Plaintiff’s bar and parents of children under the age of 13, heads up. Looks like taking the personal information without parental consent is an unfair and deceptive trade practice. Looks like Ferrari-Brad likely blew the safe harbor.

This will be the ultimate downfall of Trump: not his inherent evil but the blundering ham-handedness of the operation.

Any organization that knew how to delegate jobs to people actually capable of doing them would not have let a dilettante’s error like this slip by.

The guy who built the transcontinental railroad, the free tuition land-grant colleges, raised taxes enough to balance the budget and would have done reconstruction properly if that bullet through his head hadn’t stopped him?

Or the Teddy Roosevelt version. National Parks, Panama Canal, trust-busting, FDA, and balanced the budget.

Or even the Eisenhower version. Interstate highways, public school expansion, supported unions, took the space program away from the military, followed through on the Marshall Plan, Earl Warren, 1957 Civil Rights Act (majority leader LBJ blocked it), sent the 101st Airborne to enforce civil rights decisions in states that refused to do it themselves, protected Social Security, showed the world how to Democracy properly… and kept taxes high enough to balance the budget.

For “I’m not involved” Trump was pretty quick to nominate someone for the SDNY attorney position. So we get a better idea who was lying more yesterday.

The spin regarding Trump I’m seeing in other circles is about how he is charismatic without touching much on the underlying hate and racism that is his true calling card. (And I suspect the lukewarm defenders don’t want to touch that.)

The police viewing “Black Lives Matter” as an insult or challenge that must be painted over repeatedly are showing further that they just don’t get it. And convincing a lot of others that reform of police departments and union contracts is going to have to go all the way to the foundations and require complete rebuilding.

And the apologetics around the pathetic Tulsa fail rally are simply that; pathetic. The picture of Trump coming off AF1 with the tie loose and that expression is a campaign ad unto itself.

I see no future for the fascists except to either sieze power and end American democracy, or shrivel into irrelevance. Then there could be room on the political spectrum for a new major party. Either on the right if the Democrats move to the left, or a progressive party if the Democrats move right to pursue former Republicans.

One of my twitter followers keeps calling him “Porkus” and it pretty much makes me laugh every time.

I liked this Robin Givhan description of his Tulsa entrance (bolding mine):

The president paused for dramatic effect before he walked onstage at his Tulsa rally. He was silhouetted under a blue and white “Make America Great Again” banner and against an American flag. And in the few seconds that he stood basking in adulation, he resembled a giant black rectangle. A massive, inanimate void.

And here’s an another, excruciatingly important factor to consider: the sociopathic policies are exactly what endear Mango Mussolini to his base, so while those types of ads motivate Dems, they can have a backfire effect of encouraging the durr hurr owned teh libz crowd (one reason I think such ads are better when they target the GOP as a whole, in order to remind low-info/apathetic non-voters that downballot races count too).

The beauty of ads that mock and demean trump for being weak is that they make him (and therefore anyone who supports him) look and feel like a loser as well (in fact, the only thing that could make the cultists desert him is something humiliating enough to forever destroy his alpha-bully image).

The big reason nobody believes their bullshit is that the overflow area was virtually empty. If they hadn’t made this big production of promising standing room outside the venue and then advertised that Donny would be speaking to the folks out there instead of in the Center, perhaps the whole “PROTESTORS KEPT PEOPLE OUT OF THE BUILDING!!!” bit might be halfway credible.

President Trump has declared an emergency and called up the National Guard, joined by regular Army scouts and topographers from Fort Sill, to locate and rescue the thousands of confused Trump followers who are still roaming the Oklahoma back country looking for Tulas. Efforts by locals to convince them there is no such place have been met with disbelief, dismissal, threats and gunfire, since Eric Trump himself said it so it has to be true.

From 2016:

For starters, like Trump, he’s a political novice who has built a professional reputation for himself in Texas but has never worked in Washington…

He began by cold-calling local clients but soon graduated to major contracts with the likes of the Trump Organization, which led to gigs building websites for Trump Winery and the Eric Trump Foundation.

wired.com

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee hired Parscale in 2012 to build a website for Trump International Realty. Parscale went on to work on sites for Trump Winery, the Eric Trump Foundation and a site for Trump’s wife, Melania.

Someone who is legally carrying (concealed or open) would be able to shoot the driver in such a case as the car is considered to be a “deadly weapon” and self defense would apply. Just a thought…

It is really getting under the skin of wingnuts that Trump had a lower turnout than a Disney On Ice production. The excuse-making is never gonna end.

In their defense, at the Disney On Ice production I bet only 40-45% in attendance really wanted to be there.

Here’s another person I think has some good points and apparently knows what she’s talking about, but is overstating the damage to the Trump campaign’s data mining operation. They’ve been collecting this data for years now. Even if they have to filter out everything from Tulsa or roll back to an earlier version, they’d still have years’ worth of data collected.

This doesn’t wreck their whole op.

Ingredients:

2 pkgs. “JIFFY” Vegetarian Corn Muffin Mix OR
2 pkgs. “JIFFY” Corn Muffin Mix
2 eggs
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1-1/2 cups fresh blueberries

Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease muffin pans or use paper baking cups.

Combine muffin mixes, eggs, sour cream, milk and sugar until blended. Fold in blueberries. Fill muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake 18 - 23 minutes. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes before removing muffins from pan.

Mom would sprinkle Cinnamon Sugar on the muffin tops after they are pulled from the oven.

