I guess it figures. Once you build your entire worldview around toxic delusions that the Pope, Charlie Sheen & Mitt Romney have all been arrested & executed, then the notion that laws don’t actually exist is a minor step.

Well, I guess we find out today how elections are evolving in America. Kentucky has one big-ass warehouse that seems fairly empty, although the early indications are that even more people are voting than in the Obama elections

Neighbor calls cops on 9-year-old for ‘Black Lives Matter’ message — but her attempt to halt the chalk art backfires

A suburban Columbus neighborhood rallied around a girl whose chalk art drew a complaint to police.

The 9-year-old girl wrote “Black Lives Matter” on the pavement in chalk last week in front of her Canal Winchester home, but a neighbor came outside and yelled at her and then called sheriff’s deputies, reported WBNS-TV.

At least the rest of the community seems reasonable:

After the confrontation, neighbors have been adding to Mira’s display with chalk art of their own.

“I wrote, ‘Keep on chalking, Mira,’” said neighbor Craig Kahle.

Jenna Acklin said the show of support meant a lot to her family.

“I’m so glad that it has spread the way it has, and I hope that people chalk their own walls and driveways,” she said.

Cecil explains it for you.

Dear Cecil:

Do Americans really have to pay income tax? I have been told the 16th Amendment, which authorized the income tax, is invalid because Ohio was not legally a state at the time of ratification. So far I haven’t had the nerve to actually try this argument out on the IRS, but with Christmas coming I could use the extra cash. What do you think, Cecil, is it worth a shot?

Abbott is full of shit. He’s already sided with anti mask covidiots and now he expects them to just change course and do the right thing? Prove you’re serious governor and fine these idiots 50O bucks the first time, 1000 the second and the third time means house arrest for a month or jail time for two weeks. Any business letting people go to normal mode should get their license and insurance pulled. Do that, then maybe you’d be more believable.

You hope against hope that these brainwashed Xtians might get a revelation that The Big G sent this plague to punish this country for electing Trump…but that won’t ever occur to them…they will still believe that Soros and Gates created this illness to keep Xtians from voting…

Sarah Palin is another matter

Here he’s not wrong
And he doesn’t mince words

General comment: For all her sins — and they are many — it’s unfair to compare Sarah to Trump. Sarah Palin’s 5 children are with a single husband, she has personally demonstrated her commitment to her anti-abortion views, she did not inherit wealth, and she had legitimate — if limited — experience holding office. She may be totally ignorant about issues but she’s not a sociopath. Steve did a real disservice to her by selecting her as McCain’s running mate. She may have grown in office as Governor of a small state, which is where she belonged.

Meanwhile in Idaho…

A group of right-wing Republican legislators planned to take to the Idaho Capitol Building in an unprecedented special session, pass legislation ending the state’s COVID-19 public health orders, and triumph over a dictatorial governor who they say has exceeded his authority by attempting to steer the state away from a spike in pandemic-caused deaths.

Just a few hours later, though, things ended with a whimper: Without a quorum, the handful of legislators present simply read a proclamation, spoke their piece, and called it a day. The state that Gov. Brad Little (R) had transformed from “a Republic to Monarchy or a Dictatorship,” in the words of anti-government extremist Ammon Bundy, remained unchanged.

I can’t wait to see Joe crack down on these assholes!

Except, of course, to excoriate them for being “obstructionist”. Schumer and the Dems are having none of it, of course, probably the background of Harris and Cornyn’s little contretemps

He was a New Englander born in 1890 who was largely self-educated and who came from a very whitebread family that lost a very comfortable upper middle-class existence when Lovecraft’s father wound up in a sanitorium with syphilis. His mother was also clearly mentally ill, so his upbringing was euphemistically eclectic. He honestly didn’t suffer from any greater anti-semitic notions than mostly any other white person in Providence at the time, nor any greater feelings of animosity towards other races. He suffered from the same superior sense of whiteness that Rudyard Kipling or Teddy Roosevelt would have had, and lived in a time when there was still a very “reasonable” belief that anglo-saxon/teutonic bloodlines were simply evolution’s inexorable drive towards perfection, and that intermixture of races could result in once-proud bloodlines being diluted down to apeishness. And to be completely fair, there’s no indication that Lovecraft actually showed animosity towards any individual based on race. Hart Crane couldn’t stand him, not because Lovecraft didn’t like his homosexuality, but because Lovecraft probably was completely oblivious to Crane’s sexual orientation and likely rubbed Crane severely the wrong way without even knowing why. Sorry, I don’t mean to go off on a polemic, but Lovecraft was my specialty in graduate school, and that was way before Lovecraft got hot in academic circles and became a very fashionable study choice.

