Yes, the most important part of him being impeached is that he’s getting media attention and ratings. You know, not that he’s the fucking president being impeached for high crimes and subverting the very rule of law to enrich himself and entrench himself as a fucking unaccountable emperor. Holy fuck, you hacks.

Two people are dead and five injured after a person opened fire “indiscriminately” at a San Antonio bar Sunday night.

San Antonio Police Department responded to a shooting at a bar called Ventura, steps from the San Antonio River, at 8 p.m. local time. An altercation appears to have broken out between customers when one person pulled out a gun and began shooting, Police Chief William McManus said at a press conference Sunday night.

In total, seven people were shot. A 21-year-old man died inside the club, while a second person in critical condition was later pronounced dead.

Five people are currently being treated at area hospitals. Their conditions are unclear at this moment, police said

I have run into Christians who absolutely believe flat-earther nonsense.

The problem with promoting such things is most people don’t believe it, but for those that do, you provide a gateway of sorts to other more dangerous nonsense. It sorts out people who will accept things with poor or no evidence.

It is noteworthy that virtually all flat-earthers are religious.

McConnell is consulting with senior members of his party in an attempt to cobble to together a “kill switch” rule that would allow him to dismiss the articles of impeachment in the Senate against Donald Trump quickly after a minimum of evidence has been presented.

sure, you can end the trial. you can choose not to remove the president. some ‘lack of evidence’ gambit. it wont be an exoneration. and everyone will see it for what it is.
a crass political move.

interesting that you dont let the house just make fools of themselves?. these are some really desperate tactics considering the president is ‘totally innocent’

in any event, the house will keep investigating
and evidence will keep coming out in the medial

and we’ll keep talking

(((Viking Sea Mexican)))  Jan 20, 2020 • 6:29:35am

It seems that the Puerto Rican Summer of 2019 will turn into the Winter/Spring of 2020. The recent earthquake swarm has caused more than the physical and psychological damage to the buildings and people.

When the disaster struck, people from the less affected areas flocked to the south to deliver help. Meanwhile, the government officials those first days went around taking photos of themselves “helping” the affected people. There was even a small (by comparison) scandal about propaganda delivered with the aid.

Fast forward this week, and what’s been uncovered is disgusting. The highlight is the discovery of a warehouse full with aid supplies. Now it appears that there are 7 (or 13) warehouses more with supplies. When the Ponce warehouse was discovered, people broke in, took the supplies, and they are delivering to the people in need right now.

It appears these warehouses were set up after Hurricane Maria, as some has found digging through news archives.

The now governor is in panic mode. She has already fired 3 high ranking officials that should have dealt with the warehouses directly. But many people aren’t buying it.

David Begnaud has been on top of this story.

Sending you all the good vibes I can, hoping she’s going to be alright.

Of course she needs to be examined ASAP, but temporary memory losses are frequent after a fall. When I was a kid, my brother once came home after falling from his bike - at first everything seemed OK apart for a few bruises, then we started panicking when we realized there was a gap of several months in his memories - he didn’t remember his previous birthday and was totally confused when he saw the date. At the hospital they told us it wasn’t uncommon, and after a while most of his memories gradually came back, except for the hour or so around the accident, which he never remembered.

Hoping that it’s a similar case here, and that she will receive good care soon.

Sam Ervin during Watergate, “Before I came to Washington I was a judge in North Carolina for 20 years; one thing that experience taught me is that when a defendant has exculpatory evidence that proves their innocence, they will chase you down to show it to you.”

I don’t see much of that. Mostly the opposite. Lie, obfuscate, distract

There is precisely zero exculpatory evidence.

Everyone knows it. That’s why Trumpworld and the Trumpists aren’t arguing facts or even the law. They’re just deflecting and projecting like IMAX.

They’re pushing claims that don’t stand up to the slightest scrutiny, as with Dershowitz claiming that impeachment wasn’t meant to deal with non-crimes - when we have evidence of multiple felonies and that the Founders intended to use impeachment as a check on Executive and Judicial Branch misconduct.

More appropriately, the “86th AD” : instead of Purple Hearts they can award themselves Purple Guns, or whatever.

So (even though it’s still early), I wonder what the actual turnout for this shindig is likely to be (somewhat short of the “hundreds of thousands” they’ve hyped, I imagine)?

The Legion of Christ, the religious order founded by the perverse Marcial Maciel, is still covering up child sexual abuse.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — The administrator of the elite Catholic school in Cancun, Mexico, used to take the girls out of class and send them to the chapel, where the priest from the Legion of Christ religious order would sexually abuse them.

“As some were reading the Bible, he would rape the others in front of them, little girls aged 6 to 8 or 9,” said one of his victims, Ana Lucia Salazar, now a 36-year-old Mexican television host and mother of three.

“Afterward, nothing was the same, nothing went back to the way it was,” she said through tears at her home in Mexico City.

