In Which Donald Trump Sends a Bizarre Ranty Letter to Sen. Schumer

Weird • Views: 30,258

I’m filing this under Weird, for obvious reasons. This is not the behavior of a well human being at the best of times, but we’re in the midst of a pandemic and this guy is supposed to be the leader of the US.

CL’ed here is another bizarre ranty letter sent by the Trump campaign:

If Trump weren’t so dumb he’d realize he sort of summarized Keynesian economics.

Daniel Dale

@ddale8
Trump asked what happens when states are competing against each other for these items: “They have that, and they have to work that out.” He blames states for not ordering critical supplies before. “When times become normalized,” they need to stock up, he says.

It’s a trick that populists have used forever. Those damn elites don’t care about you and your problems, they’re off in Washington enriching themselves

“proving your Americanism” is insidious.

It is part of the reason, I suspect, that my mom did not teach me and my sister Spanish when we were growing up. She would deny it, and claim that I was slow to speak as a kid, but she had cousins raised bilingual. But I think it’s a desire to not be different - even now, she doesn’t speak Spanish unless she has to.

Plane tickets for our trip at the end of April all cancelled now - no refunds, of course, just the ability to have them hold our funds for travel within the next 12-24 months! Hahaha. On hold with the hotel to see if we can maybe change the dates on our reservation there to November. It’s supposed to be non-refundable. I figure it can’t hurt to ask and if not, well, we can afford to eat that. Most of the rest of the trip’s funds will eventually get used.

Behind spoiler tags for semi-personal rant:

One of the real overlooked aspects of the coronavirus pandemic, IMHO, is how it has affected the rest of the healthcare system: i.e. those patients who DON’T have COVID-19, yet can’t get the proper care they need because “The System” - even in places like NYC, where we live - is getting occupied to (or beyond) capacity with COVID cases; and the effects have spilled over to seriously affect pretty much every other type of patient. And most media reports tend to ignore the tangential effects (unsurprisingly, in favor of the deadlier aspects of the pandemic. This isn’t to say that isn’t important (well, vital: literally in most cases); but, at least the way I read it, the general reportage on the Coronavirus gives the impression that virtually every other medical issue in the country is “non-essential” - kind of along the lines of facelifts or wart removals - and, ISTM, dismisses the effects the system overload has on “ordinary” patients.

The personal part is because of my wife’s serious medical problems (so far, I’m mostly OK, Thank Dog) but Mrs. Jay is quite far from OK. First, she is a chronic-pain patient: bad enough, but she recently suffered a mysterious outbreak of some sort of serious systemic inflammation which has left her body covered with painful lesions utterly unresponsive to topical treatment, and an inflamed scalp, to boot. And of course, it all got really bad just three weeks ago: just in time for every doctor we know to basically go into isolation as well as us: so even trying to get something done about treating this outbreak has been an uphill climb, - and when it comes to her sort of illness (not uniquely, I’m sure), video-conferencing doesn’t quite make it. And even the most caring doctor isn’t going to be able to do much on FaceTime….

And the “cabin fever” aspect isn’t helping: it is very disconcerting to have to listen to your spouse howl in pain all night and day (medications aren’t helping: that’s another medical saga for another time), and not be able even to plan an appointment to try to deal with it until the isolation protocols are lifted - we are going to try an Urgent Care Center tomorrow (assuming they are not overrun in the meantime); but we’ve already been warned that they are going to push us through and send us home ASAP to avoid possible COVID exposure.

Could always be worse, I suppose….
Sorry for the kvetching: but publishing this (even in an LGF comment) is mildly therapeutic.

ACTUALLY, the plastic and duct tape approach is correct for some threats. While we were stationed in Israel, Saddam made several feints of scud-borne anthrax attack. Our embassy issued all of us a home shelter kit provided by the IDF—a ton of sheeting and two massive rolls of shitcolored camo tape. Our quarters was modern, with a shelter (30cm concrete walls, gas-tight door, and 12mm steel window shutter). We didn’t have to use it, but older houses would.

A few years ago, there was a conspiracy claim going around that the Obama administration had secretly stockpiled 30,000 guillotines. Trump has obviously not found them, meaning they will be available once Biden takes office, since he undoubtedly knows where they are stashed.

Pence was named the covid19 task force head. So what the fuck is Kushner doing running around with his own operation going on? Has he replaced Pence and no one told Pence? Did Trump know? Does he even care?

You couldn’t get a more incompetent and failed response if you even tried.

In fact, if you thought that Trump was actively sabotaging the US and working as a foreign agent, you’d be hard pressed to identify how the outcome would be any different.

The son in law that vetoed Christie as a VP choice because Christie prosecuted his father and also might have paid off a DA to go easy on him as well as the President’s daughter and son. The idea that Trump was going to clean up Washington was the hoax.

Jared is trying to prove that the private sector works better than the federal government. Pence’s job is to fuck up the government response. Rush and Hannity make sure their loyal listeners/viewers believe government is the problem. In other words, the GOP trifecta.

hi.

Power has been on and off here. As you can see, it’s on now. It probably won’t stay that way you lucky devils.

nebraska.maps.arcgis.com

Nebraska stats:

Positive Covid-19 tests: 455 (0 new since yesterday)
Total tests: 4,560
Deaths: 5 (+1 from yesterday, a Madison County woman in her seventies. Madison County is in the northeast part of the state, near South Sioux City.)

Fifteen more counties have been put under Directed Health Measures. At this point, I’m not sure why Governor Ricketts just doesn’t close it all up.

Who does the Directed Health Measure apply to?

It applies to places such as theaters, churches, houses of worship, gyms, social clubs, salons, and social gatherings, including weddings, funerals, concerts, and athletic events. This is not an exhaustive list, but illustrates the types of locations the DHM applies to.

About two-thirds of the counties in Nebraska are under DHMs, including all the largest cities.

Why no. As a matter of fact, once it warms up we plan on opening up the house and giving a good airing out.

The first sentence is true. Once it warms up enough we do plan on opening up the house and getting rid of the winter tang.

I saw this earlier today. Out of morbid curiosity, I google the website associated with the email in the tweet. I got a warning page that the site was not secure and back off pretty quickly.

re: #60 makeitstop

Do any of these sons of bitches expect to be able to go out in public once they’re no longer in power?

There will still be millions of Xtians who will still slobber over the ground Trump and his henchmen walk on.

That island better not have WiFi or a hot spot.

a hotspot is ok, as long as it’s a volcano

No, but they’ve probably stolen enough money to buy Epstein’s island.

One of the people I went to high school with was one of the first female Nukes in the Navy. She’s a winger, but she’s pissed about the firing, but her response is just shit:

So the 2700 people disembarking is the air wing. That’s not a surprise; it’s the squadrons finding a way to get their planes and people home.

But he’s being relieved of command? Because he asked for help???? When the &$?@ did Killary start working in the Pentagon?!?!?

THE MAN ASKED FOR HELP BECAUSE HE KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE BAD.

Alcatraz. The Dry Tortugas.

You keep your hands off of Alcatraz, we’re using it.

And Native Americans have at least second dibs.

Was thinking of St. Helena, the Napoleon Suite.

Surely there’s a coral atoll somewhere. I find the idea of living on one very oppressive (stony ground and palm trees) and they can test the idea that global warming is a hoax. If the waters don’t rise, they live.
