.”In the middle of the worst economy in a century and with more than a hundred thousand Americans dead this guy is primarily concerned with not looking weak…And his endless, bottomless insecurity was onstage, in three dimensions, during that storytelling moment, for everyone to see. I’ve seen a lot of crazy things in the last four years but that display of juvenile behavior and self-regard will go in the Trump time capsule.” - Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI)

Anyone in or near Houston:

Milo

Houston, TX area: “Milo” is now available for adoption. Milo was in horrific shape when we first discovered him. He was an “owned” dog and they surrendered him to FPA. Milo is a 9 year old little guy who was never welcomed inside his home. He wandered the neighborhood to beg for food and always went back to his “family” front porch to sleep. They never cared for him. They never loved him. Most people would shoo him away. Not anymore! We cannot erase his past but we can make sure his future will be filled with love and security. Milo is a very chill boy, he gets along great with the other dogs, he is crate and doggie door trained. He loves his meal and snack times and enjoys a good snuggle. He is so loving and wants to please. Milo still has some hair that needs to grow back but he is ready for a home of his own! He is neutered, current on vaccines and micro-chipped. He is Heartworm positive, so with his adoption, FPA will provide a year of Heartworm meds and cover his Heartworm test when due. He currently weighs about 23 lbs. Message or Email: forgottenpetadvocates@yahoo.com to meet this precious boy. Our Adoption Application: forgottenpetadvocates.com (Dog Application - No obligation and a Great Start)

At WaPo: Activists halt street protests in South Carolina as some demonstrators become infected

South Carolina racial justice activists said they would postpone future demonstrations or move them online after at least 13 people who took part in previous protests tested positive for the coronavirus.

As the number of cases across the country continued to climb ominously Monday, organizers of “I Can’t Breathe” protests in South Carolina urged participants to get tested for the virus.

In a video posted Sunday on Facebook, organizer Lawrence Nathaniel said demonstrators who marched in Columbia, S.C., between May 30 and June 17 had tested positive. He said four organizers were confirmed infected, along with three photographers and six protesters.

“We need to do our part,” he said. “Go get tested. Don’t come to a protest until you get tested, okay?”

I don’t know how MN lucked out by not having a huge covid spike after the George Floyd protests. People were trying to social distance and wear masks, but that probably happened at other state’s protests too.

This WaPo headline is a huge contrast to attitudes at Trump’s Tulsa debacle though.

Or just go to Ohio and West Virginia and hook up with the vacationers:

More than a dozen high school students in an Ohio county have tested positive for coronavirus after a trip to Myrtle Beach, officials said.

About 90 students from Belmont County, Ohio, and neighboring West Virginia, recently visited the Grand Strand, said Robert Sproul, deputy health commissioner with the Belmont County Health Department. To date, 14 students have tested positive for COVID-19.

The students said they returned from their trip on June 14 and started to develop symptoms about five days later.
