The DOJ Inspector General released a report today finding no evidence of bias against Donald Trump at the FBI, but that didn’t stop the President from going on camera to claim the report validated his assertions of a vast deep state conspiracy against his campaign. #Monologue #LSSC #Colbert.

Because there are some who back Bibi and the far right. There are some who back Trump because they think Israel doesn’t have a right to exist. There are some who think that Trump’s moving the embassy to Jerusalem is the be-all, end all.

Some even think Trump’s the biggest supporter of Israel in its history - objectively bulkshit, but that’s what they’re going with.

this here is exactly the problem with impeachment and democracy:

CNN: “In conversations with the White House, the Kentucky Republican has made clear he hopes to end the trial as soon as he can, an effort to both get impeachment off his lap and protect his conference from potentially damaging votes should the process break out into partisan warfare. That will include a continuous whip count until McConnell feels he has the votes to acquit the President and end the show. He has even floated a 10-day minimum during these talks.”

HappyWarrior  Dec 10, 2019 • 10:50:31am

Here’s my paragraph about the Russian political right and the pogroms. The ideological heirs of these same people are Putin’s base and embraced by the American religious right because of their shared Christianity and want of a church based nation state.

The Russian right was long tied with the monarchy and hostility towards Jews in the Russian empire. It was the Russian right wing press that spread The Protocols of Elders of Zion as fact. Following the pogroms, the right wing press kept on attacking Jews and demonizing them as to justify the violence and hostilities. “The editorialist for Birzhevye vedomosti compared Jews to the southern grain beetle, whose depredations had such a disastrous effect on the local economy.” The dehumanization of the Jews by the Judeophobe press worked as a means to convince non-Jewish readers that not only were the Jews not worthy of protection but they were barely human. It was a tactic later used by Nazi propagandists during the Third Reich. The creation of the state Duma following the Revolution of 1905 did little to change Anti-Semitic attitudes on Russia’s right. A major proposal in the Duma of 1906 was to grant equal rights to Russia’s Jews. Many on Russia’s right in the Duma opposed this measure writes Shmuel Galai in that during the first Duma, “Prince N.S. Volkonskii: He said that, as far as he knew, nowhere had the Jewish question been fully solved. By trying to solve it immediately in Russia, he continued, ‘the Duma might do more harm than good to society’. However, the vast majority of deputies rejected Volkonskii’s views, considering the abolition of the legal restrictions on Jews to be a simple matter, and objected to any delay in preparing the bill on civic equality. Indeed, from that moment onward, the plight of Russian Jewry became the main argument in favour of urgent promulgation of the bill.” Opponents of Jewish equality like Volkonskii ignored the fact that in many parts of the empire that Jews were still being subject to violence and questions of their loyalty had persisted not ceased. Even after the heavy debates in the Duma about Jewish equality, Anti-Semitic attitudes and belief in Jewish conspiracies were popular on Russia’s right. Yohanan Petrovsky Schtern notes that on December 2nd, 1911, Nikolai Evgen’evich Markov II advocated for the removal of all Jewish soldiers from the military and argued that any Jewish soldier like all of Russia’s Jews followed the dictates of a secret Jewish government based on the Talmud. Markov II went even further by alluding to The Protocols of Elders of Zion. Markov II’s opinions represented many on the Russian right who were convinced of a great Jewish conspiracy for global domination and of inherent Jewish disloyalty to Russia. Markov II later went on to be a supporter of the Third Reich in years following the Russian Revolution.

this is why they narrowly focused the articles (for now)

from the same cnn article above

“But the show is exactly what Trump wants. He’s made clear to advisers privately that rather than end the trial as quickly as possible, he is hoping for a dramatic event, according to two people familiar with his thinking. He wants Hunter Biden, Rep. Adam Schiff and the whistleblower to testify. He wants the witnesses to be live, not clips of taped depositions. And he’s hoping to turn it into a spectacle, which he thinks is his best chance to hurt Democrats in the election.”

none of which is relevant to the 2nd article

Commissioners in a North Dakota county have voted to *continue* accepting refugees for resettlement, a choice they had under a new Trump administration policy that gives local governments the right to refuse.

The Burleigh County Commission, whose largely conservative jurisdiction includes the state capital of Bismarck, voted 3-2 on Monday against turning away new refugees. The commission agreed to take a maximum of 25 refugees over the next year.