“…Survivors of dead Confederate soldiers often took offense at measures appearing to equate them to Union soldiers, objections that died off as Southerners from the Civil War era did.”

They still don’t want to join the nation.

Time for that quote again from Virginia-born Union General George Henry “The Rock of Chickamauga” Thomas. Which should simply be added to the base of every goddamn ACW monument they want to keep:

[T]he greatest efforts made by the defeated insurgents since the close of the war have been to promulgate the idea that the cause of liberty, justice, humanity, equality, and all the calendar of the virtues of freedom, suffered violence and wrong when the effort for southern independence failed. This is, of course, intended as a species of political cant, whereby the crime of treason might be covered with a counterfeit varnish of patriotism, so that the precipitators of the rebellion might go down in history hand in hand with the defenders of the government, thus wiping out with their own hands their own stains; a species of self-forgiveness amazing in its effrontery, when it is considered that life and property—justly forfeited by the laws of the country, of war, and of nations, through the magnanimity of the government and people—was not exacted from them.
Report to General Ulysses S. Grant (17 November 1868)

Considering that Biden is on a path to a crushing landslide victory, I’d hate to see how bad he’d be defeating Trump if he wasn’t “deeply flawed.”

It’s the New York Times: it’s in their corporate charter that they’re required to dump on any Democratic politician who is a candidate for any office in the country. In the interest of “fairness” and “balance” of course…

I’d half-expect to see this lede in the NYT on November 4th:

Despite being dogged by persistent allegations of sexual abuse, Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden, Jr, was elected the 46th President last night with a 408-130 Electoral majority…..”

“Kwon, we need you to make a statue of Samson, get on it!”

“Sure, no problem.”

Two months later…

“Hey Kwon, can you change that Samson statue to one of Jesus?”

“Uhhh, sure, no problem.”

I’m just wondering which CDC lackey is going to have to break it to him, after two weeks when the limited tests and tracing pinpoint his rallies as an epicenter for infection.

Puny god.

That’s a German G36 though. Apparently right wing Jesus needs Euro-weapons.

It was the garage door pull down cord. My guess would be that that the original broke.came off at some time and someone on whatever team was using the garage at the time fashioned a replacement

Sean King, the Matt Gaetz of racial justice. lol

I generally don’t like agreeing with Sean King, but he’s sort of right that the Europeanization/Whitening of Jesus is a tool of white supremacy. The “popular” image of Jesus is completely fictional.

Yeah, even the heaviest flow tampon doesn’t expand to that size. I saw that instantly. If the cop did this himself, he needs some female anatomy lessons, and that’s just for starters. Public ridicule for life wouldn’t be awful either.

I can tell you from personal experience—NOT.A.TAMPON.

But that made me wonder what it was…and I think I know. Some OTC pill bottles still have cotton stuffed in them, which is annoying when you’re trying to get past the childproof cap, the tamper proof seal and then there’s this cotton wad? before you get to the naproxen sodium. That looks like the cotton stuffed into a bottle of OTC painkillers.

re: #88 Hecuba’s daughter

General comment: For all her sins — and they are many — it’s unfair to compare Sarah to Trump. Sarah Palin’s 5 children are with a single husband, she has personally demonstrated her commitment to her anti-abortion views, she did not inherit wealth, and she had legitimate — if limited — experience holding office. She may be totally ignorant about issues but she’s not a sociopath. Steve did a real disservice to her by selecting her as McCain’s running mate. She may have grown in office as Governor of a small state, which is where she belonged.
