I can’t even talk to people, their friends are on there! Ah! It’s… it… it’s a… ah! I… I can’t talk, ladies and gentlemen. Honest: it’s just laying there, a mass of smoking wreckage. Ah! And everybody can hardly breathe and talk and the screaming. I… I… I’m sorry. Honest: I… I can hardly breathe. I… I’m going to step inside, where I cannot see it. Charlie, that’s terrible. Ah, ah… I can’t. Listen, folks; I… I’m gonna have to stop for a minute because I’ve lost my voice. This is the worst thing I’ve ever witnessed.
