A Gorgeous Harp Guitar Piece by Antoine Dufour: “You & I” [VIDEO]

Music • Views: 22,483

YouTube

Here’s a harp guitar version of my old song «You & I» (Toi et moi). That’s a song that I actually wrote just before getting this harp guitar. It was inspired by Stephen Bennett playing his harp guitar. I was trying to emulate the feel of his writing on harp guitar, but on my 6 string. I recently remembered that this tune was meant to be played on harp guitar and decided to work on it.

It’s a song I wrote for my wife, Annie. You can find a lot of symbolism in this tune about 2 people or duality, combination, completion, etc. The major chord versus it’s minor relative (F#m9 and Amaj7), male female, etc. Of course it depicts our relation. This version show also evolution in that relation. Happy moments, moments of sensibility, as well as the ones that seems like chaos at times. You know, those very quick moments when everything climbs up so fast emotionally, leading into incertain periods. The clock of time at the end represents my wish to make this relation stand the test of time. The ending chord is a D maj9 #11 which contains the 2 chords together for obvious reason. Hope you dig it.

The tuning is:
harp, low to high: E, F#, A, C#, D, E
Guitar, low to high: F#, A, D, G, B, E, w/partial capo on the 4 first strings 2nd fret.

It’s a Duane Noble Harp Guitar: harpguitarmusic.com

Recorded with 3 mics:

Charter Oak E700
Charter Oak M900t
Royer R 10

I use:
Ernie Ball Strings: ernieball.com

I’m planning to ride the Coast Starlight all the way from Los Angeles to Seattle and back for my 65th birthday. Hopefully Trump hasn’t killed the dining car on that line when I do that!

I took an Amtrak from Flagstaff, AZ to Chicago. Great trip: the Painted Desert at Sunrise, crossing the Rockies at sunset, sleeping through most of the Great Plains in time to wake up crossing the Mississippi and then passing through rolling Illinois countryside.

The trip back was just the opposite and awful.

ICE has begun asking immigration courts to reopen administratively closed deportation cases against DACA recipients who continue to have no criminal record, or only a minor record. Immigration attorneys in Arizona confirmed at least 14 such cases being reopened since October, and CNN also found DACA recipients whose cases recently were reopened in Nevada and Missouri.
And that is just the beginning. ICE confirmed to CNN that all DACA recipients whose deportation cases have been administratively closed can expect to see them reopened. In an email, the agency stated that “re-calendaring of administratively closed cases is occurring nationwide and not isolated to a particular state or region.”

Here’s the thing about these master finger pickers. If musicians were super heros I’ve always thought drummers would be the toughest fighters because of the physicality of drumming for long periods of time. I’ve now come to the conclusion that the Finger Pickers are the Ninjas of Musican Martial Arts. They can choke you with two fingers on their left hand, but the death blow is the right hand with the Black Panther fingernails that will slice your face or gut your innards with minimal effort. Yet, done with artistic flair.

So cute. I had a kind of similar experience with a black bear momma and cub last year. I saw the momma cross the road ahead of me, so I stopped to watch. Then the cub came to the edge of the road, but wouldn’t cross (probably saw my car, but there wasn’t much I could do about that). The momma came back across twice but couldn’t get the cub to follow and eventually they went back into the woods in the direction they came from. We have lots of “Moose Crossing” signs here in southern NH, but it’s pretty rare now. Apparently the warmer weather means they’re mostly in the far north and into Canada.

Special day for me. Just completed another revolution around the sun. For some strange reason I have a strange song running as an ear-worm today. It goes like this: “Kookie, Kookie, Lend Me Your Comb” I think it’s from a ‘50’s TV detective show.

Of course, today’s a day for some reflective thoughts. My earliest memory is riding my trike at my Grandpas house while my Dad was in the Navy in WW II.
I can remember getting on our home phone and asking a nice lady (always a lady) to connect me to what ever person/number I wanted. And they were always very polite.
I can remember seeing President Truman at a political rally. The only President I’ve seen in person.
I remember JFK and MLK. Watched Ruby shoot Oswald on live TV.
Those are some of my “older” memories.

I am thankful I found LGF. The topics and discussions are extremely stimulating and thoughtful. You LGFers keep my mind very active and inquisitive.
Thanks everyone.

I used to live near there in my youth, and always used to wonder exactly where said locale was (Dino’s Lodge was a fixture there for years). Of course, I had to wait for the introduction of IMDB to figure it out exactly:* but at least someone has taken the effort to mark even such a minor piece of Hollywood memorabilia.

*

That the address of “77 Sunset Strip” was, basically, an awning placed in front of another building, and used for a few exterior shots: with everything else (including “Dino’s” parking area, being studio sets. It also explains why the shots of the outside of “77” always showed the same cars whizzing by, season after season…..

My son’s, but he got too cramped living in an apartment, so he’s moving to the country with us so he has plenty of running room.

That’s nice to hear. I hate to hear about dogs living in apartments and other small spaces. They need room to run around and be goofy.

I think every society has had some sort of winter festival/holiday (usually around the solstice, which was yesterday). We call it christmas today, in the west, having borrowed a few pagan traditions, and it’s an excuse to have a day off, hang out with friends and family, enjoy a nice meal and maybe share gifts. Even as we become more secular, I suspect there will still be these kinds of festivities

Dad angry over 13-year-old’s haircut shoots barber three times, Texas police say

A Texas man angry about his son’s haircut shot a barber three times Saturday, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office reported on Twitter.

The dispute broke out about 5 p.m. over a haircut given to the man’s 13-year-old son in the 23900 block of Franz Road in Katy, west of Houston, sheriff’s officials said.

“”He went home, came back,” said detective Wyatt Wallace, KPRC reported. “They fixed the haircut for free and then that’s when the altercation occurred.”

If only the barber had been packing heat….
I’ve got it, an over-under with clippers on top, .410 smoothbore on the bottom. Maybe a brush with a 9mm barrel built into the handle, squeeze-trigger alongside the bristles. Of course, the oppressive 2A hating feds deny our God-given right to have disguised guns like shooting canes. There is an easy workaround, though. Just put a big notice on it, THIS IS ALSO A GUN! DON’T FUCK WITH ME LIBTURD!

Could just be the ring that carries the rotary plate. Check by running without plate and ring for a bit. (Be sure to include a cup of water or other absorber.)

Second that. When I dish the plate, I always dish the ring, it could be either the ring or some crud accumulated in what rotates the plate that makes the noise.

Shiplord Kirel, Friend of Moose and Squirrel  Dec 22, 2019 • 5:16:55pm

Hmmm…I hope he’s right, and there are hopeful signs.
The Inevitable Death of Evangelical Christianity

Whenever I read the surveys from Christianity Today, or Baptist News, or The Christian Post about how young people are leaving the American Church in droves, or how politics in the pulpit is driving the next generation away from the faith, or how Evangelicals are slowly growing older and more irrelevant to their communities, I must confess I give a little cheer.

Why?

Because all of these signs point to one inevitable conclusion: The Evangelical Christian Church is a dinosaur whose time has just about run out.

Honestly, I am looking forward to looking back on the days when Christians were once hateful, xenophobic, misogynistic, homophobic, and tribalistic.