Active shooter situation in Jersey City, NJ. Shooter opened fire at cop from a cemetery, then took hostages in a bodega - some suggest they entered a kosher deli, and continued to fire on police including from neighboring jurisdictions. All Jersey City schools locked down.

Area of concern is JFK Blvd.

At least one cop injured and taken to the hospital.

There are two kosher restaurants/businesses on JFK Blvd - Kosher Fish & Deli and JC Kosher Supermarket. But Channel 7 seems to indicate that the building in question is a “bodega”. Other news is indicating a bodega as well:

Houston Police Sgt. Christopher Brewster, 32, was shot and killed Saturday night on a domestic violence call. The man who shot him with semi-automatic pistol had a long criminal history, including domestic assault, and he had two guns with him during the assault on his girlfriend that Brewster responded to.

This week, Houston Police Department Chief Art Acevedo is seeing Brewster buried, and he’s enraged at the men who are continuing to allow this to happen. “We all know in law enforcement that one of the biggest reasons that the Senate, Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn and Ted Cruz and others are not getting into a room and having a conference committee with the House and getting the Violence Against Women Act, is because the NRA doesn’t like the fact that we want to take firearms out of the hands of boyfriends that abuse their girlfriends,” he said Monday morning.

Acevedo continued, “And who killed our sergeant? A boyfriend abusing his girlfriend. So you’re either here for women and children and our daughters and our sisters and our aunts, or you’re here for the NRA.” The Republican Senate is indeed cowering in the face of the NRA’s opposition to taking guns out of the hands of abusive boyfriends. The VAWA expired in February, and with it billions in funding that has helped law enforcement and social services combat domestic abuse. The Senate won’t take up the House bill that passed in April, mostly because of the NRA.

“So I don’t want to see their little smug faces about how much they care about law enforcement when I’m burying a sergeant because they don’t want to piss off the NRA. Make up your minds, whose side are you on?” Acevedo said. “Gun manufacturers? The gun lobby? Or the children who are getting gunned down in this country every single day? [….] Who are you coming to work for?” That’s not all he had to say. “Don’t tell me, Senators, with all due respect, it’s about the impeachment. Because you brag every day […] about getting judges confirmed.”

“I found it unbelievable listening to that press conference you put on for the whole length,” Congressman Steve Cohen said. “Unless you were waiting for lightning to strike because biblically it should of. I don’t understand why you had that propaganda on for that long.”

Representative Cohen (D-TN) then went on to point out that Republicans are systematically lying not only about the recent IG report exonerating the FBI from a biased investigation of the president. He did so as well about their false assessment of the articles of impeachment recently announced by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi along with the other Congressional Committee Chairs.

“The Republicans have nothing but propaganda to put out,” Cohen continued. “They can’t defend the facts so they go after the procedure. They put up lies. The FBI did not show that there was spying on the president. That was not true. The IG’s Report showed the FBI made certain small mistakes but they did not make a mistake in investigating the with Russia and the Trump campaign. And the FBI should not be sullied.”

I remember hearing on AFN that it is Army policy that servicemen with a history of domestic violence are not allowed to carry sidearms in housing areas.

They can drive tanks, fire cannons or launch missiles, just not carry a pistol…

Largest industrial hemp processing facility in the U.S. to be built in Shallowater

The Panda High Plains Hemp Gin is expected to be the largest hemp decortication center in the United States and one of the largest in the world. Decortication in this instance is the separation of the fiber and cellulose from the stalk of the plant.

Panda Biotech plans on deploying the most technologically advanced, highest capacity and first-of-its-kind industrial hemp decorticating equipment ever used. The Panda Biotech Hemp Gins will be based on smaller versions of proven decortication technology that have been used throughout Asia and Europe for decades.

Scott Evans, executive vice president of Panda Biotech said, “Hemp fiber and cellulose will help manufacturers meet the needs of today’s eco-conscious consumers who increasingly require environmentally friendly products and services. As a result, hemp will be a game changer for both agriculture and industry for generations to come.”

The U.S. hemp industry was made possible due to the passage of the federal Hemp Farming Act of 2018. Panda Biotech was subsequently formed after the provisions of the Act were incorporated in the 2018 U.S. Farm Bill that was signed into law by President Trump on Dec. 20, 2018.

The global industrial hemp market is projected to grow from $4.6 billion in 2019 to $32 billion by 2022.

Shallowater is just outside Lubbock.

