This is really bad.

UK abandons Trump as US ‘withdraws its leadership around the world.’

In remarkably outspoken comments, UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said in an interview published Sunday that Trump’s isolationist foreign-policy stance had prompted the UK to look for alternative allies.

“I worry if the United States withdraws from its leadership around the world,” he told The Sunday Times.

He added: “The assumptions of 2010 that we were always going to be part of a US coalition is really just not where we are going to be.”

If Trump were actually a Manchurian candidate bent on wrecking everything about the United States, I’m hard pressed to think of anything he would do differently.

Sounds more like Gigi Hadid just happened to be in the juror pool that day: one thing about NYC: they’re pretty ferocious about rounding up potential jurors (you get like NO excuses or exemptions these days): and Gigi probably got called up just by chance.
Though if I were Weinstein’s attorney, (or the prosecutor) I’d challenge her out: I thought one of the basic rules about jury selection is that, despite whatever they say, you NEVER want anyone who knows the defendant on a jury.

Going through the motions of opening arguments and questions, followed by possibly one or two witnesses, and then a party line (or near party line) vote is his best option of keeping his majority.

We can probably debate the Senate probabilities til we drop from exhaustion, but I’ll just put it out here (and try not to mention it much again til WAY nearer the election), that I think the current indications are that the Dems will likely flip three seats (AZ, CO and ME), and lose one (AL), which would make it 51-49 and mean that the GOP could not lose more than one seat next year to avoid a tied Senate, and two would mean a loss-of-majority. Which situation I’m sure that old McTurtle would try to fiddle the Senate rules to leverage to maximum (R) advantage, but would still severely crimp the GOP’s plans.

Exactly. I have a lot of family who love that Sanders supports this and that. They never answer how Bernie who has never been a great legislator hasn’t gotten his agenda passed as Senator and Rep. Therefore they can’t think of a valid reason that he’d be a successful executive. And it’s frustrating because they’re not dumb but they just hear Bernie promise the world and think that’s the way to ambitious reform. You want ambitious reform. Build a strong and lasting legislative majority. You’ve seen the fruits of that budding here in Virginia as have I.

They say they venerate FDR. Well FDR and also LBJ were very savvy politically. You would see longer and more substantial reform under a moderate like Biden than you would Bernie. My concern with Biden isn’t that he’s not able to get laws passed and implemented. It’s that he doesn’t see how the opposition doesn’t operate in good faith at all. Make no mistake, Bill Frist isn’t missed by me but he was more reasonable than the guy who brags about stopping legislation without even voting on it. We need a Senate majority. And Bernie has never seen the importance of that. Warren I feel does and I think Pete does too but I’m afraid Sanders does not and he would ignore down ticket races.

Bernie’s never had major legislation with his name on it because Bernie doesn’t really involve himself in the sausage-making that is being a member of Congress. My 17 year-old son (will be 18 in August) loves him some Bernie. He’s driving me nuts with a daily/hourly play-by-play of what Bernie said or did, what his supporters said or did, how much Bernie likes minor league baseball, and Bernie’s favorite sandwich.

I’m trying here because he is actually paying very close attention to the political process and wants to be involved in canvassing. I have told him to put his heart into it but be prepared that it could get broken. I still think Biden will ultimately be the nominee and I remind him daily that I will vote for Bernie, even though I don’t like him, because anyone is better than Trump. I expect him to do the same.

I also reminded him that Biden is up with the 65 and older vote, as well as African Americans. Those are the people who vote. If the kids want Bernie they’d better grow up and get to the polls. There will be no voting by Instagram or Twitter.

Only candidate we both like is Warren. I suspect many parents are having these same conversations with their voting-aged kids. Thank God we’re all Democrats, including my parents.

My middle brother likes Bernie. He’s where I was as a teenager. Super idealistic in a lot of ways. He’s educated enough but I think he needs to read more history about how we’ve gotten the radical changes in our history. There’s a lot of people like him and your son who are typically younger and by that, I mean under 30. I want a lot of what Bernie does. I agree completely with Bernie that wealth disparities cannot continue like this but Bernie ignores a lot and I hate the pedestal he puts himself on. I hate saying it to people but it’s Trump like and I fear a lot of otherwise sensible people ignore it since they like what he’s offering.

Bernie Sanders says he doesn’t want a super PAC. Instead, he has Our Revolution, a nonprofit political organization he founded that functions much the same as one.

It won’t have to publicly reveal its 2019 fundraising until after this year’s presidential election. And money it raises between now and then won’t have to be disclosed until the following year…

It was also somebody on Nixon’s team who first came up with Universal Basic Income (automation wasn’t such a big consideration back then, but UBI would have alleviated the need for minimum wage, food stamps, unemployment or disability benefits, etc).

I once had a dog that hated sharks and lions and would attack the big screen TV every time. I had to block out The Animal Channel and Discovery in case he saw one as I flipped through channels.

My roommate’s dog when I was in college LOVED Letterman’s Stupid Pet Tricks segment. If he heard Letterman say that after the break is SPT, he’d come running and park himself in front of the TV. (this is the same dog who used to play solitaire fetch on the stairs. Drop the ball, go get it, drop it again…)

I think a bunch of people got spooked by the backlash against a polished and accomplished black man, no matter how well he did. In fact, it seemed like the better he did the more hate was pumped up. And that hate was rolled up in a ball with everything thrown at Hillary Clinton since she was first lady of Arkansas, and when despite it all, she won the popular vote by a considerable margin, she somehow lost a few northern industrial states with Republican governors by very slim margins. So SOME people are probably thinking it is too soon for a woman or PoC. Gotta have a white man in there again! And I wasn’t against some of the white men in the race either. Just think enough people got spooked to pull back and get cautious.