Salazar’s horrific story, which has been corroborated by other victims and the Legion itself, has sparked a new credibility crisis for the once-influential order, 10 years after the Holy See took it over after determining that its founder was a pedophile.

1. Despite all the tight-focus pics trying to maximize the perceived numbers of these gun-goobers, do we yet have any credible figures as to actual turnout?

2. Regarding numbers, I wonder how many people would likely show up in Richmond to support the Lege’s gun-control measures?

Yep. Yep. Yep. The police are making it plain who can protest peacefully in this country and who cannot.

So looking that photo “The FOO” posted ( he left off an “L”, I see), I did a rough count, and estimated at most, maybe thirty guys, max, in that “muster”. Which leads me to think of two questions:

1. Despite all the tight-focus pics trying to maximize the perceived numbers of these gun-goobers, do we yet have any credible figures as to actual turnout?

2. Regarding numbers, I wonder how many people would likely show up in Richmond to support the Lege’s gun-control measures?

I think this event may have backfired (so to speak) on the goobers. Instead of fear and respect, the ridiculous costumes and obvious lack of fitness have engendered a global wave of mockery and derision. It really is a kind of dytopian cosplay, less a demonstration than a freak show.

I’m tired of being told we can’t mock gun nuts. I’m sorry but when you constantly fall for the same lies about gun grabbers and oppose measures that the NRA itself embraced as recently as 20 years ago, you’re part of the problem. Authorities have a right to be suspicious of people who start assembling arsenals quickly. Not to mention the hypocrisy of all the Reagan fanboys who ignore Ron loved gun control after his scared white base saw black panthers and when Ron himself was hurt due to poor gun safety laws.

Yes. From November 2019:

Import Alert Name:
“Detention Without Physical Examination of Skin Whitening Creams Containing Mercury”
Reason for Alert:
The toxicity of mercury compounds has been extensively documented. In accordance with 21 CFR 700.13 (FR, Vol. 38 No. 3, January 5, 1973, pgs. 853-854), effective July 5, 1973, except for those cosmetics meeting the conditions of 21 CFR 700.13(d)(2)(i) or (d)(2)(ii), any cosmetic product containing mercury as an ingredient is deemed adulterated and subject to regulatory action.

Analysis performed by CFSAN’s Color Technology Branch found a skin cream, Manning Beauty Cream, to contain approximately 8% mercury by weight. In addition, the product is labeled to contain calomel, a form of mercury known as mercurous chloride. Additional creams from other firms have also been labeled as containing mercury compounds.

Guidance:
Districts may detain, without physical sampling and analysis, shipments of products from firms and products identified in the Red List.

Indeed, far too kind. Gun worship in the US is about racism, and specifically the power of life and death given to white men over everyone else. Gun worship is a totem of white power, so in one sense gun cultists are telling the truth when they say it’s about freedom and culture - it’s about their freedom to hold everyone else in bondage, and the culture where white men hold all the power. Any challenge to that becomes a direct threat to their very way of life. Not the one where they use guns, the one where they expect their status above everyone else to go unchallenged.

It is impossible for me(I am Dutch) to comprehend why it is allowed to carry a gun when you are not a police officer, a hunter or a member of a shooting club. Guns don’t belong in schools, restaurants, bars, homes and streets. Scary, deadly, threatening, unsafe…

If you want to own and keep a gun to defend your own home, then I guess that is your good right, and very few people are advocating that should be taken away.

If you want to take it hunting or to a shooting range, then I also guess that is your good right as long as it is carried and transported safely and responsibly.

But even as an American, I do not see your right to carry a gun anywhere in public as something guaranteed by the Second Amendment.

There are so many aspects of the #richmondgunrally that are alien to me but the one that I really can’t wrap my head around is the willingness to be seen, in public, dressed like some wannabe badass LARPing idiot

It’s why we have a high rate of gun violence. Not mental illness but easy access to these things.

Too true. Mental health needs more attention but it is not a solution to gun violence. I happen to know that there is no shortage of nutters in the UK, yet they are not constantly shooting each other. The reason is simple: They can’t easily get guns. More cogently, there are millions of guns in Canada and Australia but they too have much lower rates of gun violence. The difference is the kind of common sense regulation that the NRA opposes on the basis of an insane conspiracy theory about confiscation as a prelude to liberal tyranny.

That’s because these assholes only care about Mental Health insomuch as it can be used as a bludgeon against gun rights, and if the side effect is to marginalize and demonize folks who need actual mental health assistance? So be it, it’s a feature, not a bug, it makes it so guns can never be ‘the problem’ and it solves that pesky thing about health care, because hey, you don’t want to burden ‘the public’ with taking care of all those violent crazies, right?!

A Rasmussen poll. Rasmussen is pretty much invariably weighted +10% GOP, so deduct that 10% and you’ll get the real number.

So even with a famously GOP favored poll, he’s still under water. Sad!