Saudi gunman tweeted against US before naval base shooting

The Saudi gunman who killed three people at the Pensacola naval base had apparently gone on Twitter shortly before the shooting to blast U.S. support of Israel and accuse America of being anti-Muslim, a U.S. official said Sunday as the FBI confirmed it is operating on the assumption the attack was an act of terrorism.

[…]

Alshamrani used a Glock 9 mm weapon that had been purchased legally in Florida, Rojas said. DeSantis questioned whether foreigners should continue to be allowed under federal law to buy guns in the U.S. and called it a “federal loophole.”

Republican DeSantis said he supports that the Second Amendment but that it “does not apply to Saudi Arabians.”

He could have been killed, honestly. A horse that has delivered that kind of kick could crush his chest. I was in our pasture one day when a mare kicked at another mare and I was in the wrong place. I instinctively covered my abdomen with my arm, and was knocked a good number of feet. Was lucky, because I was at the far end of the kick, not about half way back, like this idiot. The way the system is designed (or at least the way it operates today), the verdict in a Senate trial is almost always going to be predetermined and the testimony irrelevant. Not only is there the question of partisanship, there is the fact that the House conducts its investigation in public. Meaning, Senators (unlike jurors in a standard criminal defense trial) have access to information before impaneled.

Moreover, if the Senate was doing its job, they would also be conducting oversight of the administration and thus would likely find additional information (something at jurors in trials are not typically supposed to do).

Also, interestingly enough, Adam Schiff was the lead manager in the last impeachment trial in the Senate.

i once had a horse on a lead rope. i was standing by his neck, and we were both facing forward properly. in a split second he managed to twist and wheel just enough and kicked. i was lucky like you - it wasn’t full on. still x-rays and nearly broke an arm and a rib or two. sore for quite a while.

They know a lot more than we think they do. We had an old stallion who had suffered a broken pelvis in his middle age. It had healed well enough that he could still be ridden. He loved showing off (as they all do), and when we were showing him to visitors, he would stand on his hind legs and loved the applause. One day in his old age, he showed off, and then rolled in the sand afterwards. He couldn’t get up. Arthritis in that old break had gotten to the point where he couldn’t get it under him and push to stand. He just lay flat, without moving. My husband and I each took a bottom leg and flipped him over. He got up, would not look at anyone, walked head down into his stall and disappeared. He was so embarrassed, it radiated!

I imagine the calculation on his part is that he can use such as leverage to ratchet down public opinion of impeachment: Argue that a prolonged “trial” that would get into the facts of the case would only delay votes on “critical” bills, so the country is better off if they rush through the proceedings towards the “acquittal” vote.

Rudy Giuliani told the Washington Post that President Trump has asked him to brief the Justice Department and Republican senators on his findings from a recent trip to Ukraine ahead of a likely Senate impeachment trial.

rudy gonna buck the entire US intelligence network and what Wray said yesterday?

Trump to sign executive order effectively interpreting Judaism as a nationality

Effectively “othering” Jews.

I really, REALLY think that is A Bad Idea. As bad as antisemitism has gotten - a bit on the left, a lot on the right - this provides an excuse to treat Jews as “not really American”, which, frankly, Trump has always done, and which the more overt of his followers all get.

The free for all computer market sometimes follows standards. Until it doesn’t.

From the picture, the symbol looks like it might be a cable connector icon such as this -
dreamstime.com

Or, for all I know, it also looks like the power button symbol. Although the object looks nothing like a power buttons I have seen.

The object could be a connector for a mini-jack. Or it could be for coaxial cable. Yellow is a standard color in the RCA jacks. What it means depends on the context. But often it means composite video.

Probably reading the manual or trying to look at the motherboard would prove more rewarding in finding out what the manufacturer’s fevered imagination created here.

I saw some video of Trump last night. The skin around his eyes was so dark and puffy that his white circle makeup around the eyes couldn’t cover it up. He looked like he was ill and had not slept at all.

I did not bother watching enough of the video to observe his body movements or face. So I can’t speak to that. But…

Welp, if Judaism is going to be a nationality, there won’t be any American Jews—just, um, Jewish Jews?? It’s all so confusing…(and just when I’d documented my ancestry as 99+% Ashkenazi Jew with all of the ancestors from Ukraine and Lithuania, or as they were once called, Russia.)

I guess I’ll add identity crisis to my other concerns!
