In Which Donald Trump Fights COVID-19 With Magical Thinking and Con Man Happy Talk

“This is going away. It’s gonna leave. It’s gonna be gone.”
Health • Views: 31,853

Just a quick snapshot of what our forever-impeached narcissist in chief is up to today: pushing ahead with forcing states to lift stay-at-home restrictions.

Trump’s been listening to the experts on this weighty issue. And by experts, I mean the haunted voices emanating from the bottomless pit of pure need at the center of his being.

We need strong leadership more than ever, but we’ve got a con man hopelessly out of his depth.

I like to quote Aunty Entity from Beyond Thunderdome when Max blows up Bartertown: “Where’re you gonna run? Where’re you gonna hide?”

We’re powerless.

All we can do is vote for Biden, or, vote for Howie or Amash, or vote nobody (no vote).

Vote for Biden and avoid 4 years of Trump, maybe, …or what?

It’s evidently true without saying that many of the participants in the Tara Reade/Tara McCabe story are privileged. It doesn’t matter how her story shakes out, or even if. They’re secure. In many instances, the principals are affluent white males. Nothing can happen to them.

The rest of us? We don’t matter. If these people were honest, they’d say, “no, you never did matter!” (And Tara herself will not matter in the end, either.)

It’s going to shake out with an endless hammering in the NYT and on CNN, with pundit after pundit asking about it, a new headline story every few days, and just when it seems to be finally at rest, with another bombshell 10 days before the election where Barr or someone announces that they are re-opening the investigation.

Not long after my dad died, my mother lost her goddamned mind. That may sound unkind to you, but that’s what happened. It wasn’t dementia or any physical disease process. She just went berserk and began laying waste to what was left of the family, and left a lot of completely inexplicable destruction in her wake. And I do mean “inexplicable” - it was as if the mom from Leave It To Beaver had suddenly revealed herself to be a cannibalistic serial killer with no prior warnings. She shocked friends and family with her profoundly out-of-character behavior. It didn’t take long for her to begin behaving so strangely that it was easier to think of her as having died.

And yet, she never once sounded half as delusional as Donald Trump, President of the United States of America, when he talks about how a global pandemic is going to “go” and “leave” and “be eradicated” any minute now.

Harris: Her husband is why she’s where she is. Harris is A Cop!

As a Warren supporter, I can tell you that is absolutely true. I had to unfollow a lot of people in my Twitter circles, because many of them bought the idea in full that Warren deliberately falsified her supposed Cherokee heritage. When people of color unfollow people who use slurs on them all day long, it’s self-preservation. When I unfollow someone who tells me I’m living on “stolen land” and need to “come to terms with it” (disappear), then I’m not accepting the Truth.

People in my timeline were saying that Warren outright traumatized Cherokee Nation. By extension, her supporters were colonialist oppressors.

A few weeks ago, someone made a joke about pastries and cultural appropriation. I said, “Making that pastry is appropriating culture. You made and consumed it on stolen land.”

That’s Left Twitter. If Elizabeth were in Biden’s position, this would be NON STOP. Rose Twitter would gladly provide the gas and matches to Burn it All Down (or is it Bern It All Down?)

Grocery store update: arrived late in the afternoon today.

The store had been picked over pretty well.

Canned goods - soups, pasta (and dry pasta also), vegetables, etc. are very scarce on the shelf.

Paper aisle… sigh.

The aisles that are best stocked are once again the sugar aisles (sugar water, candy, cookies and crackers and chips, etc.)

I forgot to look in the meat department (I rarely go there.)

Good news is that the produce section still is going strong. And I was able to get a bag of 6 avocados for $1.25 after coupons, etc. And there were still lots of bags of them on the shelf, so either people aren’t in the mood for buy avocados or there is a huge stock of them. Then again, the produce section is not so popular with Americans, most of whom seem more concerned about meat and toilet paper.

Meat and toilet paper… this is the new campaign slogan for any enterprising candidate:

A steak in every skillet and 12 rolls of toilet paper in every bathroom!

They don’t scare me or anyone I know. In fact, everyone I know has personalized there’s to some degree. Mine has Star Wars stuff on it.

That and, to quote the princess bride: “They’re terribly comfortable and I think everyone will be wearing them in the future.”

The aisles that are best stocked are once again the sugar aisles (sugar water, candy, cookies and crackers and chips, etc.)

There was also a woman in the UK ratfucknig a few months back. I haven’t seen her lately. She was probably asked about Brexit once too often.

Mites on Common Mullia

So small that I did not notice them through the viewfinder. On my screen at home, I thought they were ticks. A browse through the insect book suggested they were Concrete Mites. Fat blood red bugs no bigger than the space in the middle of the letter “O”.
