Justin Vernon’s latest work is amazing; one of the best albums of the year, maybe the decade, with striking sonic experimentation and moving, powerfully poetic lyrics. This evocative video springs from one of the highlights of the album.

So I was reading a Mark Billingham novel this afternoon (he’s a British mystery author) and came across this segment, two detectives are surveilling a suspect’s home:

Throne said, ‘how’s it looking?’
‘If you ask me, it’s a Donald Trump situation.’
‘Come again?’
‘The lights are on but there’s nobody home.’

Just found out my best friend’s son, a 19-year-old sophomore in college, has decided to become a MAGAt. Hasn’t said anything openly racist or anything yet, but looks to be going full Alex Keating.

My bud and his wife are doing their best not to lecture or harass or anything like that. They’re pretty much on the same page as most people here, but they’ve always told him that the opinions they express are theirs, and ultimately he has to figure out where he falls.

To be honest, they think part of it is straight-up teen age rebellion. Part of the problem is for him, Trump is the only president he’s ever actually been cognizant of. He sees the boorish behavior; the open flouting of the Constitution; the attacks on private citizens; and thinks this is normal.

I’m not gonna lie: it’s disappointing, bordering on upsetting. I’ve known this kid since he was a toddler. To see him potentially going down this path at such a young age sucks.

My friend thinks his son views himself as “center-right”; aka, “I’m just here for alleged business acumen and not the overt racism and criminal behavior.” Which they and we know isn’t a fucking option anymore with the Grand Old White Nationalist Party.

Hopefully he’ll snap out of it. By my friend’s own admission, his son has had a fairly sheltered life and the term “white privilege” is gonna be a hard lesson to digest. Better sooner than later, though.

I work in an environment full of home-schooled kids coming into their own, still wearing Trump paraphenalia. I feel my job isn’t to try to indoctrinate them, which would fail miserably, but to gently show them how a christ-centered life is basically the opposite of everything Trump says and does. And many of them are taking me for the second part of the fall sequence, so maybe I’m being useful to the cause.

CINCINNATI — A 1,000-acre soybean field 40 miles east of the city will soon be a field of 310,000 solar panels providing energy for city-operated facilities and homes, Mayor John Cranley announced Thursday afternoon.

According to a news release from the city, the finished 100-megawatt array will eventually reduce Cincinnati’s annual carbon emissions by 158,000 tons and move it closer to its goal of a neutral carbon footprint by 2035. It will also be the largest municipal solar array in the United States.

“We believe it’s wrong to rip up this planet and to leave it worse off for our kids,” Cranley said at the announcement.

For someone that never ever smoked weed, today’s 25% or more THC can be a bit much. But edibles seem to be the easy way to over do it these days. Some of the chocolate bars are pretty strong. California passed a rule-No more than 100mg thc in a single package. But if you don’t smoke that’s like ten doses. Eat the whole bar and uh oh…

Or maybe two.

Eh, there is a beer bottle on the amp. That outweighs the sins of the bass being too loud. Especially if it’s a proper tube amp.

We had relatives who were up in MA earlier this year, and they very nicely paid a visit to the local Dispensary for us (braving an hours-long line - these are good relatives!).
And the difference between the retail stuff and the last batch we’d gotten was pretty noticeable. And since it’s mainly going to used for pain-management purposes (seriously), the one-toke bomb is definitely appreciated….

Winner.
Imho.
One of the best and worst things about legal weed is product rules and testing. Best? Real numbers for potency. Assurance’s of no contamination with something horrible. Downside? Expense and restrictions. Upside-Concentrates that are real, not synthetic or laced. Downside-Cost and ridiculous packaging waste.

Vapes? Buh bye now.

And you can see if the remark landed wrong, and can say something quickly to correct the impression. Plus you can identify those people who can NOT understand sarcasm, and avoid letting fly. I have a long time friend, and you might as well hit her upside the head with a dead fish as make a sarcastic remark to her.
