Nunes is trying to make it all about the “transcript” but that is not the only evidence. He is putting words into the witnesses’ mouths, saying that they said that X didn’t happen, when all they said was they didn’t know that it did.

The “boring” talking point is nuts. Apparently, if there isn’t a Colosseum with Taylor and Kent fighting tigers, while answering questions from the Committee, the impeachment process is not credible.

Although I’m sure it’s being sent out with the hopes that it dissuades people from actually watching.

Stetler: Reporters know that Nunes is throwing B.S. against the wall, hoping to make it stick. Will their end-of-the-day news stories and segments reflect that?

Gee, I don’t know, Brian—

“I also think, episode one so to speak, matters a lot, and I hate to say that because we’re talking about basic democracy at risk here. But from a television perspective, Democrats have to come out strong in that first episode,” Stelter said Sunday on CNN. “For the same reason when we’re watching Netflix or listening to a new podcast, we only choose to keep listening if we’re interested in episode one.”

WASHINGTON (Oct. 22, 2019) — The National Transportation Safety Board determined, during a public board meeting held Tuesday, that load and capacity calculation errors made by FIGG Bridge Engineers, Inc., are the probable cause of the fatal, March 15, 2018, Florida International University pedestrian bridge collapse in Miami.

Contributing to the collapse was Louis Berger’s inadequate peer review, which failed to detect FIGG’s calculation errors in its design of the main span truss member 11/12 nodal region and connection to the bridge deck. The FIGG engineer of record’s failure to identify the significance of structural cracking observed in this node before the collapse, and failure to obtain an independent peer review of the remedial plan to address the cracking, further contributed to the collapse.

Six people died and 10 others were injured when the partially constructed FIU pedestrian bridge catastrophically failed, sending the 174-foot-long, 950-ton, bridge span onto SW 8th Street 18.5 feet below, crushing eight vehicles that were under the bridge. Six of the eight lanes of the roadway traveling under the bridge were open at the time of the collapse.

The failure of FIGG, MCM, Bolton Perez and Associates Consulting Engineers, FIU and the Florida Department of Transportation to cease bridge work and close SW 8th Street to protect public safety contributed to the severity of the collapse outcome, said the NTSB during the meeting.

Impeachment fever has hit Florida!

The student body president of the University of Florida is facing an impeachment threat for spending $50,000 in student fees to bring President Donald Trump’s eldest son and his girlfriend to campus.

Members of the university’s student senate on Tuesday filed a resolution to impeach Student Body President Michael Murphy for malfeasance and abuse of power.

The resolution accuses Murphy of spending mandatory student fees to push his own political beliefs when he brought Donald Trump Jr, and his girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, to speak on campus on October 10.

So basically the House Republicans’ tack to counter today’s testimony is to fall back on their traditional “3 I’s” strategy: Irrelevancies, Innuendo and Insults?

And hope the non-wingnut media doesn’t pick up on it - or bothsider it to death?

To me, an overlooked takeaway is the more-or-less open admission that disbursement of US foreign aid - Congressional appropriation/authorization notwithstanding - was (at least for Ukraine) largely dependent on whether or not they “liked” Trump personally.

Israeli and Spanish companies are offering three-dimensionally (3D)-printed meat products synthesized from plant protein. Israeli firm Redefine Meat will pilot its plant-based meat in European eateries early next year. Spain’s Novameat aims to have its plant-based printers in Spanish, Italian, and U.K. restaurants in the next year, in supermarkets in 2021, and in residences a year or two later. Novameat’s printers receive pea and rice proteins via capsules, which they combine with a red paste to create realistic steak or chicken. Said Emma Lake of U.K. food-industry publication The Caterer, “The potential market for 3D-printed meat could be substantial; we’ve already seen dramatic growth in vegan meat imitations in response to more consumers cutting down on their consumption of animal products for environmental and health reasons.”

1. He’s doing the right thing right now. Whether he likes Democrats or not, he’s still doing his job.
2. The problem with the word Democrat and Democratic is that you have to use one word for a noun, and the other word for an adjective. If you try to change your sentence while talking, you can end up with the wrong one.

I don’t think so. The more stupid shit the GOP does, the more it fucks our standing in the world, which almost always works to Russias advantage. The stupider they get, the more Putin benefits, It really is an amazing arrangement for him.

As for those up in 2022, there’s Rubio, Young in Indiana only got 52% of the vote last time, Roy Blunt in Missouri won with a plurality, Burr in NC is retiring so there’s a potential member of the No Fucks Left to Give Caucus, Toomey in PA won with a plurality, and Ron Johnson won with less than 51%

Whistle-blower timeline.

Sept. 9 — Atkinson, the inspector general of the intelligence community, notifies the House intelligence committee that he received a whistleblower’s complaint relating to an “urgent concern” on Aug. 12. He says he found the information credible, and sent “my determination of a credible urgent concern” along with a copy of the complaint to Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire, who had seven days to forward the complaint to Congress. But, contrary to “past practice,” Maguire did not forward the complaint to Congress, believing “the allegations do not meet the definition of an ‘urgent concern’ under the [whistleblower] statute,” Atkinson writes. The inspector general says he will keep the committee apprised of his attempts to resolve the issue.
