Since we’re talking about all the ways Matt Bevin is classing up the GOP, here’s another fun bit:

The victim was 9 years old.

Guy really can’t start pining for the fjords soon enough.

Yeah: real sterling example of GOP leadership, that Bevin….

“Bevin clearly doesn’t know medicine and anatomy,” said former Kentucky medical chief and child abuse expert Dr. George Nichols in conversation with Courier-Journal reporter Joe Sonka. “I worked for six consecutive governors as chief medical examiner, and fortunately I didn’t have to report to that asshole.”

We housesat when first married for a year for my grad school mentor. The house came with a dachshund. That sweet mercurial sometimes dangerous little dog loved balls. He would push-chase a basketball around the driveway for 10-20 minutes.

He tried to bite us several times (and succeeded in biting my wife), but when wife was pregnant, he was the most devoted little guy—always wanted to lay his head on her tummy when she rested on the couch.

Seriously? How do I always manage to post the very last post seconds before the new thread pops up?

Sigh. Reposting from below:

Oh it’s so bad, so so bad.

Matt Bevin needs to be DRAGGED.

Bevin also revealed publicly for the first time the victim’s relationship to Schoettle and said that the victim’s sister was present during the alleged assaults. The sister has denied the assaults took place, Bevin said.

“Both their hymens were intact. This is perhaps more specific than people would want, but trust me. If you have been repeatedly sexually violated as a small child by an adult, there are going to be repercussions of that physically and medically,” Bevin said.

Bevin’s claim is flatly incorrect, Dr. George Nichols, who was Kentucky’s chief medical examiner for 20 years and later started the child abuse evaluation system at Kosair Children’s Hospital, told The Courier Journal.

“Rape is not proved by hymen penetration,” Nichols said. “Rape is proved by phallic penetration … where the vaginal lips meet the outer surface of the vagina.

“He not only doesn’t know the law, in my humble opinion, he clearly doesn’t know medicine and anatomy.”

Nichols added that he worked for six consecutive governors as chief medical examiner, “and fortunately I didn’t have to report to that a—hole.”

According to Forensic Science International, a peer-reviewed journal, a survey of pediatric child abuse rape cases indicated that only 2.1% of subjects examined had visible lesions on the hymen.

I know it’s currently fashionable to drag Tom Steyer, but he’s right - he did do a lot to make impeachment happen. He put a lot of his money on that line.

We can argue that the money might have been better spent elsewhere, maybe, but I have no doubt it had an effect on the impeachment discussion.

It’s like there is no escape. Trumps horrible actions get and hold our attention. Add on the impeachment and the GOP MAGA propaganda campaign. Now add a critically important primary with too many, yet somehow too few dem candidates. And the general election is a source of massive anxiety if you give a crap about the country. Z & I narrowly missed a pileup on the 80, driving back from NY in 2012. It was getting dark and I decided that we should pull off the road at the next exit and stop for the night. We found out the next morning that if we had gone on, we would have met that pileup one stop ahead.

That was the last time we drove to NY. We still drive the I-80 to Wilkes-Barre to visit our daughter but only during the summer.

I-80 is a nice drive in good weather and very treacherous in bad.

One of my routes to my brother’s place involves taking I-80 between the PA turnpike NE extension (I-476) and Williamsport, PA where I head north up I-99 (or what will be I-99) to get to Corning. Bad weather alternative is going further up the turnpike to get to I-81 and then going west on I-86 when I get to Binghamton.

I drove back and forth twice a week to Elkhart In and off of I-80 at the US 15 exit mm 215.
I knew every trouble spot and would scream my brains out going down the mountains in ice and snow. But that stretch is a monster.
Won’t be the last there this year.
One night in increasingly bad snow I almost decided to follow two trucks East bound. They were talking off channel and decided to go for it. I had an exit coming up where I could park. If I pass this exit I’m on the slab for 70 plus miles,
I turned In and parked it.
Got up the next day and it was a junkyard on the 80.
And about 10 miles down the road were the two trucks I almost followed.
They were in a ditch, one on its side.
I do not miss those nights.

We thought that no one would pay attention to the Dingell atrocity from last night’s “rally”, but I heard a lot about it on NPR today, and they interviewed a journalist from Michigan, and he said it was the big story statewide from the “rally”. He said people might not understand it, but that politics there was local, and national, and the two might seem diametrically opposed, as in Dingell and DT, but they just were not, on the ground. He said a lot of people know and like Debbie Dingell, and they know she has been having a hard time this year, and the remarks really caused outrage.

So White Sands is getting an upgrade to National Park. So cool. They’ve been hoping to become a National Park for years.

Can’t believe it happened under tRump’s watch. Must have slipped it by the stable genius, being that he doesn’t represent our state since we didn’t vote for him.

Congrats to the cool rangers we met!

If you get the chance, go there. It’s so beautiful and otherworldly.
