A Texas woman was found dead after pre-dawn attack by a group of feral hogs outside a home, the Chambers County sheriff said.
Christine Rollins, a 59-year old caregiver to an elderly couple in Anahuac, failed to show up at her normal time on Sunday, the sheriffâs office said. The 84-year-old homeowner found her lying in the front yard between her car and the house.
Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said in a news conference Monday that âmultiple hogsâ assaulted Rollins when she arrived at work, likely between 6 and 6:30 a.m., when it was still dark outside.

Youtube seems to be really upping the commercials, at least on videos the channel owner have designated that they want monetized.
Some of the vids Iâm watching the past couple of days, on youtube channels Iâve viewed before, are giving me a couple of advertisements every 5 minutes or so. The adverts are the short ones (5 or 10 seconds), but damn, they interrupt the program so much it is now onerous.
And of course the channels that choose to not monetize will be shuffled off the search results by the Youtube search engine.

On a completely different subject, the large religious university in eastern Idaho that told students Medicaid did not count for insurance, but boy howdy, their really bad insurance offered by the university itself (which doesnât meet ACA standards) does, reverses course and âapologizes for community turmoil.â It took the New York Times writing a piece headlined âUniversity to Students on Medicaid: Buy Private Coverage, or Drop Outâ to get BYU Idahoâs attention.
REXBURG â Brigham Young University-Idaho has reversed its decision to reject Medicaid as a waiver to its Student Health Plan.
The university issued a statement and an apology for the turmoil the decision caused in a campus-wide email Monday night. University spokesman Brett Crandall confirmed the email, but declined to comment further.
âWe have decided that Medicaid, as it has in previous years, will meet the health coverage requirement at BYU-Idaho,â the email says.
The email goes on to say that because of its limited capacity and scope of services, the Student Health Center will continue not serving as a Medicaid service provider.

This was a particular slam because Idaho is expanding Medicaid and many poor young families which go to BYU Idaho will likely qualify for the expansion. Itâs still unclear why BYU Idaho was being such shitheels about it, unless they really expected people to sign up for their truly shitty health insurance.

Endured 2 chest drains and 5 or 6 PVCâs and a grand total of 51 days of penicillin either IV or orally (Mental note: IV Penicillin G, a.k.a. Benzylpenicillin, is not a vein irritant if given by syringe, it is an outright vein bully).
Oh, and I was on an immunosuppressant at the time, so yeah, I donât think I need to relate what I feel about antivaxxersâŠ

But some some weird reason when I brought her in last night she was growling a bit and acting quite aggressively, at least towards me. Once, when I picked her up, she took a swipe at me which is something she RARELY does. She still didnât bother the dogs or tear up anything in the house. When I went out to feed her this morning, she seemed her normal self again.
There was nothing out of the ordinary going on at the house last night, the only people there were people she is used to. I honestly have no idea what set her off. Any other overlord owners had things like this happen?

And yet - Bevin conceded in Kentucky and Beshear will take office. The Democrats will take control of the Virginia statehouse. The worst of the Michigan redistricting attempts got beaten back in court. Even the ham-fisted attempts by my local county Republicans to hang on to control after losing the county executive race to a Dem (first time since 1997) didnât work - they withdrew their bill after the public outcry got too loud.

Yeah, I remember that guy and the hog thing from him. Of course, you donât absolutely have to have a detachable mag rifle for hog hunting. Anything .30-30 and above will do. However, large packs of feral hogs are dangerous and destructive, and clearance efforts probably require a degree of firepower that you do not see with other animals. State game officers are using full auto machine guns from what I understand, and explosives are being considered as well.

NBC?) carries the liability insurance on the Thanksgiving parade, but Iâm sure the disappointment over lack-of-balloons has been costed out as being way cheaper than the possible liability for injuries/damage which might be caused by one of them getting loose in a high wind. I know, weâve been out there on Thanksgiving Eve while they blow them up. They look even bigger when youâre standing next to them.
And no balloons is going to seriously cut down the running time of the parade, which means the talking heads are going to end up commenting on each othersâ overcoats and earmuffs and whatever else itâll take to fill up the time until the dog show comes on.
Best thing about deep-frying a turkey? The Red Cross will bring you donuts and blankets after the fire.

Iâve never been to the balloon filling activities before the parade, but Iâve been to the parade as a kid - a very neat experience. I havenât been there as an adult, and I canât stand the parade coverage on tv. Itâs nearly always awful.
No balloons? Then spend more time on the marching bands that work so hard to get there.
Expect the talking heads to make the parade coverage more insufferable if the balloons donât fly.

Itâs hard to prove a connection and there are many other factors involved, but these events took place less than an average lifetime ago, within my lifetime in fact. In that time, South Korea has gone from backward third-world hellhole to one of the most advanced and prosperous countries in the world.

They went through a lot to get to democracy in the early 1990s; they donât like corruption (though of course it still happens).

Some of that is the result of the opioid epidemic (the gateway being drugs prescribed by licensed physicians who believed the pharmaceuticals when they said drugs like oxycontin were not addictive, even though there wasnât any research to that point).
Some of it is the result of reversing expansion of health coverage to millions of Americans - and health coverage in states that refused to expand coverage under the ACA lag in all manner of health outcome metrics, including life expectancy.
Overall gun violence has dropped, but is still far higher in the US than elsewhere in the developed world.

- FAA reports it was a small aircraft that committed the violation, the plane was escorted out of restricted airspace by fighter jets

I remember a Thanksgiving (I think it was 1999). My dad put the turkey in the oven, set everything correctly and checked on it three hours later to discoverâŠ.the oven wasnât working.
Of course it was a holiday, so no repair option and no stores open at the time. We had to settle for oscar meyer sliced ham (the lunchmeat type stuff) but we still had some good sides and desserts so not all was lost.
Trump knows that if faced with jail time for perjury and saving their own asses, his guys wiâll do the latter every time. He does nothing to inspire loyalty from his inner circle and I suspect if his cult ever saw him up close they would too but their media paints this picture of Trump hard at work and loyal.

I donât know. We have the 25th Amendment in the event heâs suddenly unable to perform his duties as president - Wilson and Kennedy were the basic reasons for it - but in this case, heâs still capable of performing his duties.

I donât know. We have the 25th Amendment in the event heâs suddenly unable to perform his duties as president - Wilson and Kennedy were the basic reasons for it - but in this case, heâs still capable of performing his duties.
How much we should know about the presidentâs health is another story. As is whether or not we are entitled to see his medical records. (This reminds me of the story arch on West Wing when it came out that Bartlett had MS)
