Historically, if you’re under 25, you’re less likely to vote than any other demographic group. Older folks are the most likely to vote. Sanders might capture more of that young vote, but if they’re not turning out in numbers, it doesn’t matter. He wont win.
We know that everyone else is splitting the moderate vote - and that a majority of Democrats are voting for someone other than Bernie. They haven’t coalesced around a single candidate, and in a straight up 1-1 fight, I think Bernie loses handily against whoever it is.

to be honest, this kind of treason, for the sake of maintaining personal power usually results in those that have continued to enforce it against the majority ending badly. Been on the receiving end of one of those. Corporate income metric for triggering a company-wide bonus was missed due to a multiple million dollar transfer into a account used to pay the top 20 or so company executives *their* special bonus payments.
We later got a “pity bonus” 1/2% bonus for just missing the target instead of the 3% we would have gotten for making the target.
(Only knew about this due to knowing the IT guy who supported payroll accounting that was pulled into a special meeting where they carried out the transfer and made sure it was in the right accounts. If you ever wanted to see rock-bottom cynicism it was that floor of the HQ - IT/Accounting/Treasury. We saw all the shenanigans.)

In 1967/68 I was TDY to Laos to provide aircraft armament support to the Royal Lao Air Force. Met Gen. Vang Pao. In 1973/74/75 had to sit in Thailand and watch Laos, Cambodia and South Viet Nam fall. If I understand correctly, the FCC regulates over air broadcasting because the frequency spectrum belongs to everybody. We, through the mechanism of the federal government, allow broadcasters to use bits of that spectrum. In return, we demand that they behave.
In most places I have lived, cable options were limited (or there was only one provider for a given area.) Each cable operator needs permission from the local government to operate, and to operate with limited competition as well.
I am unilaterally declaring that that process is sufficiently analogous to the distribution of bits of the broadcast frequency spectrum as to allow for government regulation. I am also declaring that, for this specific purpose ONLY, each local government is a subset of the federal government and therefor the FCC may demand truthful news even from cable news. “Wait,” you say, “aren’t you conflating carriers/distributors with the content creators in a legally flawed manner with potential unwanted repercussions elsewhere?” Yes, yes I am. But Alan Dershowitz assures me that it is all perfectly fine, and he is famous, so there you go.

When you consider that most of these people live like soft French dukes and are built like the portrait of Dorian Gray, realize that it’s not even that they value the manly masculinity they bray about. Manliness, like whiteness, actually doesn’t have any definition, because any definition with hard boundaries would exclude them.
I mean, I’m talking a lot about the hollowing out of meaning, but: seriously, consider how little “manliness” means when it can expand to encompass these syphilitic blanchemanges and their Louis XIVth repro. And the believers are fine with it, because fuck no they’re not going to live up to any of the positive attributes of old-school manliness; they’re just willing to dabble in the concept when it gives them license to be shitty or cruel.
The slightly more nuanced version of this is how they view soldiers as “manly” because they have license to kill, but don’t like the complexity, and someetimes tragedy, of actually being a soldier. A guy who shoots because he’s having fun being cruel is their idea of what a solider is, so Gallagher is one of the good ones. Any person who’s served and come away with “that was hard, and killing is terrible, maybe we should think about how we make the call to fight very carefully” is weak.
It would be fun to have Susan Collins as a teacher because she’d just give everyone A’s in the hopes they one day learn something.
