That’s easily one of the most cringeworthy things to come out of the Star Wars franchise. The only thing that it’s memorable for was the introduction of Boba Fett.
I saw episode 8 of The Mandalorian: I have to say, it’s been a very well-done series thus far and Season 1 certainly ended on a high note. Taika Waititi’s direction and a solid script by Jon Favreau for the season finale earns up a thumbs-up.

There’s a town I keep an eye on: Redding, California, because it’s becoming dominated by one church, Bethel. (Yes, the same Bethel that pushed the resurrection of a child a couple weeks back.) The last mayor of Redding (an appointed position among the city council) was an elder of Bethel and she proposed locking up the homeless in November:

Then Reagan came in and his whiz kid Stockman conspired with Congressional Republicans and Blue Dogs led by Phil Gramm to gut Section 8 Housing Assistance. All of a sudden a lot of folks dependent on Section 8 were evicted and wound up on the streets.
Oh and I also remember when Carter passed Social Security Amendments requiring Disability recipients to be re-examined because ABC did a series of news reports alleging a high rate of fraud in the program, especially SSI. At that time I was working for the Pennsylvania Labor Department as a disability examiner. All of a sudden we were ordered to purge 40% of the rolls. Reagan’s stooge Schweicker then running HHS set that figure in stone. Examiners got to the point that they just denied continuation cases on the slightest reason. We barely got to the 40% quota.
End result—more homeless and lots of people committed suicide when the benefits were cut off. And what did the Corporate Controlled Conservative Press do?
The motherfathers were completely silent about that. But they endlessly kissed President Pruneface’s ass until Iran-Contra…

Have y’all seen Grapes of Wrath? Remember the tent city encampment the Joads ended up at? Each family has a tent on a wooden platform, with some cots, maybe 300 square feet. There’s a community kitchen tent that looks a lot like a Jose Andres project, and an administrative office where people can get mail. An elementary school. Each of the adults has to put in a certain number of hours helping take care of the place, there’s minimal paid staff running it, people eventually (a few at a time) get real jobs with real incomes and their family moves on…
The only real expense is having the land to put it on.

I’m a foodie and I love to cook. A friend just made it and I had been teasing myself for a while. Now the Wife Unit has committed me to the task.
I like Gordon Ramsay’s recipe above. The other way to make is is there’s actually multiple layers: pate, think pancake, duxelle, pastry. I like the proscuitto/duxelle/pastry as it’s easier so that’s what I’m going with. Plus my foodie buddy shared his mistakes so I got that going for me.

Hey lizardom. Posting has been light for me since I adopted my 7 year old German Shepherd guy. I have been dogless for 6 years. Never really got over losing my last guy. But I saw this dude at the shelter and over a period of 2 weeks visiting him on and off to play/interact with him, I had to spring him. Huge lifestyle changes but I’m welcoming it. Even found a great trainer less than a mile away. My wallet is a lot less lighter but $ spent on him instead of weekend boozing is a welcomed change.
He’s only been home 1.5 months, and has settled in quite well. He does have some pretty significant issues but they are manageable. After this guy’s sad story, I can understand a bit.
His owner who got him as a puppy in 2012 died suddenly in September of a heart attack. The extended family neglected him for a month before dumping him at the shelter, scared and muzzled. It was bad. To the point where the shelter folks were afraid of him too. A month there and he lost more than 20 lbs. I had to spring the guy even though I wasn’t 100% prepared. Someone else was showing interest in him while my friend and I were with him in the play area. A guy with 6 and 9 year old kids. That could have been a death sentence for this guy. So I claimed him and picked him up from the vet a few days later after his neutering.
I’m determined to help this guy live his golden years the way he deserves. A few bumps here and there, but we are definitely figuring each other out. :)
