I apologize for the mistake in labelling the spiders. The second one is Maratus Pardus. Of course I missed something that obvious in the edit.

I seriously wonder how many Trump groupies just go from rally to rally. When I look at the pictures I swear I see a cluster of the same sad slobs at each of these Nuremberg rallies!

Seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a lazy leader. I mean in a way that’s great but in other ways, we still do need a functioning executive branch.

When the most famous historian in America is Ken Burns and you only hear from him once every 3 years or so on PBS this is what you get.

I always wonder about what Tulsa and America would be if those riots never took place.

Good on “The Watchman” comic books have gotten a really bad rap because, mostly, of Hollywood’s take on the usually far superior comic books. It is not the fault of the comic book that Hollywood can’t come up with any other ideas.

Here’s my question: Are the Times going to actually keep on this story? Because it seems like it’s a really fucking important story that should be covered agressively in order to maintain the sovereignty and security of our elections.

Or are they going to tell us the next day or day after about Trump’s latest brilliant political move to shit on the desk and fling it at a dartboard with Pelosi’s picture on it? Because that tends to be their speed.

Well there’s one diner that they haven’t been to yet. But yes the media really needs to stay on this. And this is why the Mueller Report still matters because he did correctly point out that the Russians would interfere on Trump’s behalf again.

I mean Fox is bad as is. I have never seen a supposedly democratically elected leader act this whiny. HRC had it right. He is unbelievably thin skinned. In a way, his daily list of grievances keep us from being aware of what’s really going on along with his constant hyperbolic bullshit. This guy isn’t a straight shooter at all. Proving my point. He proves about everything. Oh you panned his debate four years ago. He’s going to bring it up! I mean I just want to say to his supporters. Come the fuck on already. You really like having a President who’s constantly whining about every slight he’s ever had? I guarantee everyone in that audience has had something worse happen to them than their debate performance being panned. Yet they love it.

re: #28 jaunte

From the tweet “The thing about Trump I least understand is how his supporters love hearing him whine”.

That’s an easy answer. Trump’s whining validates the similar whining his supporters have as their main coping mechanism for life.

The only strategy the US right has for getting votes is fostering resentment in its base, and that means the validation/exaltation of their whining. Trump is perhaps better at that than any other person can be, in his uniquely revolting position as an (apparently) rich asshole — making him a God to the GOP base — and a pathologically whiny and needy narcissist (i.e., whiny members of the GOP base feel that they can be just like their God).

IMO the US presidential pardon power should be removed via constitutional amendment.

Trump’s abuses have made this crystal clear.

Furthermore, while there is absolutely no question of any equivalence with Trump’s abuses, I do remember not being amused by Bill Clinton’s pardon of Marc Rich.

Do you have a Netflix account? The mini docuseries about Hitler’s inner circle is fascinating. I found myself thinking immediately of Trump when I saw how pathetic his lackeys were to serve him which actually goes back to Mein Kempf since Hess ghostwrote it pretty much while the two were imprisoned after the Putsch.

Trump better not go after any K-Pop stars. Those fans will pin him down like Gulliver.

I’m surprised he didn’t say something about the asshole who spouted racist remarks to a Korean e-sports star after a recent tournament in Texas.

Of course he doesn’t like it. It’s got subtitles and he’s functionally illiterate.

He never watched it. What movies has Trump actually seen since being elected President? Any? He’s probably regurgitating an attack that he read on twitter or saw on Faux News. He doesn’t have the patience to watch a film unless it features him and even then, he probably cannot handle more than 20 minutes.

We had parent-teacher conferences for my son on Tuesday. When my wife got home, she handed my son one of his school papers and told him to read it to me. After some hemming and hawing (he is autistic, after all, and being put on the spot is hard for him), he consented. He wrote… an article about programmers, who they are, what they do, and why it’s important. He wrote about me. I still can’t even think about it without tearing up a little.

re: #123 jaunte

My only real problem with this is that Warren should know - as an attorney - that Bloomberg’s point about the non-disclosure/non-disparagement agreements being to be benefit of all parties. Yes, it does stop plaintiffs/employees from talking about the case/claim later. But it also does stop employers and defendants from talking shit about the plaintiff later, and/or mocking their claims.

I say this as a lawyer who has litigated and settled a whole lot of cases - it’s usually a provision put in by attorneys in part because they don’t want to be back dealing with the same case two years later because someone is running their mouth and the other side thinks its defamation or whatever. It, in a very clunky way, allows the parties to put the case behind them and move on - and trust me, after a year of litigation where you’ve been responding to discovery and going through mediation and all the other bullshit before your proverbial day in court, you’ll want to move on.

It feels like a populist stunt to me. And I don’t like populism, it’s playing with fire.

Bloomberg fucked up his answer, which isn’t a surprise, he basically was subject to a surprise cross-examination with apparently no prep.

137
KGxvi  Feb 20, 2020 • 6:49:27pm

One more thought about Warren’s debate performance… I think her best bit was when she went full Law Professor on Buttigeg and Klobachar. Saying his health care plan wasn’t a plan, it was a power point presentation. And that her’s wasn’t even a plan, it was a post it note with “insert plan here.” That or the bit at the end where she made the case for her electability and the flaws with everyone else at the end.

I said earlier, I’ve mostly made up my mind, barring some weird turn of events between now and Super Tuesday, and my vote is going to be for Warren - populist reservations and all.

Well I think one thing Trump’s “presidency” has done is blown mile-long holes in the argument that the Constitution is a “divinely inspired” document that needn’t have any correction, amendments, or evolution. The Electoral College, Pardon power, and the creeping power of an Executive Police Force beholden only to Trump are just some of the things the Founding Fathers were just either too lazy to contemplate or too naïve to consider actually happening. An abjectly divided Congress with a Republican Party firmly hostile towards the Age of Enlightenment is something that they probably thought could never come to pass.