Makes 15-18 Muffins that are sooooooo goooood!

Fresh polling intentions data especially on the run-up to the election is worth a lot more in dollar terms and applicability than last year’s mailing and email contact lists. The Trump campaign spent a lot of dollars, time and effort on this Tulsa rally to get those emails and addresses… they’re worthless, hopelessly contaminated. The best they could hope for is to get cards or something filled in by actual butts-in-seats attendees but again they’re looking at a stale audience, some of whom were boasting that Tulsa was the 36th Trump rally they’d attended, not fresh supporters which are the real harvest for this sort of operation.

This failure has cost them millions of dollars and thousands of man-hours, it will provide no significant upswing in voting intentions for the incumbent and there can be no ongoing engagement with new prospective voters and donors. Expect heads to be rolling out of the Trump campaign offices this week.

OK, so I wasn’t going to go out and picket Dream City Church (fka Phoenix First Assembly of God) today because it’s HOT. But I did after I got blocked from posting on Dream City Church’s FB page. Yeah, I’m That Woman who can throw on clothes, make a sign and be out the door in less than 10 minutes. I got to the church (33 miles away) in less than 40 minutes.

And you know why I went? Because I rolled back on Luke Barnett’s sermon and caught this (sorry, it’s from the YT transcript and not cleaned up very much):

Some of you know that this coming Tuesday our entire campus is being leased out by an organization called turning-point USA and I learned just about a week ago that they had invited President Trump to speak at their event on this campus and so I knew that that would be a just a political nightmare for a pastor because we are not political we’re not a political organization but we did lease out our campus and so I begin to feel the firestorm a pressure from the mob out there saying things like you got to cancel this event you got it but I gave my word and all you really have the
other day is your integrity and if you don’t stand your integrity you don’t have anything left and I gave my word so I’m gonna stand I’m gonna practice what my dad has taught me now the mob will come and go the mob will you know be gone in a few in a few days but at least I still have my integrity that’s still intact. That may not mean much to people these days anymore but it means a lot to me because my dad taught me that integrity is a very important value.

Dream City Church • Phoenix Live Stream (starting at 47:32)

I can tell you this is complete and utter horseshit. Luke Barnett knew long before a week ago that they’d rented out to Turning Point USA. When I heard that, I was like, HELL NO, got my sign and took off.

welcome to Trump Temple!

I let them know I was coming, so I was greated with a hearty, “Hello, Donna” (the name is Deana) when the police drove down from the campus in their golf cart.

Rent A Cops

I pay more taxes than Dream City Church does and it infuriates the hell out of me that “Dr.” Luke Barnett (he has a fake doctorate) would talk about “integrity” like this. It’s complete and utter horseshit.

And, as we all know, I am THAT WOMAN who can teach these numbnuts a lesson, Sunday after Sunday after Sunday about lying. They’re on the list.

According to the SoS site:

If a candidate receives a majority of the vote (50 percent+1) in the primary election, will there still be a general election?

Yes. The top two vote-getters move on to the general election regardless of party preference or whether one candidate receives a majority of all votes cast in the primary election. Only candidates running for State Superintendent of Public Instruction or candidates for voter-nominated offices in special elections can win outright by getting a majority of the vote (50 percent + 1) in the primary election.

Trump must be trying to earn his way to residency in a country that won’t extradite him…

Maduro should just refuse to take his calls.

I’m pretty skeptical that the Kpop kids really affected the turnout very much. They were giving out tickets to everyone who wanted one.

It’s far more likely that even a lot of Trump cultists are afraid of the coronavirus. Which they should be.

The kids just embarrassed Trump, and made the campaign look stupid and waste a lot of time and money doing things like setting up the outdoor stage and getting extra security.

The real takeaway from this should be: Trump couldn’t even sellout a 19k arena in an extremely red Red State when the tickets were free.

From the last thread:

re: #393 sagehen

And let’s talk about broadband for the nation’s interior.

That’s why a lot of people retire here, because it’s cheap to live here. It’s also why our local school boards and political offices are starting to turn blue.

re: #440 Eric The Fruit Bat

He claims to have filtered out bogus phone numbers - problem is that there are millions upon millions of valid and active phone numbers that are used by remote sensing equipment, smart gluocometers, fall-detection pendants, etc.

Our village wells have a telephone number though unlisted (and a physical telephone).

That would be another thing: How’s he checking to see if an unlisted telephone number is valid or not without calling it?

My father’s mother had the most magnificent patch of rhubarb. My father grew so sick of it growing up, he can no longer eat it. My mother submitted probably a dozen recipes when she applied to become a Taste of Home field editor… it was my father’s mother’s rhubarb crisp that got published. He still isn’t over that.

if they’re in front of Congress explaining (or even if they’re not) then it highlights and puts on record all of the evil and illegal shit that they’re doing. Dems should be able to multi-task, haul them all in, get them on the record. Then when they’re out of power and can no longer pull this shit, we can go back to record and MAKE them tell the truth.

That seems like an awful waste of time and money. Even if supporters of all the other losing candidates backup #2, they still wouldn’t win.

Local elections in the county treat the general as a run off. I thought State and Congress ones did as well. I know the Presidential obviously does not.

General elections usually have at least twice to three times (or more) the turnout of primary elections. So it’s definitely not a waste of money.

Democrats need to be using every tool they have to put this corrupt administration on the hot seat. This is a war for the future of America, not a goddamned high school debate
Using Inherent Contempt against the lot of them would be a start.

So would using the power of the purse.
